Pure AOSP or CM9 with HTC kernel source? - HTC Sensation

Since HTC has just dropped the 3.0 kernel source for the Sensation, is anyone working on a pure AOSP ROM? Not a de-Sensed ROM based off the One S leak, or a CM9 build with drivers hacked in from somewhere, but a real built-from-source ROM.
I'm thinking of taking a crack at building one, but I didn't want to duplicate someone else's efforts.

Sorry, yeah, I forgot about OpenSensation. I might clone the repo and play with the new kernel anyway, just for kicks. I haven't really tried to build Android from scratch before, but I'm a pretty good C/C++/C# programmer, so it might be fun to try.

No problem m8, i found another one the virtuous team work(ed) on a AOSP ROM too.
But i donĀ“t know is it is still supported: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428866
Just keep on going, its allways nice to have more developers woring on the Sensation!

I just managed to build OpenSensation with the HTC kernel source and boot it on my phone. Now it's time to play.
Well, it's a start!

AOKP
For the record I'd like to say that there is also AOKP, which builds on OpenSensation, which builds on CM9 repos, as far as I can gather.
I'm currently running b31 (b32 came out 2012-04-16) and most everything works. There are a couple of features missing from b31 that I used on CM7.1 Alpha, (like Quiet Hours), but they appear to have been added in b32.
If you're looking for something AOSP, my suggestion would be AOKP.
They pack Nova Launcher as an alternative to the stock launcher, but I uninstalled both and went with APEX, which IMHO beats both on customizability and unintrusive interface. YMMV however...

[Q] Pure AOSP Gingerbread for Desire S ?

Hello,
Is anybody cooking a pure AOSP Gingerbread rom for our Desire S?
I hope so.......... i want CM7 so bad, but apparently, no one else wants it
I'm sure there's a number of users who want CM (myself included). Though majority seems indeed to prefer Sense UI.
BTW, did you vote here http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/21647-htc-desire-s/?
Well i'd prefer an Oxygen rom, got it on my old Desire it is the perfection. Maybe AdamG will do the job, who knows.
Well, this is not what I have asked for!
Pure Gingerbread experience is what I would like to run on my Desire S...
Otherwise I'd stick with Sense!
Yes, I miss the old Nexus One days...
Though I hated the trackball so bad.
My Desire got run over, so I have a Desire S on the way, I want ASOP damn it

This phone can run CM9 w/ no problems. Feb has proven that to us. It's going to go to a 4.0 Source code drop of this phone, or the DHD to get it before we see a stable build for it.
This is pretty exciting news imo. Any indication the CM team hasn't forgotten about our device, the better. I am curious about getting into the nightly routine but I have really liked using TDJs KANG when I use CM. Mostly because I almost always get better battery life on his kernels.
On that note, does anyone know where to download the Darkside X kernel he packaged with the 7.2 KANG? The kernel thread he links to only has 12 and 12.5. I can't find it in the my touch forums for the life of me. The only similarly named thing is in his new Samsung device forums but it clearly states in that thread that he compiled it from Samsung code so that can't be the same one he bundled with our KANG can it?
I supposed a more experienced user or amateur dev can extract the kernel from the KANG and make a flashable version so I can use it with the nightlies; but I would never ask for such a thing.........

I think they didn't want to just throw away CM 7.2 before jumping into CM 9. Plus there are certain things that don't work, such as the camera, that I don't think the CM team would push out a build without things like that working at all. I doubt we'll see a stable release before HTC drops any ICS source code.

Nope, nothing resembling a kernel named Darkside X for glacier. Doesn't seem like anything on there was updated in the past 2 months though.
There are 3 possibilities I see as to an explanation.
1 - the kernel is 12.5 with almost nothing different. Enough to warrant a different version title but not enough to establish hosting it as it's own new thing.
2 - it's the Samsung kernel and it's compatible with the mytouch (doesn't seem likely but his kernels have magically been cross-compatible before [g2] so who knows).
3 - it's a current version but mislabeled. That seems so unlikely from what I know of this dev that I won't even entertain such an idea.
I haven't noticed a world of a difference from this "darkside x" kernel versus the kind of performance I got on the 12.5 so I will just pretend the darkside x is some anomaly and be more than happy with using 12.5.
CM9 is way to far from a lot of devices, only devices getting official nightlys are the nexus phones (crespo, toro and the new galaxy nexus ) thats why they are developing cm7, cyanogenmod needs to re-write all the code becuse google makes a lot of changes in ICS

THANK You !!! Good to know MT4g is still getting support.

LOL at you not liking AOSP ROMs LMAO what do you think that CM9 is?
AOSP = Android Open Source Project. It is when Google releases the source code to a particular version of android (GB, HC, ICS) and this source is adapted to your device by usually taking existing kernels (or kernel source code) and drivers for your device and making the Google source code run, pretty much without many additions..although, if you like spice, you will find it in an AOSP ROM. Asus' Stock ROM is also based on Googles source, but then Asus is not obligated to release it's proprietary source (what it adds to the OS that Google AOSP ROM did not have, bloatware, drivers, etc). Therefore what we are able to do in a ROM based on Asus' is limited compared to what can be done in an AOSP ROM. Some are stable, some aren't..it isn't a function of it being an 'AOSP' ROM lol it's just how developed or underdeveloped the ROM is. CM9 for TF101 is way more unstable than CM9 for my Epic, they are both AOSP and from the same source even, and they run differently- because they are at different stages of development and being developed by different teams of people.
Don't be so quick to scoff at AOSP ROMs..they are not all the same, and nothing in the term 'AOSP' means 'unstable' or otherwise anything to be afraid of.

Ok thank you very much for your perfect explanation. But why do you say that CM9 for TF101 is unstable? In the relative thread i read that the users are very satisfied by this rom.
Dont lol at me! hehehe
I know CM9 is AOSP.. that was the first and only AOSP Rom I ever tried..
I'm not scoffing AOSP Roms off I just didn't see the advantage but I didn't know that Asus doesn't release it's proprietary source.
Don't be so quick to lol at people apart from that it was a good reply... I might give them a go again in the future

This.
Stable mod = EVERYTHING working.
There's some pretty hardcore limitations with bluetooth and camera recording.
Kudos to them for still trying.
We won't be getting any CM7 updates, as all dev has switched to ics/cm9.
There is a pretty good cm9 build going in the dev section, open sensation, and the main guy in that thread + some others are working on getting stuff merged in cm repos.

cm9 is being improved for sensation everyday. try the opensensation rom by vorbeth, its a cm9 rom. vorbeth adds his improvements to the rom, everything else is pure cm9. btw, many of vorbeth's mods were added to cm9 for sensation, he is doing great work!

I'm searching from some JB AOSP rom. Clean without any mod or tunning.
Yes, for S4.
What is the link?
Thanks.
Too many links to post but you got CM10&10.1, AOKP, Blackbean, DarkJelly.
But CM and others are tweaked roms. Not exist a clean & basic AOSP rom?

CM is the cleanest one you can get, nobody has done a pure AOSP rom and don't see much point in it myself but then I already find CM a bit plan anyway. Just give it a try you might just like it and it not like you have to use said tweaks.
Indeed, theres little to no point with a pure aosp roms. Hardly anyone wants that, it doesnt make any sense when the "tweaked" ones are so much better.
If you want a pure aosp rom, you'll probably have to build it yourself.
I'm running the latest CM10 nightly and like it. Too me, CM is the closest you'll get to pure AOSP without buying a Nexus. I recommend trying it out.

Thanks!
Is there any official or unofficial site to download AOSP roms? CM10.1 has laggy when touch, so frustrating...
