[Q] 4.0.4 or LC1 low-mic related issues? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

for the record, this is the 2nd 4.0.4 ROM that people have complained of them not being able to really hear me over the phone... I'm starting to wonder if it's 4.0.4 related or radio related? I was running kl2 on most of the 4.0.3 builds before the latest (lc1) was released along with 4.0.4
In short; anyone experience low-mic issues with this or any other 4.0.4 ROM? If you are or are not, please share your radio (baseband) & ROM combo! What would affect the mic volume? ROM, radio, kernal?
other things that might after this:
Kernal - AirKernal 3.9
Issues on:
Swamp goblin 4.0.4
Androiduser 4.0.4

I'm currently running MIUIXperience, kernel Cyanogemod 3.0.25 with radio I9020AUCK1 without this problem.
Have you tried other radios for your model?

i've only tried the latest LC1 radio... i get better 4G signal with it... but i might flash the KL2 radio...
is this issue radio related??

If you have hi-fi recording enabled in voodoo settings it can cause this.

Strangely enough... That worked lol... I swear I've had it enabled on previous versions and i didn't have these issues... I use my recorder at least once a week and talk on my phone daily so i always have it turned on but never heard anyone complain about this... I'll leave it off and turn it back on when I'm ready to record! Thanks

p.s. YESSSS!!!!! FINALLY MY 10TH POST THANKS!!!!
Be warned! The flash does work BUT be prepared to no be able to do Bluetooth calling and have low volume speakerphone. (Damn 2012 baseband!!) All roms are broken (even ice) with the sp/bt issue and there is no fix. I suggest you stick with a stock 2.3.4 build. It doesn't have these issues.

speaker loud
YES!!! the call went thru and the speaker just as loud as when i first got the phone
OK I'll try changing the irl thing and set it. I won't hold my breath if it doesnt work though.
It didnt work. I matched the bands to the 2012 march update. I guess I'll just stick with HFP 2.2 with no bluetooth voice call support. :/

Try to update to 2012 Baseband

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to update to the new baseband but everytime I run the fix my phone still says I have the july 2011 baseband. I am running Hellfire 1.8 and I tried to do it the way it says by flashing ROM, FIX, then GAPPS. but to no avail.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You must be on lg's stock Tom with the old baseband and the run lg's update tool

So I would need to go back to a stock ROM, update baseband, THEN go back to HFS 1.8 for it to go through?

I just got finished doing this, WOW the GPS has a fast lock now. Make sure that you flash the BB FIX after you restore you HFP
Guys I cant install the lg update tool. gets stuck around 10% then just stops. Im already having issues and I havent even gotten to the phone part lol help? tried rebooting laptop, running w7 64bit T420 8g RAM. I dont think its my laptop..
UPDATE: added screenshot of where setup gets stuck.
follow this thread. works like a charm. make a backup of your device first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644
the steps in this thread will restore a stock gingerbread rom. when that is done, use nvflash and put the stock recovery back on as well
reboot your phone and do the update that way (over the air). look in About Phone under system settings and you will see a menu item at the top called software update (or something similar). use that to update your phone, you will end up with GB 2.3.4 and the new baseband
if you want to use a custom rom, eaglesblood build 4 has support for the new baseband built in or you can use CM7 RC3 or a currently nightly, or you can use either kwes or buru's roms, OR owain has a bb update zip that is supposed to work on any rom
good luck!
Sorry it just turned out that it was my jobs firewall that didn't allow the install to talk to the Lg servers. I got home and it worked so I now am running HFS 1.8 with the new baseband. Thanks for everyone's help on this.

how is your BT and call quality? those are issues on all but the stock 2.3.4 that comes with the new baseband (and the tweaked roms based off it)

The only thing I've tried through BT is tethering, as I dont use a BT headset, which works great. Call quality is clearer but not a huge difference. Data drops less often now though.
Update for new baseband here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674901
As far as Bluetooth goes:

Try and get as many people to star that so perhaps the developers won't keep telling us it's "Hit or miss" and not a big issue.
I've had no luck with Bluetooth on new baseband but it works great on the stock 2.3.4 ROM from LG. Loaded with tons of bloatware to slow your phone down again.

i starred it and hope it gets fixed one way or the other and i agree, the new stock 2.3.4 works great and getting rid of bloat shouldn't be a problem however, just yesterday and today while running 2.3.4 my phone would just start getting really hot doing nothing but sitting in the holster, screen off, 4g off, BT off, wifi off, dont understand, but i put cm7 june 10 build on and now it doesnt do that
Yeah, I can run custom ROMs and all is well other than Bluetooth for call audio. My problem is I drive all day and have to use Bluetooth, so I'm stuck on stock
Hopefully it will get fixed.

Roms with working bluetooth with new baseband

Are there any roms that have working bluetooth call audio that work with the new baseband? Curretly cm7 does not.

BT on the stock 2.3.4 that came with the new baseband works. i know its not a custom rom but it is official and works pretty good

Yeah i ran official GB for a long time before switching to CM7. I dont mess with custom roms besidides stock CM, no one makes their own roms any more they just take CM and customize i think iv seen one or 2 ROMs that wernt just CM rips and they are not being updated any more its sad but what can you do. I wont switch back to stock because i love the T15 kernel and all the custom options in cm, i forgot how much i missed the black background messenger.
I am currently using Owain's Domination ROM v.77 w/new baseband and bluetooth audio is working just fine. That said, Owain just released v.78 and there are a number of bugs (bluetooth and wi-fi among them). I am sure he will have them addressed in no time with a fix all update but if you decide to go the route of Domination I would choose v.77 which is a really nice ROM for daily use. My battery life using Harsh's kernel is amazing!!
Update: Was working fine. Now my BT sounds like crap.

Roger 727 users... kernal / radio question

Been using Sean's [ROM] SKY-ICS 4.2F3-7 (UXCLF3 Base) 7/9/12 OFFICIAL ROGERS ICS AT&T/ROGERS SAFE and loving it! Keep up the great work.
Just curious to what other Roger's or other 727 users are running...
Reason being my Bluetooth seems to connect and reconnect in both of my Hyundai 2011 & 2012 vehicles... and when on a call there is a lot of reverb or echo. I'm using UCLF6 radio and SKY ICS MODDED UCLF6 kernel...
Curious...
B.
Bluetooth stack in touchwiz based roms sucks. Apparently its much better aosp, so give cm9 a go
Running CM9 latest stable release stock Kernel with UXLF3 radio using LTE.
Investigator Kernel is running great as well.
battery ...it is wat it is ...
Only main problem for me is the 160 characters limit.

Mohan is working on the BT issue, I've been running mostly his ROM's. Seans are great, but eventually I go to Embryo (mainly he has same car as me so if it works on his then good)
For BT quick fix for you on any rom would be just to flash Mohan's 1.5 Kernel and problems will be gone. Only thing is he alredy has a new one out, but BT is not fixed on it yet.
You can get 1.5 and follow the BT issue discussion in his thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701189
Don't forget to hit thanks to him, he is very dedicated to find the root and fix the BT problem.

Thanks, but did I miss something? (never told him to use CM ROM:laugh:
I'm running CM9 Stable release and have not had any issues as of yet.
I connect it to my BlueAnt ST3 and never have issues. I have even connected it to my OBD II Bluetooth module and never have a communication error.
Running stock CM kernel and I727RUXLF3 radio.
Battery gives me 1-1.5 days depending on use.

Nice.
BT issues are only with Cars and only certain model cars.
I've flashed CM10 last week it was same problem.
I'll give it a try on CM9.

no,no problem thanks for pointing this out. I meant exectly what u said, I just forget about it as Mohan has it in BIG RED letters in the thread:cyclops:
Thanks for the replies.
A buddy of mine flashed his wife's phone back to GB... issues resolved. So what's stock radio and kernel? Would not replacing those running ICS not resolve the problems?
I'm using my i727r with Mobilicity and happy to report no voice quality issue with bluetooth in vehicle.
Radio trouble
When I flash roms and install a radio, it takes for ever for it to switch to LTE. APN are all set right. I tried all radios from ATT to Rogers.
Only rom that works is ICS ATT stock tar file.

[Q] CM7 Nightly for G2x on old baseband

After months being away from my g2x, I'm back. A lot has been done with this device.
It's the latest nightly for p999 compatible for the older baseband? Is there a patch I could flash after?
Is it worth updating my baseband? I'm getting inconsistent data drops on CM7. I've done everything. I'm trying to find ROM that's stable for this device.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
It should work fine, I believe on launch it detects which you have and uses it. New baseband is peetty good, though. Just note that if you upgrade to it and use a CM based rom you will have broken blue tooth.

Hmmm...
I'm presently using CM7 #225 (02232012) and v21e baseband. I need to upgrade to the v21y baseband (using GetRIL?) so I can get WiFi calling. And I suppose I should upgrade to the latest CM7 ROM. But what's this about breaking Bluetooth?
Can you please tell me what should I upgrade first, the baseband or the ROM? And how do I prevent breaking Bluetooth?
