[Q] Remote Backup - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I am looking for a Remote Backup Application I can configure and push using my Google account and the Play store.
I would like for the ability to install it remotely using the store and have it automatically run and backup all of my photos and video to a remote server via ftp or another protocol.
I would like for the configuration to be built into the app so no configuration is needed on the phone.
The concept is like the Plan B app to retrieve the GPS location of the phone but instead do a remote backup.
Does anyone know of an open source project I could use and compile or a program that may meet these needs?
Thanks in advance.

Best Password Manager App??

Any suggestions? Would like something that I can use both on my phone and on my computer that will sync together easily.
I came across KeePass and SplashId. Anyone have any experience with either of these? Or any other option for that matter?
thanks
I don't know about those, but I've been using LastPass ever since I found out about it. I love it and don't see a reason to ever change. It has computer-browser addons for all browsers (at least the main ones i.e. Chrome, FireFox, IE, Safari, probably Oprah too). And it automatically syncs with your online account.
I'm using keepassDroid and keepassx, synced via Dropbox. Note that you need keepass[x] V 1.x on the PC for full compatibility. Syncs easily between Android, Windows and Linux.
Definitely LastPass:
it stores all data remotely, so you don't have to sync between devices
it has WWW interface, so you could access your passwords even on a PC without LastPast installed
it has application for Android
it has plugins for many desktop browsers and for Dolphin Browser for Android. These plugins are awesome - they auto-fill forms or even auto login you, they detect registration forms and ask you to generate and fill password automatically, then save your new site, etc.
It's free to use on a PC, but if you want to use it on Android, then you have to pay 1$/month.

I would stick to keepassdroid and dropbox. Keepassdroid is open source and available for nearly every platform. I use it for more then 10 years now on different platforms and never had problems. Import and Export is available too, in case you need data migration, which is real problem for some other apps which lock you in...

That's about right, I also use keepass combined with Dropbox.
Im also using keepass in conjunction with dropbox (encrypted with truecrypt).
I'm was wondering if any of you who are using online password keepers ever wonder who can access your personal data when storing it online. I would be sceptical to this....

Another vote for Keepass and Dropbox.
I use it on 2 computers (Windows XP and Windows 7), an Android phone, and an Android tablet.

And you store your personal data on a Dropbox, so online - right?
I use LastPass and I really like it. It encrypts/decrypts data on a client side, so 3th party doesn't have access to it. Actually this is exactly the same as Keepass + Dropbox solution, but fully automatic, with browser access, etc. I was using Keepass previously, but LastPass is much, much better.
I use Password Safe
I use SplashID.
My favorite AndroXplorer v.3
I use SplashId, it works just fine for me.
On Android I use KeePass with DropBox.
Otherwise I use LastPass.
I use Catch! Used to be calld 3banana. Best note application I have found, been using it for months now. I have it set to use a 4 digit PIN to log into the app.
It may not be your cup of tea for managing passwords, but it's how I like to manage mine.
Hope that helps!
I use one password, syncs with dropbox and is compatable with everything

I'm not sure if this is what you're interested in but I use Cryptnos.
This has been a telepathic transmission from the Outer Limits
I use keepass drop and dropbox. It is great.

I recommend 1passwords because its awesome and they have Dropbox sync .Besides they have a pretty awesome interface

[APP]Boardies Password Manager

I have uploaded my first app on to the Android Market and haven't too much interest so far on XDA so I thought I would post a little bit more information about the app.
This is a simple and light weight app that allows you to securely store and easily login to different websites on your phone.
Do you have all your passwords saved into your devices web browser meaning that anyone who has access to your phone can log on to the websites that you’ve accessed. Do you regularly wipe your phone for whatever reason and get annoyed at having to keep typing in your username and password. Then this might be the app for you.
The app will store all the login information that you enter into the app, which include the company name, the web address, username and the password. Each login is listed on the front screen. If you click on the stored login it will load the website and copy the username to the clipboard allowing you to paste into the username field. Also, when you launch the website from the app it will also create a notification. Once you have copied the username you can then click on the notification to copy the password. This way you do not need to switch to and from the app and the browser to copy the login information. Once you have launched the website, the copying of the username and the password is done while the app is running in the background.
All passwords that are stored within the device are encrypted using AES encryption algorithm to ensure your data is safe.
To protect others from accessing the app you can enable a password that needs to be entered before getting access to the app. Also, for added protection you can enable a feature that will automatically reset the app back to first use if the password gets entered incorrectly 3 times.
The app enables you to backup and restore your stored logins to a file on the SD card of your device. Should you need to wipe your phone, or if you get a new device and want to restore the logins onto your new device you can use the file that was generated from the backup in order to restore your data.
Although the App has Internet Access this is only there to enable you to submit bug reports from inside the settings menu and to enabled adverts to support the app development. I promise you, know personal information that you store inside the app is sent over the internet.
The App can be found on the Android Market. There are two versions, one which is a free ad supported version and a donate version which is identical to the free version but doesn't show ads. Please search for Boardies Password Manager.
Thanks
A new update has been released today in order to enable support for Android 2.1 and up. Tests have also been made to ensure that the app works correctly on honeycomb

Remote access

Is there a way to control your PC from your phone remotely? So like I can manage downloads while at work and whatnot?

CyanogenMOD 7 v1.1 (Gingerbread 2.3.5)
theres like 97268466 apps to do this. just search the market for remote pc or something. i use pocket cloud and team viewer, but there are tons of vnc apps, log me in, and i hear theres since rdp apps in the works.

Here's what I do for remote access:
- Download and install VNC software for your computer. I use Tight VNC. Make sure you use a password for incoming connections!
- Forward ports 5800 and 5900 to the PC you want to control. This is done in your router. You'll need to know the local IP of your computer. You can google this if you don't know how. It should be something like 192.168.1.100
- Download a VNC viewer from the market. I use Real VNC viewer. It's expensive, so I'd try a few free ones first.
- Find your public IP address. You can find this in your router or google "Whats my IP". There are lots of websites that will show you what your IP is.
- Fire up that VNC app on your phone, enter your public IP and the password you set and you should see your desktop.
A few notes:
- You can set a static IP for your local computer. Chances are this will not change too often.
- Your ISP will change your public IP every so often. You can pay for a static IP that does not change, but I do not. Mine changes every six months or so.
That's about it. Good luck!
There are alot if apps for that, but the one I used didn't work out so well.

phonemypc is the easiest to use that I have found.
Install on your pc and setup your own login and password. Install app on your phone and enter that same login and password.
You can control multiple pcs and you don't have to mess with any ports or pc settings to get it to work.
I will second phonemypc. Have used it for over a year now, very nice.
Story once was my wife couldn't get teh mouse to work on the desktop and needed to print something. She called me, I brought it up on my phone and printed it for her. just one time I really needed it.
Teamviewer is my favorite

Freela API existing app. I pay!

Hello i really like your app, but i need function that app take database from server via internet, because i will update database ones per day and i need that database updated without updating whole app. Is that possible?
This app does not use server API for loading data. POI are loaded from local SQLite database so you don’t need any server. We would like to create add-on for REST API .
I pay!

password manager for apps?

Hi,
I have some apps that I have forgot the password to.
The apps still works but if I want to access the content using my PC I can not since I forgot the password.
Is there a way to extract existing passwords.
To stop this from happening in the future is there an password manager that automatically saves the passwords that I create for the different apps.
Or if there are no manager that does this automatically one with as little effort as possible would be good.
Also it would be nice If this manager auto-fills the username and password because I have some apps that automatically logouts.
Is there a manager that is freeware?
I do not know of a way to extract a password from an app that is logged in, that is mostly because the app does not store your password, but a special has that has your login information session.
However, going forward you can use something like LastPass to store your app passwords, it will prompt you to save them when entering, and you can use it on your desktop as well.
