does someone have some news about the OTA update for our desire s will it get a sense 3.5 or sense 4.0 ics rom i saw the new htc one v and it has a 3.7 inch screen a procesor 1 ghz singlecore like our desire s and less ram,we have 768 and the one v has 512 and it runs ics and sense 4.0

When there will be an official update with ics, it will have sense for sure too. I think it will be 3.6. But anyways there will for sure be some ported roms with sense 3.6 or 4.0
before the official release or leak.
you cannot find that stuff? Everything I know about that was written often in these forums. You could have find that in less the time I needed to type this reply....

i spoke to htc today thru chat online and they said desire s will get the ice cream sandwich later this year has 2 go 2 sensation 1st and it will have sense 4.0 and android 3.0 u can ask 4 ur self if u go 2 google and type contact us htc click 1st link and there a link on there called contact us

Well then i guess he (the guy you spoke to) doesn't know sh*t about android. Android v3 has been around for quite some time now on tablets. And it'll never be released officially for phones. Android 4 was built with one of the key aspects being designing a common cross-platform OS for both tablets and phones. So as far as phones are concerned, the only possible upgrade is directly from 2.3.x to 4.0.x.... Period.

I have recently(last week) spoken to HTC Greece and they comfirmed OTA update to ICS for DS in the first days of April.
Didnt mentioned anything about Sense update though.
IMO Sense will update to 3.5

Great news !!! We're only a month away from a flood of development, and 2 months (max) from perfect ICS ROMs As soon as it rolls out in any reigon, it'll be on XDA.
I was expecting a leak by now, for at least one device among the DS, DHD and IS. The Sense 3 update leaked a long time before it was officially released.
BTW, I'm 99% sure it will be Sense 3.6. It's definitely not 3.5 (although there's nothing other than small visual changes in 3.6, mostly the dock and notification panel).

Proxuser's been working on it for 3 days and he just got it to boot. Wi Fi and others will be hard to fix till a Sense kernel 3.0 is released in the update blah blah blah. We've been through this so many times

Just spoken to someone from the UK HTC site, he said that "the end of march would be more accurate for you" when asked about the release of ICS for the Desire S

well, it's here. The ICS for Desire S ported from Sensation XL, sense 3.6. A fex niggling issues like wifi not working, but supposed to be fast and stable.

Although they are already forced by law to do this.
They are currently violating the law by breaking GPL rules.
Please tweet them (@htcdev) to publish the ICS Kernel Sources, if we get them we can port Sense 4.0 way better & AOSP/AOKP/CM/.... will run smoother and better.

why are some ppl so impatient? just be happy that u r getting ics + sense 3.6 for now. i'm pretty sure we'll get an official sense 4.0 rom sooner or later, but for now HTC is focusing on releasing the ONE series and on delivering ics + sense 3.6 for their older devices.
the Sensation can run sense 4.0 for sure, but there seem to be some features for the new hardware (e.g. dual shutter camera), so some optimizations have to be made for the different hardware to get a stable rom. give them some time. i mean, look at the first ports of sense 4.0 for the desire s for example. u can run them, but several features aren't working flawlessly yet.
so just be patient. HTC also said in the past that several devices won't get sense 3.0 and those devices got 3.0 at the end...

Yea look at the HTC ones specs... Not much different from the amaze, except its uglier! We need a qaudcore device with a nice physical keyboard for T-Mobile! *with beats*

guys i am thinking of buying htc desire s .. but i want too root it with ics

It's a good phone, fast and stable
If you are buying a new phone, why not but the latest HTC One V
it had same specs as desire S, with a better camera and ICS and sense 4 out of the box. It had slightly less ram, but shouldn't be a problem
ICS upgrade of desire s is also around the corner, but with sense 3.6.
Also one v had a better screen than desire S, and is cheaper

Definitely get a One V. It has a marvelous SLCD2 display, much better than the Desire S. It has sense 4, and is very likely to receive future updates (JellyBean, maybe). While the Desire S will get Android 4, i highly doubt HTC will release any future updates.

What worries me is we will get 4.0.3 as our final software update.
Google made a partnership thing, that 4.0.3 is the default manufacture base to work on.
And now Google have released 4.0.4 with improvements in general speed etc.
We won't get that
Just like the original Desire got android 2.3.3 but didn't get updated to 2.3.5
I guess the One V will get 4.0.4 so we would live of its ports.

I like desire S and am using ported roms of sense 4.0. It's great although the camera is not working now...

like other guys says htc one v better than ds .
but if really want ds, i said good & nice phone. i really love my ds
and use miui v4 with android 4 . every thing is work . a few bugs for now , but not really emportent

it does on some roms see the development section, See INDEX link on my signature, even though camera doesn't work wonderfully now it will once the official update is released so don't let this issue concern you now

the bugs will be fixed when HTC gives us official ICS update & we get the ICS kernel from there
my dad recently got the one V so i was able to compare both the phones
the only disadvantage of one V is that it has only 512MB of RAM compared to 756 on DS,it also lacks a front cam...so no face unlock
speed wise the one v is slower as it is still in stock & my DS is running superfast endy ,but i get the feeling that the one V will be faster when i put some custom ROMs on it
but the screen & camera of the one v is way ahead of the DS
it also feels a lot thinner in the hand

Didn't release that the one v lacked a front facing camera, that's a bugger, as you say no face unlock...damn

That's a deal-breaker for me too.... Who hasn't Front camera nowadays!?!?!

Official? Never gonna happen.
Why? Because the devices more premium than ours (read Sensation lineage) have only received Sense 3.6 updates.... HTC wouldn't kick itself in the face by giving us Sense 4 after that!!
Plus the poor buggers need to sell the newer phones.... Never forget that they are a manufacturing company... their money comes from sale of new devices, which funds their R&D for further development. I'm with them on this one... besides, we have XDA for Sense 4

Who cares, it adds like nothing. Tmobile update is gonna be real good I think, clearly they made HTC change some stuff up since its taking so long. Its gonna be real nice methinks.

TBH, I don't really want sense because the overall taxing of the system.
And unfortunately there isn't a bug free version of AOSP yet, so i guess the main question is if 4.0.4 used with sense will improve anything?

I hated Sense version 3.0 and 3.6. I hated it. Did I mention I hate it?
I tried Sense 4.0 on for size and I liked it. 4.0 definitely changed my opinion of sense. It's my daily driver. I hope that BT will get fixed soon

We will get 4.0.4 with some bug fixes. However only after HTC has settled down with their One series launches worldwide. I think we will get Sense 4.0 and HTC won't leave their 2011 phone with the same Sense version as their 2010 phone cause the Desire HD will also be getting Sense 3.6.

It won't change that much with the android version.
The big deal must be done by HTC that must give a full working RUU, not a one that has still many important bugs, bugs that the Sense 4.0 Roms don't have (but they have different ones because they are portings, and that's not easy)

HTC Provided Sense 3.6 instead of Sense 4.0 because you guys should atleast get common SENSE rather than Sense4.0 buy new device to get newer softwares/UI, want an example? it's ONE V which has Sense 4.0, with hardware specs closer to Desire HD, (maybe less powerful than DHD) they launched new devices which means older ones are paper weight! I am sorry if I am so harsh..but HTC Desire Z is 1st HTC device I owned, they have completely ended its support after GB 2.3.3 update, and that's also in less than a year, look at that device Section, how active it's...Courtesy of Devs out there, people are running ICS with full hardware functions, and HTC kept users till GB 2.3.3..so that they'll buy new phones whether they have money or not...perfect business ability HTC have....so to keep it simple..through your Sensation into dustbin..forget that how expensive it was when launched..and grab new device anyhow..that's all HTC want..
