I was attempting to use the Back to Stock One Click program, but my PC BSOD'd in the process, and now I am getting...

Unfortunately, I can't seem to worm my way into recovery using any combination of volume + power. What are my chances?

That's another version of download mode. Flash an Odin/Heimdall rom.

I know you said two different computers, but did you have the Samsung USB drivers installed on them by chance? If so, they don't get along with the Heimdall drivers and vice-versa. It might be worth checking and uninstalling them, then trying again.
I've been on the same screen you're referring to and was able to get it recognized with no problem. At worst case you could try ODIN if you can't get Heimdall to recognize it and see if you have luck with it. If ODIN recognizes it, you can flash an ODIN-based ROM (or maybe use the 1-click Gremlin Remover) to get going again. Then flash a ROM of your choice.

Welp I am one of the stupid ones and installed MIUI on my Infuse, and like everyone else, I'm stuck on the boot screen. I looked at the post on the same topic and tried to do it but couldn't get it to work probably becuase the computer says that its an Unknown device instead of a Samsung device.
So my question is what do I do now that my computer doesn't recongize the phone as a device anymore?
Thanks to all that can give help.

And lesson learned - never install a ROM from another phone.
Yeah I know that now. Foolish mistake I know I shouldn't have made.
But, I have tried using that but when I connect the phone to the computer it shows to be an unknown device and Odin doesn't pick it up at all. My problem is, is that the computer doesn't recognize it as an Android Device anymore. Is downloading the drivers from Samsung going to help?
I'll have to leave that to someone else - I use Heimdall on a Linux box, I've never flashed from Windows.
Oh, ok. Well thanks for your help .
I fixed my problem. What I had to do was get another computer that doesn't have the Samsung Drivers or Kies installed and then install them. Once that was done Odin found the device and I was able to restore it.
So there's a tip for anyone who can't get their device to be recognized by the computer or Odin itself.
Or just uninstall/delete those drivers?

i have started to do this to since i got the infuse. ill tell you i dont miss driver issues one bit! linux/bsd/mac/whatever rock as long as you have supported hardware and that is becoming less and less of a problem these days.
re: Now Stuck
You need to try and pull the battery out and put it back see if you can get the phone into "download mode". If you cannot get it into download mode by doing that or using the up/down volume and power key combo then I would suggest that you purchase a "jig" on ebay. (they cost under $10 bucks shipped).
Here is the ebay link for the jig:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-Galaxy-...0563626533?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item20ba3eba25
With a jig all you would need to do is to remove battery, plug the little jig into the usb port of phone and replace the battery, then wait 5 seconds or so and the phone will be in download mode allowing you to use Odin3 and flash back to "stock rom" to start with..
Best if you did that using the "Ultimate Unbrick" stock froyo rom after that
you can install infuse 1.5 custom rom or Bionix or the defused custom rom or any other rom.
Here is the link for the Ultimate Unbrick:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
Good luck.

make sure u have heimdall uckj4 downloaded to your pc
make sure you are in admin user
turn off your phone
get a decent usb cord
plug it into a different usb than what you have been using
put your phone into DL mode ( pull battery, press vol up and vol down, plug in usb and replace battery)
make sure you have updated to latest java
run the 1 click
it may show disconnected
install drivers using zadig - move thru the selections, find android usb
if you have install correct drivers, it should show connected
flash it
after it flashed the first time
flash it the second time with the bootloader box checked
if it works correctly, you should be on uckj4 stock att gb
if it doesn't work, you can always drive your car over the phone and ask for a replacement

Odd, has nothing there just my preinstalled camera. There is nothing to do with android, tried every single option lol. I still will not get it, should i remove microsoft c++ when it goes by that screen?
I am working on a LG G2x LG-999dw which seems hard bricked. I've tried to NV Flash on multiple machines (with multiple cables) but it doesn't work. I got so desperate that I did a clean install of WinXP Pro one of my machines... just to make SURE it wasn't a driver or Windows update issue.
I've scoured our Forums and google'ed til my fingers hurt. NOTHING I have found has made a difference.
The computers recognize the G2x in APX mode. I get the NVidia Recovery driver loaded, no problem. When I start the flash.bat (included with the 3 different NVFlash based packages I've found) it loads the Fastboot, but then stalls at on 'Waiting for Bootloader to initialize".
I was hoping to push the recovery.img via ADB. Even TonyP's modified driver is loaded, ADB still doesn't see the device.
I've seen more than a few posts from people in situations like this one. However no one really says HOW they got it to work.. just that they did.
This is my boss's phone AND my review is next week!
Please help me?
Thank you in advance!
Maybe the files youre trying to push are corrupted? I jad this little problem last night

Yup. Make sure your nvFlash software isn't corrupt. To my knowledge, our phone is pretty damn near impossible to "brick". nvFlash has always been our savior.

Each time I have tried, I have downloaded them anew. I downloaded the files again at home last night. I brought them into work today via thumbdrive. Same result. Do you have a link to a set of files you KNOW is good?
I have tried One-Click, CWM via NVFlash, and AIO Wipe Tool. They ALL respond the same way. They ALL hang at 'Waiting for Bootloader to initialize".
i know we can do ADB when the phone is in CWM recovery, however, is it even POSSIBLE to get ADB communication when the phone is in this state?

I'd downloaded those countless times in the past week. My finger tips are bruised from holding the buttons down. lol I've resorted to using thick rubber bands to hold them down instead. :silly:
I wish there were some way to just get ADB working in this state. Then I could just push the recovery file across, etc.
Even with adb, it's impossible to install via adb or terminal. NVflash is the only way.

You'll probably have to reinstall the firmware, etc., with a .kdz file if you can't reload the kernel and rom. Which version of the baseband or Android was your boss using? Also, uninstall the LG drivers and reinstall them.

Yes, I've tried 3 different cables on 4 different PCs. I've tried 2 different batteries from a pair of working G2x's. The phone DOES NOT BOOT. It stays on a Black Screen. If I hold both buttons and plug in the USB the PC recognizes it in APX mode. That's ALL it does.

This is without the battery, right? To properly use NVflash, it's without the battery. Except for rare cases. Either way the NVFlash ROM that was linked here previously should do the trick. If even without the battery (And volume buttons held) it does this, then the device itself might've been a lemon from the start. Because I've never had trouble on linux or windows NVFlashing.

Heimdall will use the same methods as ODIN, just a different application.
Try a different usb cable. Try a different computer. try and track all permutations of combinations of cables and computers. Make sure you don't use FrontPanel usb connectors.
EDIT: to answer the question in the title of the OP, No. You cannot flash bootloaders without being in download mode, which you need to go back to "total stock" (say for a return).
Also you can try uninstalling the drivers and re-installing them..
I have had to do this before..

This may be another case of broken usb connector on the phone itself. I've had to repair mine before and I recently sent back 2 phones that T-Mobile sent me as replacements both with broken usb connectors. The last thing to go is charging. Usually what happened to me was it won't talk to my computer or sometimes when I plugged it in to the charger when it was turned off it would randomly go into download mode.
ok gents...and ladies, this is for an sgh-t959v galaxy s 4g. My son was trying to flash a rom to his phone and somehow, I have no idea, screwed the pooch and his phone is now stuck in "downloading" mode. the battery was pulled for several days and when the phone is rebooted it goes immediately to the "downloading" screen. any help what so ever would greatly be appreciated. Not: its not stuck in download mode...well sort of, its stuck downloading.
