wifi Kernel bug. - HTC Sensation

hi excuse me but with all mod kernel the wifi and other things like adb won't work. I've test all last kernel from Bricked kernel v0.9 and the faux kernel. Only the stock kernel work. i've tested with 4-5 custom rom and do the same thing.
I've last firmware and hboot 1.27 but s-on (i've done the unlockboot).
What im need to do?
edit:im need to have s-off to install custom kernel?

that's the problem with HTC dev unlocked bootloader....
umm... without going into technical details..
we can say that
the bootloader that you have right now only support stock kernels...(it's not a bug in other kernels it's just that your bootloader doesn't fully support other kernels)
also s-off is not possible right now if you are on 1.27 HBOOT
btw you are flashing custom kernels by using "fastboot flash boot boot.img" command right?
so my advice is stick with stock kernel until soff for 1.27 comes

EDIT: if you are not using the above mentioned method for flashing kernels..then extract the corresponding boot.img of the kernel you want from the rom's zip file (will present in kernel(s) folder) and flash the boot.img by using above mentioned command and see if the wifi issue got resolved

tnks
tnks but i don't flash custom kernels by using "fastboot flash boot boot.img" i only do install from 4ext recovery

That might be the cause for your WiFi issues.
Just extract the boot.img from either the
Kernel zip or Rom zip and then flash it using fastboot command that I've mentioned in my earlier post

maybe resolve
the last version of 4ext recovery maybe work with s-on tomorrow i test a custom kernel and if work i post

Will this work with my wifi issue? My phone was unrooted and i upgraded to ics over air. I got my wifi problem a few days later, so now i have used htc dev to unlock my phone... but im unsure what to do now? I havent even tried to loads any roms as i have s-on and can only use roms with the same sofware or higher? Is this right?
Thanks

Recently HTC has rolled out a 15 MB update which supposedly fixes WiFi and Bluetooth issues....can you check your software update again ....you might get it ...otherwise it is available in ARHD Rom thread as a zip file (ics_ota.zip search on ARHD thread) which can be flashed using
Recovery....but for you to have custom recovery you need to unlock your bootloader.... So its your choice
sent from my blazing fast pyramid through sonic waves

Yes i got that 15mg software update, no change whatsoever. My bootloader is already unlocked isnt it? My steps were: -
Bought New Phone
Upgraded to ics over air
wifi problems after a few days
unlocked bootloader using HTCDEV method so still have S-ON
I now just want best advice to load a custom rom and what rom
Thanks

ARHD...check my signature..its nearest to stock with tons of optimizations...
For Rom installation you need 4EXT recovery...latest get it from this thread.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377759..install the recovery updater..then using the app
Flash 4EXT recovery latest 1.0.0.5 one..
Enable smartflash mode while installation by saying yes when asked whether you are s-on
Then download the Rom and flash it from recovery(follow the steps in OP of ARHD while flashing rom)
sent from my blazing fast pyramid through sonic waves

Ive installed 4ext recovery on the phone through the sd card but when i try to install the 1.0.0.5 it goes through then says flashing failed
is your device s-off.
Enable smartflash mode while installation by saying yes when asked whether you are s-on
where is this option?
Thanks

Are you trying to update your recovery by the 4EXT recovery updater?????..
Then get the app from the thread i've mentioned and update your recovery through that app only...as it is asking the above question there only....
4EXT recovery -online install /update-then try to install latest recovery it is 1.0.0.5 rc2

SORRY FOR CONSTANT ADVICE
ive downloaded the app and the same thing. i cant access no settings without it asking me install 4ext recovery first. if i say yes it goes through the process then at the end it says u device has failed is ur device s-off.
Im stuck here!

Hmm then get this recovery image..http://db.tt/317tt763
Flash the recovery using fastboot command...
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
The recovery flash will be success only if you have unlocked bootloader
After that update the recovery using the app..and this time it should ask you whether you are SON or not then say yes

Done everything as you said everything went well but... still no luck with teh 4ext recovery control.
every option on the app says "you need to install 4ext recovery first! do you want to do that now?
if you select yes it goes through the intallation process then at end says u device has failed is ur device s-off
if you select no goes back to menu.

we'll go the traditional way...
you got 4EXT now right (forget the smartflash one)
get your ROM on sdcard...and flash it through recovery....

if the phone bootloops after flashing then go to bootloader->fastboot and let me know

[Q] Bootloop on Splashscreen / Don't know what to do

Hi guys,
im really desperate here, my sensation xe (hboot 1.23, s-off), won't let me boot any flashed rom.
My firmware is 3.32 and im using 4ext recovery 1.005 RC3.
Even my Nandroid backup of ARHD 6.6.3 won't boot, the phone gets stuck in a bootloop (it does't even show the boot animation, only the splashscreen for a few seconds, then reboots).
i bet someone on here can help me, because i don't know what to do.
thank you in advance
best regards

If your hboot is 1.23 then you DO NOT have 3.32 firmware. Re-flash the firmware and try to reboot...

i reflashed the firmware, formatted all partitions in recovery, and flashed ARHD, but no luck i'm still stuck in a splashscreen bootloop.
the recovery (after flashing arhd) prompted something like "boot update pending, will reboot after update is finished"
maybe there is a problem with the latest rc of the 4ext touch recovery?
thanks again for your help
Are you definitely s-off, or are you simply *unlocked*? Also, did you run the superwipe script?

i don't know
when i turn it off by pulling battery and then turn it on by pressing vol down and power (i think thats fastboot?) the second line from the top says S-Off RL
Ok, that's s-off.
Did you run superwipe?
Did you run an md5 checker on all of your files?
Is it still reading 1.23 on hboot? (should be 1.27.1100)

if by superwipe you mean flash a file that's named superwipe, no i didn't.
i chose format all (except sd) in the 4ext touch wipe menu.
i did run an md5 check on all files.
the hboot version number says 1.27.1100.
i just reflashed recovery from fastboot to see if it helps (altough i flashed the same recovery version, so maybe theres some kind of bug?) but it is still stuck on splashscreen.
aww man i'm really desperate right now, i kind of need this phone because i have no replacement

did it, flashed arhd afterwards, didn't work.
still stuck on splashscreen.
thank you so much for your help! any other idea?
I'm going to lunch. I'll ponder on it...
okay i got it working and here is what i did:
it seems 4ext recovery was trying to flash a messed up boot image over and over again.
i pulled the boot.img from the arhd zip file and flashed it via fastboot. it now seems to boot (it has gone past the splashscreen and now shows the boot animation).
thanks again for your.
i can not recommend the latest recovery

both faux kernel boot.img, but somehow 4ext was stuck with an "old" boot.img from a previous aosp rom.
the feature "smartflash" was activated and somehow could not be deactivated. that way the recovery, everytime when it was done flashing the rom, flashed an aosp kernel afterwards.
at least that is my guess.
thanks again.

That's the culprit there.
It's not the problem of recovery
The smart flash option is for ppl with SON and unlocked bootloader.. And as you said it retains the previous boot.img
As you are soff you should not enable it
.To disable smartflash go to tools in recovery there you will find the smartflash option
Also the latest recovery is awesome..
You just need to know what should be enabled and what should be not before using it

yeah, i know that now. there is just one thing: the disabling in the recovery did not work for me.
also: when the recovery is upgradet it asked if i am soff. i misclicked once, but didn't think much of it since it CLEARLY says "if you are not sure, choose no (s-on)".
the thing is it automatically activates smartflash.
the main problem for me was that it could not be deactivated from the recovery. the recovery said "deactivating smartflash" and afterwards "smartflash deactivated" but it wasn't :/
thanks anyways (i know the recovery is the **** i love it, too)

i really need help, ive tried everything and i know its fixable i dont wanna give up!
so any help will be great! in advance thank you so much! im loosing sleep trying to fix it this!

It's "PG58IMG.zip" not P"S"G58IMG.zip. If the name is incorrect, then it won't work.
You cannot do it from recovery, you must do it only from bootloader.
The reason I'm insisting on 4EXT is because it's much easier to use.
Follow my instructions properly.
And if you find all this difficult, just go to my tool, link in signature.
When it asks you to connect in HTC Sync mode with debugging enabled, just boot to recovery instead.

[Q] Stuck at CyanogenMod boot screen. Help pls!

Hi. I'm new to HTC Sensation XE. Yesterday I just decided to root my Sensation XE phone so I went to htcdev.com to unlock bootloader.
Everythings went well, I managed to install Clockwork Recovery to my phone and able to install Superuser.
Bad things happened when I try to install CyanogenMod 9 through Clockwork Recovery. I put the rom into SD card, boot into Clockwork and then wipe data/factory reset plus wipe chache partition. Then install ZIP from SD card.
After "install complete" i reboot my phone and now I see CyanogenMod logo looping and stuck there.
I still can get into Clockwork and try install other rom but the Cyanogen logo also comes back everytime and stuck there.
I just found out that I have to do S-Off ?? I have no idea what to do next.
My previous phone was Nexus S. I installed many custom roms on that phone without any problem. As far as I know if I can get into Clockwork Recovery, my phone has been rooted, right? So
What is S-Off?
Why I have to flash firmware??
ROM for Sensation compatible with Sensation XE?
I am not familiar with AROMA installer, is this the problem I can't install ROM successfully?
Now my phone in HBOOT says:
***UNLOCKED***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.27.0000

First, you should check the guide on how to flash roms s-on or something. It says you have to push the boot.img in adb, i think.
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
get the boot.img from the cm9 rom zip file
copy it to the adb/fastboot folder in your pc
connect the phone in bootloader to PC (phone should read fastboot usb after this )
now open command window in the adb folder and type this
fastboot flash boot boot.img
once it got success
type
fastboot reboot
your phone should boot fine now

SOFF: is security off ..once you got this off ..you can change any partition ..like you can install a custom recovery like cwm..over stock recovery ..and custom roms too
but ..HTC-DEV unlock ..is a alternative provided by the HTC ppl ..where when you do unlock ... recovary partition and partitions to make a custom rom work ..got unlocked ..thus this way you can flash cwm and thus custom roms ..
firmware:
to explain that ..think like this ..the complete phone is
hardware + firmware(radio +hboot/bootloader + some others ) + recovery (stock/custom) + ROM (system +data + boot)
now to have a ICS rom ..you need to have ICS firmware ..thus ICS radio (to have good signal) ..and ICS compatible bootloader to have ROM up and running
(remember if you have HTC-Dev unlocked bootloader you cant change the radio and hboot/bootloader)
as you are on ICS priror to doing HTC-dev unlock bootloader ..you are fine now ..as you already got a ICS radio (starts with 11.2x ..in settings->about phone->more->software information->baseband) ..also the hboot/bootloader 1.27.xxx is of ICS one ...
so you are fine with installing any custom roms ...
now there is a little headache when installing custom roms ..via custom recovery in case of HTC-dev unlocked case
some how when you flash a rom ...via cwm..every thing gets flashed except the boot.img which is the primary component to get the phone booting ...so you need to flash the boot.img separately ...that i explained earlier
there is a good recovery which can avoid the extra pain too ..that is 4EXT and the feature is smartflash
to understand the functioning of this recovery
have a good read of this thread ...its for you

Thank you. That's explain a lot. Now I can boot into Cyanogen and everything is fine now. So one last question, Am I have to push boot.img via fastboot everytime I install a new custom rom? If so, what to do when dealing with rom with AROMA installer?
I tried roms with AROMA installer and the installation ends at "SuperWipe". Nothing seems to install to my phone.

yes as long as you have cwm recovery ..you need to do that ..for every custom rom
and
thats why im saying its best to have 4EXT recovery ..as most of roms are 4EXT recovery compatible ..and what more its base is CWM itself ..so what ever backups you made via CWM can be used in 4EXT recovery ..too (and also its touch recovery )
for 4EXT ..recovery ..check the above guide step #2 for installing the 4EXT recovery
step #3 ..which has an amazing feature ..which will be quite useful to you ..(smart flash)
step #5 ..which makes the smartflash permanent

get the boot.img from the cm9 rom zip file
copy it to the adb/fastboot folder in your pc
connect the phone in bootloader to PC (phone should read fastboot usb after this )
now open command window in the adb folder and type this
fastboot flash boot boot.img
once it got success
type

Hey guys, I have tried to install Cyanogen 9 and I'm having the same issue described here - I get stuck at the Cyanogen 9 screen.
Can I get some help? I have tried to reinstall the boot loader as described but that didn't work.
I have also tried to reinstall the rom and that didn't work either :/
I'm really worried and would appreciate any help.
My phone is also a sensation XE I have rooted it and my recovery works with the 4EXT.
Thanks!

HTC Sensation s/w Brick?

my friend installed Rom from CWM and it stuck on HTC Logo (i guess boot loop)
after some research i told him to do
we found out that he phone is S-ON
is it possible to fix this kina of Brick?
i dont need links or something like that just a possible route how to fix it..
Thank you..
You have to flash boot.img from rom zip file from fastboot "fastboot flash boot boot.img" without quotes or enable smartflash in 4ext recovery... Do you have matching fw?

you may have to flash the boot.img manually
that's why it's not booting
in order to get S-OFF i need to install the Boot.img?
i cant just install Stock FIrmware (if possible)
and unlock Bootloader"?
S-OFF is a different story
i suppose you have already unlock bootloader
what fw do you have?
can i take Customize Rom Install it via CWM then install extract boot.img from Zip install it via Fastboot?

yes you can do it via cwm but i suggest you to install 4ext recovery.it is better
As you have cwm your bootloader has been unlocked.... Fastboot or 4ext recovery with smartflash enabled

it matters.
now with that hboot version you can easily S-OFF your device using this site
http://revolutionary.io/ after this you have to change your cid to supercid in order to flash whatever rom you want
if you don't want to do that:go again to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
flash first the appropriate 3.32 fw then the appropriate 3.33 fw and follow step4B in the link i provided you in my previous post
i should had asked you about your hboot version
i tried SEcond choice and not working maybe i cant install ICS
on the first choice i can enter Settings DEvelopment cause i dont have any OS installed

Did you take a nandroid backup before flashing custom ROM? if yes then restore it, if no then that was silly
If no then there are 2 things you can do:
1. Flash a GB ROM then S-OFF using revolutionary.io method
2. Flash a 3.32 or 3.33 RUU then flash custom ROM
Out of the two I would go with no. 1 because it will save you a great deal of headache later on because revolutionary S-OFF is easier and more user friendly than JuopunutBear
we manage to fix the Brick by using this Thread

[Q] bricked sensation xe, help

Hey i bricked my htc sensation xe while trying to get the Android 4.1.2 Viper S 3.1.2 Jelly Bean Custom Firmware rom. I followed this tutorial:
cannot post links because im new here sorry, its the first link when you google "vipers 3.1.2 sensation techbeasts"
this is my current situation: when i try to start the phone the green htc sign appears for a few seconds, then the screen turns black and nothing happens. i can access bootloader, fastboot (it connects to my computer) and i can access the recovery menu. when i open bootloader
this information appears:
*** unlocked ***
pyramid pvt ship s-on rl
hboot-1.29.0000
eMMC-boot
Mar 2 2012,18:14:34
this is how it happened: around 10 hours ago i had a completely stock htc sensation xe with Android 4.0.3. Because of perfomance issues
and my need to costumize stuff (years ago i had a jailbreaked ipod touch 2g and it was fun costumizing skins and adding tweaks ) i decided to
install a custom rom on my sensation xe, and i found the vipers 3.1.2 rom online. so i found a simple looking tutorial (link in introduction) to install it. i oversaw the little note that i need a ROOTED sensation and just started following the tutorial. after running into small problems i found out that i have to unlock the phone, which i did successfully with the htcdev website. after flashing the boot.img i was told to reboot the phone and it blackscreens after the htc logo ( it doesnt even show the quietly brilliant part ). its still not rooted by the way.
now i need help from someone, i am completely inexperienced with androids and would like to get my phone back to running, preferably with vipers 3.1.2 .my ideas are to either get it back to stock rom and try the tutorial again (this time with rooting it first ) or maybe to just root it now somehow and to carry on with the vipers rom installation. but i dont want to just go ahead and try it out and maybe hardbrick it. can somebody please help me out and tell me what to do?
You need to install custom recovery and flash a rom of your choice through recovery. The part with flashing boot.img comes after flashing the rom if your phone is not s-off.
Try finding some tutorials for all of the things I told you.

The first thing you need to do is to download an RUU rom for your senny, The n we could go through next step which would be installing it on the senny

your bootloader is already unlocked..then like what nlooooo said in the previous post.. you just need to installing custom recovery choices what ever you want from 4EXT, TWRP or CWM then after that you can installing any custom rom that you want..off course you need always to flashing that rom boot.img too after every installing new custom rom..
hope this can help..
