When I click phone app, it says not installed - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed CM9 and latest Gapps followed by Dark infinitum theme. When i rebooted, I couldn't find android keyboard and phone app. I restored Android keyboard from titanium backup. Phone app is showing in installed apps but its not to be seen in app drawer and the shortcut says app not installed

flash rom -> flash theme -> flash gaps

Go to thread of that theme. It is a known issue. Long story short remove the phone.apk from the zip

How get access to my Gallery through the Camera app?

Hi to everyone
I just flashed Elegancia 3.1.1 on my Sensation and, I don't know why, the Gallery app wasn't installed by default. So I installed the gallery from the Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moblynx.galleryics&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tb2JseW54LmdhbGxlcnlpY3MiXQ.. and works great.
The only issue that I have is that I cannot have access to the Gallery app through my Camera app. When I am taking pictures with the Camera app of the rom I am pressing the small icon on the down-left side of the screen to open the gallery (probably you all have this icon too) but the gallery doesn't open.
Any ideal how can I connect these two apps?
Thanks in advance
Did you chose to uninstall it while installing the ROM when you get choices to uninstall apps?
I'm running the same ROM and it works fine.
I believe you can reinstall the ROM like you did the first time just make sure you don't click the gallery while installing so it doesn't uninstall it.
You won't have to wipe either since it's the same ROM so you don't lose apps and settings. Just wipe cache and dalvic then install ROM.
Thanks for the reply valefour
I thought that that list in the beginning was for the apps that you want to be installed on your phone not for the apps that you don't want to be installed.
I just did what you said and you are right. Now its fine. Thanks
No problem.

[Q] can't sideload apks after rooting

Nexus 5, 4.4.4, dalvik runtime. Currently on cyanogenmod 11, but this problem started prior.
I rooted my phone, initially to run xposed framework. I actually got it installed and opened, but I noticed I couldn't install any modules. Uninstalled, tried to reinstall, found I couldn't sideload any apks. Cancel button works fine, but install button does not respond to touch in any way.
Everything I have tried:
Rebooting
Unrooting/reflashing stock
Rerooting
Using various apk installers/file managers. They all still bring me to the install screen where I can't push install, so they're unless
Clearing caches (dalvik, package installer)
Making sure all screen filter apps are off
Making sure all security options are correct (do not verify app, allow unknown sources)
Flashing a new Rom entirely (cyanogenmod)
I'm at a loss. Are there any options left to try that may fix this?
First, root has nothing to do with your issues. When you say install button doesn't work, what install button are you taking about? And how are you trying to side load an apk? Are you using an app, recovery, or what?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Do you have echo lock screen notification installed?
#stayparanoid
Unfortunately I can't post an image of the install screen because I'm still a new poster. I usually just try to install apps by navigating to them in my file manager and clicking on them. Nothing special. The install screen is the default holo one that pops up.
Welp, turns out it was Echo Lockscreen. That's a massive bummer...loved that app! Thanks Pirateghost.

[ZIP] Google Pixel Dialer v5.1 & Pixel Contacts v1.4.22 [N]

Hi,
Today I am presenting pixel style dialer and contacts app for moto e3 power. Its a flashable Zip. You can easily flash it using TWRP recovery.
INSTALLATION:
1. boot into recovery
2. flash using recovery
3. reboot
4. Enjoy
NOTE:- after zip installs give dialer all permissions. then go to settings and set google phone as your default phone app. now you can disable/uninstall your stock phone app
Special thanks to Mark at tech for posting.
GOOD LUCK:good::good:
As you said it requires good luck I think and I don't have it.... I installed using twrp and it like just installing apk file nothing replaced with the original one and nor running a phone if older app is disabled

[Solved] OnePlus Launcher Update failed after downgrade.

When my Oneplus 6 upgraded to Pie, I hated the new horizontal recent apps switcher, so I found this article detailing how to revert to vertical. I saw in update logs that the new app switcher has been optimized and improved especially for gesture navigation. I decided I might as well give it another try. I downloaded the latest version of Oneplus Launcher from APK mirror, but when I tried to install, it said "App not installed." What do I have to do in order to get the Launcher to update? I'm on a Oneplus 6 running OOS 9.0.2, rooted with Magisk. OnePlus Launcher version 2.5.1.180803161901.ff750b1 is installed alongside the latest Nova Launcher. If I try installing any version of OnePlus Launcher past 2.5.1.180803161901.ff750b1, it says app not installed. I have Titanium Backup installed if that could be used to fix anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Infixed it with a dirty flash of the ROM. I always have it on the phone in case I mess something up.
While your at it I might just aswell update to newest firmware.
I'm about to upgrade to 9.0.3. Would that do the trick?

Yupp.
From twrp
Flash ROM
Flash twrp reboot to twrp
Flash magisk. Done.
From OS.
Run update, let it install untill it asks you to reboot DONT reboot.
Go to magisk manager
Search for module "A/B twrp" you Will have One module.. , install it, don't reboot.
Go to magisk first page, install , install, install to inactive slot (After OTA) now your done. Reboot
Updated to 9.0.3 as per instructions. Still on the old launcher version. Still says app not installed when I try to update to the latest APK.

Try uninstalling updates on the launcher through app settings?
Or
Install any launcher (Nova) and install App Remover from play store. Developer is jumobile. You must be rooted. This will allow you to uninstall system apps that are otherwise unable to uninstall. Uninstall OnePlus launcher, reboot phone and then install your app.

There is no uninstall updates button for OnePlus Launcher in settings.
Uninstalled with Titanium Backup and successfully installed the latest apk. Unfortunately, now the multitasking view is broken. If I open it, sometimes it says "No recent items" and other times I get a error message that "OnePlus Launcher keeps crashing"
Restored the backup I made of the downgraded OnePlus Launcher I had so I have a multitasking screen again. Guess I should have made a backup of the original OnePlus launcher before I downgraded...
Launcher still will not update.
I've had an idea. Could someone with Titanium backup make a backup of the latest OnePlus Launcher and a Backup of OnePlus Launcher with updates uninstalled, then post the files?

Boot TWRP with 9.0.3 and twrp zip on a USB otg. Or with it downloaded on a computer. Format data. (The one that makes you type yes)
If on a USB otg, go to install and select your USB storage and install 9.0.3 add zip to que and select TWRP. Reboot TWRP and repeat.
If no USB otg make sure you're connected to a computer and transfer over the mentioned files and undergo that process. This should put you on a clean slate and maybe you can get the launcher your want
Fixed with a data wipe and fresh ROM flash.

[APP] OmniJaws Weather FIXED V 1.1

Omni Jaws weather app
fixed no weather data error
Note:
This app is one of the system app of Aosp, RR, Omni Os, dotOs and etc. ROMs, it may not work on all versions of Android.
If you encounter an error during installation, you must uninstall the previous version
and sorry for my bad English
Hamid from Iran
edit : files removed and u can download new updates from here
Thanks
I've been trying to update omnijaws. It doesn't update, so I've been trying to uninstall it, without success - with warden, titanium, system app remover and link2sd. All them fail to uninstall. So now I can't update it, not even have access to the one installed on my phone.
Someone can give me some help with this?

1-download the attached apk file
2-install it.
If it does not install, you will need to uninstall the previous version and try again.
(This operation requires root access)
I'm in a rom that doesn't have omnijaws, and have installed your app. All working good. Thank you
There's some way that put it to show on lockscreen?
And there's a way to install other icon pack? I've tried downloading one, but it doesn't show on the app.

Yes from this way settings > extensions > lockscreen > lockscreen ui , you can enable it. And for icon pack you can search the Chronus icon and install it.
With Android 10 (crDroid 6.10) it doesn't work, the default launcher crashes. After a long search I've found the OmniJaws app 1.09 from here. It has a lot of weather providers and runs fine. The default OmniJaws app 1.0 has stopped to work since yesterday. You can easily update without uninstalling the standard app.
In order to prevent launcher crash don't use @Hamidltf 's APKs in the 1st message! Finally, @Nobby1960 's solution saved my phone from launcher-crash after the installation. imho, the first message should be edited with the latest OmniJaws APK: https://github.com/vladrevers/OmniJaws/releases

It is not retrieving location and the last update time stays disabled any fix already tried clearing cache and storage still no luck!?
