I am on stock GB 2.3.4 and the HBOOT version: 1.18.0000..
I tried to S-OFF using the revolutionary tool but I simply cannot make it work even after multiple attempts.
The utility successfully identifies my device, and after entering the beta key correctly, it identifies it as a valid key but still I get the message "Failed to get root " at the end! I repeated the process multiple times without any success..
What might I be doing wrong? Please help me!

I have an HTC Sensation I bought online in China.
I've been trying to gain S-OFF with revolutionary-0.4pre4
I have installed all the drivers and tried it in sync mode, in debugging mode, uninstalled HTC sync on my PC and tried again and still no win.
I've been trying to read up on it but not having much luck. Some other people with v.1.52.708.3 were also having problems. Do I need to wait for a new version of Revolutionary or do I have another option?

Did you unlock bootloader first?
What your bootloader says on top? **locked** or **unlocked**?
If your bootloader is locked than unlock by HtcDev then try to s-off again.
Thanks, I didn't realize I had to unlock the bootloader first. For some reason the site is not working for me though. After I log in and select my phone the "begin ..." button doesn't do anything.

Do not do this. Revolutionary will not play nice with HTC dev.

I use this site "[Exclusive] TacoRoot By Justin Case And Reid Holland: A New Temporary Root Exploit For All HTC Devices" as guide to using TacoRoot, since zerg root not work in "Unrevoked".
I ran along TacoRoot with Unrevoked or you can run unrevoked while TacoRoot. Because TacoRoot will only temporary root. Unrevoked will do the S-Off ing. But other's has different idea. But this work on mine. Oh, one more thing I thing TacoRoot only run well on GingerBread since it not work well on Ice Cream Sandwich when I try.

Hi guys, I really hope this problem hasn't been asked a thousand times previous, although I've read bits online about it,I'm yet to find a solution.
In the process of TRYING to root my desire s, I've managed to unlock the bootloader, but when I run superoneclick, it hangs on step 7 every time(waiting for device)
My hboot is 2.00.0002, hence why I'm trying the superoneclick method. If I was able to downgrade my version, I'd have tried the revolutionary method.
I'm sure there's an easy solution, but at the moment,I seem to be going around in circles.
Any assistance will be greatly received.
Just to confirm, my bootloader is unlocked (highlighted in pink), but I can get no further with attempting to root.
Thanks.

Don't use the super one click. All the above threads are good
"I don’t suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it"
A while back I attempted to root my phone on my Macbook Pro. I sort of gave up half way through because I was unable to find a tutorial detailed enough to unlock the bootloader. Basically, what I did was change my CID to 1111111, and then I did a factory reset hoping that to OTA Jellybean update would have been sent out from AT&T. Scratch that.... When I use the CID Getter app, it says that my CID is back to the stock "CWS__001," and now I have access to a computer running Windows 7 64bit... I am using this video tutorial.
I am able to backup my phone two times, but when it tries to fetch my CID, it says that it has already been unchanged. That is as far as I am able to go... I still have the token from when I tried rooting the first time, and htcdev.com has sent me the unlock_code.bin. I tried to just go ahead and run it via command prompt, but it just says "waiting for device." I know that the drivers are installed correctly and up to date, HTC sync isnt showing up in my task manager under processes OR service, the device is in USB debugging mode, I have tried it without disable fastboot before rebooting it in bootloader mode, and I have tried it disabled as well. I am stuck here. Am I going to have to try and flash a RUU or whatever, because I am new to rooting android devices. I am pretty savvy when it comes to this sort of stuff, but I am at whits end... What should I do?
What do you mean by "factory reset"? A factor reset or running the RUU will not change the CID.
It seems you meant to link a video, but didn't, so I'm not sure what procedure or tools you are trying. I would advise trying the all-in-one toolkit to temp root and change the CID: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952426
My other advice would be to read up on the actual guides posted here on XDA, rather than rely on video walkthoughs that just spoon feed you the steps without actually requiring you learn anything.
SuperCID doesn't prevent you from getting the AT&T OTA (although root and unlocked bootloader will). So if you've actually changed back to the AT&T CID, it was for nothing.

Hey Folks,
This is my first post in the Sensation forums, i've been reading topics for a few days, but I didn't find any solution to my problem and i'm starting to get annoyed by it.
I've obtained a HTC Sensation a few days ago, and as with my previous devices (Galaxy Gio, Optimus Black) I wanted to flash a custom rom on it. I happened to unlock the bootloader of my friends Sensation few weeks earlier, so i thought this was going to be a piece of cake.
Well it wasn't, I couldn't unlock the bootloader using HTCdev method because the phone is vodafone branded. I tried numerous things, i wasn't able to perform the juopeanutbro (?) trick, tried flashing a custom hboot through fastboot (JB_hboot.zip) in linux (gave me an error 42 "Remote: Custom id check failed" or something like that). And after a few days of trying and trying i'm getting tired of it.
So my question is, is there any option i missed to achieve S-OFF or unlock bootloader? I'd love to flash a custom rom on it because I don't like the 4.0.3 Firmware which the phone is running now.
Phone Details:
Android version: 4.0.3 (vodafone)
HBOOT:1.27.0000
Radio: 11.29A.3504.18_M
CID:VODAPE17
Did you select the Vodafone model there in list of HTC dev...

If htc Dev method doesn't work for your phone, use the non htc Dev method. Follow everything on the screen, do not run out of battery power (that will probably brick your phone)
Yes I did select the vodafone model, and I end up with the "failed" error when flashing unlock_code.bin. I don't understand why the HTCdev method doesn't work in the first place. And the method described by stillsober requires the almost impossible wire-trick.. Well i'm afraid there is no other method..

has your motherboard been replaced?
what error did you have?
It's not that impossible, I did it in like 10 tries, there are YouTube videos timed exactly so you know when to connect and disconnect the wire. plus you can try as many time as it takes so you really can't go wrong... You know both method require the insulated wire right? It's just one requires the more accurate timing
Well I've somehow managed to achieve S-OFF!!!!!! This is my fastboot screen:
h t t p://i43.tinypic.com/2wgubtj.jpg
I read in a guide somewhere on the forum that when having S-OFF flashing a custom recovery would be possible, and writing supercid too, well the first thing failed (again...) but I did manage to write supercid. This is my command prompt screen:
h t t p://i39.tinypic.com/2uqzkna.jpg
So what do I have to do now??

what does it say in the top?
juopunutbear or locked?
also i can't view the pics
can you post here in a post?
Well on the picture it says ***Locked*** and you can just paste the link in your browser without the h t t p://, because i can't include links in my posts as I have lest than 10 posts submitted.
But I actually have solved all my problems, because I knew juopeanutbear had unlocked bootloaders available on his website and in fastboot you are possible to flash these with the command "fastboot oem rebootRUU" wich put the device in RUU update mode, and then flash the unlocked HBOOT from juopeanutbear's website with the command "fastboot flash zip jb_hboot.zip.
Note (to people who might find this useful in the future): The devices sticked on showing a green loading bar in RUU update mode after entering the second command, on the command prompt it showed done, but the device didn't reboot or what. Just wait a while (to be sure) and enter command "fastboot reboot-bootloader"
Now my fastboot screen shows **Juopeanutbear** instead of ***locked*** and I've already managed to flash clockworkmod SUCCESFULLY!!!!!!!
Now I will replace CWM by 4ext and i'm good to go I guess, how I managed to get S-off will remain a secret for me, I assume I did do the wire-trick correctly after all, but didn't notice (you know,, spending a few nights behind your PC doesn't give you a clear state of mind

you are right
i included also the h t t p : //
so you managed it yourself

now it is time for a custom rom
note: probably after achieving S-OFF you chose no for installing the jb hboot

I am trying to upgrade my HTC One S from CM 10.1 (Dark Jelly S Edition) to the latest CM 11, and am hitting roadblocks at every turn. Any help would be appreciated. I've outlined below what I've tried so far, and where I get stuck.
When I try to install CM 11 using TWRP, I receive the following error:
assert failed: getprop("ro.bootloader") == "2.15.4444"
getprop("ro.bootloader") == "2.15.000" ||
getprop("ro.bootloader") == "2.13.0000"
I understand that this means I'm using the wrong bootloader. I currently have version 1.14.0005 on my phone.
I am using the guide at THIS link to upgrade to 2.15.000. However, the guide recommends that my phone be S-off, which my phone currently is not.
I then tried to use THIS GUIDE to switch to S-off. However, that guide requires that I first have SuperCID.
When I try to install SuperCID following the directions HERE, I get the following error after Step 3: "cannot open for read: permission denied". I searched more, and tried the method described HERE, but that requires S-off.
Do I understand correctly that I need S-off to install SuperCID, but I need SuperCID to get S-off?? I'm trying to figure out what Step 1 is in this whole process!
I understand and respect the frustration of many regulars here with those who post questions without searching first. I want to stress how many WEEKS I have spent trying to figure this out to no avail. Anyone who could provide some guidelines for how to get past these roadblocks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
AFAIK you should have an option in your "developer options" as "Root access", you need to set it "apps and adb" and this should allow you to pass that Step 3.
By the way you don't need to be s-off for supercid

I'm temporarily stuck on the RUU issue now. I use "Cincinnati Bell" for my cell service, and they are a small local carrier. I can't find an RUU for cincinnati bell, and I'm not sure how to tell if the RUU has hboot 2.15.0000. Is it critical I find a Cincinnati Bell RUU with 2.15.0000, or could other carrier RUU's potentially work? I'm a bit fuzzy on the RUU issue.
I'm following the guidance on this link.
Why are you trying to install ruu? If you could get s-off just find firmware that inculudes hboot 2.15 and flash it via fastboot. Then install cm11
