I played modern combat 1. Hated it, but I heard they made a lot of changes for the second one. I won't be buying it though unless it starts getting major praises from multiple people/blogs... or if it drops to a buck or something.
Samurai II is a really amazing game. I was very on edge about buying it too, but decided to take the risk and get it. gameplay and graphics are fun and amazing, but I do wish the game was longer. If you enjoy a good game, then I think its worth it, but be warned its not very long. Who knows... you might not like very long games
Lol for the price of these games they should be decent long although we can't have everything. Lol thanx for the thought I will probably buy samurai this month and wait for more opinions on modern combat...

I bought Modern Combat 2 and after trying several times to play it I uninstalled it. It's a well-meaning attempt of this type of game, but just like trying to play an FPS on a PSP, it is way too difficult to get around and shoot accurately. You really need two analog joysticks for this type of game. The only game I've played on PSP that does this type of thing well is SOCOM.

Agree. It's a shame too because on my wifes iPoo MC2 is buttery smooth.
I love modern combat 2 almost like a newer version of counter strike in the palm of your hand. samurii 2 basic hack/slash game it looks cool as hell when you finish off an enemy. I own both

Modern combat 2 is awesome.live play is even better... I had this on my sgs.not yet on my g2x... Imo.modern combat is better especially multilayer..
I have Modern Combat 2 and gotta say it's a good game...after you get past the whole "how do I control this damn thing bit". I had the same problem trying to play FPS on a console after years with a keyboard/mouse. It's just a learning curve thing. (although I did have to change it from the default setup)
I do wish there were more controller alternatives for these new games though. HDMI out and a decent bluetooth controller would be sweet...
Samurai Vengeance looks good...might have to pick that one up too.
I have a Vibrant, g2x, ans a Sensation, guess which one lags the most while playing Bakery Story? My new Sensation, FML it is annoying me like no other, meanwhile my sister who is using my Vibrant it smoothly sailing away with no lag... It's almost unplayable, we are talking about a good 3-4 second delay in all button presses and thats IF it actually picks up the button press at all... anyone else have this issue with any game or is it Bakery Story only issue ?
OH yeah if you play bakery Story add me my id is: WeBake****
I was 70+ on the Restaurant, Bakery and Farm Stories on my HD2, running on the Froyo rom thanks to the kind people here on xda. It was smooth and almost flawless.
I just switched to Sensation and my all Stories, including the new addition City Story, lag so bad that I am contemplating to quit.
Is it an issue with Gingerbread? or just the Sensation?
Question
Here is a question to ask though. All of those devices you mentioned were single core, correct? If this is the case then perhaps that game is not optimized for a dual-core device. I have never played it so I couldn't tell you this is true. Just my observations. Another thought is maybe it is having a problem with that qhd resolution. Those are two things I would think could potentially mess with it.
Cheers!

Being a owner of the Motorola Xoom, I can tel you its just that the app needs to be optimized for the Sensation CPU/GPU. You have to remember that not all phones work alike, and with dual core, the way the processors work are different from single core, so you will see a lot of app-updates to accommodate the new dual core phones and tablets. its also a good idea to inform the developers so they can release a fix. Bakery story is not an graphically intense game, and the dual core CPU's in our phones can run this easily once it is optimized correctly
I second the opinion that the game needs to be optimized. I had NFS Shift on my MT4G, which ran flawlessly. When I tried to download it to the Sensation, I got an "Unsupported Device" message.

Nvidia has been better due to it being easier for the developers to optimize there games for. Of course Nvidia is going to own every other processor manufacturer when it comes to gaming. They have been doing it for years.
Any word on a fix on it?

Bash the G2x all you want bUT the first and foremost purpose for this superphone is it was meant to be that portable all in one gaming gadget.
Playstation tried to do it, and many companies throughout the years have been trying to bring such a device to cater to gamers.
And as of right now G2x is second to none as far as pushing polygons around with it's Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset.
This is the whole purpose for G2x, Nvidia is huge in the PC gaming market, and when they release their Quad Core Tegra chipset I'll be there.
G2x most awesome gaming cellphone. PERIOD...

That's exactly what I use my G2X for and it does it well. However, if someone besides HTC makes a phone with the Adreno 220 with the proper drivers, it will be able to push more polygons than the Tegra 2. Notice how I said someone besides HTC? They cant optimize or code drivers for ****. I would actually like to see Samsung take a crack at it because there really isn't anything right now with the graphics power the Adreno 220 has. In the end however, its all in how its packaged. I cant wait to see what Tegra 3 brings to the game.

Sure, it's great at pushing polys, but without a d-pad and other real buttons, it automatically sucks as a gaming device. Buy a PSP/3DS/DS if you're looking to do any real mobile gaming, not a G2x.
Sony was definitely on the right track though. What they should do is take the specs of the Vita, put them in a slimmer Xperia Play form factor, add Android, a PlayStation Market app, and a slot to take Vita game cards and you'd have a true all in one mobile device. Kinda like n-gage...

But the HDMI support coupled with the Tegra 2 in this device is wicked. Haven't played one game on it yet, since I'm not usually into app games. But I may have to test it out to see how the gaming is from phone > TV.
I download a lot of free trials (search for ... lite games ... for tons). I always read the comments before downloading. You see lots of various old devices as not having the horsepower to run them, to be expected. Some of the newer games really require at least 800 + mhz.
You also see a lot of problems with Sensations and Samsung GS II devices. Both of these are being fixed quickly from developers, very quickly by some of the better paid apps. I don't see a lot of issues for G2x's.
Reading the comments and looking at the updates being pushed should confirm this to anyone.
I think its mostly because Nvidia obeyed all the specifications of the standard design better, and did more testing to makes sure games work better. Afterall games are what feed the employees of Nvidia. Tegra simple a better CPU for the job.

I agree with every single point in this post. I don't like phone gaming outside of emulators, and even then, I use a BT controller (PS3 or Wii controller) to play games, because it lacks buttons. My PSP and 3DS get much more game time then my phone.

It was just a question to your observation. I only felt like reading through one of the games you mentioned which was Asphalt 5. I see multiple devices with problems including Tegra powered devices. Its not a game play issue with the Sensation. Its a downloading issue. Everyone says it wont download the additional data to play the game. I don't think the problem has anything to do with the CPU/GPU. That's just my observation.

Why you continue to troll on a phone that you have already sold is beyond me. Why you would not read what the developer said first is ridiculous if your weren't just trolling.
It reads:
What's in this version:
Fixed issues with HTC Sensation, HTC Evo 3D, Samsung Galaxy S II, MyTouch 4G Slide
If you have problem starting the game after update, try to restart your device
The Nvidia chips, as usual, run games easier, and faster. Not shocking, just another example.
As I said I download a lot of free samples, the Sensation, Evo 3D and GS II, Dual cores that are not Tegra comments are frequent. There are plenty of other patchs being release for the same chips.
Hello,
Just got a new HTC one X and I feel that the gaming performance are much worse than expected. On GTA3, it's not that smooth and feels a bit laggy. On Soulcraft THD (a free beta game on tegra zone), it really lags everytime you kill an ennemy (some particles pop at this exact moment). Even Teeter is not smooth! What's going on?
This is really annoying, especially given the specs of the CPU/GPU.
Do you guys have the same problem? Is that a software issue that might get fixed by HTC?
Definitely a software issue.

Riptide GP is great aswell in my opinion. If you like racing. The maps get a bit boring after a few dozen times though
Disappointingly, I find virtual pool mobile, which i was playing successfully on HTC windows mobile devices years ago, is not playable. Fast moving objects just become a mess and unplayable. Disappointingly again, it plays perfectly on the galaxy nexus.

After 2 weeks of usage, i can say that this initial ROM (1.26.xxx) is beta, nothing in it is optimized, and the list of Bugs is huge. HTC just wanted to be the first to market, and in doing so they decided to sacrifice customer satisfaction
I would expect such a thing from Samsung, not HTC
I believe however that the potential of this phone is much higher than the current, let's wait and see how good the next HTC ROM will be

Every launch is the same.
When the HTC Desire came out, the HTC hero was smoother and faster. Eventually, sofware became better and the true potential of the Desire was realized.
When the HTC Sensation came out, the HTC Desire was better and faster. Eventually, sofware became better and the true potential of the Sensation was realized. (About now, a YEAR later, some of the newest kernels out there make the sensation shine.)
Now the HTC One X is out, and my Sensation is smoother in almost everything and the battery lasts longer also. But if history is any indication of things to come, that won't be for much longer. Remember the One X hasn't even been out for this long.
The One X is loaded with capable hardware. Give it a bit of time, this device will rock.

Reminds me of the first experia device I had with sony erricsson. The X10. Also lots of potential but the software screwed up the phone. Later custom roms fixed that, but I expect HTC to fix all the issues we are having.
So my g/f just got the One X (previous iPhone user), and I was just happen to re-read a review on it from Gizmodo and there was this update to it
UPDATE: After more extensive testing there's something a little weird going on. You'll probably only see this while gaming, but there's a little bit of stuttering that happens. You really notice it in games like Temple Run, where the processor seems to get a little overloaded and it misses a finger-swipe which kills you dead. (I tested it with a Galaxy SII, to make sure it wasn't the game itself, and it didn't have that problem.) There are some other anomalies, too. In Samurai II: Vengeance, when you're in a melee battle with a ton of enemies, sometimes the controls get "stuck" which sends you walking endlessly into a corner until you restart the game. Or sometimes it just misses key strokes.
It's troubling. If we had to hazard a guess as to what's going on, it seems that the new Snapdragon S4 processor may be the culprit. While it doesn't really have this problem with the One S, it has many more pixels to drive on the higher resolution One X and the EVO 4G LTE screens. It seems to strain under the weight of driving those pixels while handling a lot of graphics processing at once. If you don't game of your phone, you'll probably never notice this issue, but the big, beautiful screen just screams to be gamed on, so it's a shame. We're looking into it and will follow up.

Just wanted to know everyone's experience with the Snapdragon processor? I plan to get a Galaxy S3, and this troubles me.
I have noticed a few slowdowns here and there but nothing major and I'm sure it can be remedied in a few software updates.
Its smooth as butter
Once in a blue moon it will stutter for a split second, but that is expected, everything tech does that
You have to keep in mind that this is the first phone to use the S4 processor. There will be huge optimization issues, much like the ones currently going on with Tegra 3.

I think its unfair to downgrade a rating or such just due to a game or two not working at those peaks. My Wildfire back on Alltel [before merging into AT&T] was so poopy it crashed the second day I had it. And this wasn't the wildfire some of you might know, it was... worse.. ANYWAYS, Boohoo, a couple games dont work right. Personally, I've played dozens of my favorite games with no lag or issues. Not EVERY game on the market is going to able to play on every phone. Especially since the phone hasn't been out for more than 6 months. I'd think around that mark dev's would update the games/apps to be fully compatible yeah? Otherwise... Eww I cant this computer game on my Mac, It must suck ;].
Yeah i'm guessing there just needs to be some optimization for the new processor.
I get that stuttering in Asphalt 6 HD
I thought it the phone over heating, but it happens even when cool...
Never happened on previous 3 other android phones...
