So after flashing 3.32 firmware my phone seems to be running fine. No bootloop no hang, but after i install a custom rom, when I hit the power button to lock the device it freezes. It wont come back on and I have to do a battery pull to get it working again. I have tried this on Virtuous rom, Vorbeths AOSP ICS rom, Mikes stock rom from the Sensation, as well as Hypersensation sensless rom. Is it due to the fact that my phone doesnt go well with this firmware? What should I do?
There might be a problem with the kernel cpu settings, perhaps too under volted or too slow clock during screen off.
Try mike's ARHD with Stock Kernel after superwipe.

Will try that. Ive been on stock gb and I don't like it
I want to run a AOSP rom to be truly stock can anyone recommend a kernel to fix this problem?
Bricked 3.0 and SebastianFM are both very good, check speed in SetCPU or Android Overclock or similar.
Best AOSP ROM depends on what you like, but IMO it's gotta be OpenSensation CM9.
It's weird how I was running the March release of open sensation and then when I upgraded to the aprik release it stopped working for me

Hi,
The thing is to flash mods using the same base as your ROM.
If you check my sig , I have battery mods for ARHD base 2.3.4 and 2.3.5
Check with your ROM'S dev,to see which base you are using, and then flash the appropriate mod.
ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE YOU INSTALL A MOD
For beats I installed THIS MOD ,because I am on base 2.3.5 using Sense 3.5
Or you could install ARDH 3.6.3 XE which contains beats anyway.

You can install anything you want, you just have to know what it is you want to do. Lets say you want to have beats audio (using the previous posters example). You know you have a stock ROM, version 2.3.4 most likely, so just find a beats audio only mod for 2.3.4 bases running Sense 3.0.
Or, as the previous poser says, you can install a whole ROM that already includes it. ARHD basically simulates a Sensation XE by removing the under-clocking on the CPU thats there stock bringing it up to 1.5 Ghz, adding beats audio, and overall just smoothing out the ROM. It looks the same as the stock ROM, it just works better.
The best thing to do is just make a backup of how it is now through recovery, then try stuff out and see what you like. You can always restore your backup and it will be right back to how it was before you did anything.
~T.J.
EDIT: Saw you came from ARHD. Sorry to hear about the bad luck. But yes, you can install mods without a full ROM.

Yeah I did tried 3 of the most recent arhd Rom, it is smooth and fast but has too many glitches on my phone. I tried installing the recommended radio it does fixed my signal issue, but after 3 days of using my phone keeps goin on a black screen when somebody calls me or text me so I decided to revert to stock

Interesting. Did you try turning the CPU back down to 1.2 GHz? I have ran 3.6.1 and only had one reboot before I switched to the beta kernel, never had any issues with 3.6.2 which came with the same kernel I upgraded to with 3.6.1, but I switched to bricked 0.91 kernel and its even better. Tried 3.6.3 and had a bunch of FC problems and issues so I restored back to 3.6.2.
Basically they all have worked well for me, but I've read of some people needing to stay at 1.2 GHz because of problems you have described.

I haven't tried restoring to 1.2ghz , I just restored my phone back to stock I got tired of trying all the versions and seems all of the versions I flashed had issues on my phone, don't get me wrong but I do love the speed and smoothness of arhd its just those fcs, unstable signal and not to mention the black screen issue. But like you said I haven't tried using different kernel I just used the one that came with the Rom and the other faux kernel that one of xda member suggested the beta 10. I even tried the insertcoin 3.3.9 and same issue with signal. I'm on tmobile carrier I don't know if that causes the signal issue with most of the Rom I flashed.

Well, I'm on T-Mobile also and have had no issues, thats strange. Did you flash the recommended radio also? Maybe you need to try a different one if so.
I really like the Bricked kernel, it runs faster/smoother and the battery life is better than the Faux kernels I used - at least what I've seen so far. I run Sense 3.0 so Im limited to Bricked 0.91, but its still plenty good from what I've seen. He is developing more for Sense 3.5 kernels at this point I think.
Anyway, if it was me, I would try one of the ARHD ROMs with a bricked kernel (the kernel can also affect your reception I believe). If you still have issues, try clocking it back to 1.2 Ghz. I too ran IC for a little while, but finally just settled back to ARHD for a few reasons.

Hi,
Have you tried a custom ROM with the original radio?
I know it won't be matched,but sometimes it's a needs must situation.
Use the radio that will give you the BEST signal.
It might just be that it's the only one that will work properly in YOUR area.

Thanks in advance

And if you saying that ROM is stable that means that you have no problems at all with it? No app forse closing, random reboots or sense misbehavior?

i have been using the androidHD ISC rom with 3.12 firmware and the only issue i can see is that the effects in the camera do not work. but i believe that has been fixed now with the 3.24 firmware package. 3d games work such as shadowgun and dark, no apps have FC'ed on me yet and no random reboots either. just make sure you make a nandroid backup and just test a few ICS roms out and see which one suits your needs.............................sudeki300
i'm now currently on 4.0.3 with ARHD 6.1.1
it is very smooth and i have not discovered any bugs so far.

The ICS roms are certainly stable enough for daily driver. The 3.12 based roms had a few issues, one being the use of camera effects, this was causing the camera to force close. These issues have been fixed in the new 3.24 based roms. I can't find a single issue in either arhd 6.1.1 or insertcoin 4.4.3. I haven't had a single force close or strange behavior from any part of the software

I have flashed Virtuous Inquisition v3.0.0 this morning (on my XE) and I must say, it is fantastic and beats other roms out there in terms of speed, being stable, no FC's etc.
If you don't mind that HTC Sense (the launcher etc.) is missing, I would go for this if you are wanting to try out ICS.
I have tried ARHD, InsertCoin and the RUU before this, but they were not to my liking and I found them very slow and unresponsive.
Please note, I flashed the 3.24 firmware.
I am using Leedroid 6.0.0 and have been using all the other leedroid ICS releases.
My only problem is a fc of soundset on startup and thats it.
So yes it is safe.
Thanks guys for answers I'm using now ICS ROM (InsertCoin 4.4.4 thanks to baad) and my experience is even better than it was with custom GB ROM. I guess it's partly because of me using Titanium Backup correctly now xD Everything is working and no lags

I am having some trouble with the LCD backlight on my Sensation running Virtuous Quattro A3.
To start with i tried running the ROM on 3.24 firmware but i was having some stability issues regarding reboots, so following some advice on the forums I flashed 3.12 firmware along with sebastianFM's 3.0.13 non XE 1.5 GHz kernal.
i am no longer getting the reboots that i had before yet i have found a strange bug where it doesn't matter if I use auto-brightness or set it myself the LCD backlight keeps flickering!
I have tried searching on the forums but the only thing that i could find to do with the backlight was for the buttons and that was in the ROM thread.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Jon
This sounds hardware related, though it's not guaranteed to be.
I would think it's it's hardware related you'd see the problem no matter what you were doing with the phone. Try booting into recovery and just hang out there for a while and see if you're getting the same problem.
If you are, it's a hardware problem.
If you're not, try switching to a different ROM and see what happens.
Or, just switch to a new install of Quattro. Just be sure to do a full wipe before installing a clean version of the ROM and Kernel.
Quattro is design to run on the 3.24 firmware. But I can personally confirm it works on 3.12. However, that doesn't mean that being on the wrong firmware isn't causing your problems too.
Here is how I fix my issue.
1)Pull down the notification bar.
2)Click on little dials button (it is quick settings to your screen brightness, WIFI, Bluetooth)
3)Turn on the Autobrightness, and then turn it off.
Now you should have some lights back.
Thanks for the help guys, I thought I would try doing a fresh install as you suggested, the issue still persisted.
I am pretty sure that it's not hardware as I have been fine on other roms.
I have updated to the latest 3.24 firmware do I am now on HBOOT 1.27.11 unlocked and then just flashed quattro again without the kernel this time and touch wood... I am going strong.
If I have any more difficulties I won't hesitate to ask

Virtuous Quattro Alpha 3 runs on both 3.12 and 3.24 firmwares, but 3.24 is recommended. GB ROMs run on firmwares with version 3.12 and below. GB ROMs will not boot on 3.24 firmware.
However, you can flash 3.24 for latest ICS ROMs and then go back to 3.12 for GB ones. So you'll always be able to go back to GB ROMs after ICS.
Thanks for the info.

Hi All,
I need your suggestion which best Kernel for ROM Vipers 1.6.3 except the default Kernel (Bricked)?
Currently I use the default kernel, but the wifi looks unstable (diconnected somestimes).
What I need are:
Stable and good performance kernel for daily purpose (no game used)
Better battery life
Previously I tried Sultan r17.5 but my HH has immediate reboot while got incoming call
HH: HTC Sensation XE
ROM: Vipers 1.6.3
HBOOT: 1.29.0000
Radio: 11.24A.3504.31_M
Locked Bootloader
S-OFF
You might want to change your setup. I've seen better performance compared to bricked with worthy battery trade-off.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I was reading in the forums because I have 1.6.3 since their newer version, 3.0 or something doesn't have the camera, so it's a big turn off for me until that's fixed. But they said something about flashing another kernal over could brick the device for their ROM... or ruin it for that matter. I've been in bootloops and stuff before, so I'm curious... maybe that's just for their new version? I always stick with the default kernal because I'm still learning what half the stuff is. But if you can flash a kernal to 1.6.3 then I might give it a shot.

Since I've flashed Vipers 1.6.3 the developers suggest me that use the Sultan Kernel... Daily the rom seems to be good, stable and smooth ..... except in wifi (sometimes) and with tethering/mobile hotspot (the phone or disconnect automatically the hotspot OR the phone reboots every 10-20 minutes)
With a reflash I gonna see if these problems get out!

I have noticed that with ViperS 1.6.3 you can get reboots on incoming calls when you use "auto brightness" or the "AOSP lock screen".
So try disabling them, wipe cache/dalkiv and see if the problem goes away (it did in my case).
