***Mods - I think this belongs here (whether it's useful or not). If not, have your way with it. Thanks!***
I recently had to re-flash my firmware after poking a little too deeply into my /system folder. Once I got back up and running, I checked for software updates and there was one (I imagine to take me to UELA1?). Downloaded it, asked to reboot and it failed. I thought if I could find the update, I could apply it through ADB or CWM...that's not the case either. But, here's the steps I took to find it...and unfortunately, my method requires some paid software. There may be another, cheaper way to do it, but I like easy.
Go to "Settings" > "About Device" > "Software Update" > "Update". If you've never done this, it's going to ask you what country your in.
Click on "Download" on the next screen and take note of the size of the file.

It should download the package and then ask if you want to install it or wait til later. Choose "Later" and pick any amount of time that suits you.
Knowing that in order for it to install an update at the next reboot, I figured there would have to be an auto start entry somewhere. I started up JRummy's ROM Toolbox Pro and selected "Auto Start Manager". Sure enough, there were two "Software Update" entries...
Long press on one of them and choose "Manage"
If you got lucky, like me, the "Application Info" screen will pop up and you'll see under "Storage" that it's using around the same amount of space as the download needed. If not, long press on the other and select "Manage".
Now, fire up Speed Software's SQLite Editor and it should've parsed all of the SQLite databases on your phone and given you a list of them, like so...
Now this is trial & error...select the "Software Update" database and I happen to know we're looking for one with the "wssdmdatabase.db" in it...
Select the "wssdmdatabase.db" database and you should get a screen resembling this...
Now select "Fumo" and long press the only entry under "Fumo" and select "Edit Record". You'll be presented with the following screen...
You're concerned with the entry with the arrow next to it. Enter it exactly as you see it in your browser and it will download the file to your PC. Voila!
Now, you're asking what do we do with the .bin file...good question. I was hoping someone on here might have an answer to that. Mainly because I can't stand Samsung's bloatware called "Kies". I'd love to be able to find a way to update our tabs even after root and all that good stuff.
Excellent Find! Congrats. Love It.
Will this file ever dissappear if not installed? for example, I know Kies updates will be auto deleted within about 2 minutes after updating.
bravo.
sbin/redbend_ua is used for flashing FOTA. And Kies updates are encrypted, if that helps any.

As this file now resides on your PC (or on your tab, as this process works from it also), it should remain there until you delete it.
I use kies windows temp folder capturing .md5 method
Why don't you just download the update from Samsung update server and flash it with Odin?

I guess you'll find out shortly cause i'm about to do it
Factory reset should not touch /system which is where the binary and apk reside.

Well, here are some preliminary findings
After rooting I was not able to use my phone for USB Mass storage, not exactly sure why, just an observation. Before root, it worked fine.
After FR, I am now able to use my phone for USB MS again. However, upon the first time trying to mount it as MS device I got a pop up window telling me of one or more problems on the disk (sdcard) and it said that happens when a file or files were not done writing to the card before it was unmounted. Not sure how that could have happened, but it did. It gave me two options, scan and fix Atrix 2 or scan w/o fixing Atrix 2. Choosing option 1 would run checkdisc and attempt to fix any problems found, that's what I did and it fixed the problem.
After rooting I was unable to check for system updates, let me clarify....I could physically tell the phone to check for them but I would get an error that said "Check for system update is not available at this time, please try again later."
After FR, I get a different message that states "Your device is up to date, no update necessary at this time."
After rooting I was able to use MyBackup Root to backup all my apps and stuff.
After FR, this is what I get when trying to open the app

I am going to install SU to see if that changes anything re: root access, will post back with update.
i launched Titanium Backup the other day after rebooting and it said i didnt have root. rebooted again and launched the app, root came back....its really weird... had this happen on the Atrix 1 as well. even on custom roms that are pre-rooted.
A lot of times it is because the superuser app is not running or failed to launch. Opening superuser and going back to whatever app complained usually works for me.
IMO, I haven't even rooted this device (yet) but that's my experience on my last phone.

out of all the devices i have and have had, the atrix and the atrix 2 are the only ones i have seen this on.
It's worth a try, next time it occurs. Again, I haven't done anything with this device specifically, so it could be something else.
I've decided not to try it, nothing really to gain at this point since rooting this phone doesn't accomplish much yet.
Hi, my girlfriend's Transformer is stuck at 8.6.5.13,

I have tried to update via Settings > About Tablet > System Firmware Update > but the "Check Update" button is greyed out.
I have also tried installing 9.2.1.11 via an external Micro SD card, but the card simply mounts. I have unzipped the .zip I downloaded from the ASUS site, this created another .zip file, WW_epad-user-9.2.1.1.11.zip.
If I unzip that file, I get a folder with the same name. Inside that folder is a file called blob and a folder called META-INF with RSA security certificates and another folder.
I suspect I need to update to an older update first, maybe even a few updates before I can jump to ICS. But the ASUS site only has 9.2.1.11.
I have searched extensively, and read quite a few pages of posts. But no joy.
The tablet is completely stock, not rooted and is the B50 variant. I'm not an ANDROID noob, by any stretch of the imagination. But the tablet is my girlfriends, and I have only ever played with the ZTE Blade and currently my LG O2X, running ICS (Thanks owain).
So from the fear of f*****g up my girlfriend's best gift from me. I just thought I would ask some experienced folks here for help.
I hope someone can help. Kind regards. Anil K Solanki
After you unzip the download, you will have WW_epad-user-9.2.1.1.11.zip in a folder ASUS/Update/ or something like that. I think you can try 2 things 1) Try copying the whole ASUS folder and all the contents to the root of your sdcard and then insert it onto the TF. It should find it and ask you if you want to flash or 2) rename the second zip to EP101_SDUPDATE.zip and put it on the root of your sdcard then reboot into recovery. This one might be tricky with windows because I think it is case sensitive or it might try to add a .zip to your .zip.zip. Thanks for nothing windows... Good luck with windows 8.
I think you'll need a stock recovery, but hopefully one of those methods will work so that you don't need to get a new girlfriend.
this worked for me
Go to settings - apps - all - find the DMClient entry, force close, clear cache and restart your TF
the button was not greyed out

ICE Cream Sandwich baby! Option 2 worked. I have never booted the Transformer into Recovery before, so I got to see a great animation of some gears spinning inside an ANDROID robot. Cool.
I have been asking myself, "why the f**k are you bothering with this update?". Susy my girlfriend doesn't care, as long as the tablet continues working. But after 5 mins, I can tell it is a lot faster. Worth staying up until 1.30 am for.
Many thanks. Anil

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply. Thankfully option 2 from "gee one ", sorted me out.
Have fun. Anil
Got a rooted op7p & various versions of my favourite apps installed that I don't want to update. Because there not the latest versions they stay stuck in my update list in the play store!
Is there a magisk module or app I can run to remove them from the list so I'm not constantly told to update or accidentally update it?
Think I might have solved it!
Went into Titanium backup pro, found the app, scrolled across to 'special features', then 'detach from the market'! There no longer in the update list now anyway ?
Detach is one that is for this
Titanium Backup like you found is another option
However, in my experience, both apps don't keep apps removed. After some time, they will show up again
Yeah your right, already popped back up!
Any idea how to permanently get rid of them?
You can turn off updates from the google play store itself, and it never notifies you.
Go into google play > Settings > Auto-update apps | Set to Don't auto-update apps. If I want to update something, I go in manually and choose what I want to update.
As for Magisk modules, also under settings, turn off Check Updates.
Titanium Backup was my first play store purchase for those features as well
Hi there, I have found a work around for this.

then follow the instructions on the page.
Make sure you create a txt file named as peulist.txt under root directory /data/cache/peulist.txt... once done reboot after flashing the file and include the apps with there package name that you want to exclude from the update list.

Um... any idea how you can UNDO this, so all available updates will show up again? I've tried disabling the module and rebooted, but the changes seem to stay...
Does anyone know what exactly this module does/changes? It does not seem to be really well documented...
So.. i was attempting to remove the google authentication bs from my phone. found a thread that told me to download Odin, and install this file..
COMBINATION_TMB_FA50 xxxx
I checked before "doing" this and my phone was branded as " G920TUVU5FQK1 "
I should also note, that i re-downloaded that "combination file" crap.. "COMBINATION_TMB_FA50_G920TUVU5APJ1_TMBFAC_CL6309376_QB11118299_REV02_user_mid_noship.tar" -- Which - when i looked it up was supposed to be for "G920TUVU5FQK1" system.
however, when i load the phone up now,, it says the Factory Binary loadup screen.. and now shows the phone as " G920TUVU6ARA1 "
rofl
So i looked everywhere. Went to the dumb site and downloaded my actual firmware 9for the QK1) -
G920TUVU5FQK1_G920TTMB5FQK1_G920TUVU5FQK1_HOME.tar.md5
I open Odin as admin, load in the AP section, annnnnnd this is what happens.

So now im a little frustrated... Not sure what to do.
I have used 2 different cables when connecting the computer, installed the samsung usb drivers etc.. i just cant solve this and now im asking for help.
(please provide any links you can to further help me with my problem!!!)
How screwed am i? how can i fix this? ( i do have a 2nd computer i can attempt some stuff on.)
Thanks
idk this is still works but u should try
Testing now
Video did not help,. the smart app thing didnt even give me an option to factory data reset it.
I dont know what to do. I have no idea why the phone says this new PDA, clearly i installed a combination file that was for a diff PDA.
Can anybody help. Odin just Fails, Fails Fails Fails.
bump!
I dont know what to do anymore -=(
When i connect the phone to my computer and "Turn it on on" it makes my computer blue screen of death rofl.
in download mode it doesnt though.
bump - last attempt before a take a hammer to it =)
It's unlikely due to the PDA (it's just an OS revision). Can you link us to the location where you downloaded the file ? I guess it is the content of that package that caused trouble on your phone.
Try to flash the latest firmware available (you can download it through the SamFirm software or from SamMobile.com).
Well ironically out of the 9 (nine) AP downloads i tried, all failed... but when i downloaded a stock firmware which had 4 files - it got to like 95%. and stayed there for about an hour ( not sure if thats normal?? or if i should have left it in?)
I honestly have been trying to find that exact 4 file download for my PDA version or w.e. (since this version was for a completely diff PDA - i assume thats why it stopped at 95%)
15 hours later the download is like 90% complete lol. I really... really hope this stupid downlod is not a single AP file again sigh..
Does anybody have a reccomendation for the G920TUVU5FQK1 system? ( all 4 files included )
ive googled my ass off only to find ripoff password protected .rars and "make an account to download. but on wait now you have to pay bull****"
Once i unplugged it at 95% - it now says that the OS cannot load - so thats a good sign, the Factory Binary bull**** is off of it.
I just need toget my hands on the correct 4 file .rar (all 4 files for odin) and im square.)
Much appreciated.
Hello.
Would anybody be willing to help me. I am begging here, over 3 weeks without my phone, i dont know what to do.
I would very much like it if somebody could LINK me a legit link to a Galaxy S6 920T Stock Firmware ( ALL 4 files... not just 1)
Every time i freaking find one.... i download it... it asks for a password to extract the gd .rar =(
Please help me!!!
So I have a small problem that has giving me a headache the past few days. I got an old Nokia 6.1 from my mom & was asked to get the pictures & documents from it. I removed her pattern lock, because I was annoyed to use it all the time. A couple of days later, the phone has out of the blue a security pin. Which obviously no one knows, because no one configured it...
I spent hours looking different ways to extract the data or to bypass the lock & sofar I think I ran out of all the options.
Here is my current state & I would really appreciate some advice how to proceed.
1. Find my device:
The phone is on the list. But it shows that the last activity was on the 10th january & can't be reached it even though it's connected to the internet via my mobile data. Furthermore it seems that I wouldn't be able to unlock it anyways because it only gives me two options "Call the Phone" & "Set up secure & delete".
2. Installing Aroma to extract the data/remove lock files:
I can't do that because there is no custom recovery installed on the phone. Just the stock.
3. Installing a custom recovery:
I can't install/flash anything on the phone because the developer options, usb debugging & bootloader are not unlocked/enabled.
I came as far as being able to see my dive with adb on my pc, but I couldn't flash anything of it, because the signature fails.
I'm now posting this threar, to see if anybody has some advice for me, how I could get the pictures from the phone.
Thank you all in advance~

The door to any Android device is ADB.
You say

hence ADB obviously is fullly working, means it should be possible to pull out the data in question by means of ADB.
Hi, thank you for your answer, I have expressed myself wrong/mixed adb & fastboot up. What I wanted to say, is that I can see the device via fastboot. Unfortunately not over adb.

If I understood what I read, there is no way to access the phone like this, is that correct?
Is there anything else I can do?
The Phone itself gives me an option to "Apply Update from ADB". My knowledge about this stuff is barely anything. But is there a way for example I could install/update an android version/new system without losing the internal data? At that point I don't care about the phone working properly, as I would like to get the pictures from it & root + wipe everything from it.
push
As "Apply Update from ADB" implies this option is used to flash an OS's update provided by OEM/carrier: updating an OS doesn't affect user data stored on phone.
Have you ever tried to exit phone's fastboot mode by running Fastboot commands
Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot reboot
I ended up factory resetting the phone. This Thread can be closed
If you have usb debugging on. Then you can use ADB. You can try to mount user partition and you can copy that partition.
