Anyone seen this before? - Samsung Infuse 4G

So I have a infuse that is acting up very weird. It will only turn on if its plugged in to power. Tried everything, if it is unplugged and I insert battery it tries to start up without me touching anything, I get the startup star then it reboots over and over, plug it in and I get the star then battery then I can hold power button and it will fire up, tried different batteries, different roms and updated boot loaders, nothing has worked, thinking a hardware problem.... like a bad micro USB port as it acts funny, but can't find one to replace it with...... any ideas? Bought it for 100$ because it does work, you just can't turn it off while out of the house...lol and I like to fix things.... any ideas would be awesome, thanks!

First question will it go into download mode?

Yes I can get it into dl mode, jars will work and sometimes I can get odin to recognize it.

i would backup any current rom in the case that it is a hardware issue.
Question, can it boot recovery...?
Edit: never mind, stupid question, trying to flash cm9 at the moment so im kinda back and forth.
custom rom, of course it can

I can make it stock or customer, roms are not the issue.... the whole power deal and micro USB issue... wondering if people have seen that.

[Q] Samsung boot loop

My friend has an infuse running infused 2.2.3 infusion core a1 kernel. It is boot looping on the Samsung logo for no apparent reason. Been running the same setup for a few months. I tried a battery pull and get into CWM to do a factory reset but the moment I plug in the battery it starts up. It is acting as though I am pushing the power button all the time... Even though it still feels like the power button is able to be pushed in. I will try to Odin back to stock this afternoon when we get back to a computer.
Anyone got any suggestions in the meantime???
Thanks

If it is the power button that is stuck, I can't get the phone into download mode. Any other tricks that I don't know about
I tried googling how to fix a stuck power button also, no luck...
Thanks in advance!

Download a heimdall or Odin back to stock package.
read on the thread about how to use it.
Pull battery. Hold both volumes buttons. Do not touch the power button.
Put battery back in. Insert usb cable and continue holding vols until you get into download mode.
Heimdall or Odin back to stock.
I definitely know how to use Odin with gtg's unbrick. I have used it numerous times. But the problem is that the phone"thinks" I am pressing the power button when I am NOT. I went to at&t and there only solution is a warranty claim. I still have infused 2.2.3 installed and don't want to send it back in case they won't fix it because of root and custom ROM.

No download mode

So, I got soft bricked. I tried to odin back to stock but ive tried every three button combo to get back in to download mode with nothing working. I try pulling battery then holding both vol keys then inserting battery and then plugging in usb cable while its plugged into the computer and odin is running. Ive tried every other variation of this as well. I have no idea what to do next, please help. Plugging in the USB after holding the keys only brings up the SAMSUNG screen. I can three button into 3e recovery but of course that is no help. Please help

possible. A jig would force your phone into DL mode.
I tried to help a few user in the past when they had a continuous power loop, samsung logo and reboot. over and over again.
It was later determined to be hardware.
If you are not able to get it into DL mode, chances are the store tech wont be able to either...you might be able to warranty thru samsung or att for hardware failure

yes..if you can get into DL mode:
android shoveling dirt or phone triangle with "!"
then you can flash with odin or heimdall..I usually use the heimdall 1 click method.
the important thing is use whatever you're comfortable with.

problem with almost everything

So this started about a month ago and i tried to ignore it but i don't want to deal with it any longer. My is not recognized on my computer anymore even after i reinstalled the drivers multiple time. Its not recognized in odin, the "My Files" app and the music app are both missing. Also whenever i try to put it into download mode it just launches clockwork mod. I've tried every method besides the usb jig. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong or any solutions to try?

Yes i forgot to mention that. I can flash new roms and everything but they all have the same problem.
I also tried restoring from an older back up and it had the "My files" and the music app but it still wasn't recognized and still wasn't recognized on my computer
My initial thoughts?
Using the stock cable (it matters)?
Connected to computer's USB and not a hub?
Try a different computer?
Can you mount either SD from cwm and have it show up in windows?
If/when you solve the windows issue, I'd try wiping both emmc and external, then load your fav from and retry.

I have used the stock cable and two other ones I have. The only way I could get it into download mode was through the power button shortcut in cm9. Every time I plug it in it says the device malfunctioned. I thought it was a driver problem but I've already reinstalled them a few times.

I have tried all of the alternate methods except ADB mode which I don't think i can because the phone wont go past the galaxy S 4g exclusively from t mobile splash screen.
if there is a trick for the ADB method please let me know cause if something is going to work at this point i think that's it.
Well there is hope, your phone is still turning on.
You could see if abd recognizes your phone if you have it. (usually the first things I do is make sure debugging is on when I change things over)
If you know someone with a jig that would be the easiest way but it is 1am.
I'm at work so I'm not in front of my computer.

[Q] Phone won't boot into ROM or recovery--Possible hardware issue?

I've been having a bit of a hard time with a friend's Skyrocket tonight. I flashed CM9 for her before, and it seems to work well. In the past two to three weeks, though, she tells me that her phone's been randomly turning off. Tonight, I finally decided to install CM10 on the Skyrocket, thinking that this would fix the issue. I installed it through CWM like normal (I've flashed many a ROM, so I couldn't have messed up this process).
With everything installed, I reboot through CWM. The issue is, the phone just goes black. After pulling the battery and trying to boot again, I see the Samsung logo, followed by a black screen. The phone sort of pulsates for a bit at this point, giving me a short vibration here and there, before finally stopping. Attempting to get into recovery doesn't work either. I also, due to me not being used to the download mode feature (I personally have a Galaxy Nexus), accidentally tried to start it by holding the power and volume buttons (rather than holding volume and plugging the phone in, not touching power). The yellow triangle would show up very briefly, and then the phone shuts off.
When getting into download mode the proper way, I was able to get into Odin and flash CWM again. At this point, I should definitely be able to get into Recovery. But alas, I cannot... Same issues as before. At this point, it's revealed to me that, after the random shutoffs that my friend had been experiencing, she would sometimes also have trouble turning the phone back on. Noticing a trend?
I'd like to know what you guys think: Is this a software issue, or is it a hardware issue? For the former, what do you guys recommend so the phone could boot normally again? And for the latter, well... I don't suppose there are any easy hardware fixes I could try?
If you pull the battery and reinsert does the phone start on its own with no button pushes? If so... Stuck power button.

I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't try flashing to stock because I figured it would work, but somehow, it did. I still feel that there's something wrong with the power button, and I'll be doing some more testing, but for now, everything's okay. Thanks for your help.
I bet you can reflash cm10 and it'll work fine. Just do a factory reset and the wipes and you'll be fine.
