Hi Everyone,
I've been searching around the Skyrocket forums but I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.
Does anyone know where i can get a heimdall version of the Stock AT&T Skyrocket Rom? 2.3.5 or 2.3.6, I won't be picky at this point. I've seen the Odin version, but I'm running OS X and have had no luck trying to run Odin via Parallels.
Thanks, Tim
no heimdall support for qualcomm msm8***, which unfortunately, the skyrocket has. Ur out of luck my friend, u need a PC, or u can use bootcamp

Hi,
I have searched and searched for an answer to my specific question and am having NO luck.
To start, my Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (on Rogers network) came stock with Froyo, and I hastily upgraded to Gingerbread (2.3.3 is what it's currently running). I tried to root the phone using Odin and Gingerbreak, both with NO success. It just hangs up for hours, doing nothing. Not rebooting, just hanging there.
My questions are:
Can I root this phone, despite its having been upgraded to gingerbread and isn't STOCK gingerbread? and if not...
Can I revert back to Froyo somehow?
Keeping in mind, this phone has NEVER been ROOTED.
Many thanks in advance!!
couldn't you use odin1click to flash stock 2.1 and upgrade back to froyo using Kies thn root with superoneclick? dont take my word for it though! lol im still a lil bit noobish
The member by the name of trusselo is the one you seek. If i remember correctly he has all the stock rogers odin one clicks in his sig.

Hi, I have a SGH-i727r (Not the Skyrocket, its the Canadian rogers variant) running on the stock 4.0.4 ROM from rogers, and i was thinking about rooting my phone recently, and I have found this method,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
but I am not sure if it will work on 4.0.4 since it only says 2.3.5 and 2.3.6
some other people on the forum seems to claim it works, but I never saw a result posted for the version & model of my phone.
By the way, if this doesn't work, is there a method that would, or simply an easier method such as SuperOneClick?
Thanks in advance
The easiest way is probably to install the modified room
They are always rooted out
Thanks but can you go into detail on how it works?
Sorry, I am new here
I own a ROGERS s2 LTE sgh-i727r it has ics and i want to root it so I can use titanium and or cwm to perhaps install cyanogen
Why can I not find simple dam instructions on how to do it for my exact device? I had it rooted prior to the ics update but now the simple 1 click root programs don't work.
I hate all this and just want to find a simple exe to help me root so i can go forward. I know about comps (I am a university comp science student) and the truth is I just want simplicity for this.
Can someone link me or direct me to USEFUL info plz. Hell I can't even find rogers devices on this site. Only a at&t skyrocket similar mdoel

It seems like the AT&T Skyrocket and the Rogers shg-i727r are interchangeable. Follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427268

Hi, i'm helping a friend root his skyrocket. Its running 4.0.4 and all stock. He wants to run cm10 on it. I found this for Team win recovery for the skyrocket. If i flash that through odin, and then flash cm10 will i be good to go, also cm10 comes rooted? I have a verizon galaxy s3, and had a droid x, both rooted and rom-ed so i have some knowledge of rooting. Thanks for your help guys, xda never let me down
Also, in that link should i flash through odin the openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-skyrocket.tar, or the .img? I believe they are alike, but i think odin only uses .tar.

first read the stickys
everything you need is in the stickys
look above your post in the q&a forum and read "read this b4 posting" thread
So my dad and I both have the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE Skyrocket from Rogers; I727R. A couple days ago I updated mine via Kies from Gingerbread 2.3.5 to Jellybean 4.1.2. Today I tried updating his (also GB 2.3.5), but once I connect his device, Kies says it already has the latest firmware.
Is there a way around this? I explained my situation to Samsung Support over the phone and the representative's suggestion was that "even if someone had the exact same phone model and carrier, the update could be rolled out at different times." And I was advised to just wait. Hasn't Jellybean been out for a few months now?
I tried a hard reset on his phone and it still didn't offer any firmware updates. Can anyone help? Thanks.
If Kies does not work for you, read the stickies. In them you will find all the directions to use Odin to update your Dad's phone. You will also find in there all the files you need to do it. Good luck!
