You probably don't have write permissions on the internal storage.
(I'm using ES File Explorer. for the directions below. If you're using another file explorer the exact method may be slightly different, but the same steps apply. And I'm sure they aren't vastly different for other explorer apps.)
Long press the bootanimation file that's in there (The one you want to get rid of). Then select properties. Then change the Permissions to rw- rw- rw-.
Once you do that, just rename it to like bootanimation2.zip. You can leave it in the same directory in case you ever want the "V" animation back. Or you can delete it altogether.

I don't see anything about editing permissions when i long press

Nope. You wouldn't see permissions after long pressing because you're skipping a step.
You should see something about properties. (Again, I'm using ES File Explorer. And if you're not using ES and want to make it easy to follow my directions, go download ES File explorer from the market. It's free.)
Then in the properties menu you should see permissions.
Slow down and read the instructions carefully. It'll work!

The pop up screen doesn't say "Permissions" towards the bottom? Right above the "Show Checksum" button?
If it does, hit the "Change" button to the right of Permissions.
It should look like the screens in this post....only less Star Trek Fonty....

Alright....go to settings in es file explorer and make sure you have Root Explorer and Mount File System selected.
Then see if you can make the changes you need to.

R/w R/O in root explorer problem

How come I cant paste new apps to system/app?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
anyone atall have anytime
I'm assuming from your title that you did indeed change it from R/O to R/w, correct? If so, then why don't you just try installing the app? Is it a must that the app be located in the system/app folder? Try putting it in the data/app folder. Can u paste the file in but it doesn't show up in your app drawer? 9/10 it's because the permissions for the file are incorrect. Try that and let me know.
Do u have BusyBox installed? Because u need to to write to the system folder
Also make sure it says 'mounted as r/w' if not press the button that says 'MOUNT R/W'

Thats the thin when I enter system/app it dont give me the option to change r/o to rw
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
U need to set r/w BEFORE u enter system folder

You have to update your root explorer if you have no option to set read write. You don't have to do it before you go into system. You can do it while there right at the top right. I forget to hit it all the time when editing my build prop.

It's laid out for you there actually. Granted it's a tad cryptic but:
-bootanimation.zip--->system/customize/resource or data/local depending on rom.
Basically, download the boot animation you want (has to be a zip file) and rename it to bootanimation.zip if it isn't already renamed. Plug in your phone and move the bootanimation.zip file you want over to your SD card. After you confirmed that your bootanimation.zip file is on your SD card, then unmount/remove the phone from your computer.
Then the easiest way is to use an app called root explorer where you can copy and paste files onto your phone. In your case depends on your rom but generally located on /system/customize/resource. Just use root explorer to see if the bootanimation.zip is located there and if it is,you can simply rename the file (ie bootanimation1bkup.zip) to have it as a back up if you want to revert back. Go to root explorer, copy the bootanimation.zip file and head over to where you found your 'old' bootanimation file and before hitting paste, make sure you click the r/o button so that it reads r/w. Then paste the file. Go back and tick the r/w button again and you can exit the phone. That should do it.
Did I forget anything?

Boot animations on Virtuous Affinity?

Can I use a custom boot animation with his ROM? if I can, someone please explain the process I would go through.. I have tried nearly everything , thanks

You've tried putting it in the correct place?

where exactly might that be? I'm sorry I am new to this , I can only view my SD CARD on the file manager ? I would really appreciate it if you could walk me through it , tganks

system\customize\resource\bootanimation.zip It is not on the sd card. Use a file explorer like Root Explorer, Astro File Manager, or ES File Explorer to see and edit files in the system folder.
You're going to need a file manager that has root access. Astro File Manager does not. Root Explorer or ES File Explorer do. Use either of those to put the zip in the directory Agoattamer gave you. You may also need to change the permissions on the file. Not exactly sure if that's necessary or what exactly the permissions should be, but it's something to look at if the animation doesn't work.
I'll be damned. I use Root Explorer myself. By far the best and simplest in my opinion, although it is a paid app. And yes you have to tap on "mount R/W" to alter files in the System folder. I suspect in ES File Explorer (free) you have to do the same. Both require SuperUser.
But I always thought Astro File Manager was able to edit system files. If you do a web search there are so many websites and forum threads stating to use Astro to change permissions and edit system files. Wrong. Although it can see system files it can't mount the system folder as Writeable, only Readable. It does not ask for SuperUser permissions. Guess I will never install that app on a rooted phone.
Thanks sharksfan7 for pointing me straight.
Appreciate it guys!

Where do you get boot animations? And do they work with all roms?

I saw a cool transformers one. I want a cool one like Spiderman or something instead of my HTC boot animations. Do I just flash it from recovery?

I was a noob once
Someone has already beaten me to to the punch. Lol. And since that is already done, there's no point in wasting more precious XDA space. It completely depends on the ROM you're using. I'm using OrDroid. And the bootanimation is placed in the /system/customize/resource/ folder with the name "hTC_bootup_sensation.zip" All I do is find another boot animation made for the Sensation or it's resolution, and replace it using ES File Explorer with the root access and "mount System as rw" options checked. This location is different for ARHD. I think it's in /system/media. Browse around and locate this file first. Then the rest is easy. Hope I helped!

I'm also on ordroid and I found the location of my current boot animation and I downloaded a cool skrillex boot animation but it keeps saying animation can not be moved when I try to move it.

you have to change the permissions on the folder the original bootanimation file is on to read/write. By default the directory is set to have only read permissions

You can also make your own boot animations ax it is fairly simple to put the animations together. The only real hard part is making your pictures and scaling them to the right scale. Here is a tool to make them with if you do not want to write the text file your self. But like I said it is not hard. P m me if you want some further details.

any recommendation? i tried replacing the camera.apk with yours but still it doesn't make any difference
i'm running on stock att 1.73 rom (for a reason it shows as unknown), rooted, and unlocked
Put it in system/app then set permissions to rw-r-r using es file explorer
Make sure in es file explorer u go to setting and change setting at the bottom all three checks for the last three options on the bottom of the es explorer settings should be checked as well as the enable up to root box

This sounds about right. The camera.apk I posted is from the ROM I'm using but it's the stock app from the 1.86 base. No reason it shouldn't work.
