Download a new copy of PD15IMG.ZIP.
Check MD5SUM and verify that the download is correct.
Get another SD card.
Format it in PC using card reader, see that file system is FAT32.
Copy the PD15IMG.ZIP on it.
Insert the card into phone.
Boot to bootloader.
Try to update.
If it doesn't work and still gets stuck - YOUR PHONE IS DEAD AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO, NO MATTER WHAT YOU THINK.

Hi everyone, if someone could help me out I would be so happy. I have flashed many ROMS through CWM and never had a problem. Decided to try a new one today 12/23/2011 WCX ILLUMINATI SERIES AT&T Inspire 4G ROM and it says it installed succesfully but when it rebooted it got stuck at white HTC screen. I got into hboot mode and when I try to go to recover to flash my backup it takes me to a black screen with a picture of my phone and a red exlamantion point. I have been searching for resolve but no luck. I have an inspire 4g. Someone please help a friend out!
That's the stock recovery. Maybe you missed this (because it was bold, large and red):
One note to new users...this rom uses the stock recovery in order to have charging animation....in order to flash mods etc., you will need to download and flash latest version from CWM, but then you will loose charging animation....Be carefull adding scripts, the rom is already scripted for undervolting and battery life, other scripts may impact the way the rom performs

First boot takes a long while. At this point, pull the battery, put it back in, and boot up normally. Give it a bit. If it boots properly and you want custom recovery, you need to go the market and download Rom Manager and flash recovery from it. If you can't get it to boot, you will need to get a stock rom in pd98img format, place it on the root of the SD card, and flash thru hboot. Then follow the above to get recovery. At that point you would be set to flash a rom thru recovery, or you could restore your backup.

Thank you for the information. Do you know where there is a link for the stock pd98img? I don't know how I will get it to my phone however since I can't seem to get it connected to my computer. Is there something I can do in order to get it on my sdcard since it's a microsd card? I have a card reader on my laptop but it won't fit my small phone sd card.

I actually must have, my bad. Like I said I have been flashing ROMS for quite a while, maybe tried 10 or more and never had a problem. I am hoping I can get my phone back. I did a backup in CWM so it would be nice to somehow just restore it. I need a new pd98file but I don't know how I will get it to my SD card since I can't access it from my compter. I will try again to plug it in USB to see if I can. Does anyoen know where I can get the stock pmg98 file for my inspire 4g?

That is your big problem now, you did a wipe/factory reset in hboot, so now you can't boot the rom you flashed and you also have no custom recovery. You can find a link to a stock rom in pd98img format in the sticky in the general section. However, you will need a way to get it on the SD card, like a SD card reader for the PC or another phone that you can put your SD card into and connect to the PC.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah I probably shouldn't have just started clicking things and trying things but I was freaking when I can't use my phone. So I will look in the sticky for the stock pd98img and figure out a way to get it to my SD card. So once I get that done should I just get to that install zip from sd and select my pd98img file and hopefully that works? Thanks again!

No. Put the PD98IMG on the root of your sd card, then use volume down/power to get to hboot. It will take a second or two but it will find the file and ask if yuou want to flash it. Confirm with volume up. Wait until it tells you its safe to reboot. reboot.
Tada, your phone works again.

a little research goes a long way here.
volume DOWN+power button. puts you in HBOOT, select FASTBOOT, plug into computer, and find instructions for FASTBOOT flash recovery.....
you dont have to worry about finding a microsd->sd card holder to put the file on...
fastboot flash recovery (get the latest CWM img), then you can mount phone as usb storage in CWM and copy rom of your choice, then flash normally.

where can i get this p98img for my phone?
Look in the stickied threads for the General sub forum.
I've got CWM made into a PD98IMG.zip file. Rename the file from PD98IMG_recovery.zip to PD98IMG.zip. If you get a hold of an SD card reader put this on the root of the card and go to hboot, the phone will find it and ask if you want to flash it. Select yes and let it do it's thing. When it is done reboot your phone and you will have recovery again. It is an older version but it will get you back up and going until you can update it with Rom Manager.
Something worth mentioning is that after you restore something with a pd98img file, as soon as the phone is completely rebooted, move it off the root of you sd card. I would recommend creating a folder with the name of what the zip actually is and placing the zip inside it.
Good point there, man.

I had this same issue a few days ago when I tried out Virtuous Infinity. CWM 5.0.2.7 was normal until I flashed Infinity.
I'm not sure what did it, but the problem went away after
1. formatting my SD card (since I traded SD cards with my gf),
2. fastboot flashing CWM 5.0.2.7,
3. flashing Blue's wipe utilities (bottom of post), and
4. doing a clean install of CM9 A5.
As I said, I'm not sure what fixed the issue...but one of these 4 things seemed to fix it. Let me know if one of the steps works for you.
....As I finished typing this out, I started getting the intermittent data issue on CM9 A5. It's weird because I haven't had the issue for over a month since I did JuopunutBear S-OFF. I'm in North NJ and noticed you're in NYC. Just curious: have you been getting the intermittent data issue on your device at all?

I get the intermittent data bug once in a while. Right now I'm flashing the original PG59IMG.zip file and revert back to stock. I think it might be the HTCDev tool corrupting the cache partition.

I have. It seems just fine and I nor anyone else I've heard about has had one single problem from 5.5.0.4 but to err on the side of safety I've personally gone back to the last official release.....5.0.2.7. I just wish everyone would get into the habit of ALWAYS rereading the OP BEFORE making the assumption that nothing has changed since the original posting. XTC put up the warning against using CWM 6 until issues had been addressed.....if I'm not mistaken....the very same day as the original post.
We have to all remember that no developer nor code is perfect and if we don't have the time to read, read, read and reread a thread then we don't REALLY have the time to be messing around with the heart & souls of our phones. We should be aware that we are doing more than just trying out exciting new things on our phones. We are all educating ourselves.....users & developers alike. And with any education comes certain risks & costs but when it comes down to it the biggest thing we should never do is to just ASS U ME.
IMHO, of course.
This just happened to me too. CWM 6 is bad. It corrupted a backup I had when I was runnng Virtuous Iniquisition.
Go to 5.0.2.7 now. Or else, in the long run like me, your phone will just **** itself and die.

Hi all,
Firstly I am sorry for bothering you.
I foolishly underwent a full wipe in TWRP 2.3.3.0 on my HTC One S thinking i could flash a new ROM later. As I understand it there is no OS on my phone (as TWRP keeps telling me) and i am unable to perform adb push ROM.zip /sdcard which gives:
error: device not found
I can boot into recovery, currently CWM (just playing trial and error at the moment) fastboot and bootloader.
Does anyone have any insight or help with this? I am really stumped.
Thanks in advance

Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
So I (foolishly) tried to root and flash the Android Revolution ROM onto my phone but as I should have expected, I failed.I have a plethora of problems, and I am not sure what my best course of action is:
so
1) I factory reset, so I have no recovery or ROM on my phone currently
2)My phone is in a bootloop (loads the HTC screen with a disclaimer saying "this build is for development... yadda yadda yadda" and then reboots
3)My phone will NOT powerdown, I have tried to power down my phone through bootloader, and it re"boots" and returns to bootloader once again.
4)I cannot flash any files from my PC to my phone, for example: When I try to flash boot_signed.img from the Rogers Evita Stock ROM, using
fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img, I get an error message saying "FAILED <remote: signature verify fail>" and this occurs for all files I have tried to flash
5)I have tried using ARUWizard to try and get the stock ROM onto my phone with no avail. From reading the forums I believe it is because my phone is using version 1.94.631.3 but the ARUWizard can only update to previous versions which is not allowed? (I am still very confused about this) one alternative I found on the forums was to create something called a goldcard but that required a microSD card which my phone does not have capabilities for.
So this is my dilemma, I think I am thoroughly screwed... any help or advice would be appreciated
You should still have twrp recovery even if you factory reset. Reboot into twrp, mount sd, transfer over a Rom that will work, wipe all and flash

I go to recovery, and it just goes immediately back to bootloader :s
I suggest starting with this thread and see what results you get.
You flashed a ROM for a different device that has a different partition layout, and that ROM installer may have possibly wiped out your partitions and left the device unrecoverable except through a JTAG brick repair
Have you tried flashing twrp again?

If you're getting to the splash screen, you're not bricked. Don't start the unbricking stuff yet.
You need to get to bootloader and push a new recovery image. You probably screwed up your recovery partition when you flashed that Tegra 3 rom.
Once you've got recovery back, you just need to flash a correct rom.
If that doesn't work, try running a ruu from bootloader.

Okay, Ive got recovery back, but I need help either flashing the rom or running a ruu from bootloader. I am unsure of how to do either.
I tried flashing my ROM using:
fastboot flash ROM PJ83IMG.zip
but then I got the FAILED <remote: signature verify fail> message again

If you have recovery again why not try the method I listed?

Just go into your custom recovery, mount sdcard, move the rom over, and flash in recovery.

Alright, well i tried installing the ZIP I had, and it said it failed...
Maybe I should try a different zip? could someone suggest a good ROM for me that is compatible with my phone? (dont want to make the same mistake again)
I just want a ROM that has Sense, and is running at least ICS. Stability and speed are my main concerns, thanks!

Before you do anything else, you should probably double check what phone you have.
Android Revolution HD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603) is NOT for the AT&T/Rogers One X or the Telstra One XL.
If you have an international One X, then you're in the wrong place. If you do have one of the phones listed above, then you need to go here and download one of those roms. Then flash using what The_Zodiac suggested.

If I have the HTC One X Evita with Rogers, will http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868236&highlight=rogers work?

Yessir, that'll work. (I've heard good things about that ROM, though I haven't tried it myself).
Just FYI, the One X on AT&T and Rogers is known internationally as the One XL, and as far as codenames go, is known as the Evita, as you pointed out. The international One X is the Endeavor, and ROMs are not cross-compatible. If you stay in the "AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL" sub-forums here, you should be alright.
What version of twrp are you using? Try rolling back to a 2.3.x version. 2.4.x seems to have some issues.

Okay, I think I am going to go to bed, and try to approach this problem tomorrow.
I am running TWRP 2.4.x so I may try and downgrade that tomorrow. I used adb to push the ROM to my phone and it is on my sdcard
However, when I try to install the ROM, it tells me that it failed... I tried clearing all caches etc but i keep getting the same errors. The weirdest part is that when I reboot my phone, the ROM disappears...
The error that I am getting is:
E:Unable to mount '/sdcard'
E:Unable to recreate android secure folder.
E:Unable to mount '/sdcard'
E:unable to mount '/sdcard'
Updating partition details...
E:Unable to mount storage.
E:Unable to mount /sdcard during GUI startup.

This is the message that is displayed in recovery, to the letter, I'm not sure if this helps...
Obviously something to do with my sdcard is wrong, preventing connection between the sdcard and something else, but maybe you guys could dig deeper, past the elementary
Thank you guys for the help you've given me so far, the outlook for my phone is much brighter now, I will check back tomorrow and continue to try and fix my phone!
Your sdcard is indeed corrupted.
http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/sh...ountable-internal-storage-on-the-HTC-One-X-XL
Walk through that guide using the files for the Evita on that page, it should fix your sdcard. After that you can go ahead and push the rom to the sdcard again and then reflash and see if that does the trick!

How did you get Viper for the Mini???
These are likely the instructions for you, too.

I think you have usb issues. You should either try working from a fresh install of Windows or Ubuntu from disc.
Here are instructions for booting to Ubuntu from disc:

Dude. You have to use files intended for the mini. Install a recovery for the mini from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m4ul and then flash the Rom again

sorry the problems just keep coming and coming
First, you can try wiping system and data partitions prior to installing (don't wipe sd card), but I think you need to update your firmware to install sense 6 Roms.
To do that you'll need to s-off first. Revone might work for you and rumrunner should work.
Or you can try installing this sense 5.5 rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50715903
