dont know if anyone has found this in another thread or on the web, but heres a link to a version of google chrome you can download without running ics 4.0 on our atrix 2 phone. i downloaded it and been messing around with it. it looks nice but doesnt have extension as you would finfld in a full version. check it out.

Nice find! I have a tablet on ICS and i was able to play with it already. It had some bugs but i am sure when it is out of beta it will be amazing. I already love the chrome desktop browser and having them both integrated with bookmarks and etc will be awesome.

yeah, i also use it on my laptop wish i could set up the synce and such on here but its not there yet. but im a chrome user and being able to run it on something thats not on 4.0 yet is pretty nice even if its not fully built at this point. ive yet to run into any bugs as of yet, gonna keep ky eye out for a more fully functional build that can be ran on 2.3 phone and post it here if i do. i appreciate your thanks for posting this as well. (and anyone else thats may like this as well, sorry i cant thank every post)
This was a great find, I think I'm going to try this out. Chrome is a great web browser. Even better to have the Android version before ICE comes to the ATRIX 2.
This is not Chrome - this is Miren browser, just patched up to look like Chrome... Even when you first load it up, it says "Welcome to Miren browser" in a foreign language!

It's our stock browser except of the icon - the one is old Chromium (hate new 2d versions).
Just flash in CWM, no wipes.

What exactly do you mean by 2d image? The new Chrome/Chromium official icons or the one I have posted? Or it is about Windows icon for Chrome?
I mean the old official 3D icon - I still use it for shortcuts on my Windows computer.

Please dont flame me for this. I know that it's technically in the wrong section but the people who read the Development section are likely to know a bit more about this topic.
Anyway, Google Buzz. It's new, and it's pretty cool. It's built-in to the new version of Maps, but the Web App (buzz.google.com) will only work in Android 2.0 and up. I remember that before Google changed the Maps Navigation back-end, making an edit to the build.prop would make Navigation work on 1.6. So, would something similar work for Buzz?
I'm at school and I have no access to a computer with the SDK on it so I can't get at my build.prop at the moment via ADB. Could somebody test this if they get a chance?

I think If you modify browser's user agent you could use buzz. I do it with firefox.

Just open up Google Maps and it is already built into Maps 4.0, like you said in your msg...
Or do you not want to have to go that extra step?...
I mean yes it would be nice for it to work without having to use Maps, but why make extra work?

Try the build.prop's I put up earlier. It DOEN'T work in the browser on 1.6 (which is what you want).
Like a few other people have stated. Why aren't you using the new Google Maps? It has Buzz. I've been using it all day. Commenting and posting.

The Maps integration does NOT allow you access to all of the Buzz features. It only allows you to post, and comment on other Buzz posts.
AND the Buzz in maps only allows public posts. I don't really care to share location-based status updates to everyone in the world.
It's pretty goofy that the web app doesn't work in the 1.6 browser...REALLY goofy that it doesn't work in CyanogenMod with the backported Eclair browser.
The ROM cookers are doing a great job but it's really annoying that Goog seems to have basically EOL'ed Android 1.x after barely a year of service.
Google Buzz works with Maps 4.0 on cyan 2.x rom but it breaks multi-touch for some reason.

Strike the part about it working, though. There appears to be a catch. Just pushing the build.prop enables the web app but causes a Force Close of Maps whenever you try and run Maps.
Testing what happens if you push the build.trout.prop as well right now.
I cant get it to post anything in maps, but then I am running OE1.1.5Beta. got it in the browser though.
I am running 1.6 and all I did was install maps 4.0 from this forum through terminal and then went to market and it prompted me for update with google maps buzz and i did. Now I am running official google 4.0 from market on my 1.6 FastTest rom.
Okay, it turns out that there is currently no way to get both a working Maps application (at all) and the Buzz web app on Android 1.6. Looks like we'll just have to wait for Google.
MartinSchirr over at Android Forums has compiled Fennec for Android, with a demo video and everything. I've tried it to no result on my N1 (hit launch, screen went black and my phone hung; I suspect it's because I'm using apps2sd), but I dunno, maybe you guys might have better luck. Guy's server seems a tad slow, so I slapped it on Sendspace here:

Update: okay, gave it another whirl. The person responsible for compiling this wasn't kidding about 41 MB; even with apps2sd, it still takes up roughly 33 MB of internal storage. Giant ouch. And here I thought Google Earth was big.
The initial launch results in a black screen and the OS hanging. Not sure why or what it is doing there, but as iSecks said, after rebooting it works. Sort of. I can't for the life of me type in a URL. Kept poking at the address bar and inputting random letters, but no go. This was compiled for use on the Droid, so it may very well not gel with an N1 (I've got Modaco Desire ROM, for what that's worth). If anyone's had better success on an N1, I'd like to hear about it. Still, I must say that it looks a lot more sophisticated than any other Android browser available right now.

Installed it on my Droid, works. It's kinda slow, but it works. My phone hung the first time running it, but after a reboot it ran faster than I thought it would run [which was still slow for everyday use.] Nice interface though, I thought it would be harder to use than it actually was. What's nice is it has the popup for unresponsive javascript scripts that let you stop executing them.
Huh, guess Mozilla meant it when they said it's just not optimized for Android yet. I should give it another go.

I take it the name is "GeckoApp" in the Launcher. I tried it on my Nexus One and I get the big Launch button but then its just a black screen. I tried rebooting but got the same. Any idea how to fix it please?
Yeah tried on my nexus as well and its not working same launch button. I think this is weird it has no drawable folders inside and looks just weird inside.

Waited...nothing...killed it. Will keep an eye out for newer builds!
Works decent in Droid. No touch input, so at this point you need a hard keyboard. I'm sure that will be a quick fix. No multi-touch yet either. It's promising, but it has some catching up to do before it could be a replacement for stock browser.

Same issue on Droid Eris running 2.1 ROM Leak v2
Works on my droid. Stock 2.0.1. Numbers don't work on keyboard after hitting alt. Animated gifs DO work however, which is nice. It has great potential. Nice to see xda getting talked about and linked to from gizmodo. I would have never found this build. Thanks to OP.
Wont install on my CDMA Hero running Damage's 2.1. I know it won't fully function without a hardware KB. I hoped it would at least load, just for the visual.
Just force closes here on my 32A with Legend ROM.

Im afraid thats the best you will get for now unless you just use the facebook mobile or facebook touch site on your phone. Just save it as a favourite in the internet tab.

Yes there is a better one, if you download o!market free software program, once this is done then search for ' Official facebook app' this one is just like the PC version.

Yeah I really was surprised when I received my HD2 on release day and it had the older version of Facebook. I was glad that HSPL was released the next day so I could have the newer version cooked in. I know that that there is the Cab but apps always work better when cooked in.

i just use FIM (facebook instant messenger) works like a charm and has m.facebook integrated into it

FIM is great!!! Chat works really well, you get Notifications, Status Updates, Photos - everything!!! I wouldnt waste my time with the MS one, its completely useless in comparison.
Hi Guys. Sorry if this post is repeated but I just couldn't find any post on this.
Initially, i had a rom which has the youtube with user login. After cooking another rom, it goes back to the stock youtube (Ver 2.6 build 1922.4122). Thing is, i am liking the current rom i'm using.
Issit possible to get that particular youtube cab w user login? Thanks in advance guys!

Did some fondling on the HD2. Currently the device had the stock youtube. What i did was i download the generic version (from m.youtube/app) and save and installed the cab on storage card. It seems that i have both stock youtube (the 2.6 for hd2) and the 2.4.4 version. (download from youtube direct) Do take note that the latter have the username function.
Unless there is another alternative (like the one i initially requested) i hope this helps. Sorry if this repeats any thread. thanks.

Yeah, just realized that this version doesn't have high quality playback myself. That really sucks. Really was looking forward to this version since it allowed access to subscriptions...
Thats weird. I have my stock youtube (2.6) running as well as the generic version (2.4) (w/o hd but w/ login) which i installed it in storage card, so it didnt replace anything.
Like said, unless, someone had seen the cab which has the user login meant for HD2, i believe i can only recommend such.. i do apologise if it doesn't work as you've intended. It certainly is working on mine.

Don't worry...u can have both. The original one is still in the Windows directory, u just need to recreate the shortcut.
The new one has terrible video quality. it's a shame because the other features are great.

and I can get screen caps from sever browsers stating otherwise and a long list of people who also say it does not work so ya... feel free to post a video though showing that its working and what you did to back your instructions.

where did I call you a liar? I said that it wasnt working and that a lot of other people were having issues so to put pictures to back your instruction so we can see where some of us could be doing it wrong... sheesh talk about over reacting a tad.... for example maybe Im doing a step wrong so by adding pictures we get confirmation of what we are doing, so like this step "Open browser, change ua to linux desktop, mac desktop or IE6" could you expand on this a bit more?
okay the only ua string options I see is
Android - Doesnt work get message that I need to update Adobe Flash
Desktop - Doesnt work get the same message
iPhone - Does work but so far every tv show, movie, clip, or trailer I click say The video is not available on the iPhone
so ya if you can go over the string part and let us know which your using that would be appreciated.

Well, it does,
just takes the ability to know that you have to complete all the steps listed in any instructions for anything to work.
a correct way to say it, would have been something like:
"I tired your apk, and here is a pic of the error, ( insert pick here)
I see that your on such and such rom, does it only work for that style of rom, or did I do something wrong?"
Well something, somewhere around something like that.

Now,
open your stock browser
Press menu
Go to setings
(Some stock browsers make you got into Advanced settings to see next option, some don't)
Select user agent
If your browser doesn't offer this option, you fail a step and the logical next step is to get a browser/rom that has that option.
so then what browser are you using then and what string are you using, obviously it would make sense to post your exact settings if its working for you. if your running a custom string then alright Dolphin HD lets us use custom so again like you said providing more information helps and works both ways.
