Stuck in bootloop. Recovery mode not working - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
I have been researching and googling all over the place and couldn't find my solution. Here is my problem with the slide:
-When turned on by pressing power button, it vibrates 5 times and went black.
-Holding power +vol down +home to go into Hboot. I went to recovery and stuck at the HTC mytouch screen.
-I also lost the original SD card. But i have others laying around
Here is what i tried:
- Put ESPRIMG.zip on sd card, clockwordmod renamed to Update.zip on sd card. Boot to Hboot and udpate. Same error.
Other methods do not apply since i can't even go to the home screen to enable usb debugging, download rom manager and etc....
Please help!!!

Repair shop?

Tried booting into Fastboot mode and using Flashtool to flash an older firmware?
My phone, even without enabling USB Debugging, will work using it
Aside from sending it in for repair I can't think of anything else
If you've got a custom rom on there already then sending it for repair won't help as your warranty is voided.

i tried using fastboot to install stock recovery or clockworkmod but keep saying "failed. remote: not allowed". I also tried other commands in fastboot but it has the same errors
@shyam: how exactly do you do that? Thanks.

i cant even create a gold card since adb doesn't work. I guess the only option is now is using fastboot. But how do i get around the error "Failed: remote not allowed". My phone has S-off

Can't you use flashmode?

[Q] Nexus s stuk on boot screen

I have rooted android devices such as the htc hero and desire so I have a bit of background. However I tried rooting the nexus s and actually didn't even root the phone. After unlocking the nexus bootloader the instructions I followed said to reboot the phone which I did. However when I rebooted the phone it stays on the Google screen with a lock at the bottom of the screen The only upside is that my phone isn't totally bricked because I can access the bootloader by pressing up and power. Someone please help I will donate if you can get my phone up and running. By the way i'm using the tmobile 3g nexus s.
You need to download a recovery image, and, superuser zip file. Put them on the root of your usb storage You, shouldn't, have rebooted the phone after unlocking the bootloader. The phone doesn't have a custom recovery yet, that's why you are seeing the triangle. Put the phone in fastboot open a terminal and type in fastboot devices you should see a line of numbers then fastboot. Then type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (with the name being the ACTUAL NAME of the recovery image you downloaded) then it should say something like writing recovery and then you can put the phone in recovery mode. As soon as the screen turns off unplug it. When it boots into recovery select flash zip from SD Card (yes we don't, have an SD Card it doesn't matter) then locate the superuser zip and select install. Reboot the phone.
Sent from my NS running NSCollab cuz I lost my tin cans and string....
When you say type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img with the name being the ACTUAL NAME of the recovery image do you mean that i replace the word recovery with the name of the file or just replace recovery.img with the name of the file?
also i can't transfer it to usb storage because it doesn't show up on my pc
You need to turn on USB storage first. Also the name of the recovery image should be something like recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-crespo.img (that would be the latest recovery from clockworkmod for our device, (crespo) Nexus S. So you would type fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-crespo.img
Also once you move the su zip and recovery img to the USB Storage turn off the phone AFTER SAFELY REMOVING HARDWARE AND TURNING OFF USB STORAGE boot into the bootloader and do the above steps typing fastboot devices first to make sure you are connected All Gamer has a really good guide in either Nexus S general or Q&A

vintagetonez; I am almost having the same issue. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed recoverymod but was unable to locate the superuser zip file so I rebooted my nexus. When I tried to start over again and fastboot I'm getting an error with CMD saying its waiting for device. On the nexus when in fastboot mode at the very bottom it says fastboot failsomething or another.
Any suggestions as to how I can get fast boot working again?!

I should also say that I have tried booting in recovery since and clockwork mod is not there anymore. Its the stock android recovery. Is this a driver issue? I can't imagine so since I was able to unlock the bootloader

Is it possible to mount the sd card in fastboot or recovery mode if it is what's the command.

With the Nexus S, you MUST REFLASH recovery every time you need it. There is a way to rename the stock recovery so clockwork mod will stick. However, I prefer to reflash it as I never have to worry about bricking my device. If you want to use the renaming method Google it using XDA Developers as a search parameter.

[Q] Bricked device - possible to recover?

I have a bricked device because the SD-CARD was broken and now I want to know if there is any chance to recovery it.
The situation:
I stored the PD58IMG.zip on the SD-CARD and tried to flash it. The problem was that the SDCARD was broken, dead, not working - whatever because the card have had corrupt file system. I was able to copy the ZIP file without errors. The bootloader flash procedure was running until spl3 bootloader and it stuck there with error message. At this point you have only one chance to get out from the bootloader with power off the device which will kill it finaly.
After investigation the image and the SD-CARD i detected that the SD-CARD was not possible to format or erase or recover becaus there where to much defect sectors.
You can switch on the device but after a view seconds it automaticaly switch off. No message. No option. Nothing.
Is there any chance to recover the device or is it realy blown up and back to the HTC heaven?
What is your CID? Does your phone boot into HBOOT? Try re-flashing the CID specific firmware through the PG58IMG.zip method. Make sure it isn't called PG58IMG.zip.zip and put it onto the root of your SD card. After this, go into recovery and try flashing a good, stable ROM. (Recommend VI)
Thanks if I helped

Does it go till the white HTC logo screen?
No! There is no chance to go into bootloader and also the HTC screen is not visible.
Power on - and after 4 or 5 sec the phone power off itself.
Currently I'm searching for a JTAG solution because I guess there is no other chance to get it back to live.
Damn!!
Can You get access to the recovery/fastboot using command via PC? (adb or fastboot)
adb reboot recovery or adb shell reboot reovery or others
Can't you run the RUU from fastboot?

[Q] stuck in boot loop / pc not recognizing phone with adb

Hi,
I tried to install a ROM but it got stuck on the white screen with the HTC logo. I tried to do factory reset but it gets stuck again. I don't have clockwork recovery, and I rooted my phone using adb and ace recovery, which is not on my phone. I only temporarily used it to flash my rom, stupid I know. :-/ When I connect my phone to the PC it is not being recognized. I tried putting the PD98IMG.zip file on my sd card but it just says that it the image is incorrect. Is there anything I can do? Is this fixable?

I just went through some similar stuff. What type of computer are you using? PC/Mac? Are you using the original cable? What troubleshooting steps for connectivity have you done? Different cable? USB port?
Can you access the bootloader screen when you pull the battery and reboot while holding the volume button down and holding the power button? By accident, I found that the phone and PC will communicate with each other when "Fastboot" is selected on the bootloader screen (you should hear a connection chime and it should change to "Fastboot USB") except I could only get fastboot commands to work. The good news is that should be enough to flash a boot or whatever else you need to get back in business.

That's great you're getting the fastboot usb message! As long as you're not using a hub or some other usb extender, any functioning usb port on the pc will do. Again, I learned this by accident (ie the hard way) and found that in this mode, only fastboot commands will work, not adb. (on a side note, and others should correct me here, adb and fastboot work together when the phone is rebooted normally or in recovery but not in the bootloader screen)
Great test for connection: fastboot devices (if you get anything else except a serial # with fastboot after it, then close the cmd window, unplug, and pull battery/reboot to bootloader), fastboot reboot-bootloader. Once it reboots back into the bootloader screen, make sure you press the power button while fastboot is selected and you should again hear the chime and see fastboot usb come up. This is your phone saying it's ready to accept your fastboot commands.
Do let us know how it works.

As far as I know, fastboot only works when your phone is in fastboot mode. ADB works in recovery or system.

Flash a rooted stock ROM from recovery. Whether you have root is in your system partition. Whether your bootloader is unlocked is in your bootloader. Whether you have a custom recovery is in your recovery partition. Three separate things.

I'm guessing that you're trying to flash a PD98IMG.zip or a RUU. You need an actual stock rooted ROM, probably from here on the forum. Or just flash Android Revolution HD, an optimized rooted stock ROM, also from here on the forum in the development section. For more specific steps read the Ace Think Tank linked in my signature.

ok, got it. Thank you again
Dear friends,
I have this problem: I got a brand new TCL S720 and the Google Play did not work, being a known rom issue. So, before doing anything, I've managed to make a backup of it's original rom with MTK Droid tools whichI supose it did it well. Then I've tried to install a CWM recovery to try a custom rom for it. The CWM recovery seemed to install succesfully but I didn't manage to install the new rom. If I remember well, it stucked on boot logo. Then tried to revert at it's original stock recovery, managed to have the phone back as it was in initial state, but doing more tries, It remained stucked on boot logo. The problem is that my computer doesn't recognise it anymore, when I connect it to USB it tries to install MTP usb driver but even before the driver was installed well, now it refuse to install, like the driver is not good or the proper driver doesn't exist. So the only thing I can do is to boot on stock recovery but even I tried to copy the original rom update.zip on external SD and to flash the phone using install update from sd card in recovery mode, It doesn't find the external sd card. So I'm stuck here, the computer doesn't detect the phone to try flashing it with SP flash tool or MTK Droid tool, and I also can't flash it from sd card. Have you any idea how to make it work again?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Stuck in "FASTBOOT MODE - NO BOOT OR RECOVERY IMG"

My NExus S is stuck on the screen that says:
Fastboot Mode No Boot or Recovery IMg.
Product Name - Herring
HW Version - Rev34
Bootloader Version - D720SPRKC5
Baseband Version - D720SPRLCI
Carrier Inro - SPR
Serial Number 32300E25C33500EC
Lock State - Locked
options to select
Reboot Bootloader (gives me exact same screen) except it only says "Fastboot"
Reboot Back to the "FASTBOOT MODE - NO BOOT OR RECOVERY IMG"
Recovery (Can boot to CWM but I can't mount anything)
Power OFF (That works fine)
Then the little green man and the android logo
Followed by USB Control INIT
USB Control INIT End
STANDARD_SET_CONFIGURATION
Conventional wisdom says download some files and fix via fastboot. However in fastbootI can't run ANY of the steps without running FASTBOOT OEM UNLOCK. When I run it my phone asks if I really want to unlock the bootloader. when I choose YEs and hit power it just freezes there.
My next thought Boot to recovery and restore. A restore through recovery followed by a reboot leads me back to the original no boot or recovery img.
Okay I'll just sideload a working rom by mounting usb storage. Then I can flash it with CWM and be up and running.
but when I try to do mount the USB Storage I get "E:Unable to write to ums 1unfile (No such file or directory)"
Finally, Last ditch Effort, I'll load up ODIN and use that to put on a working recovery. there's forums all over the place explaining how to do that right? Well yes, but the links to the Tar file are all broken.
What next my friends? I'd really like to get this phone working.

what about just using adb? Can you find it when you type fastboot devices? If so there's a command in fastboot to reboot to recovery I think.
I on the other hand am screwed. I read in another forum that it hangs on unlock because the internal memory is fubar.

Solution for me:
1. Turn device on into Bootloop
2. Connect it via USB (PC founds it)
3. type in CMD "adb reboot recovery"
4. device is in recovery
5. reflash everything i wanted :good:
Requirement is a working Android-SDK!

Need help! Super soft Bricked stock phone. Tried many methods!

Hi all. So my stock opo somehow got bricked overnight while charging. It's completely stock and I have no idea why.
Status of my problem:
-Stuck on Android boot screen.
-Able to access fastboot.
-Can't access recovery mode
-No TRWP
-it's still locked
-Tried unlocking with fastboot oem unlock cmd / toolbox but it just reboots back to android stuck screen after its done but its still locked after checking with fastboot oem device-info cmd.
*USB debugging not enabled (cant enable it cuz i cant go in my phone duh)
-Cm11 33r I think...
-Installed android adb on device manager
But couldn't detect it on the list ("adb devices" cmd)
-Able to detect serial using fastboot device cmd tho.
-Tried universal adp, adb bootloader driver, Samsung adb driver, composite driver and it still won't detect it on list.
-Tried using another usb port.
-computer doesn't detect phone unless I go on fastboot or hold power+up volume for 10 sec (this shows QHUSB_BULK)
-Tried using msm9874downloadtool.exe with cm 11, doesn't do anything even tho it's completed and it's green.
-Tried using msm9874downloadtool.exe with color os but it doesnt work as well, in fact, it made my screen have multiple grey lines vertically across my screen and no fastboot display or android display.
-Tried just flashing Cm11 33r images but it won't work cuz I'm locked.
-Tried unlocking but goes back to my other problem of device not being on the list and not having usb debugging enabled.
Tldr;
Phone stuck on Android boot screen
USB debugging not enabled
Phone is not unlocked so I can't flash anything
Thanks for your time and effort. I really need help.
I still need help guys plzzz. Thankss
Have you tried getting into download mode? I think you power it off. Connect to USB and hold vol down? Or vol down + power. Something like that. Once in DL mode, flash it. There's a tutorial somewhere.

download mode? you mean fast boot? power + down doesnt load anything. Power + up goes into fastboot mode.
And i cant flash anything because you have to unlock the phone first. But mine is not unlocked. And i cant unlock it with fastboot oem unlock cmd because all it does it reboots my phone. Yes i checked if im unlocked after that with fastboot oem device-info.
First try to go to recovery by pressing volume down+ power button at the same time and then clear data and factory reset. This will wipe out ur data on phone but u can revive ur device by flashing stock rom using flashing tolls available... Check youtube videos for flashing tools.
Once you clear the data and factory reset from recovery mlde then ur device will be at the state where there is no OS in it n just a stock kernel. Give it a try and let me know
I can't get into recovery. Power + down only stays at android boot screen.
Have the exact same issue. Did you find a fix???
Even if your bootloader is not unlocked you can flash stock rom. Use oneplus one flashtool and flash cm11s. There are plenty of videos available on net for these problem, just go through them or try the hard bricked video to solve your problem. I hope it helps you. I lost my one device because of a silly mistake so i know the pain.
I've tried flashing stock rom. Cm11 33r. But it keeps telling me I'm locked.
put it on fastboot mode, download the stock rom from this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541
Choose carefully between 16gb or 64
unzip the file and click on the flashall.bat or something like that , it's a script and it will flash everything
and you should be good
you will loose all your data, i don't know if you dont flash userdata and you remove it from the file and remove it's line from the script, maybe you wont loose your data, but try it
if you want i can help you through teamviewer
