DO ANYONE HAVE A WORKIN LINK FOR StockKG2ODIN.tar.md5 IM IN DYIN NEED FOR IT NOW!!!!
First off wrong section. All questions go into GENERAL Section. Thread has been reported.
Not sure that was the right way to go about it. Should go in sidekick general. We don't have a q and a section for this phone. Guy above me you could be a bit nicer. And eric no need for all caps

The guy above you did not need to be nicer.
Here I'll make him look nice.
I'm sick and tired of this, every day another post like is shows up in development. If you have a problem, stop automatically moving your hand to the damn new thread button. There is a thread with reupload links and you would have known this, if you would have looked for it. It was on the first page so it would have taken you 2 seconds to find. If you want to stay on XDA, read the damn thread rules, use the search button, and dont use caps.
Edit, also this may be wrong section. But this doesn't even belong in general. This is a useless and lazy thread.

I see there isn't a suggestion section under the captivate and decided to post here so the developers are likely to see it. Though maybe the mods can implement it as well.
I was thinking that since us noobs can never find the questions that have been asked and answered do to the staggering number of posts in some of these threads; could download threads be locked and stickied but have a link to a Q&A thread on the topic, and a separate discussion thread that is labeled for posting by devs only? I know this is more threads and maybe I'm speaking nonsense but I see a lot of people get blown off, or better yet someone answers them only to tell them to search for the answer or just put people down. Like if you are gonna take the time and space on the board to say something to someone you can't give a link and a page number.
I know you guys are super helpful, but the board is hard to navigate because of the huge number of posts, I think a Q&A topic for each download topic with a link would keep the noobs out of your hair and questions could be answered by intermediate users and not make it hard for the busy devs to communicate amongst themselves.
What do you think?

Wrong section. This section is for develpment. Period.
I vote no. 90% of the time the first post is the info/download information, and the rest of the post is the "Q&A" section you want. And the other 10% of the time the information isn't in the first post because noobs aren't going to read an entire thread and the "release" is still in "oh crap this may break stuff".
I just think its cluttered and the lay person can't navigate and the knowledgeable people are unwilling to answer the same questions too many times (understandable).
My next suggestion is to have a suggestion section.

If people used the search function, they would find answers to already asked questions. Having stickie Q/A stuff to correspond to Dev stuff sounds nice, but no one will look for it - they don't look now and search works very well.
I thought I was speaking sense but obviously its not being received.
You don't need to sticky the qa just link to it and people will find it.
Searching is unreliable because that means the phrasing needs to be close.
But I'll just let this die.

This is a duplicate post. Please don't make multiple posts about the same thing. You already asked this question in the other thread you made. Please help keep this forum clean and have this thread closed, and use the other thread you created.

As asked by our moderator, Please help keep the threads here organized and neat.
I am not trying to be a jerk here, just letting you know. Others might not be so nice about it in the future, and if a mod sees this your thread(s) will be closed, or deleted.

I reported it to our Mod a little earlier.
Yes we are strict, we have to be in order to keep XDA running.
I am closing this thread down, continue this discussion in this thread pls.
Do not flame or attack other users, consider this a warning, a friendly message should be enough in most cases. If you see anyone not doing so, please report his post and let me deal with it.
Thanks.
I have been seeing Questions starting as Topics in the dev section. I think it would help if we had are own Q&A section added to the forum for the A2. It would definitely make the dev section look a lot better and I think it will help people out in general. How do we go about getting one added or who do we contact? I well help get one added in any way that i can if someone could point me in the right direction.

If I'm not mistaken it takes so many posts or topics to get a Q&A sections added
Questions should never be in the dev section.... people are posting them in there incorrectly. We really need to report them as we see them, to our Mod and have them moved in this section.

Exactly my point. That's why i was trying to get a q&a started. For me its annoying to log into xda and i go to the dev section and see a question posted there. I go to that section for mods, roms, etc like everyone else, not for random questions. I think it would help the new people out if we had a q&a.
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
Just my 2 cents, even we don't have whole separate Q&A section, may be we should have separate Q&A thread on each ROM in general which could takes away the question posts from Development section. (May be OP with details and open for questions, so other user also help not necessarily developers)

Yeah I know what you mean, and I was not saying that a QA section was not a good idea, just the WE (those of us that pay attention to the rules, and contribute alot) need to inform the mods, when we see that happening. This will be until we get enough questions and posts in here... remember this phone is just a few months old, and we have only had our own section for a short time, in XDA life... so it will take us a few more months to hit the 2 milestones that we need.
I was just trying to do my part in getting the A2 forums on the right track. Some of the posts are just thrown here and there. I'm not a dev but do have knowledge about Android and would like to help out the new people in whatever way i can. Figured q&a was something i could do since i don't do any major development.

Please don't post in the wrong section. It's especially offensive to me when you post in the wrong section and say "I know I posted in the wrong section, but cut me slack." You know the rules and yet you broke them. Don't do it again.

You take a personal offense to that? A little overboard if you ask me. Maybe a break is needed.

Well if you know the rules and break them, being offensive isnt really overboard.

Agreed. Its like saying I know there are rules but I chose not to follow them.
For people that don't understand taking it personal. Try this. Log on to XDA for a week and not be able to read or do anything for your device cause you have to clean up after people.

my life doesnt revolve around online forums, if you guys want to be anal about me trying to pass on important information that no one is acknowledging, then ban me, this is just a hobby for me, nothing of life or death seriousness, LOL

Look it has already been moved so it is simple. Dont do it again. No harm no foul
We ALL know about the chinese dude who claims to have the method to get s-off, there is another thread about it. In fact, you already posted in the other thread so why was this necessary??? EVERYBODY ALREADY KNOWS.
well after doing the research it does appear to be a dup thread.
In that case thread closed
This is nothing new for a lot of us but since we got ics roms there have been a lot of noobs. DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS IN THE DEV THREADS. There are q&a threads for every rom so post your questions there and don't post the same question over and over. The only reason to post in the dev thread is to report bugs. Don't take this the wrong way anyone but its getting out of hand and I thought it needed to be addressed.

A good rule of thumb is ask the question once. If a answer is not given within a day bump your question dont ask again.
If your not sure what bumping a post is I will explain. You quote your previous post that has the unanswered question. If more than one was asked then just edit out the answered questions. It would look something like this.
How come this rom is so awesome?

in the case of aokp dont talk about ponies seriously I saw the vibrant forums and the dev had to lock thread for talking about ponies:highfive:
These are all true. So I won't quote anyone specifically. I know in the last few days you've seen me post a bit, but there are weeks/months where I don't post at all. I'm not always watching the forum and have A LIFE TO LIVE (I'm sure you do to ).
A few of you guys are my ifriends and iassociates. And I like helping out, its in my nature. But as you see, I ask in my OPs that people follow a few of my own rules. And as you can tell, when my rules are broken I lock my threads. Because I don't need to walk away from my computer to go hang out with my daughter and come back to a thread full of off topic garbage that you guys could have been chatting on IRC or on PM.
It used to be in my signature, maybe I should add it again.
How to ask questions the smart way, by Eric S. Raymond and Rick Moen.
This document is your howto on using forums, mailing lists and IRC. I can be honest and say that I don't always follow that document and am sometimes making my own mistakes.
Anyways, I highly recommend that everyone reads that document all the way through at least once.
Enjoy...
I hope people are taking the time to read this, but I doubt it.
