Hey XDA,
So I know that there are a billion threads out there talking about enabling Ad Hoc on the Xoom and how frustrating it is that this is not native.
That being said, I have tried nearly every method, from flashable zips to mounting and unmounting with Root Explorer and even ADB commands... nothing seems to work.
All they do is brick my Wifi and I have to revert.
I have also noticed that nearly every guide is from a year ago at least which means it is well before Android 4.0
Could that be the problem?

Adhoc on ics is not possible at the moment. However I think I will have a solution soon.

I rooted my xoom wifi and now when I go to settings to set up my wifi, it says error instead of scanning. any fixes?
I would try reflashing the kernel.

who sounds like the kernel didn't flash right. try the post above me said chances are you just need to re push the kernel files.
how did you flash? if you used adb, you most likely did not push all the modules.... if you used cwr you may of had an error and should reflash.

Hello fellow xoomers, im having a problem hope some one can help me. first off i'm a noob to rooting. I have a xoom wifi running android 3.0 , kernel version is 2.6.36.3 build HRI39. I was adventurous and tried to root my xoom and needless to say it didn't go well. I honestly thought I bricked the damn thing, to my shock and welcomed surprised I was able to do a wipe and erase all the data on my device and return to factory settings. but when it went to connect to the wifi all it's saying is wifi error every thing else seems to work fine. so i was wondering should i try to re root my xoom again??? will this correct the issue i'm having with my wifi?? and can some one point me to a guide that's made for the version i'm currently running seems likes there's a million and one different types of software and you have to have the right one for the version your running or every thing goes from sugar to well you know the rest. Any help would be greatly appreciated if you need any more info please let me know. thank you all in advance.....
Ok so I was wondering if anyone has a solution to my little problem. I had a rooted DROID x an I was running liberty rom 2.0.1 on it an my wifi tether worked perfectly on it. But now I got a DROID x2 and wifi tether wont work anymore. I was wondering what it could be? Do I need a different kernel?
First of all did you root again as you do not mention this. Make sure you have super user and su binary. If you have not, use z4root found on the internet. If you have, then many it is the app, try another.
Also you can not install a new kernel due to signed boot partition.
Ya I did root it with gingerbreak. An I already tried a bunch of wifi apps none of them seam to work.

Im having the same issue on my infuse 4g.
Problem is it worked fine on the phone before, havent changed the phone at all in any way, rooted with superoneclick etc....
any ideas???
I just ordered a recertified Verizon 3G Xoom, and I didn't think about the implications of it being a Verizon device. This is NOT upgraded to 4G LTE -- will the "Stingray" builds of the various ROMS still work? Is there any way to apply WIFI-only ROMS (including stock) if I don't care about the 3G working? Given the age of the device I really want to get Jelly Bean on it.
I will need to cancel this order ASAP if the answers to these questions turn out to be "no"...

Can we install the WiFi only version of ROMs (CM9 in particular) onto a Verizon 3G Xoom and have it work for everything EXCEPT the 3g? I could honestly care less about ever activating it on Verizonas long as WIFI works.

From reading a bit in the Development sub-forum, it looks like there's a JB leak for the VZW version, and either version (WIFI Only or VZW) of the EOS 3 ROM should work. I think I will keep my order.

Any luck? I also have a Xoom 3G MZ600 on the way and could careless about 3G...
hasnt eos got jellybean roms for all versions of the xoom? 3g should work imo

I'm in the same boat and curious to see if anybody has any words of wisdom. I love my refurbed Xoom 3G but am eager to get JB on it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
FWIW everything I have heard/read seems to indicate that it is possible to flash WiFi only ROMs on the 3G Xoom, and apparently everything will work fine except for the 3G (naturally). I haven't taken the plunge yet myself, still running stock ICS.

I purchased a used 3g Xoom around Apr 2012. After initially unlocking / rooting and installing a ROM (EOS) on my 3g Xoom, the 3G radio wasn't working so I started fresh. I locked the device and SBF'd the original Xoom firmware, then used the official over the air (OTA) upgrades to get back to stock ICS. I thought this might fix the 3g issue; it did nothing.
EOS Roms overclock the GPU by default, which caused problems with my (and my wife's Wifi version) Xoom. My only requirements for a ROM are stability, no clutter from dumb carrier installed applications, compatibility, and of course root access. I found a pre-rooted stock Jellybean rom, but it was for the Wifi Xoom. It worked great on my wife's though; and heard rumors that it could work with mine.
*SO*...I took a leap of faith and installed it. It works great. No 3g radio of course, but I gave up on trying to get that to work anyway...so if you don't care about losing your 3g , this will probably work for you. I don't think my 3g will ever work, but I suspect this won't ruin yours if it is currently working. Don't hold me to that; this is a risk.
Random notes and refresher info:
-you will need an SD card. I'm pretty sure the following instructions will only work if you use one.
-If at any point you get the android guy with an orange exclamation point during boot...it is probably ok, just let it sit there for a couple minutes. it should continue to boot into whatever ROM you are currently on. Make sure you enable usb debugging in settings after boot.
-to access RSD, Recovery, or Fastboot mode, press and hold your power button to start the Xoom booting. When you see the Motorola logo, wait a second then press the volume down button. Then you can use volume down again to cycle through your options, and use volume up to choose one.
-the exact differences between RSD / Fastboot and Recovery modes are beyond the scope of this post (and me) so just know that your Xoom can be modified using software on your PC via USB with RSD and Fastboot modes, and stock recovery can be replaced with modified versions to add more functionality. Recovery is used to do all sorts of things...flash Roms, mount drives, format, cleanup caches, etc.

General instructions. Just guidelines; you will probably need some previous experience with computers / rooting etc.
(If you are already unlocked, rooted, and have a replacement recovery, skip to the last step.)
1.) Follow this guide to prep your Xoom: (unlocking, rooting, and install CWM recovery)

Note: you may have heard of Lord AOI tool; it is supposedly designed to simply the above process. I found it didn't work well and was more difficult to use than good ol' adb commands. I recommend skipping it.
2.) OPTIONAL: Next, I recommend using the latest Rogue recovery. Just use standard CWM recovery to flash it. It is nice because it allows you to use the touchscreen to manipulate instead of having to use the hardware buttons (volume buttons are kind of a pain). I got the Asus Transformer TF300TL, US model with the LTE support, for Christmas. It came with ICS, which I was not happy with having come from the regular TF300T with JB for the past 8 months. I had MAJOR lag issues, graphics problems and such. I kept searching the web at least once a week to see if there was any news on the TF300TL getting an upgrade to JB. Could not find anything. I even emailed Asus directly to find out if there was any chances later on down the line (the person that helped me knew nothing, telling me that I could use the WW build software with no problems. I knew this person just didn't understand but tried anyway, just in case. The tablet didn't even see the file.) Well, at the end of Feb, the TF300TL finally got the boot up to 4.1, which helped a bit but I'm still finding alot of lags, error messages about how the app that I'm trying to start is taking too long and would I like to wait and such. I successfully rooted the tablet tonight (without having to unlock the bootloader) via the motochopper tool (AMAZING and freaking FAST tool for getting root on ANY device, if you're looking for an easy way to root) and now I'm looking at possibly flashing some custom ROMs onto my tablet, in an effort to get rid of this lag and headache. I know there aren't many, if at all ANY, ROMs for the TF300TL and that I could possibly use ROMs built for the TF300T but I will lose my LTE capabilities. Does anyone know of a way that I can somehow get the LTE software from the stock ROM to be able to keep the LTE once on a regular TF300T ROM? I'll be honest, I don't really use the LTE much, since I'm usually around a wifi signal and I have my Nexus 4 that I can use as a hotspot while out and about, as well as 2 Virgin Mobile hotspots. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this tablet and getting anything other than stock running on it. Also, if I'm stuck with just the stock ROM, is there a way that I can flash TWRP recovery without unlocking or is that not possible? I've already tried twice tonight and it starts out good but then when it looks like it's writing the recovery to the recovery partition, it says "fail". Thanks!

install cleanrom inerhitance 3.4.6 (the newer cleanrom xenogenesis 4.x still dont support 300tg/tl) and
andrew_z1 kernel from its companion kernel package, it should work on TL models with 4g active (unter's kernel works only on tg models, even if the name sais "tg/tl")
btw, please divide your messages in paragraphs, it helps a lot for readability - my eyes crossed while reading your word wall there.

I've even tried some of the other kernels that are in his kernel installer tool but I get the same thing every time (no WiFi and no LTE, not even 2G/3G). I even tried just keeping the stock kernel. I've messaged the guy that developed the ROM so hopefully he'll have some info. In the meantime, I'm gonna reread the whole post again (all 200+ pages) to see if I missed anything.

About two weeks ago I finally got around to rooting my Android Razr Maxx so that I might speed it up since it had been laggy. I was able to root my device with no issues and overclock it to solve this problem. I began to expand to other things rooting would allow me to do and attempted to use a mobile data tweak-er to get a speed increase. At first it seemed to work great until at one point about a week later I restarted my phone and couldn't access my mobile data, I could only get WiFi and the 4G bar is always there with signal but remains grayed out. I started looking around for info and eventually asked two friends of mine who both noticed I had no VPNs listed in my phone and said that was why,I don't know how this could of occurred but both told me I could fix it by getting a new custom Rom if I didn't want to do a factory rest. If this is true I would appreciate it if someone could help me find a ROM that works for my phone. I'm currently using the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. stock version 4.1.2 system version 98.72.165.XT912 I have Safestrap 3.11 installed already and followed numerous videos trying to get a new ROM to work, so far I have tried Wizzed Bean Jelly Wiz and Eclipse but all 3 give me a boot loop when I try to get them working and I always have to revert back to to my stock Rom after my attempts. I'm guessing there was an incompatibility I wasn't aware of in all 3 cases.
Any help with any of this would be most appreciated and I apologize ahead of time as I may be ignorant to some things involving this question
