Hi, I have a SGH-i727r (Not the Skyrocket, its the Canadian rogers variant) running on the stock 4.0.4 ROM from rogers, and i was thinking about rooting my phone recently, and I have found this method,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
but I am not sure if it will work on 4.0.4 since it only says 2.3.5 and 2.3.6
some other people on the forum seems to claim it works, but I never saw a result posted for the version & model of my phone.
By the way, if this doesn't work, is there a method that would, or simply an easier method such as SuperOneClick?
Thanks in advance
The easiest way is probably to install the modified room
They are always rooted out
Thanks but can you go into detail on how it works?
Sorry, I am new here

Hi, been reading here for ages, but n00b videos and such have stopped me joining, but now I feel confident enough to move up to a custom ROM with instructions I'm able to follow.
I have a Galaxy S currently running JVQ Europe, although I'm in Australia.
I'd like to use MilkyS MOD but have a question or two first.
Will this go on JVQ?
Lagfix: Am I right in assuming that if I haven't added this, it's not there?
You talk of two versions, Odin and CWN, would one be easier for me than the other?
Please be patient with an old man. I did manage to root this phone when I upgraded 2.2 with 2.3.4 JVP, then JVQ, and I managed to get them on OK, I also changed the region code to Europe ..... but that's the extent of my "knowledge".
As far as I know, although I rooted JVP, I haven't rooted JVQ, so my phone isn't rooted, does this mod root, or need rooting first?
Thanks, Billy
if you post in the galaxy s forum, im sure you will get an answer
I am trying to find a working Rooting method for Android 2.3.4 on LG phones.
I have tried out some of the popular rooting methods including gingerbreak but they do not seem to work. Anyone has had success with rooting Android 2.3.4 phones? My searches have not been successful in finding any good results, so I am asking here. Thank you in advance.
You have the wrong idea. Rooting a device is not brought in general - like saying once a phone has a certain android version, then all android phones with that software version can be rooted (This is the idea you have which is wrong). Different devices may take different methods to be rooted. Like, Gingerbreak may work on the nexus s, but may not work on some other device running Gingerbread. And to answer your question, yes. Many people have rooted android devices running 2.3.4 (and just for your information - ALL android versions so far can be rooted).
I have a MyTouch 4g, running 2.3.4. You wouldnt happen to know any ways to root it, would you? Thanks man
you can try http://revolutionary.io/ select myTouch 4G Slide it may work on ur phone but as always no guaranties do it on your own risk, some more links:

Well usually different phones have different methods to root the, just google it with the exact name of your device and you will get how to do it....!

Um, unless I missed a memo, then your phone has already been rooted because the MT4G has not been updated to 2.3.4 via OTA officially. You may be running a custom stock ROM that reads as 2.3.4 though because some people just want the stock look without all the bloatware (Telenav, TMO TV, etc). So, download Root Checker from the Market and see if it tells you that you have root. If not, then you shouldn't be running 2.3.4 yet.
Also, go here for everything you need to know about rooting and installing custom ROMs on the MT4G: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=796

The maker of the phone isn't terribly important. The model of the phone is - such as Optimus or G2x.
In the upper right corner of this site there's a box for "find your device..." type in your phone model and it'll take you to the forum for that particular phone and you'll be able to learn all you need for that model. Best of luck to you!

Hello experts!
I would like to add up to the other related threads and ask for development (roms&root) for the Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 4/5.0 PMP. It's related to the SGS as you know, but even with android market a lot of apps, like supercurio's Voodoo control, or other PMP-relevant apps are unaccesible on this devices. They will get released soon to the US (hopefully) so I hope they'll become popular enough for developing.
Thanks!
You have to root these players with superoneclick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Thanks, I'll try it. This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17236337 other workaround doesn't seem to work, someone else tried that.
Can Galaxy S WIFI be rooted? I am thinking of buying one if it has been successfully done.
yes, i've rooted mine with superoneclick
let's see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1141893
SuperOneClick works for getting ROOT. Just make sure to have USB Debugging on and Kies not running.
Bump!
This device really needs the attention of developers, etc.
The U.S. version currently runs on 2.3.5 and can not be rooted for some reason.
It can also not be downgraded to the rootable 2.2 firmware for the international versions! This could be a great device for people who don't want a phone, but it needs to be rootable. Please help!

I have a US Version running 2.3.5 GINGERBREAD, and you can root it using "DooMLoRD_v1_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su" Google it. It is also on this forum.

Yes, me too and you might want to give it the right name - it is the Samsung Galaxy Player 5 without the S (the S probably confuses some as there is no way to use it as a phone).
I have a custom 2.3 ROM on my international player and I rooted it fine with super one click.
AT&T Recently updated the Skyrocket firmware to Gingerbread 2.3.6. Does anyone know if the Easy Root will still work for this or do I need to downgrade to 2.3.5? The reason I ask is because on one of the tutorial sites someone commented that it did not work for them after the update. I was going to try but didn't want to risk it until I was completely sure that it was not a user error and that it would work with the new version. This is my first Android device; been a BlackBerry man for the last 2 years.
If this is so, what is the easiest way to backtrack to the older version of the software.
Thanks!
No easyroot will not work u need to use this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
OK Well, I guess I should learn to do in the other way anyway.
Thanks!
I couldn't find a solution too specific to my phone, but was mostly just wondering, Does anyone know if the newest CF-auto-root is compatible with a Canadian SGH-I337M; Ver 4.4.2; Baseband VLUFNE1 on the MTS network? if so, where is a safe download source of the .tar?
And if not if there is anything that is compatible? Keep in mind im not looking to flash custom roms, i essentially want root to use rooted apps and all the devince freedom that comes with it. essentially a basic root. Also Ive previously rooted my S2 and an old motodroid so theres no need to review the rooting process ive got that down.
Thanks, any and all advice is appreciated!
