Hi everyone.
I've got a question for everyone out there. You know those FM transmitters that you can purchase for ipods mp3 palyers etc, is it possible to make our FM chips transmit instead of receive? Would be fantastic to use in the car as a music player through cars stereo via FM frequency and no additional cables etc...
Just asking....

No. It's hardware based, not software.
Please, next time post question in Q and A subforum. Not Development.
First of all WRONG SECTION
Second - No. You would need to open the phone and change the hardware and possibly the software too. So no.
Since it's illegal in France I don't think Samsung include it

No, it's not possible + illegal in many countries as you need licenses for transmitting.. However if you are so curious grab a wireless headphone and use it's transmitting unit that works as short range transmitter... (WORKED FOR ME ) but you CANNOT use Radio as a Transmitter coz Transmitter uses many other things (ask electronics expert)
SECOND - WRONG SECTION SO REPORTED.. You should use Google and not XDA. This is Android Development section and your question is not related to neither Android nor Development..
Come on, one guy is enough. He got the point. We don't need a whole team to do the bashing. just saying

Scammers never quit.
I hate fake videos.
hmm....does it work or not? lol
lol that video is so bad.
LOL!.. insane... unlock a car with the virtual keyboard and a code in the BEAM section in connections? xD!!.. insane...
close thread. (( nothing personal, but its a tech forum, news forum, KAISER forum, this is just OFF TOPIC, use off topic to post things like this ))
lmao.. i find this video so funny... first of all... all car alarm are encryped code radio not IR... if it was IR then that means that any one with a programmable house remote control could open your car... LOL
that guy probly has someone behind the camera with a set of back ups pushing the button for him...
but i am quite curious if it really does work though... i have seen a lot of """impossible"" things being done here so there is no doubt in my mind that some way or some how it is possible.
could anyone confirm?
I have tried the phone trick where you call someone push the button then it will unlcook the car and it works semi well. Takes a while for the car to receive it.

I don't have time to watch the video right now...but on the theoretical side.
It could be possible. The first generation Renault Laguna & Rover 800 series used IR central locking. I know as I've had these cars and what fun it was trying to get into the blooming things on cold mornings when frost on the windows blocked the line of sight for the IR beam, and the door locks were frozen!
My old Ipaq had Consumer IR, which meant with programs like Vito Remote it was possible to program it to work TV's, VCR's etc, so with the right software...
Now any modern radio controlled central locking or car alarm system is basically a radio receiver working on a rotating frequency. The keyfob has a mini trnsmitter in it, syncronised to issued the unlock or disarm command on a certain frequency. So it could be possible to program any transmitter to do the same job, but I don't see this being a big threat due to the millions of possible combinations!
This is what I was talking about, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_z4zX3BBHw&feature=related. I think that video is fake but I did it and it worked I was at school and my friend was at home sick and he left his car at school so I told him this we tried this and it worked.

Agreed its amusing but it is definitely way OT for the Kaiser forum, especially as we don't even have an IR port on the Kaiser
Renault Megane from 1996 can be opened with Wizard and remote program learned from the original key.
However it works for some time only. You can't open with the learned code after some time (eg. the next day).
It's all done through vnc right now so the latency is bad, but that's easy to fix by using a dedicated app.... window 0 is video, window 1 is the debug output from vnc, window 2 is the output from the daughterboard and also where you send commands to steer with. Using channel 1 and 2 for steering, channel 3 for tilting the camera (well, tilting the mirror) so you have 5 free for a manipulator or whatever. Also 6 slots for sensors.
I'd like to point out that unlike a Predator drone, the video and data feeds have proper encryption
Sorry for the bad quality of the external pictures: I use the G1 as my main camera and had to dig out an old webcam.
Code and schematics for the daughterboard available on request, if you want a built-up daughterboard I gotta charge you for it, though.

FUNNY!!! great work, would like to see a vid of this assassin in action
Thats fantastic!
Hey brutal^ he developed some kind of WMD thats capable of missile mirages or inceptions.
Can it fly though?
The problem is that if you want a "first person" video I can take it, if you want to see it go not so much because I have no other video camera than the phone!

It doesn't matter anyways, you can't move it. Just wait for a mod to do it
Let me get this straight. You have created a vehicle which is controlled by a G1 which itself can be controlled remotely? is this done by Wifi or 3G? Please post more details, it looks like a fun thing to do once I retire my G1, especially if I could control it from another Android phone.
Yes, the G1 is connected to a daughterboard that uses the serial port on the ExtUSB plug to talk to a microcontroller, which in turn can deal with servos and sensors. The G1 can be controlled with ssh (I prefer to work in linux shell land) and sends images back via VNC. This can be done through any sort of network connection, I tested it with 3G and it works, now using wifi because I don't have to pay Vodafone for airtime that way. Next step is to get better video feedback and port the universal autopilot I wrote for the Parallax Propeller onto the g1.
I'm sorry but I really had to.
That'd be the next thing, once this works well on land I'll put it on a motorglider. well back to work sorry for posting in the wrong forum!

No... android development is when you develop Android, not hack the hardware. This isn't any new ideas or improvements, it's just an interesting use for what we already have.
Don't get me wrong, I think what you've done is extremely impressive (weird, funny, and makes me say "Why???!?!," but impressive). Kudos to you for your work. It's definitely not Android development, but it's a simple mistake, which is why everyone on this forum isn't bashing you mercilessly for it like we do when someone posts a thread here saying, "Plz help tried to instal dis moto clik thing n now all i see is Tmobil G1." A mod will move it soon, so don't sweat it.
But seriously, dude.... WTF?!? inspired you to do this?
I make my money building ship autopilots and wanted to do something that you can buy with less than $100 if you already have a g1. Also, I think those rc-car-with-camera toys are spiffy but have very limited range, so let's do something about that
re developing Android, I think this will turn into a "you see what my camera sees and viceversa" application, which I am sure has been done already, but I need to make it work through ssh.
I dont care if its develepment or not (nor the whys) I think if you have the knowledge to build something like this, then why the hell not its fun.
And its about the coolest thing I have seen in a while
Is it possible?
1.Wrong section. Belongs in Q&A. With so many posts I'd think you'd know this.
2.Just buy a damn bluetooth headset on the web -_- there should be apps for it. Use google.

Anyways.
It is possible, look up Stereo Bluetooth Headsets. They support A2DP, look into that.
Make sure to check the rules of XDA's separate forums etc.
must it be stereo? i have a ps3 bluetooth headset...i asked in here b/c i didnt know if it depended on the rom..srry..just looking for a quick solution

It seems the blue tooth device must at least support A2DP.
someone should make a hack so we can use mono headphones as well... O well moving on...u can delete this thread sorry for any headaches.
I'm looking for the same thing. I hope somebody will solve it soon.
a lil late?
i dont know if this helps but i use the MotoRokr S9. The range is about 4ft max but it def works and the battery life of the headset will out last your g1 stock battery. This headset sucks for talking on the phone but it's great for media listening/viewing
Can someone please post a link for where I can buy a cable that will allow me run run video/audio out from my Epic 4G to my current 08 G35 TV screen via RCA?
When my lease runs out on the G35, the new G37 replaces the RCA video/audio in with USB. Can someone post a like for where I can buy a cable for sending video/audio from my Epic to the USB in of the G37?
Thank you.
Did you try the search button or the wiki? Or did you expect someone else to do that work for you? While we're on the subject, if you have the money to piss away on a G37, you have money to pay someone who knows what they're doing to set it up for you.
HAD you done any reading (rather than expecting us nerds to work for you for free) you'd see video is not happening (at least not yet, and possibly never). Audio is certainly possible, and VERY EASY, but if you can't figure that out you have no business trying to get wired into a car stereo (much less in a LEASED car).

epic. youd think after the 35 comparison thread between the evo shift and the epic this fine op created, this wouldve come up. guess you made the wrong choice tc!
edit. since hes duplicating this thread in the evo shift thread, im going to assume he doesnt own either of these phones or a g35. we'll see i guess when he posts pics.
I searched "RCA" and found nothing.
I own G2 and will be trading it in for a Shift or a Epic after CTIA.
I own a 2008 G35x and will be trading in for 2011 G37x.
FYI: My company ended up making the entire division take Blackberries.
Short answer: no.
Has anyone tried microUSB to TV/Monitor USB port for video and audio?
What happened?
Thanks.
After all day on the phone with Samsung, video and audio out to an external monitor for dual display is not possible with the Samsung Epic.
Shame on you, Samsung.

Know how to drive? LOL
Check my screen name.
My G is a taxi cab for during the week and for ski trips on the weekend.
My C6 and a 1k bike is for having fun.
I'm not one of the dillusional fast and furious that thinks any Infiniti is a sports car......or anything running slower than 10's is quick.
The only thing fast out of asia is a 1000+cc bike and a HIGHLY modified GTR/Supra, but I digress.
The fact that the Epic won't do AV out for dual display is still pathetic.
ppl, we gotta keep pushing on this. For the same reasons others have to get this working. Especially with netflix now working, to have the tvout option would be the cherry on top. Like many, its not to connect to my house tv but for my car tv!!!!! Big thanks and respect to the all devs out there.
Isimple makes some nice audio in devices. I just put one in my 3g acura TL to get an aux port on my XM button.
I had to go through a ton of crap to get audio on my g35 06 working, had to intall a switch in the dash to enable sat connection since there wasn't a simple jack built in and bluetooth didn't work. Was amazed. So annoying and basic and it didn't have it.

I have an 07 g35x. The best solution to streaming audio from Epic is a BT gateway.... there is no way to display video because EpicĀ“s video out is not enabled.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place.
A friend and I are restoring an old car and am thinking of doing something different for the dash, we want to see if we can use a tab for the main display but also have it removable and use it as the key.
Before I go into too much detail, is it possible to get or create software that can read the sensors that come from the engine?

Of course, it is possible. All you have to do is use Arduino boards with Bluetooth adapter and link it to your tab. I would recommend you to google about android car robotics or about arduino boards. I'm really not sure about the entire mechanism but I've seen such implementations. Keep trying and you would find a solution. All the best. :good:
P.S. Kindly search forums related to your requirement. This forum doesn't seem to discuss such implementations.
