No worries. AFAIK you need a kernel with BLN support, either v.0.1.1-rc3 or v.0.2.0, then install the app.
Yes, the kernel must have BLN added to it, independent of the ROM.
For what its worth, I'm on VB final and BLN works beautifully, I'm using the paid app if it helps.

It would be cool to have this built into a rom also, negating the need for an app. But I'm not about to make that kind of request...

You need the app to enable it at all. There ARE some system files that get created with the app that control the state of the notifications though.
For now that's true, but nearly anything is possible if the hardware and kernel support it. If an app can enable that behavior, then it can theoretically be hard coded into a rom, am I right? But that's lot to ask for when a free download does the job. I mean, given the huge list of things the few devs we have are busy with, coding bln into their work is a waste of time.
Anyway... That was more than enough diverting from the topic.

hello~I come from HangZhou China. So sorry for my bad English...
Before I use the BLN I have already got the new kernel(Netarchy Nexus - 1.3.4-cfs-2.3.4 (For stock 2.3.4 roms)).I think it can work BLN.
But it still can't work when I have new messages or the call i have't see.
What‘s the matter? How can I adjest the BLN? thank you ~
Hey,
You need to download the blind control app/bln control pro from the android market and set the settings for bln on that.
Thanks!

Use this https://market.android.com/details?id=neldar.bln.control.free&feature=search_result from the android market to set BLN, there is a list of options.
In chinese,

Thank you bbelos for the port of kernel 3.x
This thread will contain test builds of a Nyan colonel built off of kernel 3.x. This does not currently have voodoo sound or over clock capabilities. This has a bunch of tweaks I have found and would like tested such as didle and other new things. This is based on the 3.x port by bbelos.
What does not work:
Vibration
4G WiMax
Compass
You need to put the following files on your SD card along with the kernel:
Download all files here besides zImage
Now you will need to download the test kernel. If it is named zImage.bin, rename it zImage:
6/3/12 9:49 EST: http://i.minus.com/1338785488/MLUAXU3KBgO9DEjDXcsUKA/iyU7MabwAtc4I
Flash boot_zImage_with_boot.zip in CWM or twrp and it should reboot into the kernel.
It should be mentioned the orientation sensor doesn't work either, although I'm not sure if it's just the auto-rotation feature that doesn't work or it won't even turn orientation when you want to change the orientation of your camera.
One question though: What are the benefits of the new kernel?

The screen orientation, oddly enough, is not handled by the orientation sensor. Or at least not in this case. It must be handled by the accelerometer. The orientation sensor is needed for things like compass apps, etc.

It used to say cap time out did not work. I just recently told bbelos that orientation works now. My build can also have different bugs/fixes. For example, I fixed the color issues on mine.

I never said portrait/landscape mode didn't work. The orientation sensor doesn't work. It doesn't return any readings. Test it with Elixir2, or a compass app.

This is awesome btw. Can't wait til you can get all the options that make the 2.x nyans what they are working.
I would also like to know, in layman's terms, what the benefits of using the 3.x kernels will be (once they're fully operational of course).

Back up.
Bbelos accidentally posted links to Uberpinguin's private file server and I used the kexec zip link from his blog post. guess i missed all the "fun." pretty glad i did too. anyways, i still havent tried this kernel out. i'll try to give it a shot tonight. does it work with any ics rom or should i stick with cm while testing it now? and as far as the tweaks you mention in the OP, are they behind the scenes tweaks, or should i use a specific app to utilize them, like nstools for live OC and such on your other kernels? which i still dont really know how to use, lol. i just leave the live OC option at 100% on nstools. not sure what im sposed to use for the best performance or best battery tho. but ill go to the nyan v5 thread to ask about that stuff.

Ok I'm in the process of building my first ROM for the shift. I am starting with an AOSP, but am wondering if I can add an app to it that is sense specific, from what I've seen. I use the fm tuner app on my shift everyday at work and want to put it on the ROM I'm building. Does anyone know if this will work or am I stuck in try it and see mode? Thanks

Nope, unless you are extremly talented, but it won't work to just drop the fm radio app into system, but search the market, you may be able to find a free alternative that would work with AOSP. I would really like to get the HTC music app on AOSP but it is not that easy.

Sense Apps will usually not work on AOSP unfortunately. If it's possible, it will take some work. But if your looking for an FM Radio Tuner, the Port I did has one. You can try it, and see if it will work for you. Bilgerryan I'm with you on the HTC Music App. It's the one I like the best.

Same way you do it with stock - you have to open up the app drawer, hit the menu button, then select edit. You may need to switch the view type first - do that, and then you can drag things from the app drawer into the dock and vice versa.
Hey again -
To the few that do try this rom out - feel free to drop suggestions for other things to try and work in (beyond lockscreens of course). While I do have one known (and one unknown) surprise ready, I'd like to get a few more things worked into an update if at all possible. I can't say I'll be able to work in what is suggested, but I'll give it a shot at least
Having an updated tw launcher or a different launcher with the ability to have 5 or 6 apps in the dock would be all that I would ask for. Everything else is fantastic. Thanks for all your efforts.

Yeah I've thought about such things, but I always circle back to the idea that there are so many great 3rd party launchers out there I should let it be to encourage folks to explore those options lol. I also am leery on putting in a launcher that has a pay version or has the whole ask-for-permission hassle (that's not really a hassle), but I'll keep my eyes peeled for something different.
I am of course open to suggestions

Google Now should have been working - all the stuff from the referenced link was added for it anyway. How is it different now vs. when you first flashed the ROM? Could you get me a screenshot of what it looks like for you now? Perhaps I missed something...
LOL on the swag toggle - I meant to change how that behaved. The toggle is there for fun only, but to mess with people on the Gingerbread build I had it set to force download mode if you turned it on while auto-brightness is turned on - I forgot to change that, my bad
EDIT: Derp... I see what I forgot... Ok, it will be fixed in 2.1, sorry about that For those not wanting to go and flash anything, all you need to do is delete /system/app/GoogleQuickSearchBox_USA.apk and then reboot and all will be well. My bad.
Google now just wasn't there before. It was standard search. Now I've added it mine looks like this:

Yep - everything in that is already in the rom, I just forgot to remove an apk. D'oh.
First off - thanks to those that have offered some feedback on this, it is very much appreciated. That being said, I know not many have tried this out but I'm getting an update together, so I wanted to ask if anyone has noticed anything else not working quite as they expected or anything that should be changed/added/removed...?
I haven't come across anything I wanna do with the launcher yet, but I have cleaned up a few things in the toggles, Google Now is now working as it should, I fixed another little bug I found when you first turn on wifi after flashing... outside of that is there anything people have found that I should address before updating? No worries if not - like I said not many have tried this out, but I'd like to get all the little issues ironed out before updating if possible.

Yup guys you can change your system animations:thumbup: via this app u am not the developer I just support this app and would like to share this one with you guys
Description:
This app will make Theming your phone as easy as tapping on a button. The concept is easy:
You tap the MOD you want, and Framework Tool will apply it for you. Currently there are about 40 functions, such as animations, dialogs, backgrounds and other aspects of your phones or tablets system, but it is in beta state, and more will be added in the next hours, days, weeks, months. Now it is your turn! Take control of your phone and make it fit to your mood and style, use hot features as the possibility to use your own backgrounds (in the Settings application as an example) for the system (3.0+), with just a few taps, and no computer required! This application needs ROOT ACCESS and R/W on /system ! This App can now run on versions below 4.0, BUT all modifications are designed for Android 4.0, so they may not work as intended on versions below that!
Warning: Framework Tool does change framework files which may not be compatible on some ROMs or devices. Always make a backup before installing and use at your own risk.
Here's the Link

Bad luck then try applying animations again or instead try a reboot I have always used it on a fresh flash so it was never the case for me
I advice you to use it on a new flash...
You can also set the speed for animations using Framework Tool, in case you they are to slow for you. On start screen open menu and then you will see.
Thanks for yor responses guys.
I don't mean the animation is slow, I mean it takes a lot of time (3 or 4 seconds) to start the animation. Once started, it goes smooth.
This happens only sometimes. I'm trying to figure if this issue is ROM related (pa 3.1). I'm going back to aokp and try again.
Thanks!!

Technically, android waits for the app you touched to draw the first image, then animates to it.
Another thing: You are on Android 4.2 right? Then the changes Framework Tool applies to the framework (in the aspect of app start animation) are "ignored".
The only impact on performance is if you change the "standard background", if it is very high-res, if will definatly have an impact on performance.
Sincerely,
Janis Elfert (dev of Framework Tool)
