Samsung Galaxy R is not such a widely used phone (can't seem to figure out why), hence, the low compatibility rate.
and i guess there is no other way to Root or Unroot your phone (just yet) without flashing via Odin. However no one's stopping you from trying other methods... Just be on the safe side and keep backups of everything.
P.S. : You won't void your warranty if you flash Stock Firmware or the CWM via Odin... And anything done by the CWM doesn't increase your custom counter so you are good to go for the warranty...

Thank you mate..... But, If I flash CWM.... will I be able to get back to stock recovery.... If yes... Could you give me a link for such guide.....

You get back stock recovery when you re-flash your fw via odin. If you don't want to reflash the whole fw, just take a recovery.img (or recovery.bin - I don't remember) from .tar package and create a separate .tar file for it -> and flash via odin.

Just flash the Stock ROM. It will revert back everything.

flashcounter question

Ok so basically for what I understood ny some reading is that when you use ODIN to flash ROM's you get the flash-counter +1 and bye bye warranty.
Can the flash counter be reset ? if so how do you do it? is that done by flashing back the stock ROM?
Thanks
right now the only way to reset the counter is with uart. I am sure this will change down the line but for now that is all we have.

I saw uart mentioned before but still having a hard time researching it. Care to explain how do I go about obtaining and using one?
Just to share my experience. I flashed rom two times until now and my counter is still to zero. I never used Odin to root or flash.

Did you use Odin to flash CWM?
I know once you have CWM you can just flash the rom. zip through recovery (and don't need to use Odin).

Rom counter does not trip with stock Samsung firmware
I used Odin to root and go back to stock after using multiple roms, still at zero on counter

[Q] Galaxy Ace Died after installing CWM with odin [please help]

Hi,
Please help me.
I tried to install CWM in my galaxy ace using "Odin".
I followed correct steps and odin showed "pass" at last.
but now my phone is not booting.
It will load upto "GALAXY Ace GT-S5830....." scree and nothing is happening after that.
I am not able to boot into recovery also now.
How I can recover my phone back?
Please help me.
Flash everything back to stock with Odin. You should make sure repartition is checked before flashing. When you try to flash cwm through Odin, redownload the files and try again.

Thanks for replying, but sorry to ask you one more doubt (may be too n00b qn.)
what do you mean by "flash everything"?
where I can get all those files for Ace?
Sorry took soo long to reply, was at work. Can you post a link to the method you used to flash cwm? Just want to make sure I point you to the correct firmware.
I have used the method at
acetips.wordpress.com/2011/10/01/install-cwm-ace-froyo
As it didn't worked, I used some other "ops" file, which brick my phone.
Can I use any samsung upgrade method ( as I have done earlier in my sonyericsson w8 using SEUS) ?
Or how can I fully flash and make it alive?
Try this...!
Hey no phone dies so easily, so, follow the process mentioned in the given link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
You know how to use odin get you ops file and further download the stock rom on
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
thanks friends.
But now I am not able to get into the recovery mode. will it get fixed after flashing the latest firmware?
What is the really working method to get CWM recovery for ACE?
It should work again if u flashed the stock because the stock recovery is included in the stock rom =)

my phone is still not turning on, even after flashing stock firmware using odin.
How can i get it back?
my ace is now alive
Thank god!!! at last, my phone is alive.
Now dear friends, do u know any guaranteed to work -cwm flashing methods for ace?

Before you flash CWM Recovery, you need to ROOT ur phone, download upd_1.zip file from the link that I provided in the previous post and flash it from Stock recovery.

I agree. Though not totally necessary, it does help. Also enable adb.

Is it possible to root without Odin?

I have a Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus, and I was able to install CWM and root it using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379532
Flashed CWM and root through stock recovery then just installed the SuperUser app from market. That was it. Seeing as this is a Samsung device as well, why does Odin have to be used to install CWM/root? Using Odin means your flash counter goes up... doing it through stock recovery did not cause my counter to move on my Tab 7.0 plus.
bump bump bump
This is an interesting idea to me. Can anyone else confirm that this method works? I've got a Tab 2 10.1 that I've been really holding back on rooting, etc because of the ODIN flash counter not being able to be reset yet.
I'm curious to see how this turns out. I may have just found my in if I can do it through the stock recovery
Hopefully we'll get TriangleAway someday, which will make this an non-issue. We already *almost* have Mobile ODIN.

[Q] How to uninstall clockworkmod recovery?

I have a galaxy tab 2 7.0 [GT-P3113]
I just flashed cwm recovery on it and rooted it, I've just wanted to try and uninstall clockworkmod and go back to stock recovery, I searched everywhere but I couldn't find anything for my tab model.
I'm running android 4.0.4, didn't flash any ROMs yet.

Thanks, I have some questions because I coudln't post a reply to that post.
-I live in egypt and I bought my tab from the US, this rom is for the US so should I flash it normally? (will I get the OTA updates)?
-should I backup my data and so? (sorry it's my first device)
You should get ota's as its 100% stock. As far as flashing it no need to backup anything. You won't have root or cwr to use your backup. Flash via Odin and you should be good to go.

*I done that for my Galaxy Ace, I believe should be the same.
reverting back to Stock from CWM all you need is Odin and stock firmware which able to obtain from sammobile.
flash is with stock ROM via Odin will bring everything back to stock. *after flash, make sure swipe your data & cache OTHERWISE it will stuck and become boot-loop.

I did flash the stock ROM and recovery via odin, and it worked perfectly, thanks for the info thought because once I forgot to wipe data and it was stuck on boot-loop till I reached recovery mode.
I meant isn't there a normal way to go back to android recovery without flashing new ROM?
Can't really have stock recovery AND root... seeing as you install root via CWM
Besides you can do way more with CWM over stock.

getting back to original recovery from twrp recovery
i have karbonn smart tab 10 (cosmic) .i have installed twrp recovery on my tab. but i cant find any zip files when i go into recovery and twrp is not working properly.i cant even root my tab. i want to go back to original recovery.please help.
Do you have a P5100 , P5110 or P5113 ? It don´t sounds like!
If not - don´t use this files! This might brick your device!
If you don´t have a P51XX you need to find a Stock-Recovery or Custom-Recovery for your Device.
If you have P51XX download and flash a StockRom - or extract the recover.img inside the XXX_HOME.tar.md5 and make it Odin-Flashable using this tool and flash it with Odin.
Help me pls

Request : CWM recovery for stock recovery JB

since i cant access to my odin someone had a flash-able clockworkmod works with stock recovery?? so i can install a custom rom thanks !!
for p3100
You can't flash anything with the samsung recovery. Only updates. Odin is the only way.
do one simple thing! install kies from samsung website. then attach your device with your pc. it will install adb for your device! now your device will be recognised by odin!!! flash as many things u want then! be sure to close kies before flashing with odin

If you are rooted, you can download ROM manager, it will install cwm without the need of a PC, but again that's if you are already rooted.
