Hi guys,
I have a Virgin Media Hub (VMDG480) and 3x WP7, a HD7, a TITAN and a N 710.
I'm having some serious problems with connecting to the internet.
I connect to my WiFi and it works great, I can go to wherever I wish.
However when my phone locks it's screen and I try browsing again, it just fails, it says We're having trouble displaying this page.
I've restored my router to factory defaults.
I've hard reset my HD7.
I'm still having issues. Is anybody else having similar issues?
I don't really wanna call Virgin Media 'cos they're all useless and they will tell me that it's my devices.
Also, I just managed to load google after 2mins, and I checked my IP and it isn't the same external IP as my router. Do WP7 default to 3G if the WiFi connection fails?
:-(
Yes, WP7 will fall back to the cellular data connection if it's unable to access the requested server over WiFi. The fallback typically takes no more than 30 seconds, sometimes less.
Sorry, didn't even realise I had a reply.
Thanks for that answer, anybody else had issues with the Virgin Media hub and WP7?

I have had my Fuze for a couple of weeks now and with all of the smart phones that I have had before this have all had the same issue for which I could not figure out a solution for it is a weird internet issue
some of the error msgs that would come up would be from opera and it would say something like "could not find proxy server" or "network problem"
when it tries to connect to the data network. But note that it can connect to the data network just fine just no use of the internet on the device for apps like Opera, Fring ,ect..
For example when I am using my device to surf the internet or something. after a while lets say I want to check an email or something that requires the use of the data connection for some odd reason the device wont connect for anything in the world it will just say can't connect to network. I have tried many trouble shooting techniques even actually listened to an att rep and followed their directions. But to no avail, I often turn to my last option hard resetting the device restoring the data and hoping that the issue will not come back. But it does after a while.
Now here is where the twist comes in.
I am still able to get a internet connection to my ipod touch via wm wifirouter 0.91.
so that is where the true issues comes in I can use the internet on my ipod touch via wm wifirouter but not on the actual device its self.
if anyone happen to have any advice or what not please feel free to send it over it would really help me out and others as well of course and if not at least this issue can be looked at by a future scientist for a possible cure
Im having an odd problem, where windows live does not seem to attempt to use the default Internet Connection settings on my device. I am connected to the internet, via 3G, i can download emails, browse the web etc. However windows live does not seem to want to use this connection. It signs in fine over wifi, but as soon as I disable wifi and try to connect directly over 3G, it fails.
The odd thing, is that it doesn't even attempt to open an Internet Connection over 3G before it fails. I would expect the sign in process to try and open an new connection but it just displays a connectivity error. I suspect it is trying to connect over an invalid connection, though there seems no way to tell Windows Live to connect over a specific connection like you can with regular mail.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I might discover the cause of this problem? The only change of note I have made before this error started was to setup an Exchange account with Googles sync feature, however I fail to see how that could be the cause.
Welcome to forums
Try reinstaling live messenger or use another version
It would help a lot to know what device you have
Sorry, thought I had my specs in my sig. runnign and Xperia on Stock Aussie ROM (WM6.1). Have tried reinstalling but to no avail...
I have the same problem with my Palm Treo Pro on Telstra Next G, and all effort so far have been fruitless, my main problem is that when the phone goes into sleep mode so does Windows Live/Messenger rendering the whole thing useless. No such problem exists with my Nokia 6120 which connects Windows Live thru Next G without issue. Just about ready to go back to Fring which also had no Next G problems.
hey guys,

Hi kincawine3
I have the same problem. I live in the Netherlands with Tmobile as my carrier, full data plan etcetera.
I installed android 2.2 my wifi works, my internet doesnt. It says 'connected', it even shows the right icons in the taskbar, but no internet.
I tried erasing my apn settings and resetting them and I tried factory settings but to no avail. I ringed Tmobile about it and (as was to be expected) they couldnt help since they suggested the above.
Help would be immensely appreciated.

First of all, make sure you're not set to a static IP (which i assume you're not).
You might also want to check a different kernel. I'm not familiar with the kernel used in your build so i couldn't tell you what to expect - but there are 2 kernels running for the HD2 (hastarin's and mdj's). you can try to use them and see if it helps. the older builds had problems with ppp which are now (more or less) fixed.
read the instructions on how to replace the kernel and let me know if you run into any problems.
Thanks Nir
Hi,
While i do not share the problem of no internet access, the connection drops off regularly. Why, but more practival how do I fix it?
I can often see the signal switching from 2G to 3G to HSDPA, perhaps this has someting to do with the connection going dead. Is there a way to keep the signal fixed on 3G? Like there is an option to only maintain 2G connections.
When i go to Settings and disable + enable internet access it works fine. Sometimes the connection goes dead every five minutes, sometimes rarely.
Facts: HTC HD2 WinMobile 6.5, Android 2.3 via SD card method.
Unlimited data plan.

Samsung Galaxy IIS Skyrocket sghi727, ANDROID 2.3.5, Kernel 2.6.35.11, baseband I727uckj2 Build Gingerbread. AT&T network. WiFi worked ok on Home system and allowed phone to connect/transmit/receive data.
Now, it scans and identifies the Home system but gives a WiFi remembered message then a WiFi Disabled message. I can not connect the phone to the home WiFi network. I have ATT DSL with Speedstream 5600 modem and an "N" router. I have "G" appliances connected and running as well at the same time.
The home modem and WiFi system are working well (I'm on a laptop using WiFi now). I have checked the password and it is entered correctly. I have tried to "forget" and re-enter the Home system WiFi info to no avail.
I used the Skyrocket's manage applications to try to stop some of the apps that I wasn't using (Social Hub, for example) but they keep reloading. I went to the apps pages and drag/dropped those I wasn't using...they are still showing up as being in place (and taking up space) but that didn't appear to get rid of them either.
I tried a reboot. No change. Other than ATT's general disagreeableness, and my lack of knowledge on this operating system, what's causing the problem and how can I fix it? If I have a file that isn't loading or an app that isn't loading, how do I replace/repair them? What files & apps MUST run to use the WiFi?
Thank you for your assistance in this matter, I have read all the "WiFi disabled" links that the forum suggested prior to this posting.
Kev.
Hm, have you tried connecting at any other wireless spots? If you can connect to other wireless routers I would try resetting your router, see if it can connect to an all-default wireless router. If it can't connect to any wireless routers, well, you can either try flashing a different ROM or, since I get the impression you're not into rooting/flashing/messing with your phone, just take it back to the store and make them give you a new one.
I thank you!
I will try that though it was working at work the other day.
If someone has another idea, I'd like to hear that too.
Cordially,
Kev.
WiFi disabled: Solved!
OK, I finally figured it out. I had read all of the WiFi posts on the thread that mentioned WiFi & disabled. One from 2006 was for a different (ancient) phone.
My GF has an old XP desktop PC which is connected to the network via Ethernet cable. For some undetermined reason, when it hooks up to the home network, it locks any new system that is not running out. If they're up and running when it boots up, everything is fine. If they're shut off or the WiFi isn't connected, they're locked out.
The solution is to get rid of the old PC. The 2006 poster said that his phone would not connect to his WiFi if anything else connected at a different speed. Evidently this is a related phenomenon.
(At least I didn't mess the thing up!)

Hi there.
Just got a new HTC Titan on WP7.5, and it has come to my attention that annoyingly, whenever I try to download anything from the Marketplace through 3G, it sticks on the "Downloading..." screen. However, when I attempt to do this via WiFi, it downloads without trouble. I've had a look at a couple of threads with this same problem and there doesn't seem to be a true fix available for Windows Phone users. I've tried hard resetting the handset to no avail, and it's worth noting that the content I'm attempting to download is under 20mb.
Secondly, I seem to be having a problem connecting to Facebook/WLM Chat; on 3G, it connects successfully, displays online contacts and receives messages. Only problem being that, given about 30 seconds, it will randomly disconnect me. This leads me to have to resync both my Facebook and Live account for the chat to work again... for another 30 seconds.
Again, this works flawlessly when done through Wi-Fi - so you're most likely thinking that it's down to the network, right? Well, the browser works just fine on 3G at all times, so I'm unsure whether to blame the ISP for this one.
Any help would strongly be appreciated.
