My guess would be the pancreatic cancer is worse than he's leading on. I wish that on nobody, but if I was in the same situation I'd probably be stepping down too. I'm sure that guy's got one hell of a bucket list
My thought is that apple's shares went down 5% right away... mmmm... and the iphone 5 is about to come out... mmmm...

I have to agree. I may not like Mr. Jobs very much but I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I hope things are as well as they can be for him in this dark time. I wish him all the best. Now that that is over. Down with icrap. Lol
Regardless of what one thinks about his products, the man was definitely a visionary and a marketing genius.
I personally think nothing will change with his absence. He will still be in the backgrounds doing quality control.
The guy is dying. That is the only reason he is leaving.
He is leaving at a good time, they are still on top and will only now start to falter. Apple will fall for the exact same reasons they failed in the 80's. It won't be a terminal fall but they will fall.
Even if I don't like him or Apple that much I still respect him and what he did. His health is worsening I believe. I saw him once in Palo Alto and man has he become thin. Good luck towards his health though.

I wouldn't pity him too much. He has the money for any and all treatments available. It's safe to say he has a panel of the best medical minds looking over his health.
Granted, it's a terrible way to go, but I'm sure he is in good hands due to his company's success.

Expected Step Down
Given his recent couple of years and the known health battle (without knowing the full extent) it is really no surprise he decided to step down. Will Apple hurt from his step down? Yes! Will Apple continue to fall? Quite possibly but only time will tell.
Regardless of previous posts about how much money he has, it is still a disease that I do not wish to see anyone with. While I did not agree with all of the Apple "mentality" I cannot find fault in Jobs ability to innovate and market the products. I can only imagine if Apple had kept him on from the beginning where Apple would be at now.

Elitism was probably a poor word choice for your argument, mate.
I mean, I don't mind chastising people for asking questions that have already been answered, really - even when it takes about 5 seconds of effort to just answer it again. But "elitist" is probably a bunch of internet addicts flipping their **** over the fact that someone DARED to violate the sacred holy rule that you don't dare ask a question twice... or thrice.... or.... three thousand times.

Well said my friend. The unfortunate fact of the internet is that in every forum (without fail) there is a very small group of self righteous pricks that troll around looking for people to "yell" at. Instead of simply ignoring a thread like hundreds or even thousand of other members do, they claim to speak "for the community" and insist on making a big scene and being obnoxious. Clearly the less duplicate threads on a given board the better, but the effort some of these guys put into not actually answering (or helping) someone is astonishing.

this is a terrible fact of XDA these days, and while ignoring it is easy enough, there are LOTS of ppl who feel that this is their "home" turf, that must be defended at all cost (im not one of them )
but the bigger problem is new members who dont even read the rules or guidelines for using the forums, they just register, dump their Q's or demands and expect an easy answer, when the answer is sitting literally right in front of them.
i do repect what aspects of the "community" that are left here with some of the most amazing devs for anything that ive seen in a long time, their ingenuity and determination is second to none (and that includes OEM manufacturers )
having said all that, this thread is dead and delt with, and hopefully the OP now knows to do a just a *little* browsing before asking a question he might/should already know the answer to, unless he's a troll, in which case, back under the bridge with him

we did help him, and hopefully he learned something along the way. i consider "iron fist" the responsibilty of not just mods/admins, but all experienced forum goers.
and if you saw sensation forum before and just after the sensation came out, you would be mildly pestered with posts like this...im not saying were better than him at all, but i, like many others, had to learn the hard way when it came to the etiquette of XDA.
5 minutes of browsing (not even searching) could have avoided this fiasco of a thread, which i do admit im mildly ashamed to be continuing, but i digress, it may have seemed harsh, but it could have been A LOT worse

Anyways, I don't know what kind of music you guys all listen to but I am a big metal fan (ya think?). I just got my hands on the new Gojira album and it is nothing short of AMAZING. For those don't know, Gojira is an environmentally conscious sludge metal outfit from France, who have yet to put out anything bad. They have a style that nobody else has, and they have the musical chops to back it up. I am very critical of new music and I am floored by this thing. The album gets a solid 9.5/10 from me. Check it out, it's called L'Enfant Sauvage. Here is the vid for the title track off their new record. Awesome song, awesome song and it only gets better from there. Enjoy \m/

They had on old lead singer Tarja Tarunen, she went solo (also good imo). The new singer is Anette, also a food signer took the band in a different direction.
If you wanna look them up I would suggest.
Tarja as lead signer: Dark Chest of Wonder, but there is so much more that is also amazing.
Anette as lead: anything from the album Imaginarium.

I never got into Nightwish. I used to be a solid Kamelot fan though and they are in the same vein...but now that Roy Khan is gone I think I'm done with them. Do you listen to Symphony X? They're in my top 5 right now, their newest album Iconoclast was ridiculously good.
Not much into Metal but I love Industrial. Metal's synth based cousin.

Perfect way of putting it. Now if we can only keep the riff raff away. LOL We're all going to need boats to get around the in Minne if the rain keeps up. Some areas have seen 10" in the last couple of days. My girlfriend isn't one of them tho. LOL Hope that wasn't too unclean. If it was let me know and I'll edit it.

Divine Heresy is pretty good, I just don't like their [old]vocalist. Tim Yeung is definitely a machine behind the kit. I saw Divine Heresy with Shadows Fall at the Vic in chicago a couple of years ago, great show. I met Dino afterwards and he was pretty douchey.

I friggen pissed, well "wicked pissed kid" that I'm unable to flash my phone tonight due to some f**ks misguided ideals of life! My wife was in the 3rd floor of the building where the first bomb went off. She's fine, but shaken. As I posted in the liquid thread, I can only hope that iphones where used as the detonators, as there would be 2 less of them in the world.
As always, the community here is fantastic, and I would like to extend my wishes and prayers out to any that are affected by this. Thanks to all, this is turning out bad for others that I'm closely associated with. Just a bad week that luckily is not as bad for me as others. Looks like our pics/videos will be helping with this investigation as a whole, which makes posting something like this here all the worth while.... Just a terrible thing to have happen.

not at all friend, but dont think for a second a majority of the people who read your post will just assume you meant "weird" or "strange". face it, most will ASSume you meant in regards to being homosexual. even if its not what you meant, it could still be offensive, and you should think about what you say and how others may perceive it before you post that on the interwebz.
also, playing off your logic here, who are you to say a man listening to one direction is queer? i think you NOT listening is rather gay.

I am more than happy to explain my use of the word when people misunderstand it and quite honestly the word stupid is offensive, but we still use it along with many other negative terms. Lastly I don't see how, "I think you not listening is rather happy" makes sense grammatically so yes I would assume you were using the homosexual meaning.

given the general societal stigma involved with men listening to whats considered to be "girl music" using the word queer with no clear or definitive meaning, and only the stigma i mentioned earlier for context, it can only lead the observer to assume you meant the opposite. dont attempt to justify your misuse of words with an analogy worth about as much as your idea its still OK to use the word "queer" when referring to a "strange" behavior. who are you to decide its queer a man listens to 1d? ok, so you personally think its queer, kewl bro. dont express that with no intentions other than to express it, bc than really your only intent was conflict, right?

Again I don't care about the general social stigma and no I didn't mean to start a conflict. I actually just really like the original meaning of queer and the way the word even sounds like its definition. Furthermore I think this conversation has gone on long enough and we should clutter this thread up anymore.
