ICS VS GB Sound quality - HTC Sensation

Hi to all. I'm using latest update for Sensation xe (gingerbread). It's the best soft. my phone ever ran. Recently I decided to upgrade to ICS , but I'm very, very disappointed, because of speed and sound quality. I tried every single ICS in here. I can't compare the sound from GB to ICS. Simply GB wins in all aspects. Also there are only 3 roms (ICS) working for me. In all others favorites and downloaded applications can not be pressed. If I try to run application from there , just happens nothing. I'm pressing many times, but the screen is unresponsive. How I said before, only in 3 roms those features works fine. ARHD, Coredroid and Virtuous Quattro. The sound quality is still on very low level, compared to GB roms. Thanks for your attention. Sorry for my bad English, I'm still studying.

Why i feel the htc sensation at 1.5Ghz slower than the Optimus 3D at 1Ghz in all rom?

I dont know why, but cyanogen, and sense roms, still sloow and unresponsive, compared to the Optimus 3D, the optimus 3D its super fast and fluid...
Someone can tell me why?...
And better dont set the HTC Sensation at 1Ghz, still slower than at 1.5Ghz...
My old HTC HD2 stills smoother...
I think is because of the way the processors are setup. They don't seem to be optimize 100% possibly because is a new way of building phones. Two cores instead of one and that might make it harder to optimize and build drivers.
However on the latest ruu with sense 3.5 people are reporting that everything seems smoother.

Optimus 3D stills on 2.2 Froyo, and runs super fast... i mean, the sensation runs good, but isnt fluid at all, and not as fast as the O3D, and other devices. ( SGSII, O2X...etc )
And this CPU is suposed to be the best of all those CPU outhere, because its the most powerfull of adreno, and runs by default at 1.5Ghz, consuming small amount of power.
CM and MiUi both fly on the Sensation!

CM7 is really stable. Try it out. The device really flies, even underclocked.

I concur with you because I had the G2x which flew through everything, sadly it didn't work the way it is suppose to most of the time even after update and LG support is horrible, no communication with their customers whatsover, which is what made ne switch to the Sensation. Even though the Sensation is not as fluid I really much enjoy it much more than my G2x.
So I'm not sure what is it that makes this phone stutter.
I haven't tried other ROMs other than Sense but I still enjoy my phone.
Speak for yourself..not everyone's Sensation runs and functions the way your phone does. Mine flies. Try switching roms, tweak it, switch kernels whatever
Speak for urself.... my sensation flies through anything. Other than some alpha bugs in Selfkang7, this phone is amazingly fast. I've never used anything better. Buy I also haven't messed with a galaxy s2, lol
Sensation 4g Cm7/faux 1.56ghz -25UV
Except for the very rare reboot mine's great. Running arhd 3.6

Ummmm.... flashing a radio really won't help your scrolling speed and overall smoothness (unless you had a bad radio on there messing things up).
I'm starting to question your reliability and expertise on this matter of Sensation performance.

Off-topic: Nice to see another Jackson player!
lol i got both phones and before this i had s2 which i sold like an idiot
S2 is the best fastest and has better mods and roms
Sensation xe is very good and smooth with right set up
O3D iv had for few weeks now hardly any roms to download most are tooo laggy tried stock ones they running ok aslong as i dont install too many apps
I have got a Defy and a Sensation
The main problem of Sensation is that the screen is not sensitive and does not response quick enough
u just keep dragging the unlock ring around and u will understand what i mean
My best advice is to flash Android Revolution HD, the stable one. Not the ICS, but the real-deal ARHD rom. It's GPU accelerated and actually feels like it. Never lags for me, ever.

If you haven't try flashing one of the official release ruu to update your phone partition. Or look for a thread that has the firmware package.

Just a thought....

Ok guys here it goes.....
First of all i would like to say that i love my sensation (unlike many unsatisfied members of this forum)! Certainly the best phone i've had! But sometimes i wonder if HTC gave us a Ferrari with no gas! I hear from a lot of people that sense sucks, its bloated, bluh, bluh bluh and that it's the reason that the sensation isn't performing as it should! I was starting to believe that because i tried every single custom sense rom available and although performance increased significantly, it didn't act like a dual core phone with a powerful gpu! So yesterday i installed some performance scripts (on top of a custom rom and kernel ) that made my phone run a lot faster and smoother. I was very satisfied until i went to help a friend of mine with his brand new desire s! His phone is just updated to sense 3.0 (android 2.3.5) and it was a lot faster (on stock) than my dual core Sensation with custom sense 3.5 rom and sensation xe ( 1.5 ghz) kernel! You can imagine how much faster it is than stock sensation! And i ask my self: How can an inferior hardware ( by the same manufacturer !!!! ) can run the same software ( sense 3.0 ) so much faster and smoother!? I believe the problem is not Sense but the hardware Drivers! If we could find a way to change the drivers ( lets say from T Mobile SGS2 that has the same processor ) maybe the Sensation can really be Sensational ! Just my 2 cents! Cheers!

I noticed this too. My Incredible S performs a bit smoother than my sensation sometimes. Especially on the home screen/rosie area. I don't know about gaming and stuff though.

Speed of Sensation roms

I've had my sensation for a while now, with numerous tweaks on it and running a custom rom (Android Rev right now, others from time to time).
But last night i picked up my wife's Desire (not HD, original) which is also tweaked and has (I think) LeeDroid on it and was more than a little shocked to find that, if anything, its smoother and more responsive than my Sensation. Swishing thru menus, firing up apps and scrolling thru homescreens was noticably better.
Neither phone is overclocked by the way, but have v6 on them.
now I haven't tried every Sensation rom out there, but Id be amazed to find one that was significantly faster than the one's Iv tried using to date, that also still has Sense. Given the comparative specs of the sensation and desire, even allowing for the higher res screen on the sensation, I was a little bit miffed.
i just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on why there's such a difference?
I've had a Desire, Desire HD and Incredible S - all with custom ROM's, but non of them is as fast as my Sensation.

I have no idea why, but I noticed the same here. My Incredible S FLIES, the sensation... little delays, I've gotten used to it but it still bothers me. I would think it has something to do with being "dual-core" but I've really no idea why!
Are you guys running an ICS ROM?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I'm running ICS with 3.25 FW and has no delay what so ever. Apps open faster, Sense widgets, like weather is faster.

how many apps are installed on each phone? how many were running in the memory at the time of your "test"? i've had htc inspire before and wouldn't compare the two. wait for ics to roll out as well, since it should help optimize things better.

Yep, using InsertCoin. 100% sure ICS is faster than GB. I got longer delays in GB, still get them in ICS but it's not that bad. Just one in a while, here and there opening something will delay a couple seconds.
As for the other guy mentioning the apps and everything, pretty much the same. How many in the memory <- that I didn't test.
My old Samsung Galaxy S on ICS (Onecosmic port) was much more responsive and smoothy than HTC (I've tested four ICS roms), but apps are running faster on HTC. Only drawer, switching screens or doing something at the level of rom user interface are slower.
Doesn't matter I'm using ICS with or without sense. I haven't try GB.
Yeah, im running android rev 6.2.1. Ive run the v6 supercharger script and a few other bits and pieces. I mean the sensation experience is great compared to when it first popped out of the box. But it had been ages since I picked up the Desire and I was really taken aback by how smooth it was.

Official ICS - user experiences? - possible to downgrade again?

Hi guys
Sorry for asking this question, if it has already been asked. I did try searching the forums.
My girlfriend is buying the HTC Sensation on sale in 2 hours time.
I wonder if I should make her update directly to the official ICS before beginning to set everything up in GB. We live in Denmark which AFAIK should have received official ICS.
What are your experiences with the official ICS? Is it very buggy or is it better than the stock GB on Sensation?
Is it smoother or more laggy?
Does it drain more or less battery?
It seemed to me that the first official ICS had some bugs... but can I assume that most of these have been fixed in a small update which can be run afterwards?
I know that custom roms are nicer, but I believe she would like to stay on official ROM at least for the first 3-4 months.
Also, can she downgrade to the official GB version again after updating to ICS?
Any recommendations or stories about user experiences are most welcome!
Thanks in advance
BR, Martin

You can update it to ics normally. .. its so stable more smother with better ui sence u can give it a go try to see if the update relesed from setting al>>about phone>>chech for update I think it did hit ur country. .... U can downgrade to gb any time u want by flashing back the firmware and then flash the europ version go to development section read the 3rd thread the guide of sensation it will learn u how to downgrade and debrand, ,,,or brand it again
Good luck

I can definitely recommend the official ICS upgrade on the Sensation.
It has been running on my Sensation XE for about 4 weeks now, with battery life nearly doubled compared to Gingerbread. It is fast and smooth like butter on my Sensation XE.
I've not felt the need to root my handset, I really love the Sense 3.6.!
I sold my Samsung Galaxy S II before the 'official' ICS upgrade, but I already had the leaked ICS running on it well before it was made available.
I bought the Sensation XE with the knowledge that the official ICS would be available shortly.
And I don't regret that move.
As someone who used the HTC Sensation on Gingerbread for 6 months, getting ICS was like HTC giving me a quad core new phone for free. It is MUCH better with ICS. Battery life lasts at least twice as long. Performance is on par with iOS, something which I could never say with Android 2.3.
Compared to my iPad 2, it is now 90% the smoothness. Before it was hardly 45-50% as smooth.
So yeah, I would like to say good job Google! And good job HTC!
ICS has hardware acceleration, boasting better battery life and a smoother experience, I can't go back to a phone or rom that doesn't have it.
ICS is amazing, yes. Sense 3.6 is a great upgrade from 3.0 but ever since I rooted my phone and installed sense 4 I am never turning back. It's so clean and smooth I just can't go back to any 3.X Sense version ever again. You won't be sorry if you give sense 4 a go ahead.

New HTC Sensation owner. Which Rom

Hi just ordered a htc sensation anyone recommend the best roms (performance/battery life), i don't know if this is true but i heard that the XE version is just a overclocked HTC sensation so can you recommend me any Roms based on the Stock XE ICS,
Yeah, the XE "just" has an overclock to it, as well as integrated beats audio EQ.
I prefer the stock rom, because of battery life and stability. As far as i know, there is no easy root method for the sensation with ICS, so i have to wait till i get root access. I switched from an xperia x10 mini pro, where the rooting process as well als recovery installation was simpler then simple. The HTC sensation is, compared to that, quite difficult to handle.
I would recommend you to just stay on the stock rom, because of battery life and stability. Not that the ROMs are crap or something, but you have to know what fits your needs. Just look around and read carefully any root/unlock instructions
viper
try viper s rom and faux kernel 9 and enjoy your phone
If you are aiming for battery life and stability I suggest you go for a senseless ROM like HyperNonSense or Virtuous Inquisition
For battery life any sense 3.6 Rom and flash stock kernel on top.

Welcome aboard ! To be honest its all about personal choice but for speed and battery life i love to use virtous inquisition rom make sure to check stickies in dev section and do alot of reading before doing anything its really easy to mess up :/
Sent From My Sexy Sensation Running Aokp.
Its subjective, the best ROM for you might not be the Best ROM for someone else, same goes with kernels.
This is because everyone uses the phone in different ways and not all phones are made equal (eg some can overclock more than others). Therefore its pretty useless to ask which is the best ROM or which ROMs should you try because people are going to tell you what works best for them, the only way to find the best ROM for you is to try a few and see which one you like best.
As for sensation and xe. The XE actually is not overclocked, the XE just runs the qualcom CPU chip at its stock speed (1.5GHz) whereas the sensation is actually underclocked to 1.2GHz. The other hardware differences is the red LED and speaker grill instead of grey/white.
Software differences, the XE has a beats wallpaper, no dice app and 2 values changed in the code of ext.jar and widget.jar in the method of get_PyramidLE_flag, it returns a value of 0x1 (true) whereas the normal sensation returns a value of 0x0 (false).
If your woundering about beats audio, its just an EQ profile, nothing special and its not exclusive to the XE either because if you replace the ext.jar and widget.jar files on a sensation ROM with the ones from an XE ROM, HTC music app will let you have beats audio effect even on normal sensation
