I rooted my xoom wifi and now when I go to settings to set up my wifi, it says error instead of scanning. any fixes?
I would try reflashing the kernel.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
who sounds like the kernel didn't flash right. try the post above me said chances are you just need to re push the kernel files.
how did you flash? if you used adb, you most likely did not push all the modules.... if you used cwr you may of had an error and should reflash.
lostttttt
Hello fellow xoomers, im having a problem hope some one can help me. first off i'm a noob to rooting. I have a xoom wifi running android 3.0 , kernel version is 2.6.36.3 build HRI39. I was adventurous and tried to root my xoom and needless to say it didn't go well. I honestly thought I bricked the damn thing, to my shock and welcomed surprised I was able to do a wipe and erase all the data on my device and return to factory settings. but when it went to connect to the wifi all it's saying is wifi error every thing else seems to work fine. so i was wondering should i try to re root my xoom again??? will this correct the issue i'm having with my wifi?? and can some one point me to a guide that's made for the version i'm currently running seems likes there's a million and one different types of software and you have to have the right one for the version your running or every thing goes from sugar to well you know the rest. Any help would be greatly appreciated if you need any more info please let me know. thank you all in advance.....

Okay so Im not that new with rooting androids or with using custom roms, so I'm not that much of a noob. The other day I decided since CM9 was in official nightlies I would give it a try. So I backed up my rom which was stock and rooted and I installed CM9 all through CWM recovery. Once in CM9 i notice the tablet wont connect to my phones tethering which is the only way I can get internet on it so I deciced to go back to my backup. But now on my backup the Wifi wont even turn on, anyideas why?
Hello,
I got exactly the same problem. I have installed CWM 5.5.0.4 and I tried CM9 nightly and return to Nandroid BackUp. Then no more wifi..
I tried to flash differents versions of stock kernels, but it was impossible to flash it : "Installation aborded"..
I used fastboot to install a new recovery : TWRP, but same problem : impossible to flash any kernels..
Does someone has the same problem? Or any idea to solve it?
Thank a lot !
Crystalyse
I also had another question...
is there any rom that will connect to Android tethering (ad-hoc)?
I was able to connect on stock rom rooted with cwm recovery but now every rom I tried so far wont connect to it.
Is there a way to work around this issue
I'm having similar problems, check this out:

+1 That's the fix (WPA_Spullicant2) that worked for me. My TF300 just kept saying "Saved" when trying to connect to ad-hoc. Replaced the WPA_Supplicant2 file and all is working well.
It's a known issue with wifi not working on stock rooted nandroid backups. If you go back to stock, you will need to follow the step in this post from Xplod.

I had that same issue when I updated my girl's skyrocket to ICS via kies. It seems to fine now after a couple reboots and a few days of use. I would root the phone and do a complete wipe and flash stock ICS but thats just me.

Use odin and return to stock. Then re-try the update.
Alrighty, I have a One S S4, rooted, running ViperOneS 1.2.1.
Not the first time I've run a custom on here, I've been bouncing back and forth between Viper and Cyanogen, usually without issue. Normally, I've been using CWM recovery...
My problem is that I can't get a new radio to install. I've reinstalled Viper a few times, full wipe and all, reinstalled CWM, and finally, just tried using TWRP. CWM says that it updated, but nothing changes, TWRP just gets stuck saying that it is updating, but never does (have to force a shutdown)
So...anybody else run into this problem? I can't find an answer anywhere, and I have no idea what to do next, because I want to keep Viper on here, but right now, my mobile is alright, but I get no WiFi (and the solution that I'm being told is to install a new radio (would that even fix a WiFi issue))
Please help...

It's probably the hboot you have on your phone not letting you flash the radio ? As for Wi-Fi you probably need to just flash the Wi-Fi partitions. You need to find out what hboot you're on as well as if you don't know how to check which radio you're on you should look into that. About phone software baseband and more something like that.

As far as radio, it's 1.08ts.50.02.16_10.08e etc
As far as hboot version....nothing has changed since the time I could reprogram my radio
I'm pretty versed with the phone, I'm asking here, because you will know more than I do...but I know my some of my phone, and I definitely know how to program...but I don't experiment as much as I want to, and I want to know how to fix my phone..
sorry, little drunk at this time, don't want to sound like an ass...
If I think that I'm missing a basic step, I'll ask =)
The hboot, as far add I've know hasn't changed, but I don't know what does. Old versions of recovery, no luck. Had programming issues, get stuck in booloops etc, make it work right...n dint know why the radio won't program out of nowhere =(
I'm at then end of my rope troubleshooting this... maybe someone can help me out. I don't think this could possibly be a hardware problem, but I can't find a software solution.
The problem:
I can connect to WEP and open wifi networks without any problems.
However, when I connect to a WPA/WPA2 network, the connection either fails to transmit data immediately, or dies out over the first few minutes. It stays "connected", but can't send or receive data.
Diagnosis:
It started around the fall of last year when I was on the Infused v2.2.3 ROM. Both my home and work wifi networks started having the same issue, and both are on WPA2.
I tried a new router at home and had the same issue with WPA2.
I messed around with the home network trying to troubleshoot different settings and discovered that WEP worked fine. I can also connect to open hotel and coffeehouse networks without any issues. I did it on my vacation and didn't have any issues.
Troubleshooting
I used this problem as an excuse to upgrade to JB. A new kernel and ROM flash ought to fix the issue, right?
Nope. Same problem on both CM10 and SlimBean ROMs.
I didn't like JB, so I Odin'd back to stock and loaded Infused 2.2.3 again. Same problem.
I figured it must be something in the kernel... so I flashed the CWM Community voodoo kernel v8. Same issue!
Could this problem be caused by hardware in the phone? I didn't think it could...
Despite all these flashes, and the Odin wipe, could some lingering thing be staying on my phone in a folder I don't know about that could cause this through all these changes?
When I search for this issue, I find people with other Android models having the problem, but never solutions... or people with laptops who fixed it by upgrading their drivers. Drivers are in the kernel, right? So a reflash should fix that?
Is there a log file I should look at or something?
You can try flashing a new modem. Here is list of BML modems. They'll work for most roms that are ICS and below. And here is a list of MTD modems. You should use these for all JB roms and some ICS roms (depending on the file system). The modems were put into CWM flashable packages. Good luck!

None taken. And sorry to the OP for sending you down the wrong road. Scott.hart.bti has been working hard on the Infuse kernel and there have been some recent changes. Check out some of his roms if you haven't yet. The wifi drivers may have been updated in his recent releases.

You say you've odined...have you also repartitioned your phone? Go here and try that if you haven't.
Assuming sure you have Already factory reset your phone and wiped it clean,
It sounds like it might be a router issue
Things to Try:
1. On the router, dhcp release..renew..change the lease time
2. Reset the router and set it up again..you may have to do this twice..thrice.
3. New router at home
For some reason, certain wifi doesn't play nice with i997.
Maybe sure you Reset and wipe your phone if you want to make sure no traces of older connection causing issue with new
Might not hurt to take out any micro sd card while testing

*What ROM should I get for my phone and will it solve my issue for data? and what am I doing wrong to install roms?*
About two weeks ago I finally got around to rooting my Android Razr Maxx so that I might speed it up since it had been laggy. I was able to root my device with no issues and overclock it to solve this problem. I began to expand to other things rooting would allow me to do and attempted to use a mobile data tweak-er to get a speed increase. At first it seemed to work great until at one point about a week later I restarted my phone and couldn't access my mobile data, I could only get WiFi and the 4G bar is always there with signal but remains grayed out. I started looking around for info and eventually asked two friends of mine who both noticed I had no VPNs listed in my phone and said that was why,I don't know how this could of occurred but both told me I could fix it by getting a new custom Rom if I didn't want to do a factory rest. If this is true I would appreciate it if someone could help me find a ROM that works for my phone. I'm currently using the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. stock version 4.1.2 system version 98.72.165.XT912 I have Safestrap 3.11 installed already and followed numerous videos trying to get a new ROM to work, so far I have tried Wizzed Bean Jelly Wiz and Eclipse but all 3 give me a boot loop when I try to get them working and I always have to revert back to to my stock Rom after my attempts. I'm guessing there was an incompatibility I wasn't aware of in all 3 cases.
Any help with any of this would be most appreciated and I apologize ahead of time as I may be ignorant to some things involving this question
