After several requests from Israeli users, I have started working on a fix for the issue related to Hebrew RTL text display that plagues all MT65x3 / MT6575 based phones.

Probably, many users may have already tried to apply madmack's patch, but unfortunately that patch is not compatible with MediaTek's framework and the result is a non working ROM.
Based on part of madmack's work, I have managed to manually patch HD7 MT6573 framework and now the Hebrew text is perfectly displayed according to two users that have already tried my custom ROM.
I will post here the instructions on how to manually apply the patch to other MT65x3 / MT6575 phones framework. Until then, and for those that don't know how to do it, you can send me the original ROM designed for your phone and I can patch it.
In order to fix Hebrew text display on MT65x3 / MT6575 based phones frameworks, you will need two files:
framework.jar (patched)
libicuuc-arabic.so (from madmack's patch, under REQUIRED-IMPORTANT folder)
Here's how to manually patch framework.jar:
Decompile framework.jar
Copy the file ArabicShaper.smali and RTLTextUtils.smali (grab the files from madmack's patch, under files\gingerbread\text\util folder) into android\text\utils folder
Edit android\graphics\canvas.smali and replace the following functions by the good ones which can be found on canvas.smali from madmack's patch (under files\gingerbread\graphics folder):
Code:
.method public drawPosText(Ljava/lang/String;[FLandroid/graphics/Paint;)V
.method public drawPosText([CII[FLandroid/graphics/Paint;)V
.method public drawText(Ljava/lang/CharSequence;IIFFLandroid/graphics/Paint;)V
.method public drawText(Ljava/lang/String;IIFFLandroid/graphics/Paint;)V
.method public drawText([CIIFFLandroid/graphics/Paint;)V
.method public drawTextOnPath(Ljava/lang/String;Landroid/graphics/Path;FFLandroid/graphics/Paint;)V
.method public drawTextOnPath([CIILandroid/graphics/Path;FFLandroid/graphics/Paint;)V
Recompile framework.jar
Now the two files need to be pushed into the phone and you're done:
Code:
adb push framework.jar /system/framework
adb push libicuuc-arabic.so /system/lib

Taking into consideration that your ROM is odexed, I really need the full ROM in order to deodex it and only then apply the fix.
i have found on a site the ROM.

Okay, I will download that ROM, apply the fix and then re-upload the modified ROM. As soon as I finish I will post it here.

It's hard to answer, but if the problem is similar the chances are high. Let's hope that is fixed out-of-the-box on MT6575 based devices. Besides, Android 4.0 fully supports Arabic shaping, so with ICS based ROMs that should not be a problem any more.

I didn't include the kernel because it breaks XDA GPL Policy
If I am not wrong if we are including a kernel in the rom .zip package we have to provide the links for Kernel Source which unfortunately MTK Device Makers don't provide

which languages does your ROM include ?
@C3C076
could it be a good base for ThL W8 8GB you're working on ? I'd really like to test MIUI v5... but was unabled to test it in French on my ThL W8 8GB... also do I with Lewa UI.
A base? For what? I'm not sure if I understand.
If you mean languages. These have to be ported into this ROM. As far as I know there are language files for rom available directly on official miui sites.
Try here http://miui-france.org/

I tell you in an other manner :
I know you've already worked on MIUI ROM for other phones, are you interested in working on MIUI ROM for ThL W8 ?
Well, as I've already said in gm2 thread. I'm not a fan of miui. I prefer vanilla Android. I'd rather dedicate my free time to further development of GravityBox instead which I find far more interesting than porting ROMs. Miui for Zte skate was just a play for couple of days and basically it was the very old one running gingerbread. Since ICS, I've been mainly building ROMs from source (ics paranoidandroid, aospa, rootbox, slimbean which I managed to get working on armv6 CPU). Since building from source is currently not possible on mtk6589, I'll at least continue bringing in new features via xposed framework. Targeting more mtk6589 devices, not just w8, makes more sense to me.
I understand.
and once more : thank you for all your work

Hey. I guess you can unpack "rom.zip" and replace with new boot.img. Rebuild the zip with winrar, for example, and reflash flash it.
It's just a trick, didn't test because I'm away from home.

Caution: I have not tested boot restore from backup on this ROM. It should work. I was using an old version of my ROM and the phone restarted without issues without boot.img flashed.

How did I port this ROM
I took clues from MTK Firmware Adopter tool. The project file for MTK 6589 shows the files it will copy and replace from the stock ROM. I just copied the files which needed to be patched. In case some files are missing in your stock ROM, ignore it. It is not guaranteed to work 100%, but it is worth a try. I tried porting 3-4 ROMs with that method and all of them worked.
Another important thing. I unpacked the stock boot.img and edited init.rc . GIONEE uses their own framework to customize the OS. There are references to that framework in init.rc. I removed that. In fact, if you want to port LeWa, then you will have to replace those lines with lewa specific libraries.
The one attached in the uploaded ROM does not contain references to either lewa or gionee libraries.
Thanks to master back37 for the MTK Firmware Adapter Tool. Although I did not use the tool (linux ), it gave me the idea on how to make the ROM.

I have made a zip file which contains all the above given zip files. You just need to extract the zip file and copy paste system folder into the target ROM's folder. Let the files in the attached files overwrite those in the respective folders.
You can use the boot.img from the MIUI ROM I have updated.

Please find the code and guide: https://github.com/MiCode/patchrom
Please select jellybean42-mtk branch and read Patchrom Developer Guide.pdf
Update: Now I don't need feel the need for patchrom, since this version is working perfectly for me. I would update this ROM every month, as opposed to every Friday update issued by Xiaomi.

2. Can't mount internal SD card. Only external is mounted. In fact, it is better to say that either can be mounted, but not both

Has anyone fixed issues with audio not coming through speaker and only through 3.5mm jack? I tried replacing audio*.so files in lib. But it always leads to boot loop.
I am facing this issue with another MIUI port I am working on.

Bro,
You forgot a lot of files. But okay, I had ported here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2366362 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41966897#post4196689.
Therefore, the problems were resolved.

I'm making some changes, including build.prop lines that will benefit the user. Wait a while until I do an upload with it.

daemol hi, when you upload new miui rom for gionee e3? Can you make rom based on muiu 3.8.16?

I have not made ROM based on 3.8.16, but has been testing 3.8.9. I feel that 3.8.2 was bit more stable than 3.8.9. I will probably skip .16 and go directly to .20 this Friday.
But the plan is to make something which can be updated via OTA.

For those having problems with Play Store, XDA member @gregorecki21 has suggested me to edit the hosts file in system/etc because it has entries from the adfree application and therefore the connection is blocked. To do it, delete everything and paste this at the first line: " 127.0.0.1 localhost". (without quotes)
You can do it directly from your phone by doing the following:
1. Download Total Commander from the Play Store
2. Install it in your Device.
3. Open Total Commander and goto Root of System. (/ )
4. Open the etc folder.
5. Find the file named "hosts", and hold it for 3 seconds. Choose edit file, and choose Total Commander Text Editor if prompted.
6. Delete everything and paste this at the first line: " 127.0.0.1 localhost". Copy it exactly, dont modify anything.
7. Save the file and overwrite if needed.
Hopefully this will work. Please report if it's working.
Thanks

as your logs show you did not include framework folder in system folder or if you have /system/framwork folder it does not have
/system/framwork/oat/boot.oat or
/system/framwork/arm/boot.oat
system/framwork/arm64/boot.oat
depending on your device you may have one or more of these paths but the problem is your boot.oat is missing, please try a new extracted system folder
In my system folder are
/system/framwork/arm/boot.oat
system/framwork/arm64/boot.oat
in system/framework/oat are a arm and arm64 folder
