[Q] Help! Odin not detecting my galaxy 3. - Galaxy 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i want help please, anyone can you tell me how to get odin to detect my phone coz it is not detecting the ohne and i m stuck in d middle of installing ics on my phone.

Restart everything
Restart you phone into d/w mode (if your hardware buttons are working ), restart you computer. Now it should detect.
And while you're in the process of flashing, make sure you the cable doesn't get disconnected.

This happened with me too, I just deleted odin & again extracted it from the rom folder(In every kyrillos rom package you can find odin)...
Just delete the old odin & get a new one, it will work...

Is this the first time you are using odin in your computer ? or your already detected before only now it is not detecting ?
because odin works fine in my computer , but wen i try it in my friend's computer
it did not detect
-> reinstall your phone drivers it might help
-> if i am correct Odin detect your phone only in download mode

Come out of odin and just plug your phone in to the comp, if the comp recognises it then you know your usb drivers are working fine on phone and comp, if not then thats your problem. reinstall drivers.
If it did recognise then the problem is with odin. Theres loads of versions out there that have pathway issues and other problems due to the way theyve been aquired or packaged. try typing "I5800_Odin_Multi_Downloader_v4.252.exe" its what i did and mine works everytime.
If i helped, hit thanks

Try with another USB port. It will probably work if you´d try, because I had a similar problem. PC simply didn't recognize my Samsung Galaxy 3, but when I plugged the phone in another USB port, the phone was recognized and so was Odin. But of course it wont go without appropriate drivers.

I had the same problem yesterday and switching USB-ports didn't help. It seemed I didn't have Kies installed so the USB-drivers were missing... After installing Kies everything went fine

hey, I had the same issue.. and what I did to resolve was : I downloaded USB drivers from the below link..installed and rebooted my system..and tried again..it finally got detected..I hope it helps..
link for drivers :
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929

What worked for me was after installing the Samsung driver, I updated the driver from the Device Manager while the phone was plugged in and in download mode.Odin found the phone after that.

Stuck at downloading

So in attempt to find my way to cyanogenmod 7 today i managed to brick my phone using odin3 one click. i was able to get my phone back into download mode after reading a few tips. so my new problem is my computer saying "usb device not recogniced. one of the usb devices on this computer has malfunctioned'. i've tried reinstalling the samsung drivers for my captivate and that doesnt seem to fix the problem. Any ideas? And if i can get odin to recognize my phone, should i master clear everything before trying to flash it back to stock?
Re-install the drivers and try again. Be sure to have the ODIN 1 Click open before connecting your phone in download mode.
also try different USB ports. wouldn't be the first time a port caused a connection problem.

No...
It installs drivers if the device already has the same included...
Fit is not plug-and-play, which means you need to install drivers manually...or install kies...
Whichever you prefer...

You don't have to use it if you don't want. Installing Kies means you're installing USB drivers, you don't have to start kies everytime when you connect ur phone through usb. I've installed kies but never used it. I use it HIGHLY OCCASIONALLY.
Yup kies is waste of mem (if u ask me ) for drivers go to sammobile website registr n check our phn specific drivers its just around 25mb file dats easy if u dnt want kies
I found it easier to install drivers kies then uninstall kies

Even after installing kies it is still charging. Device is not connected to kies.
hey i am using the usb cable of galaxy ace. is it the problem? but i think these cables can be used on both the devices.
I use the same cable on 2 different blackberry's, my nokia 5310 and c3, samsung monte, and acer liquid metal...
So I don't think that's the problem...
Have you tried using a different computer?
yes i have triedon different computers also.. but its not working there too.
Hi.
I had the problem too. I did this to connect my phone:
1. Go in DownloadMode. Now, the computer must install drivers, like odin.
2. If the installation finished, hold down the Powerbutton for 10 seconds. It'll restart, if nothing happens try to start with holding the powerbutton again.
3. Then, if the phone is started, your computer finds the phone!
I'm not responsible for any damages!!!!

Odin without Samsung Kies?

Hi to all. I have this problem before, Samsung Kies wont open in my windows 7 but in xp sp3 ok. So i played games and wanna go back to directx 11 in w7 unfortunately as i have said KIES wont open and there is some problem regarding the coprocessors when i plug my sl in pc "drivers are not successfully installed" when i troubleshoot the problem is the coprocessor w/c is a nature bug in w7 drivers.
So can i "flash and use odin install Croms, Stockroms,Kernels, without installing KIES?" How about the drivers? Does the problem regarding coprocessor affects the drivers of sl?
Any help will be appreciated.
Yep.Odin requires kies usb drivers to detect your phone i.e. the comm box in Odin will not turn yellow, indicating no usb drivers
Swyped from my RemICS powered sl
Thanks for the quick respone but what do you mean by yep? You mean i CANNOT? I saw a download link for Samsung USB drivers, he said that it was extracted from the CD itself (the kies cd) so i wonder if it will work. I saw the comments and i think it was positive to them. Though its not for SGSL but i think the cd we have is universal if im not mistaken?
By yep i meant yes u do need kies for Odin.about those drivers u mentioned, the easiest way to check if they work is to see if the com box turns yellow on connecting phone in download mode...
Swyped from my RemICS powered sl
oh is that so? If Odin sees it at Yellow then there will be no more problem am i right?? Then so, even i cant open the KIES still i can be able to use odin coz i tried it before Odin com port is yellow though kies is not opening. Thanks mate!
kies is s### like rest of Samsung software....

Yes use Odin mobile. Or there is a kernel that you can flash using recovery mode right?
To flash a zipped kernel I need cwm which I don't have.
I can't flash anything with stock recovery

You don't actually need Kies to be installed to use Odin. Just make sure Samsung USB drivers are installed: [forum.xda-developers.com].
Yes ur right there. Just figured it out though before posting it here

[Q] USB device is not recognized when on "download mode"!

Hi,
I wanted to update an I9003 from Android 2.2 to 2.3.4 JPKP5 (with latona.pit, I used this combination twice with two other phones), I used odin 1.85 for this purpose.
Connected the phone to the PC, it failed to install one of the drivers, but, it appeared in odin... so, I continued :cyclops:.
the operation stopped at about the mid-way and there was "FAIL" and red slot....
Unplugged and plugged it (without restarting, and the progress bar was still there) odin recognized it but couldn't flash again, stuck at "SettingUpConnection"...
I pressed the power button to restart it... then it showed (Phone <!> PC) logo in the screen....
Turned it off by removing the battery, I doesn't boot to recovery nor normal boot...
BUT, I can go into download mode without being apple to connect it to the PC, it shows me (USB device is not recognized) and doesn't appear in odin.
SO.... What is the phone's state and what can I do to fix the problem??
Thank you in advance
you have installed the drivers in your pc? If not yet, install KIES first.
I had the same issue. Even after installing kies my com: port didn't detect . So i reinstalled Windows 7 & installed kies after that. Now odin worked perfect.

I know what you're talking about... the drivers are installed properly and I connect other device to odin properly... I can tell that the problem is because of the device... It's dead for ever!!
I think it is bricked. So try to reinstall the drivers and install any other rom. If it is not working try a JTAG repair.

how to bring back p3100 (solved)

I usually keep flashing ROMS.
This time in sheer confidence I didnt charge the battery full.
I was switching from mokee 4.4 to CM11.
I wiped everything for a fresh install and unfortunately CM11 didnt install.
The tab restarted and now it wont go into recovery. what just happened?
It is just showing logo and I cannot get into Odin more either.
The tab had about 30% battery when it shut off and I cannot reach a charger for it for the next 4 hours.
Can I switch it off in any way to save battery?
the phone has switched off now. Is service center the only alternative? the tab was rooted with mokee installed.

Try charging it when you have time and then try re flashing the stock Rom before taking it to service center
will the tab 2 charge without a recovery or ROM in place?

I think it should
Ok, the tab2 is charging. thank you
I installed all the necessary drivers and odin and recovery on my laptop.
The tab2 is giving error on pc (this device wont start) mtp uSB. THe tab is stuck at 'samsung p3100' logo.
If it is any help, I have a working p3100 also running on stock firmware.
what should be my next step? I think I can manage if only I can get odin to recognize my phone or get into recovery (both of which seem to be missing.)

Try reinstalling drivers
@shsagnik : Thank you very much for helping out.
I got installed all drivers by using the other P3100. But when I connect the bricked p3100, pc doesnt install MTP USB drivers. Under device manager it says " failed to start".
ODIN doesn't recognize it. either.
My mistake was I flashed everything on the phone including the internal memory.
PS: Can I force ODIN to recognize my phone?
Ok, my almost bricked device is back and runnning.
This might just help somebody. but my android handset was on a logo only mode. something in the combination of
Attaching it to pc (windows 7 64-bit)
re-installing and rejigging drivers
trying to let ODIN identiify
connecting via Samsung kies (I also tried restore on kies).
connecting a working android phone instead of the dead phone with pc to find and install drivers.
worked.
PS: I also let it sit dead powered off (worked only when charger was attached) for a whole day before trying to boot into recovery or bootlaoder (both worked).
