Hey guys,
since a few days my Sensation XE has some random wierd sound issues. Its nearly the same as the sound issue on the HTC One X ,which got fixxed by a hotfix (i think today or few days ago) by HTC ota update.
I found a thread in the One X forum, which explains it really well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584053
A hard reset wasnt helping either. It still has this sound bug.
I am running Sensation XE stock Rom with Sense 3.6 and ICS 4.0.3 with T-mobile as carrier.
Is this a common problem on the XE and is there a fix for this?
Its really hard to hear any music, because this stutter is really hurting my ears sometimes.
The HTC support told me to get use of the garanty, because they have no idea.
I would likely stay at stock ROM if this is possible, because i am a big noob to Android Phones and rooting and i dont want to mess things up.
with regards
Mydy
[EDIT] Its not Beats Audio. If i disable it nothing changes. Sound bug is still there. I am using stock music app. Using PowerAmp hasnt helped either.
So i am still here and i didnt find a solution.
I tested this problem with an other SD card, but the problem is still there.
I am now also considering to root my phone, if someone knows if it will fix it (maybe because it is a known bug with Sense 3.6)
P.S: help me

You can give it a try if you feel crafty!
I will give it a try =)

i will post more if i know more
So... I tryed this method in a different way. at first i used the musicplayer without a backcover. Soundbug still there.
Good thing i had two different backcovers for my sensation i exchanged my backcover with a new one. Soundbug still there.
The next day i tried hearing some music (i thought i would get the soundbug like i did before). But i DIDN'T! It is completly gone now. I dont know why. I had the bug with exchanging the backcover. Then over the night it was gone. I still believe that this bug is still there in a weird way, but maybe i am just a bid paranoid >_>
But i am still thinking that something is wrong with my phone.
Now some of my pictures i had on my phone are getting distorted, like half of the picture is green and a bid shifted.

Well I have been reading about all the sensation problems, and I hoped to god when I got mine it would be perfect.....it was not I have had the phone for about 19 days and yesterday the sound just stopped, I tried restoring, headphone jack fix thing (that only brings it back temporally), turned on the fm radio, pulled the battery, completely drained the battery and let the phone sit overnight.
I noticed that the phone somewhat laggs on the dialer like it will not press any of the numbers but when it does and makes a call there is no sound on the call nor does the mic work( I have tested this from another phone)
I have no idea what to do Please help xD and if you can not then Thank you for trying I believe it is just a bad phone..I have to resort to my beloved HD2 for the time being. I am not sure if this is software or hardware I just want to use this beast of a phone xD
Thank you again
Is this under the right category?
Yeah you're in the right category. Thing is there's already a few threads about this issue. There is no definitive fix, only workarounds so no sense in staff a new one. Best bet is to file a complaint and request a new one as a replacement.
For future reference try out the forum search function.
Thanks sorry was in a rush xD

You don't. There have been NO updates to the tmobile version.
Hey guys,
Anyone else getting an issue where the audible selection tone sometimes will not make a sound when phone is left idle for about 3 seconds? Usually it works fine, but like stated before if you leave it alone for a short period of time, and you make a selection, theres a tiny faint sound, almost muffled.
It's not a software issue as I've installed other stock roms to test it out so its definitely a unit issue. Problem is the guys at the store I bought it from refuse to acknowledge that this is a defect or just plainly plead ignorance to even consider taking it in for inspection.
Can anyone else relate or even have a solution? I'm probably going to end up selling it and buying another one since I got it for a prett-ay good price in the first place.

Mine does it to, it did it on stock and also does it now on Virtuous Unity, so it seems to be a phone bug not software, i'm really starting to dis-like the desire S and now wish i'd stuck with my old desire
Got the same problem, maybe that HTC will fix it in a update.

Thanks guys.
It seems that this is a universal problem with Desire S's. Yet I couldn't find a mention of this anywhere on the interwebz. Then again, finding anything on the Desire S is hard enough (keep getting just Desire results). I managed to finally root and flash virtuous unity (cause I'm the ultimate Android noob) and the issue continues to persist. So yes, it's definitely NOT a software issue.
I just had a chance to play around with a friend's Desire S and his phone has the same issue...but to a lesser degree, so I'm wondering perhaps the severity varies among different phones.
Is there anyone else with the same issue?

I have found a way of getting the sound back by loading a game, then using the volume button turn on the sound to full then leave the game with audible sounds
I just got my Sensation like 3 days ago and i have had a few friends when talking to them tell me i come in muffled and have a hard time understanding me. Has anyone else have thier friends say this? I would think with the dual mics and noise canceling this phone would have perfect voice quality. And is it possible for the rom/radio to affect this?
Are u running the latest fota

No i am running:

Virtuous Sensation v.1.1.2
I see they release 1.1.3 today but i dont see anything about voice quality.
Is it ok on stock / another rom

A friend who called me right after the OTA upgrade said I sounded terrible, and that I never sounded terrible before. "S" sounds are impossible to hear. I mean impo ible.
O, when I call omebody, thi i what I ound like.
I would think this topic would have some legs. Either everybody here is on a custom rom or everybody is too busy playing with the update to notice voice calls are crappy on the other end.

Yajinni, I've had the same problem with my HTC Sensation since purchasing it 3 weeks ago. People tell me I sound muffled and like I'm under water. And other times it's clear for a moment then goes muffled again.
I'm still also looking for a solution and will post here if I find one. Please let me know if you manage to resolve it too.
Best regards,
Lex
Do you guys have some kinda protector case on your phone? My old lady did before and I couldn't ever understand what she was saying when it was on her phone

hi guys, i am on mike's Revolution ROM, with the same muffled voice quality as described. It may not be something easily detected (since you can't hear your own voice!) but it is definitely a real problem.
Desperately searching for a solution, if there is one.

in case anyone is interested... voice quality issues with the previous radios/RILs have vanished with the new base!
Yes me too, muffled voice on both my Sensations so far, although the second one is marginally better.
Hello all,
I got a strange problem with my Sensation XE, which causes me headaches.
I recently updated my stock Sensation XE firmware to the official HTC release of Android ICS, after i got notified about it.
Everything went well, and there were no problems upgrading whatsoever. However after a couple hours, i faced a weird problem.
The sound stopped working in apps like youtube, soundboards etc.
The strange thing about it, is that the media volume is on, also the stock music player works, and it seems like there is nothing wrong. After restarting the phone everything works fine again for a couple of hours.
Things i already tried:
- Googled it, to see if others had the same problem -> no solutions.
- asked a lot of other HTC sensation users if they encountered this problem.
- Searched this forum for solutions.
Also, i'm not using the stock headset, but a Beats Solo HD, with the remote which came with it. Is it possible that the phone gets confused or something?
Thanks for any replies in advance!
It's a known bug, and there's no fix as of yet.
Well that sucks, ah well, hope they'll fix it soon. Thanks!
I have a non-rooted Sensation Z710e running Android 4.0.3 and v3.6 Sense.
Since upgrading to ICS it's been unstable. Getting worse I think, with more frequent restarts. Never did that on GB.
Yes I can do a factory reset but since apparently I'm not the only one with this problem, I thought this would be a good place to ask if that actually solved the problem for those who did that.
Separate (NOOB-level) but related question: Is there a problem that with every one of these restarts, the Android 36-step install happens?
This seems stoopid and takes forever to get he phone operational each time. It's not like it's actually pulling down new updates.
Note I did check for other threads for this and none specifically met my issue's criteria.

@ NorrRadd My advice to you is to go and download RUU either from football links or from HERE Flash your phone with the software, your problems sounds like bad Upgrade. Anyway it is original software so you want make mistake. You know how to use RUU ? (If you dont...
1.download the file
2.Run the .exe in windows
3.Connect your phone (USB)
4.Follow the instructions on screen )
A lot of people have been having the problem. I called HTC and my warranty isn't up so I can send in my phone and get a new mother board. The rep confirmed that they have been getting lots of complaints about this problem.
I tried this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622683 and have been going 3 days without a shutdown. I have never been able to go that long before. I just used a piece of notecard and wedged it in there. Worth a try and of that doesn't work call HTC if you have had your phone for less than a year.
Thanks all. I will look in ruu and having HTC look at it as it's still under warranty. Will let you know how I make out.
Thanks again.
