For the last week or so have been getting random shutdowns, especially when swithching from GSM to 3G.
But Ive started to notice random battery percentages, changing all the time, dropping 20% at start up.
Anyone else??
Cant wait to order a Anker 1900 this week...

Stop suggesting this as a cure for every problem anyone has on any ROM.
Your advice is going to screw someone up badly.
You are suggesting he changes half his firmware, a technique only proven not to screw up OrDroid ROM and well proven to screw up pretty much every other ROM, but you've ignored that he is using Android Revolution HD.
Your firmware swap has been specifically proven to louse up ARHD. So don't suggest people try it!
Plus, he's not having any of the issues that swapping HBoot versions will supposedly cure. You've done testing on how HBoot versions affect battery temp only. You can't suggest that people try it to fix battery calibration and reboot issues. There has been no testing on that. And trying a firmware hack to fix things it's been untested on is really risky.
DjLukeW, the first thing to try is a full battery calibration to see if that helps with the screwy battery percentages. It'll take a few days / charge cycles to cure it if it will work at all.
I'm betting the reboot on network swapping is not related. Does it happen when the network automatically switches? Or when you physically change it from GSM to 3G?
Either way it sounds like something is either screwy with the ROM or the radio.
I'd try reflashing the 3.32 firmware with the radio again. AND ONLY THE 3.32 RADIO AND FIRMWARE, NOT THE 3.12 FIRMWARE HACK THAT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED. Maybe something got wacky when you put it on the first time. That will let you keep the ROM and settings in tact.
If that doesn't work, try reflashing the ROM and see if there's a glitch from a borked install.

It helps to know what rom and kernel you are using...

First off I want to start by saying I have flashed my rom to Bamf 1.5 remix. I do not overclock my phone however I have tried limiting my clockspeed hoping to prevent a reboot. The phone did not start the random reboot until I flashed to said rom. I have tried reflashing but no improvements, any ideas?

It has happened to me but I believe it just me OCing, flashing back to the kernel that I was using before when my phone was stable and testing it out. If not, I will just go back to 1.5
Also, does anyone know how to edit the power control widgets in the pulldown? I can't find any options. Thanks.
Did you flash the new radio when you loaded up BAMF 1.5?
If so, there's your problem
Happened to me with BAMF 1.6 and leankernel 192X, but only when I set it to ondemandX thru SETCPU. Other than that I've had no reboots.

yeah its pretty common for people who flashed the new radio to have reboots. i have had some of those issues, i found that using different kernels at different clocking speeds made my phone more stable. NOTE: i am not a pro, just something i noticed.
What's really behind all the random reboots?
OK... So I've tried just about every rom on the dev thread, I purchased the TB on launch date and had it rooted as soon as Jcase posted S-off instructions... I am now on the new radio and until today, I haven't had a single random reboot. Then all of a sudden, just about an hour ago, as I'm backing out of Tapatalk, bam... Phone rebooted itself...
Now I've been reading on just about every rom thread where people have been experiencing random reboots. Some think the new radio is the cause, but some people are on the new radio and have not experienced this. Others on the old radio still get random reboots.
Others think its the rom but people have noted this issue on most If not all of the rom threads.
Others think its the kernel that's causing it, but again, there doesn't seem to be any pattern to nail it down to a single kernel. Furthermore, some of these people are not OCing, myself included.
Which leads me to the strangest part of all this. My wife also has the TB. Her phone is totally stock and is not rooted. I got it for her day after launch and for the last few weeks, her phone has also been randomly rebooting. Not constantly, mind you. Just enough to be a nuisance. She has still not updated to OTA... The only suspect to this is that this appears to have started after the 4G outage a few weeks ago... And we are in a 3G only area but there was a day or so we could only connect to 1x...
So what's really causing these random reboots? I'm no expert, never claimed to be one, but is it possible that something going on between our phones and the Verizon network is causing this?
Thoughts... Ideas...?

I have had a few reboots across a few different rom, radio, and kernal combos. The only thing that all my reboots have had in common was I had GPS enabled. Ive yet to see a reboot with it off. Could just be a coincidence.

stock rom, not rooted, has had multiple random reboots
I have had no random reboots, or none that I have personally experienced. I figured if my phone was randomly rebooting I would have noticed a considerable battery drain. I have not noticed that yet. I honestly think that this might be an issue for people with little to no 4g coverage. I am bothered that this has not been addressed yet by verizon as I have seen so many people complain about this.
Hopefully I dont get these either, who knows may it is just phones that are may be defective hardware wise.
Well i just wanted to drop my $.02
I am Rooted and have been just about the same time the OP has been rooted.
I USED to have reboots. I install the full RUU and had reboots i also installed just the RADIO file and had reboots. I also reverted back to stock by the RUU provided by JCase. I Then flashed 1.6 followed 1.6.3 and have not had any problems. I assume that those 2 already had the radio file in them and i didn't not have to flash anything additional. Since being on 1.6 then 1.6.3 i have experienced not 1 reboot. Unless i did it myself.
I did notice then before when i did have the reboots (when i manually flashed RUU or just the RADIO file). I had reboots 3 different ways. I would either get a reboot when my phone had been sitting next to me for a while i would notice the white screen and know it was a reboot. Also the 2 other times was backing out of TapaTalk or native browser/dolphin HD.
So i don't know if that is in a way related. I just don't have them anymore.
I noticed that whenever my phone would reboot (on the leaked radio only,) I had a weak 3g signal. I watched this happen several times. My guess would be the people who aren't having reboots are in an area where they constantly have a good signal. Can anyone else corroborate this?

This is a possibility... But if that's the case this will be the first Android device I've owned that has rebooted itself randomly due to GPS. Even the Samsung Vibrant, which had horrible GPS right out of the box, didn't reboot itself when it was turned on...
However, if this is the case, why has this only become a recent issue.. now my memory isn't so good... But I don't remember seeing much about this issue on rom threads until recently... I.e the past few weeks... Neither my wife's nor my phone randomly rebooted until just a few weeks ago, and we both have our GPS turned on everyday, all day...

This as well is a possibility... Although I am in an area where 3g is strong... I have seen on my and my wife's phone... Even when standing still... That the 3g icon will vanish and come back seconds later...I am in a decent sized college town, population of about 70000... I couldn't say how strong 3g actually is but its everywhere in the city limits... And most of the countryside...
I have traveled to cities with strong 4g but I didnt stand around long enough in a single place to really watch the phone to see if it was dropping data...
Thanks for the constructive input, everyone... Lets keep the corroboration going and see if we can find a pattern..

Once I went to BAMF 1.5 with new radio and new base no reboot. About a week ago I flashed back to stock radio just to compare after being on the new one for a while. I see nothing different between them really.

well i read earlier that someone had problems with the android.process.media has stopped... thats the problem about after a minute of it pooping up my phone just resets. no need to be a **** about it
Without info you aren't going to get any good help. A rebooting phone could be caused by many issues. So far you have given us an error. This is still very little to go on. And now since you resorted to name calling I doubt you will get much help.

That error could be cause by no less then 100 different things. Welcome to a development site. You have to provide all the needed info before we can help. With the info you gave me I would suggest to flash to a stock rom and stay there until you understand a little bit more about what your doing. I see no rom, radio, ril, mods, recovery, it flashing info at all.

That's what i was thinking, but i was accused of flaming by a guy in the Captivate forums today, so i bit my tongue
i just flashed the absolution rom and it again crashed on me and i did wipe the cache and system before installing the custom rom.
and it reboots in the middle of typing or on standby >.< it is quite irritating to be honest
Rebooting
This is caused with a bad flash, radio/ril mismatch, and other programs that have been reinstalled from a backup. I would also suggest re-flashing to a stock rom, and see if it still does it, and if not I would look at getting a new rom. You also can reinstall the one you are running and then add the apps back one at a time to see if it is generated by them. Also I suggest going back to the dev thread and make sure you have the correct radio-ril combo. Search-Research and you will find the root cause.

The absolution Rom was having some issues with battery and themes tweaks in the absolution tools. If you happened to change any of those that is probably the problem.
Random Reboot
well instead of starting a new thread I'll tap onto this one. I am also experiencing random reboots. My phone will reboot regardless if you are using it or not.The reboots can be as far apart as a couple of days or as frequent as 4 times a day. I am running a stock Gingerbread OS.(AT&T) The phone is not rooted. The phone is as stock as possible. The only apps on the phone are the ones that are pre-loaded by AT&T. I have changed the battery with a new OEM HTC battery. I replaced the SD card. I have also replaced the battery door.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Its the battery. I had mine reboot at 96% and 48%. Replace the battery.

I changed the battery twice
Hi,
I have a 6 month old DesireS and, since last autumn OTA to Android 2.3.5 I've started to have problems with it: often resets of the phone when in 3G mode, at random times. If I force the phone in GSM only (2G), I have no problems, but also low data speed Resets only appear in 3G mode.
With initial official FW I had no problems. I sent the phone to service, they changed the motherboard, but the problem still exists
Can anyone give me any advice what to do or to check? Might be a SIM incompatibility? I don't think it's an installed application that generates the resets, as I tried right after hard reset with no additional applications installed and still got the resets.
Current FW: 2.3.5, software no 2.10.401.8, 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M
Many thanks,
Radu
Try flashing another radio..see how that works for you...
I had the same issue like you, and just like you I sent the phone into service and they changed the battery(I got a 1600mAh in change ), some voltage problem at the battery I didn't fully understand what was the problem. So you may have the same problem. Buy anyway, you could try flashing another radio first, like xxmorph3u5xx said.

They gave you a 1600 mah battery? From HTC??!!
I have posted/whined about my battery drain and inability to fully charge past 85% in the past, but now I have realized that it might be something else, not the batteries!
I have tried 3 different batteries and no matter which one i use, the phone still won't charge past 85! How is that even possible?? I've tried resetting battery stats every time when I'm at max of 85% (since I can't get to 100%) and it doesn't help.
Is there any manual way of force clearing ALL battery related stats/resources so that I can fix this phone?
I'm currently using a stock ROM Rogers 20C although my charging issue has been there through all ROMS available.

I would say it's a hardware problem.
Your voltages don't seem to be high enough to charge to 100%.

You know what, I wondered about that... I never had an issue until i started flashing all kinds of different Kernals. Maybe something stuck and can't be undone! lol.

A very good day to everyone.
I have been using my HTC Sensation for a year and a half already and recently it's starting to crank up.
It started last week when I was using my phone when suddenly it just switched off by itself and no matter how I attempted to switch it back on again it would boot up to the lock screen page and baam, it shuts off again. It doesn't restarts by itself or anything, it just simply switches off and no, I am unable to switch it on again. The only time I am able to do so again is when I plug it into a power source, that is when it would finally be able to start up.
At first I thought that it wasn't something big until recently it started occuring more frequently and I noticed that it only occurs whenever I have my 3G switched on. If I'm plugged in, my phone would still be working without switching off even though I have my 3G switched on. But when I unplug it from its power source, I'll be able to use it with 3G on for a good 20-30mins or even lesser at times and there it goes shutting off by itself again. What actually got me dumbfounded is how I can be having 80% of battery power when this happens.
I have tried the using a card/paper as a wedge for the battery so that it connects better but to no avail even though I have noticed that indeed, my battery seems to have some extra allowance for it to fidget about within the confinements of the spot which is allocated for the battery. I have tried the switching the phone's data usage to GSM only as well as switching it to WCDMA only but both still didn't work. I have also done a factory wipe which didn't work, super wiped it before flashing ARHD once again which didn't work as well.
To make things worse, my phone is not covered under warranty anymore and my only last hope is that the problem lies with my phone's battery rather than the PCB board which is why I'm putting all my hope on the Anker battery which stocks would only come in next Monday which I don't wanna spend on only to find out that it's not gonna be able to save my phone from its miserable plight...
This is my phone's setup:
Android Version 4.0.3
Sense Version 3.6
Software Number - Android Revolution HD 6.8.0 XE by mik1986
Kernel Version - 3.0.16-g31a4fc7 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Baseband Version - 11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
I'm really desperate to find a solution to this so if there's anyone of you who has faced this issue/solved this issue please enlighten me as to what I can do, any/all help would be greatly appreciated.

seems like a radio problem ..reflash the firmware you are having or ..flash 3.33/3.32 universal firmware from kohr-ah firmware thread in sensation development section
once done ..get getril app ..open it and flash proper ril for the firmware if you not having matching ril

I'd add to that to reflash it using a fresh download of the firmware file. It's possible (though slightly unlikely) that you have a tiny corruption of your existing firmware file so reflashing it might just put the same error back. I say that's unlikely because errors in the radio file of firmware would likely be causing you bigger problems than you are saying. But a new download and fresh flash won't hurt.
Or try switching to the 3.32 firmware (They aren't much different) just to see if it makes a difference. If not you can at least rule that out.
Just a head's up though, after you flash a new firmware file, reboot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik or you will likely just get a bootloop at the boot animation when trying to start it the first time.
I had the same problem - the battery was broken, had to buy a new one, search for "Anker" on amazon

My situation is identical to yours. 1,5 years old, constantly rebooting, after reboot the battery power drops to 4%. If it's connected to the power cord it works normally. Already ordered Anker battery and I'll see what happens.
If I look closely, I can see that my battery is a little bloated and not completely flat. Did anybody else noticed that?
So I guess all of this should be written on HTC Sensation FAQ page since it's not a bug, but a feature...
