Well I'm in love with Hellfire Phoenix but I'm looking to extend my battery life to the fullest without affecting stability I do gaming and such but not too high graphical as to need a overclock or any of that.
I am currently testing the Trinity kernel that runs at 1100mhz I understand that its undervolted and still overclocked by 100mhz seems nice yes but battery still drains rather fast I mainly use it for internet browsing and that consumes a lot of battery.
I've been reading on how wifi calling pasively drains your battery just for it being there so I backed it up and uninstalled it with titanium backup.
I might say some dumb stuff or unreasonable or stuff like that .I am inexperienced at this I've been at this stuff for about 3-4 days since I realized G2X stock 2.3.3 is **** lol.

Im running the Trinity ELP kernel and it works fine for me. Battery is pretty good, I just realized I can't play games like PvZ, I don't know if its a kernel problem or an app problem because I flashed T15 and it still didn't work.

Just make a backup and try them all, there's really only a few.
also, don't be afraid to not use a custom kernel. in some situations your better off without one

hi
sorry for being such a nooby mcnooby-pants
but i just want to know which combination of roms and kernels will give me a great battery life and at the same time i want to be able to overclock to 1.5 GHz
i looked through the forums and i did all the basic stuff like
undervolting
setting profiles in setcpu
and removing all the bloatware from the phone
but everyone has a different combination and im really confused as to which combination to use
right now im using eaglesblood 2.3.7 with the dragon kernel and its really not working very well
so any and all help will be appreciated
thank you

My opinion:
1. Jump on a stock-based ROM with stock kernel and UC (underclock to 900-800 Mhz, you would be surprised you notice very little change in performance). Most stock-based ROM users report back great battery life.
2. Jump on a CM7 Nightly 199 or higher (Reports of great battery life, I can attest to this) with morfic or faux123's kernel (I prefer morfic's) which you can undervolt easily with Pimp My CPU (search XDA). I prefer it to SetCPU because the only profile I use is UC when the screen is off and with Tegra's DVFS CPU governor, it already does a good job of doing this. I also UC with this setup.
Delete Wi-Fi Calling (Kineto.apk) from your phone if you're not using it. I learned this from lotherius, it's always running in the background even when off and not in use. I was shocked to see the improvement.
I know it sounds stupid, but if you're in class or at work and don't need a barrage of updates on your phone, just turn off data. Most ROMs have a quick toggle setting to efficiently turn it on and off quickly and you'll be quite happy with how long it lasts. If you have to have data on or think it's moronic to have an Android phone that's not does not always have a data connection, battery drain is just the price that is payed.
woah.
Awesome answer
so do you think option 1 is better or 2?
does using cm decrease the battery efficiency?
if it does do you think the extra functionality in cm makes up for the batteryloss?
Thanks btw
Try miui 1.11.4 from whitehawkx with faux kernel cm-4.4

Good question, and I think that is totally up to you.
For example, my father and I both own G2x's, he runs a modified stock ROM (xboarder's ROM) and I run CM7. Without a doubt he gets better battery life than me, but at the cost of not having the features I have.
That may be a rough way of putting it but yes, using CM7 with all it's awesome features come with the price of not being as battery efficient.
The real question is if being less "battery efficient" actually means it's a bad thing. In my case it doesn't matter to me at all. Using the quick panel toggles in CM7, I only turn on data when I need it and I easily pull 15+ hours a charge because of it, assuming moderate usage.
Consider lotherius's tsugi rom, currently in version beta 3. It is my daily driver, stable, faster than 2.3.3 based roms, and excellent battery life. He has included a 2G toggle app that can automatically switch to 2g radio when screen is off to save lots of juice.

I'm going outta country and will have limited access to a charger. I'm not gonna use any data, wifi, etc. Probably just movies, music and some apps.
Anyone have suggestions for best battery life?
I get good battery life on Android 4.0

Its average for me, looking for a stable ROM also. Ics is a little buggy still, need something very lightweight.
i Think MIUI and Oxygen are very good for Battery ;-)
It seems that most people seem to tout MIUI as the trimmed-down, fast, good battery life ROM. (Never tried it myself as I like all of my extra features )
I don't know if it was just me but I had miui for months and the battery life was just a little better than ics roms. Is there any rom that stands out in term of battery life. If not,I'll just keep ics.
I am a battery saving natzi.
Using the Oxygen ROM with GlaDOS or Franco kernel with deepidle on and google talk without video installed (to make deepidle work right).
Ive also had great success with oICS V40 (now on 41 seems same) with the Matrix 12.5v Kernel and SmartAssv2 @ 1000/200. I have not been able to get deepidle to cooperate but it still get good batt life.

I'm using
Nexus Beam with
Glados 2.1 CFS Kernel
which, utilising deep idle, gets quite some battery lifetime
Greets
Oxygen + Matrix get good batt life!
I use my ns4g pretty heavily so I need a rom and kernel optimized for battery life. I'm looking for 3+ hours screen on time, something the ics roms/kernels I've had havent quite delivered. i dont wanna downgrade to gb, but I'd like to find a good combo of battery life and stability...

try this ics kernel, http://goo.gl/QAuKi its Trinity TEUV(TEI6S). its undervolted, underclocked at 880mhz, and its bus/gpu is overclocked 10% at 220mhz. its fast and great on battery. i use it with cm9, but it should be good with any ics rom
You don't even know lol ive tried and tested that decent battery but I can't live without the mods... solid performance tho
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
With all the mods, they r all good as well (icup speedy, matr1x, sg-uv etc.). The new franco.kernel is released and it runs very nice. It doesn't have mods yet but the battery life and performance are super. Also like simms said, the barebones trinity kernels are the best in battery life.
I'm running NexusBeam with franco's latest and I got like 25 hours of battery after average use.

TEUV All the way for battery performance
Matr1x v15.0 is out, has all the features and is undervolted.
I get 20-25 hours out of battery with around 4-5 hours screen on time.
Do you think using running CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS with Matr1x 14.5CFS, i could get decent battery life? i'm asking cuz i want to install ROM on Gf's phone, she still running CM7 from when i did last time, but i don't want to put a rom that lacks features. i want one feature rich that will not suck on battery life
I can't get over 2 hours screen on time MAX at all anymore. I'm running Peter Alfonso's Bugless Beast GB with GlaDOS 1.12 kernel undervolted to 880 MHz and 20% screen brightness. Even with a new Battery and a full wipe and clean install I still get terrible battery life. Anybody have any ideas? I'm dying here. Is my phone broken?
As the title says, Which Rom Do you recommend for good battey life and a Bit performance too ?
Honestly I'm pretty happy with miui sense based,I get pretty much always through the day with pretty good use.
Currently on 2.7.20

For battery life? isnt mdj's kernel overclocked? (GPU&CPU) Stock better i think.
Yes, it is overclocked but it can be lowered to 1.5 and has been tweaked to provide better battery life.
And its also known to corrupt internal storage

But GPU have to stay overclocked
I haven't experienced any corrupt internal storage issues with the kernel. I suppose that is part of the risk with flashing anything though.

You can always flash back to the stock kernel. I was also a little worried that OC'n everything would drain battery like crazy, but I easily get 1-2 days out of my phone. The biggest battery drain comes from the screen. If you're playing a game, browsing the internet, or anything else that requires the screen to be on while using the device... it doesn't matter if your processor is unclocked to 800Ghz, you'll only get a few hours (3-5) of battery life. There is no rom or kernel that is going to fix that.
If you think about it, overclocking the processor will allow you to do things faster and minimize the on-screen time.
Hi, ive been searching trough isc roms and kernels trying to find one with a good battery life, but there isnt, they all talk about customizations, power, performance but not about battery life. I flashed CM9 with its own kernel and its nice, but it got crashed some times when i was websurffing and the battery life gets like 13hrs of standby and 3 hrs of usage (wifi, network, display), so i went back to GB stock. im not sure if its an isc problem or just becuase of CM. Well id like to know if there´s an ICS rom or kernel that gives me atleast 24hrs of standby and a good stability.
And what about the CM9 crashes?, its isc´s bugs?
Im wating for a JB release, as it seems to be bettter than ICS. Thanks for reading , and sorry for this questions, is just that xda is the best place to find information as im a newbie in android c:
try the hefe kernal or one of the newer ones posted by team Fahq. Might help with stability.
Then flash the battery mod posted by itzik2sh. That made a very noticeable difference for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985073
I was running ultragen with hefe kernel+itzik2sh's battery mod and was getting very very good battery life and the phone was stable.
Also changing the governor to SmartAssV2 can result in great battery life, even if my phone is clocked to 1.2 or 1.4 GHz.
But if you do not understand overclocking, do not try it, I read a couple articles before I actually OC'ed my phone.
If you want performance and battery life pertaining to kernel, you can try Hefe or Lightning Zap.
Other than that, you can try tweaks around OUR forums and see the results. You can also install Pimp My Rom to install tweaks.

, dont worry about overclock, i know all the risks and even CM9 from team acid gives you that option. But just let me know man, what is a governor?, never heard about that, and how much time you got of battery with that?

This thing called google brought me to a link to explain governors, so I thought I was paste it for you, even though in the time to type in your question you could googled it yourself.

As to say how much battery life? Doing what? On standby? With the screen on full brightness playing GTA? Connected to data all the time?
There is no answer to that, because everyone uses the phone differently. Obviously if I say I get 2 days out of my phone and someone else gets 2 hours, maybe I only sent 15 txt messages and they watched HD Youtube off data for 2 hours while their GPS was on.
Wifi and GPS use a lot of battery when always leave on. Turn it off when u don't need it. Hefe kernel seems to help with the battery drainage issue.

Dont get mad man. About the search, ive done that, but here i can find a better and smaller answer. And about the battery,as you suere read in my first post upside i was saying in standby and a light use, and how much it lasted for me (a very short timefor a new battery). Anyways, thanks for the link .
And thanks mike y, Ill try out your combination.
I'm currently on UltraGen with Hefe-KOD kernel. Great battery life with good performance. Attached screen shots is with lite usage. Came from AOKP Milestone 6 latest build. Great battery life as well. Will probably go back to AOKP in a few days.

That battery life is because he doesn't use his phone.
Ive noticed of that, but even when I was on CM9 i got only 15 hrs on standby, either way, what thing really provides that battery life?, Ultragen or Hefe kernel?
