Sense 4.0 for sensation

So who thinks that we will be the first to have 4.0 on our phones....

Since the Sensation line is the first to get the ICS update, I am guessing that it might be the first to get the Sense 4.0 update as well.
No way its gonna be rolled out together with ICS

I think, that we will not get Sense 4 (with ICS). When I asked HTC on Facebook - they said, that we will get Sense 3.5 with ICS.

So, are they any screenshots about how Sense 4.0 will look like?
I was a sense defender, but I've trying the Virtuous Inquisition ROM for about a week now, and AOSP is really good, it looks nice too. I just miss a couple of things like flipping the phone to shut the ringer, the volume being turned down after taking it outside your pocket...

look there. IMO Sense 4 looks much better than 3.6<, it's elegant, smooth, maybe will be much better for memory

I got 3 GB on Dropbox for 12 months when I Installed Dropbox on the Virtuous Inquisition ROM, if relevant. I'm not sure why though... are those 5 GB permanent?

I was reading on twitter today that a dev had the endeavor ruu running quite well on the Sensation. Pretty sure he was going to release it. Sorry I don't remember his name, maybe searching will turn something up.

Well we must bear in mind that 3.6 nor 4.0 is officially released. We'll see it when we get there but I seriously hope to taste some official ICS + Sense 4

I'm pretty sure we will get it, but dunno when. But if the screen is already leaked out... I think it is not too far until mike suddenly post a news about oncoming new ROM
What I'm not sure is the quality of it. because from sense 2 to sense 3, the design is like overhauled. But seeing from the screen shots, I see no significant design improvement. (but of course it has functional improvement)

does someone have some news about the OTA update for our desire s will it get a sense 3.5 or sense 4.0 ics rom i saw the new htc one v and it has a 3.7 inch screen a procesor 1 ghz singlecore like our desire s and less ram,we have 768 and the one v has 512 and it runs ics and sense 4.0

When there will be an official update with ics, it will have sense for sure too. I think it will be 3.6. But anyways there will for sure be some ported roms with sense 3.6 or 4.0
before the official release or leak.
you cannot find that stuff? Everything I know about that was written often in these forums. You could have find that in less the time I needed to type this reply....

Well then i guess he (the guy you spoke to) doesn't know sh*t about android. Android v3 has been around for quite some time now on tablets. And it'll never be released officially for phones. Android 4 was built with one of the key aspects being designing a common cross-platform OS for both tablets and phones. So as far as phones are concerned, the only possible upgrade is directly from 2.3.x to 4.0.x.... Period.

I have recently(last week) spoken to HTC Greece and they comfirmed OTA update to ICS for DS in the first days of April.
Didnt mentioned anything about Sense update though.
IMO Sense will update to 3.5

Great news !!! We're only a month away from a flood of development, and 2 months (max) from perfect ICS ROMs As soon as it rolls out in any reigon, it'll be on XDA.
I was expecting a leak by now, for at least one device among the DS, DHD and IS. The Sense 3 update leaked a long time before it was officially released.
BTW, I'm 99% sure it will be Sense 3.6. It's definitely not 3.5 (although there's nothing other than small visual changes in 3.6, mostly the dock and notification panel).

Proxuser's been working on it for 3 days and he just got it to boot. Wi Fi and others will be hard to fix till a Sense kernel 3.0 is released in the update blah blah blah. We've been through this so many times

Just spoken to someone from the UK HTC site, he said that "the end of march would be more accurate for you" when asked about the release of ICS for the Desire S

well, it's here. The ICS for Desire S ported from Sensation XL, sense 3.6. A fex niggling issues like wifi not working, but supposed to be fast and stable.

guys i am thinking of buying htc desire s .. but i want too root it with ics
guys which is the best rom for htc desire s.. and is everything workin in it ? like cam and hw acc.?

It's a good phone, fast and stable
If you are buying a new phone, why not but the latest HTC One V
it had same specs as desire S, with a better camera and ICS and sense 4 out of the box. It had slightly less ram, but shouldn't be a problem
ICS upgrade of desire s is also around the corner, but with sense 3.6.
Also one v had a better screen than desire S, and is cheaper

Definitely get a One V. It has a marvelous SLCD2 display, much better than the Desire S. It has sense 4, and is very likely to receive future updates (JellyBean, maybe). While the Desire S will get Android 4, i highly doubt HTC will release any future updates.

What worries me is we will get 4.0.3 as our final software update.
Google made a partnership thing, that 4.0.3 is the default manufacture base to work on.
And now Google have released 4.0.4 with improvements in general speed etc.
We won't get that
Just like the original Desire got android 2.3.3 but didn't get updated to 2.3.5
I guess the One V will get 4.0.4 so we would live of its ports.

I like desire S and am using ported roms of sense 4.0. It's great although the camera is not working now...

like other guys says htc one v better than ds .
but if really want ds, i said good & nice phone. i really love my ds
and use miui v4 with android 4 . every thing is work . a few bugs for now , but not really emportent

it does on some roms see the development section, See INDEX link on my signature, even though camera doesn't work wonderfully now it will once the official update is released so don't let this issue concern you now

the bugs will be fixed when HTC gives us official ICS update & we get the ICS kernel from there
my dad recently got the one V so i was able to compare both the phones
the only disadvantage of one V is that it has only 512MB of RAM compared to 756 on DS,it also lacks a front cam...so no face unlock
speed wise the one v is slower as it is still in stock & my DS is running superfast endy ,but i get the feeling that the one V will be faster when i put some custom ROMs on it
but the screen & camera of the one v is way ahead of the DS
it also feels a lot thinner in the hand

Didn't release that the one v lacked a front facing camera, that's a bugger, as you say no face unlock...damn

Official? Never gonna happen.
Why? Because the devices more premium than ours (read Sensation lineage) have only received Sense 3.6 updates.... HTC wouldn't kick itself in the face by giving us Sense 4 after that!!
Plus the poor buggers need to sell the newer phones.... Never forget that they are a manufacturing company... their money comes from sale of new devices, which funds their R&D for further development. I'm with them on this one... besides, we have XDA for Sense 4

didn't heard anything about sense 5 for htc one s yet.. but I hope that the one s will still get updates and wont become forgotten because of the newer htcs

I'm quite certain as soon as the sense 5 build leaks our devs here will do a port. :thumbup: But I think that our One S won't get official sense 5 by HTC. Maybe one with less features...

based on how long it took htc/tmobile to release jelly bean. I doubt we will ever see sense 5.0. the best we can bet is having a developer to release it.

I'm almost sure HTC will release this for the One series devices. Soo many people use the X, XL, S, and V and are locked into contracts.
I also see no reason why they would not roll out an update. Our device is perfectly spec'ed still (even though Sense is a complete resource hog and drain) and we have plenty of room on NAND to support it. We just will have to wait about 7.6 years for HTC's slow arse (screw t-mo) to finally release it...

Before an HTC One S I had an HTC Sensation which have an hardware enough powefull to have jellybeans and Sense 4+ but HTC decide to not upgrade this device. So with the new handsets I think that HTC don't upgrade the "old" One phones

Based on this One S Ville is in a good situation though. Take a look at the pace of updating One S VilleC2

HTC can easily said that since the phone only has 1gb of ram, it will not get it or have a slim down Sense like what they did with the older phones before One. It would be a huge mistake in my opinion either way. HTC really needs to step up and support the One series more. I feel that it gives current owner a reason to continue to purchase and recommend their products.While I realize some of the camera features may not work on the current device due to potentially lack of the needed hardware, it would still be nice if HTC will try to bring a much of the new features to older phones to finally hae a unified One series.

I've read in german forums that the HTC One S/X/X+ will get updates in the next months which will including:
- Blink Feed
- Additional camera features
- Zoe (full automatic video editor)
- and hopefully more?
the article also says that the update will NOT include all features of Sense 5.

Ivicask said that sense 5 is faster than sense 4.x , because it is better optimised. So sensation will have better respond with , and also better performance. No big reason to buy new phone til 2014...

Keep telling yourself that
Sensation was released with great hardware but HTC didn't bother trying to futureproof any of it. They just released something they thought was great, and didn't bother to pay attention to the competition. Look at the hardware differences between the sensation and the gs2. Sensation has less ram and no NFC.

I see that and I don't doubt that it'll be faster. However it is still sense. Sense is bloated. Heck, I'm running cm10 and I still see lots of lag. I highly doubt sense will ever be a fast as cm.

im running CM 10 and i have no lag at all. if anything cm10 is the fastest rom i have ever had on my sensation. and i believe sense 5 can be used as a base for some very very fast roms. dont need to keep sense jus desense it and your away

Well, jb works best with 1gb ram, we don't have it so that is the main reason for lag...

Maybe once the kernel of AOSP/JB with ION can be used on cm10 and cm10 based roms,it will have a better performance.

Yes once we have Full ION capability Roms will become much faster with the new memory management ( ION ) because ION is faster than plain old Pmem

at least we got the developers that make custom roms. i hope there will be a custom sense 5 rom soon.
