[Q] HTC Titan II with Simple Mobile - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! I recently did the Smoked by Windows Phone challenge and got a free HTC Titan II. I've already unlocked it and have it working for Simple Mobile. The issue I'm having is with the internet on it. I have the exact same problem this guy was having:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557165&highlight=simple+mobile
Except that when I run the connection setup, it says "Warning: The carrier doesn't exist in database. Please contact your carrier for connection setting and go to setting>cellular>edit APN for further configuration.
I also tried chaning my APN to "simple" And another APN for t-mobile that I had found, but still no luck. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I also have a Titan 2 trying to use it on Simple Mobile. Any help would be appreciated.

you will have to look up the apn for simple mobile and then enter it under settings>cellular>edit apn
interested in your results as I have a titan 2 aunlocked on tmobile, and I can only get EDGE data speeds
since simple mobile also uses tmobs spectrum then I imagine you will be in the same boat

How to disable GPRS warning?

I have the Fuze version on at&t network. I've disabled 3G on AT&T's side so there is no way to connect through there.
Nevertheless, my phone ALWAYS tries to connect to the 3G network and i've disabled 3G connections using Nodata.cab, advancedconfig, diamondtweaks.
Still, the warning signs always come up:
"there is a problem connecting to the gprs service in your registered home network warning"
and this occurs, when I turn on the phone and many other times.
Is there a way to disable this warning? I know I cant connect, its because i disabled it!!!!
anyone? it comes up like 50x a day andi have to click OK to make it go away every single time
Have you unchecked the auto update setting for the weather program? Doing this worked for me.
did that, but didnt fix the problem. anything else that can be auto updating or trying to contact the 3G network?
Go to start -- settings -- connections -- connections --advanced -- select network.
Here I think you can change the defaults so that when ever a program tries to use internet it will either use wifi (if available) or nothing....
I have blocked the wireless internet access on all my lines and this is how I solved the problem of getting gprs disconnect warnings.
Hope this helps.
Is it possible to just disable this warning?
I'm switching between my personal and business SIM cards quite often, and I have the data connection disabled on the business card, while on personal I have a data plan, so I want to be always-online.
I disabled aGPS and now i dont get the warning as much. (remember, i disabled GPRS from att side).
when i start my phone, i get 1 warning (i used to get 3?)
maybe i'm on the right track...
But the point is not to disable features so they don't auto-connect to the Internet.
The point is for the OS to try to onnect automatically, but when it failes - it doesn't have to scream that to your face every 5 minutes.
I'm bumping this thread cause I did the same thing and want to know how to disable the message as well.
still no answer to this
Translating from Dutch, so bear with me:
Go to Personal > phone > network settings and put the band on GSM.
Note that you won't be able to use the 3G + H data connections then.
my father has the same problem on his Diamond, need help!
bump, i have the same problem as well
any solutions?
i have a solution.
download > install > and run NOGPRS.cab aka No Data. that will shut it up. i just had the same problem and i did that and now i havnt gotten any... i think i might get like one if i turn the phone on and off and what not, but other then that its fine.
Solution to GPRS warning message
Go to settings > Connections > Connections > advanced > select networks >
now check both options to 'my work network'
click ok
and reboot
the irritating message will go away.
until you again reinstall the sim into your phone and it will automatically reconfigure the settings.
Just repeat the above process.
solution
1. Tap Start.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Phone.
4. Tap the Network Tab.
5. Tap the Network Selection Drop down.
6. Tap Manual.
7. Tap the desired network.
8. Tap Ok.

Not using 3G connection

Does anybody know if it's possible for the TD2 to download weather and stock quotes using the wifi only (if available), and not 3G connection (cause it's very expensive)?
Thanks
Its set up to automatically use WiFi when available. WiFi will always override 3G..
But you can't totally disable 3G, right?
You can, by using the Switch in the Comm Manager => Data Connection
Or you can go into All settings => Personal => Buttons and configure the End Button to disable Data Connection..
I know that, but the device turns this feature back on automatically if I try to send an e-mail or receive.
Go to All Settings>Connections>Advanced Network
In the drop down menu go to disable. That is all. Should be off for good till you turn it on/
heloooo~!!!1
i confirm that weather works with wify faster than 3G. Any application will lauch faster tahn 3G in wiffy.
Any who... i have T-mobile.....US...no 3G..just Edge but it works....actually i have the Touch pro2 and i can even stream video from my own home using Orb. Edge works perfect but wiify is way better than any band u are into.
Have a nice day guys.

HTC support said to go to Connections (in Connections tab) --> Advanced tab --> select networks --> create an empty profile and use it there
what about using NODATA.CAB???
If you're talking about Modaco's nodata.cab it didn't work for me....

That was the method I used to prevent costly dial-up on my previous 2G phone, it works fine.
what I did so that my Topaz dowsn't connect to 3G: settings - all settings - connections - advanced network - and there: Enable HSDPA only
and this pretty much did the trick. I saw that instead of a 3G icon on the screen, I'd see an icon with an "E".

I am having a problem however in sending MMS files. everytime i try, there is a prompt which says, "connecting to AT&T...GPRS and 3G... and then the MMS stays in the outbox folder..this happens everytime i try to send an MMS. I am confused now as to how am I gonna use my treo phone to its maximum features.. I hope somenoe can help me on this...
Thank you.
It seems your phone is trying to access Internet using connection settings for previous US operator. Did you make all the settings for your local network (Start > Settings > Connections > etc.)?
a guide how to do it
1. Start, Settings, Connections, and then tap the Connections Icon
2. Under "My Work Network" tap Add a New Modem Connection
3. Name it Picture Messaging and under Select a modem select (GPRS,3G)
4. Under Access Point Name type: ____________ (ask your cell company)
5. Username, Password, and Domain is left blank and then click Finish
6. Now, go into Proxy Settings and check "This network connects to the Internet" and check "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"
7. Under the Proxy Server box type: _________ (ask your cell company)
8. Tap the advanced button and tap on the HTTP line. Make sure the HTTP settings shows __________ (ask your cell company)
9. Click the OK button a few times to get out of the settings completely.
10.Now go to Start, Messaging, Menu, then Options, Advance, then Click Manual, and then the Edit button
11. Message center number _________ (ask your cell company)
12. Email center number is _____ (ask your cell company)
13. MMS gateway address is ___________ (ask your cell company)
14. MMS URL is http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/servlets/mms (ask your cell company)
15. Finally under Network Profile select: My Work Network and then click ok.
Thank you very much for sending me this procedure to correct the setting of my mobile phone. I will coordinate with my Local network here in the Phils. to supply the needed settings.
Best regards,
Abrille
Dear All,
I have followed the instructions that you have given to me but still I couldn't access and/or browse the internet as well as receiving MMS format files. I tried to access and view some threads and I happened to see an email thread that gives an instruction on how to Re-flash/Unbrand a Palm Treo 750... I would like to ask your expertise Sirs if this is the next possible way or solution to solve the problem with my Treo 750? I hope someone can help me on this...thank you and more power to all.
Abrille
To access internet via Internet Explorer, you need the correct GPRS/WAP settings to tell it to use the right APN.
Try the settings listed here:
http://smart.com.ph/corporate/support/FAQs/GPRS+and+MMS+settings.htm
To set up a new GPRS connection profile use this:

[Q] att htc titan wont go to the internet

hi im using att titan unlocked, but im having problems with internet,i can see E (edge),im on simple mobile unimited plan and its so easy to set up data for simple mobile because apn is just "simple" and there is no other settings and every time after saving apn when i try to go to internet browser trying to connect to this adress :
http://androidapi.t-mobile.com/apppack/mvno.html
i know this is tmobile adress and i know simple mobile running on tmobile network but this is not the first branded unlocked phone which im using on simple mobile and i know im getting 2g im fine with that, can someone point me what to do?i try also to change some settings in native browser but there is nothing there, also every time i boot the phone it ask for unlocking code which i allready did use.. im fine even with this just need help for internet thanks
First suggestion: run Connection Setup app (from HTC Apps section in the Marketplace). If needed, you can install it using a PC.
Second suggestion: Try connecting over WiFi instead of cellular data; do you see the same weirdness?
Third suggestion: Call your operator (Simple Mobile) and ask them for help.
WiFi works just fine, when I call provider they say same things that I already did it,and about connection set up I don't have that app in HTC titan also I can't find it in market place fuf what next?

It should be in the HTC section of the market. otherwise search for "HTC" in marketplace. It has to be there. I don't know where you are, but here (germany) the apn for t-mobile internet is "internet.t-mobile". Go to T-mobile website there should be a configurator/help where they can send you a configuration sms
yes i solve problem

Mobile network is downloading items instead of loading webpage on mobile network.

Hi,
My HTC Sensation doesn't load webpages when on mobile network modus. it does through wi-fi but when i try to reach a page with my mobile network it starts downloading a file (don't know exactly what kind of file) and the internet screen just stays blank.
everything is fine if i reach the same webpage through wifi.
it's not website related because it happens with every single site i try to reach.
Thanks in advance,
Randy
I am going to go over some settings with you so you can just make sure that is not a problem with your settings getting changed.
Go to Settings/Wireless and networks/Mobile networks look to make sure you have these settings
Under Network mode make sure you have GSM/WCDMA auto checked.
Under Network operators select Search networks and when your network pops up select it. If this does not work try selecting Select automatically.
i made the steps and it looked fine when i opened the browser but after browsing to a second website i got the error again(translated from Dutch):
This type of data is not supported.
no application can be found to open this kind of file. do you want to download it?
"exit" | "Download"
