I'm on Glorious Overdose V2. Has anyone else found a stable overclock yet or is it not stable at all? I'm running at 1.052 GHz and I haven't frozen yet. But anything higher will eventually freeze me.

generally what i saw, and had on mine for awhile was 1.2 OC
I usually overclock at 1.2 which is relatively stable, once I went up to 1.3 though, after about 5-10 minutes the phone rebooted... lol, usually I think 1.2 is the safest though.

Haha, yeah thanks. I read that too, but I was in denial. Something about the quality of the motherboard in each device.
Mine does 1.2 no problem. GOv2
Flashed Bali 2.2 over Glorious Overdose V2, bricked. Now I gotta ODIN, lol.
Edit : Back to stock, deciding where to go from here I may install GOV2 again, but flashing Bali 2.2 is impossible.
For a quick stress test, try downloading a benchmark app. OpenGL will be where you encounter problems and crashing.
I don't know of any significant overclock that is stable.
Good luck.

Thanks. Well, I ODIN'ed back to KD2 and did a clean install of GOV2. Hopefully I can overclock it, it was feeling a bit slow. And LauncherPro probably isn't the best launcher to use for it.

Overclocking with Tegrak at 1.2 GHZ on Glorious Overdose v2 with no issues after a couple hours.
Don't know what the benchmarking really proves, if anything, but mine just hit 1421 after i overclocked. is that good? lol

that's kinda why i asked if it was a good score or not. i'm pretty noobish but learnin quickly...
does it matter what i'm using to benchmark my device? i'm using quadrant standard, didnt know if they varied in results.
I'm sitting here getting to know Tegrak, there's several settings i'm not sure what to set that might help optimization, doing some further reading on that now.
i also didn't realize that when you use the free version of tegrak OC that you hafta redo the settings anytime reboot. so when i overclocked, rebooted, and ran a benchmarl test, it gave me non overclocked results. so i redid test and got 1690 this time. a far cry from your 2000+ though lol. any suggestions sir?
I've got 1951 using Quadrant.
I'll probably buy Tegrak, once some good settings are shared.
About 2000+ as a Quadrant score while overclocked with 1.2 on GOv2 sounds about right. Although mine crashes if I try to launch a game like Temple Run or something memory intensive. That's why I have to choose a much lower overclock like 1.052 or 1.1.

when i was on GOV2 i was using launcher pro + underclocked to 800mhz and was still butter smooth, and could sustain a 400mhz underclock. (after a day it would lock up and reboot.
Try something like the RD 3D benchmark.
Could also try getting GTA running on your device (provided you have the know how)...
Anyhow, heavy load with OpenGL is likely to crash your device when overclocked. If you can get a "stable" setup, have at it. Good luck.

So I found a kernel on the Fascinate forums that was built off of our EC10 froyo source that was from nemesis2all and I saw that he had added the ability to overclock and undervolt from within the ROM so I installed it just trying (backed up of course) and found that it does indeed work.
I then got the Voltage control app from the market and started playing around doing Quadrant scores throughout after each change. I found that at 1200 mhz I was getting 1600s instead of 1400s and the phone ran great. But when I tried 1400 mhz the phone froze up and restarted while doing the CPU section of the Quadrant test so I reverted back.
My question is, what would be safe to stay at for general use?
Second question, how do you use the voltage app to undervolt I see the settings but I don't know what to set them too.
Here is the link to the kernel
1200 has proven to be the most stable overclock, any higher and it will freeze up eventually.
With voltage control, the way it works is that you set the max clock and then it will give you increments that the phone will automatically clock to within the guidelines you give it. Then for each increment you can set the voltage it will use. Just look around and experiment with voltages, see how low you can go without having issues and never set it to apply at boot unless you know that's what you want, other than that go crazy and a reboot will fix it if you have a problem.
I recommend keeping setCPU installed along with it, that way you can still force it to underclock or overclock or whatever. It all depends on how much you use the phone and what for.

H'm, I tried going up to 1.3 and it would freeze up after 5 or 10 minutes every time.
Like I said, 1.2 is the only one that has proven to be safe for everybody... not each phone is exactly the same and if akellars CPU has a soldering that is done a little bit different than mine, it might allow him to clock a little higher. who knows
Sent from my MIUI SCH-i500
I've been running it for a week @ 1400 -25 undervolted and haven't had any issues. The new 1.6 gives me trouble. I don't think there's enough overvolting in that one to make it stable for pretty much anyone. I use the 1400, 800, 400, 200 steps all undervolted @50 except 1400 which as mentioned is -25. Battery life is good because during sleep it doesnt really hit the high end and by not having the other steps its snappy when in use. Fastest this phone has been by far. I don't use setcpu because I think it and the voltage app conflict. That was nemisis's instruction to install it.

Quadrant Advanced provides the breakdown for each individual area (multi-colored).

The thing about quadrant however, is it's not optimized or suited for the processor in our phones (Hummingbird). It was designed for snapdragon processors.
Additionally, Quadrant is sub par in my opinion on benchmark test apps (even though it's well known) because it does operations that aren't typical. If you get advanced you'll see that it does like 60% all IO operations, however thats a really strange test because it would be like you running a full on database on your phone.
So the scenarios and tests it runs are not representative of the scenarios you are going to use your phone to perform.
I like SmartBench better because it gives you an index for Gaming and Productivity.
Samsung Galaxy S 4G's will slightly outperform the snapdragon/adreno combo that you see in the MT4G etc. Very slight advantage. In regard to productivity it does well too.

U won't notice anything earth shattering from an extra 200 MHz. However for games and flash and videos it does help. Also improves app loading times and things like that so even though it doesn't seem to do much it does help alot when the phone is pushed to the 1ghz area

Scored 1263 Running deodexed KD1, with Bali kernel and spb shell (which is kind of a resource hog)

I don't understand what problem you are having? Did you have PB & J installed and started overclocking and the phone crashed? If you were using the Voltage Control app then it should have just rebooted and reset the clock speeds.

there is presently no way to overclock the SK4G.... sduvick has been working on adding overclocking to the Bali kernel tho. he might even still have one posted from a previous attempt, but I don't think it is stable.

actually, i sent an email to the dev of that app. they sent me an email back early yesterday morning, i gave them some info on our phone and how similar they are to the galaxy s phones they're supporting. so a this morning i checked my email and they sent a test app and it worked perfectly. the app will allow you to overclock to 1.3GHz but only 1.2GHz is stable. They told me they will update the app in the market very soon so keep an eye out, i was gunna post a thread explaining in the general when ready. i've been running @ 1.2Ghz all day it doesnt kill battery too much either. so you guys should be able to overclock pretty soon i already saw our device name on the market for their next update, i was able to reach 2068 on quadrant with my TouchMIUIwiz ROM @ 1.152GHz, i posted pics in this post
Sduvick is also working on a Custom kernel with OC
Sorry about being a bit late to the party guys, had an xbox night with my roommates last night, I'm back to work on the kernel again today, should be able to get another working test going sometime today. Pretty sure that just adding the UV stuff will make it stable, but we'll see when it's ready.
The Tegrak update for the Sidekick is out, available in the market! Running at 1.152 Ghz now, and I see that the app allows you to raise or lower voltages as well..... VERY cool app!
Edit: setting voltages is available only with the paid version.

What do you need the phone to do if you want it to be constantly at 1.5ghz?
You can try using Faux's or Trinity kernel. Both have versions that are already UV'd upon flash. Although some chips can't handle UV. Also, I believe you have to use a different app to control your voltage.
When i play games or watch movies i set it up to 1.5ghz and since school is out and no job... im kinda on my phone for a few hours. Also, i tend to forget to turn it down.
Oh yea my bad, its cpu master. I tried -100mv to all frequencies and it'll work for like a minute then it'll freeze and have to pull out the batt.
I'll check out those other kernels but this one has really fast boot. Although, which of the other kernels gets updated the most?
