The sense 3.0 keyboard is a lot better than the sense 4.0 one. It felt like a downgrade. In sense 3.0 the keys were spaced nicely and it was actually quite hard to make mistakes.
I would rate sense 3.0 to have the 2nd best keyboard, right behind the iPhone.
You may hate me for saying it but the iPhone keyboard is the best.

There's a iPhone keyboard on the market best keyboard out for android I use it and have not made any mistakes highly recommended

Have been using AI Type which has several themes including an iphone keyboard which I use as default, it serves my needs and looks and feels a little like the iphone keyboard.

Very First Sense Rom For The G2X.

Am i the only one that would like to see a sense rom on our G2x? I think it would look pretty sick. I know we are early in the development stages, but do you guys think we will get one? If so what port or sense like rom would you LOVE to see on this device.
Sense was cool for a few days for me but i don't prefer it. Now i like the pure androidness But the g2x is pretty popular so i'm sure we'll have a sense rom.
There is a sense launcher

AFAIK Sense is built specifically for HTC hardware specs and there is no source code for it so porting it over would be extremely hard.
Just ordered the G2x , switching from blackberry
Hi,
I had enough of blackberry and enough of AT&T so im switching to Android . Soooo.. What is Sense rom and touchwiz?
Sense is the custom interface HTC puts on all their phones. Touchwiz is Samsungs UI. They do it to try and set their phones apart from one another in a market full of android phones. You dont have to use them though if you dont like them.

I'm pretty sure you can put the TouchWiz Launcher on any phone. I'm almost positive that I had installed it on my Nexus One but removed that crap within seconds.
I know for a fact I installed LG's launcher too.
Most of that stuff isn't anything but a bunch of fluff. While I prefer Stock, I do know that Sense is actually built into the rom more ways then one and you have to have the whole rom built around it.

Didn't they release a sense sdk and make it open source? Or did they just give devs tools/apis to develop for it?

i think they jsut gave out an sdk to make apps that will only work on sense devices.
if you like sense try out go launcher. it has much of what sense does without the lag. the weather app and live wallpaper is as awesome as sense(maybe not as the new weather animations) dont know but they are pretty good.
kinda a mix betwen muiu/apple and sense. its a really good launcher and has all accompaning apps to go with it.

Will android ever be pleasing on the eye?

Sure you have various skins etc but I am talking about right at the very core, take even the messaging app as an example iOS has a beautiful glass effect, android has a horrible box, even the menus etc don't come close to Apple, Sure this is all minor but I remember looking at my first iPod touch and thinking WOW just by its appearance, i've never said that about androids appearance, now functionality is a different story completely but this is purely about aesthetics.
Each to his own, I like the non gloss, but then I use the same windows theme that's on 98.. soo.. Just me maybe

I completely agree with you.
That said, MIUI should fix all of your problems.

Touchwiz is easy on the eyes so is sense in my opinion

OP, I'm not sure what you're after, but with a little work, I've gotten my Android looking much more pleasing than my jailbroken iPhone ever did. The previous suggestion of MIUI is what might be right for you. For SMS specifically, GoSMS looks fantastic, and is customizeable to boot.
That is the joy of Android. You are never stuck with what you have. You have the ability to customize everything.

Oh and this, I use Touchwiz
It has always been like that: If you want it just working for normal use, looking sharp and staying out of trouble, take the iPhone. If you are willing to put effort in it, take Android and you can make everything just a little bit better. If you are not willing to, dont..

Why would one use sense launcher??

Takes 100mb memory and looks depressing with its old layout and theme..
Because I love sense best android overlay out there

Theres hundreds if not thousands that would disagree with you. The sense launcher IMO is the most polished and smooth, I dont notice any lag like others claim. Just out of curiosity, what launcher do you prefer over sense?
Ive never really liked Sense until Sense4 came out. Sense4 is really nice, polished and fluid.
Cause its actually pretty good.
Free memory= waste.
Sense is alright, I prefer apex/nova
used to like stock android for past 3 years... but now.. i just cant go to the same boring looking of stock android after using sense 4
anyone with me?

Sense is more than just a launcher. it's a whole framework too.
Sense is the main reason I still buy HTC devices.
It's a matter of taste and opinion. If you don't like it, that's fine. Plenty of others still do.
This thread isn't very productive and it only lends itself to banterous flaming. Closing down.

[request]htc sense 4.0 keyboard for aosp roms

im starting this thread for a fellow member who posted this in android development.
so here it is. is it possible? anythings possible! all that said......try smart keyboard, theres a htc sense keyboard, plus themes that also has option for arrows.
Thanks man love the keyboard

U could try extracting HTC_IME.apk out of a sense rom.
Step 1- MAKE A BACKUP, and extract the HTC_IME.apk from any sense rom.
Step 2- dl any keyboard from the market, "temporarily", and switch to it, so that your not running the system keyboard.
Step 3- place the HTC_IME.apk into system/app using root explorer.
Step 4- in a text field long press, untill a message pops up that will give the option for input method. Pick the htc keyboard.
Step 5- if that doesnt work, try deleting the system keyboard in system/app.
Ive never tried this, so dont know if it will work. But its a good start. Good luck.

Yeah that Sense framework is quite the bugger. I'd like to see the Sense camera make its way over to AOSP, but I think thats something everyone wishes for and something I don't see happening anytime soon

Agree 100%!
Just switched from ViperXL to CM10 and as much as I love CM, I'm not sure I can stick it out without the Sense Keyboard... it was just so good. I've been running CM on at least 2 devices for the past 18 months or so, but that Sense keyboard is just the best keyboard I've ever used.

Just saw the official Nexus 4/7/10 announcement and saw this little feature...
Android 4.2 brings other great goodies like Gesture Typing, which lets you glide your finger over the letters you want to type on the keyboard—it makes typing fast, fun and a whole lot simpler.

So how long until someone either a) gets their hands on this keyboard APK; or b) comes out with a 4.2 ROM?

Do you like TouchWiz?!

So far, I installed TouchWiz, the Launcher for Samsung galaxy smartphones via recovery
Personally like this feature/mod! It's not laggy and it gives me 1 clock widget from Samsung, but deletes my current clock widgets...
Style is beautiful, but don't gives an Icon Pack!
Do YOU like TouchWiz on Htc ville ?
Send your homescreens with it
(I didn't created TouchWiz mod for htc ville... I searched and found it on xda :*)

I hate TouchWiz. Maybe that's also because I hate Samsung devices in general
My common configuration is a Sense based ROM without Sense. In fact it's without the Launcher (Prism.apk).
As Launcher I use Nova. Love the combination of speed and animation with it. Also it's very low on power consumption. TouchWiz also has a very stock look but I dont like the design elements in settings, notification bar and so on. The extra features it provides I dont miss... with Xposed Framework I get everything I need.
I really don't like the touchwiz too. Sense 5 is perfect for me
Imo touchwiz looks like a 5 year old made it in art class in the last five minutes of class I love how sense looks it's a really nice ui
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 4
No. Too cartoonish and immature looking. That's one thing why i don't and will never buy a samsung device.
I'll stay htc and sense. Updates doesn't matter much to me since why, in the first place, are we here in xda?
I cant even think of the immature touchwiz UI after using sense for the past 3+ years....
Recently switched from HTC One S running Sense 5 ROM, to the Galaxy S4
I dont mind the look of the icons, it's not like I'm staring at my screen 24/7
Sense has nice features, but I prefer TW in that department
It's like a fight
Sense 5 Launcher vs TouchWiz
I'm for sense 5 launcher^^
Back to topic:
Yea it's made "easy" but it is still good ;o
I don't know how to create a launcher, so I can't say much pros and contras ^^

Whenever I talk about Samsung like that people get upset, so I'm glad to see I'm not alone in thinking this !
(The only point I can concede to Samsung is the regular updating of their devices :angel
why i´ved buy a htc?? because i love this phone.... and i don´t like Samsung... it´s a plastic-kiddies-phone... (S2-S3-S4)
