For anyone who is looking for the V21E Gingerbread and baseband update for the T-Mobile G2X you can get the V21E_00.kdz file directly from LG at:

Here's what a log of a successful installation process looks like:

Thanks for this...
It looks like they might be for specific phone models? There's one that's only LG P999, and the other is more specifically for the LG P999DW (T-Mobile) phones...
Going to flash the 2nd one and see what happens .
Well it looks as if I can't update... KDZ won't read my phone and always says port = -1. :/.
As far as I can tell, the only thing updated is the baseband. Fortunately, mine was updated swiftly enough it seems. Didn't get an update notification, just woke up one morning and found my reception improved a bit.

Remove battery, press and hold volume down button, and plug the phone into usb. It should show Software/Update screen within 5 seconds or so. After this the upgrade tool should be able to see it on some port

Nope tried it all. Not an amateur at troubleshooting but now that there's a new baseband, doesn't matter lol.
Thanks though.

who started the rumor that phones branded with a dwp cannot be updated with kdz firmware updater? has this been confirmed by anyone? i'm just curious if anyone with a p999dwp has updated using either kdz or lgupdate tool.

that's what i thought. i just wanted to squash this rumor. thanks.
I've tried both methods and can't get either to work. What's weird is that the sticker on my phone says DW but when i connect to LG update tool it says i have DWP, and am up to date. Also, if i unplug my phone then update drivers and plug it in, it detects my phone as DW and allows me to start the update. However by the time the LG update tool is checking my phone the computer recognizes it as DWP and tells me my S/W version is not allowed to update and refers me to LG support page.
The KDZ starts working for me but once it gets the the msg dprarm part it shows zero then on the next line that pops up it shows 3000 and doesn't move even it left to sit for a half hour. Tried this over 10 times now. The good news is my phone still works but i just have to wait for someone to figure out the problem or the OTA to be released.
Hi, I recently got my first smartphone, an LG Escape (P870). It recently came out on September 17. I figured out how to root it by following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
I was recently using titanium backup to remove some of the stock applications I didn't want. However, when I try to start up my phone it displays "Security Error". Apparently this is because I uninstalled Google Movies (see post #20)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783324
How would I go about unbricking my phone? The post linked to this, but it's for the LG Nitro HD (P930). Are they similar enough that it would work? Thanks.

Get the correct .KDZ for your phone, then use LG's kdz flasher. That will return your device to pure stock.

Thanks! but how do I get the firmware? The csmg.lgmobile.com site doesn't seem to be giving the firmware locations.
csmg.lgmobile. com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=***
Also, is this the correct firmware installer?
mediafire. com/?jkk2dwewjmfz346
Honestly, I don't know. But the KDZ file is specific to your region & carrier. I think the flasher works for all LG phones. Just look around the internet for the right kdz file.

Ok, I've looked all over and I can't find a firmware file. The LG server is supposed to have them, but I can't seem to find it.
My phone is
Model: LGP870
Region: AATTBK
Version: V10c
So the link should be this, but it doesn't seem to work for me.
hxxp://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP870/AATTBK/V10c_00/V10C_00.kdz
The BIN is on the server, so the firmware should be also, right?
hxxp://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/cs_auth_model_check.jsp?esn=***
Does anyone know how to access the firmware, or know another place to get it?
Use at your own risk:

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.
Ok, I've looked around and there are multiple files with that same version number, but are for different phones, and are different sizes. That mediafire link says that file's a year old, and my phone came out a month ago. I'll need one that matches my model.
Does anyone know where I can get the correct firmware for my phone? Or should I just go and see if AT&T will reformat it for me.
Well, I've made a decision. I'm still within AT&T's one month phone exchange time frame, so I'm going to return my Escape and probably get a refurbished S3 or HTC One.
Bricked!

Can you tell me how you did it exactly? I rooted my phone and need more details than what I'm reading here.
Bricked. Also seeking help
I also have a bricked phone.
I tried to send a text message and there was no keypad to type. I shut down phone to reboot hoping that would fix the issue. When I turned it back on I got the "security error" logo.
I had not done anything on the phone for several days.
I am going to order a new phone but would like to wake this up so I can sell it.
(PS not really happy with this phone anyway as it won't permit me to move apps to SD card and it is easy to run out of space.)
Hi, it appears that LG has released ICS for the P925G. Has anyone been able to update. How I found out is I did a phone recovery and at the end it asked to click on continue to update to ICS, unfortunately I keep hetting an error that it lost connection to the phone. Can anyone try and let me know if they were successfull ?

Then why is it giving me the option to upgrade ?
Probably the update script is changed in order to provide ICS upgrade (when available) but the server right now has no ICS in its repository (unless they use a secondary procedure which i highly doubt).

Have you updated the LG PC SUITE to the ICS VERSION?
The earlier version did not support ICS. Please try after updating the LG PC SUITE version. Maybe we have something here!!

What I did is: I went back to V21E from XBSALL guide then Followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27912354&postcount=1 to restore my IMEI : You will need at least the 2 files LG IMEI.part1 and LG IMEI.part2
Follow
Restoring IMEI
1. Connect phone by USB
2. Activate USB debug mode
3. Enter 3845#*920# in dialer if that doesn’t work try 3845#*925#
4. Select Port Settings -> Select CP Image Download
5. A new device should appear at let it install
6. Open Tutty and select serial protocol. Click on open
7. Type AT if response is not OK, change port number (it is possible that when typing you don’t see any letters)
8. Type at%imei, it should display a dummy IMEI
9. Type at%imei=x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x where x,x,x... is your orginal IMEI number (found under the battery of your phone). It should response IMEI WRITE OK
10. Reboot phone

Do you need root at all for the imei recovery or the ICS update directly from lg?
Hello everyone i sent a email to lg asking about the update this was the response i got yesterday:
"The original upgrade announcement was a general statement issued from headquarters. Each country was responsible for evaluating its product line to determine an upgrade schedule based on the individual market needs. As such, each smartphone is reviewed on a case-by-case, and country-by-country basis to plan and roll out OS upgrades.
Based on this evaluation and LG’s renewed focus on innovation, the Optimus LTE will receive the ICS upgrade in late summer. All LG smartphones released in 2012 come readily available with ICS OS, including the LG Optimus L7 and Optimus L5."
Well im kinda disappointed..
So according to them there are 196-200 countries in the whole world and only Korea offers the ICS upgrade.
Why not all the thrill/ O3D owners go on Lgs facebook, and spam them saying
"ICS FOR P920/5"
Already done plenty of times in the past..
Send from my NXE4+ P920.
Hi. Please could somebody help me. I have a UK model from orange. It's now unlocked but has orange bloatware. I have searched the forums for a debrand method but only found one, and that only works with win xp.
Is there any way to unbrand this phone with windows 7. Orange did not support this phone and it's still stuck on android 2.2.2.
Thanks in advance

I've done it a few times myself, with succes, and I think this is the way I've managed it.
*This asumes you've installed
Follow this on the official LG site: http://www.lg.com/uk/support-mobile/lg-LGP920 , and go to the tab "software update".
But instead of just updating your phone do this: Click on User/Support (above) then emergency mode, insert your IMEI and click on check
?
It didn't work i'm afraid. What's really odd is that the phone is on froyo 2.2.2 and the OTA update from the phone says there's no update available. Yet the lg update tool tells me an update is available yet after it has downloaded and about to 'install' it stops and says that the update cannot continue because a 'fatal error' has occured ?
Very odd. I'm guessing the orange bloatware is the problem. I HATE orange !
Edit. Ok, i just installed all the flashing tools to my pc (win 7) But when i open flash tool a window appears saying 'lg usb/parallel key is not detected. i'm also asked for a password and id ?

Copy the indicated file over the original as instructed or use 1.2 if you want. You also have to run the installer before using it...It might be a good idea to run it in xp sp3 compatibility mode.

Thanks drastic00. I've downloaded the link :good:
not working
I've now tried all methods and nothing works. The furthest i have got so is to hit the yellow start button on the flash tool, but the port does not become ready. I have followed all instructions to the letter.
Recheck step 1 details carefully. Be sure antivirus and Defender are off when downloading and decompressing. It won't start until drivers are installed correctly.
You should see the devices in device manager with no 'blinking' of the omap device, and LG CDMA USB SERIAL, on which you change the port number to 41. Then you are ready to flash.
That part is fiddly.
im new here so... im not sure if this is the right place to post. i have a lg stylo i have been trying to root for 3 days now and nothing. super user shows up and asks for a binary update but will not do it. root checker shows no root same with flashify. i have done factory resets and the one with the vol down key and power button. no luck super user shows up no matter what but no root no matter what method i try, the one listed here (one click?) and another like it where you add stuff manualy. i havent had any luck can someone help please. as a side note i dont know if its related to rooting my phone or a secondary issue but my rear facing camera refuse to work now. just shows black for a second then back to home screen. im on 5.1.1. thank you for reading

Most likely something else. The kdz writes all of the software and firmware back to the device just like it was brand new. This should resolve any software issues when completed successfully, which it obviously was...

I assume you haven't delete anything since you restore using kdz. If not and this app doesn't work that mean you phone is defected. Flaah my stock restore and return/exchange
