Just skip the gmail setup, go into settings and define your APN settings, and then you'll be able to set up gmail as per normal.
Failing that, I hope you kept a backup, otherwise you'll need to download a suitable rom for your handset from this development forum and try to flash that instead.
Do you have root access now?

I don't have root access anymore or else i would of did a recovery.
I can't skip the gmail account setup theres no option to skip it on mytouch its as if its manditory.
I can't connect it to the computer either. Doesnt sync or anything.
Press Menu, right when it asks you to enter your Gmail username and password.
You'll see the APN / Wireless Settings button pop up on the screen.
Enter your APN settings there.
Pls help! I'm just factory reset my HTC Inspire 4G yesterday and now it missing AT&T Software Update option under Settings > About Phone menu. What i need to bring it go back? Anyone else has the same issue?
You wait. If you need any off market apps in the interim, you use the Sideload wonder machine or root.

~Information~
The following are instructions that I have come up with to unlock the "Unknown Sources" option on non rooted Android phones that do not have the option available. By unlocking this option you will now have the ability to install non "Android Market" applications such as "TeamViewer" and more
~Warning~
This was performed in a HTC Inspire 4G so results may vary for each phone
THIS PROCESS WILL RESET YOUR CONFIGURED SETTINGS TO THE DEFAULT (Display, Ringtone, Wallpaper, etc.) BUT DO NOT WORRY BECAUSE IT ISN'T PERMANENT. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS RECONFIGURE IT AND ITS WORTH IT IF YOU ARE UNLOCKING THE OPTION "Unknown Sources"
1. Go To Your "Settings"
2. Go To "Applications"
3. Go To "Manage applications"
4. Go To The "All" Tab (or any tab that will display all your apps)
5. Find The Applications "Customization Settings Provider"
6. Click On "Clear data"
7. Go Back To "All" Tab (or any tab that will display all your applications)
8. Find The Program "Settings"
9. Click On "Clear data"
Finished
If You Go Back To "Applications" You Will Now Have The Option To Enable "Unknown Sources"
If It Worked For You Please Submit "Yes" in the poll. If it didn't please submit "No" in the poll. I would also be glad if you submitted a reply to the thread to keep it alive.

He didn't say he was missing the unknown sources option. He said the AT&T Update option. I think he is just looking in the wrong place because it us not under About phone, it has it's own sub category, so maybe he just over looked it.

Thanks you for help. But i can't found this option on any category. On HTC website they said this option is under About Phone --> "Users can proactively check for this update by going to Home>Menu>Settings> AT&T Software Update> HTC Wi-Fi software update" This is link from HTC website: htc.com/us/support/inspire-att/downloads/ Are this option available on your phone? If it on other sub category, pls tell me the category name.

First of all, you said you factory reset your phone. What state was it in before you did this? Was it stock? Rooted? Running a different rom? Was there an issue you were having that inclined you to factory reset?

The phone is original, non root or make any thing change on ROM. I'm only install some game and change some settings under Setting menu. I'm do factory reset to restore these setting to Factory Setting + remove all game for install new update over OTA. After reset i can't found this option
On my stock phone the AT&T Software Update option is right above About Phone at the bottom of the main Settings menu.

I was wondering about that. It's been awhile since I had a stock phone.
On the near stock gingerbread ROM I'm running, its the first option you see *after you choose* 'about phone,' so its a sub item of it.
In the op's case, then, it should be identical to yours, unless the OTA you received changed its location for some reason.
OP, if you don't see it on the list that appears after you choose 'about phone' and its not the next item listed after 'about phone,' I honestly don't know what to tell you.
I don't understand why it would disappear from your phone. A factory reset, by function, doesn't do anything to system-wide settings menu options that I'm aware of, all it does is remove data, your personal info, apps, etc. Essentially putting it back the way it was when you first took it out of the box. Out of the box, that menu item can be found, so I don't know.
Maybe somebody else will stop in who has the answer. I'm stumped. Especially since you've never even rooted the phone -- the only "normal" way something like that could get messed with.
I'll keep my eye out for an answer for you, but hopefully you'll get it solved soon.
I had the same thing happen to me. Factory reset, then the update was gone.
I called ATT on Saturday and asked them to push the update out to me again. They agreed to do that, but I am waiting on it to update. They said it might take 2-3 days.

Now this raises the question in my mind if we all might be suffering from a little bit of misunderstanding as to what the OP's issue is.
If what you described as happening to you is in fact what is actually happening to OP, then that's an easy fix.
From what I remember, the phone still has an option to check for software updates, even if there aren't any available. But I could be wrong. It's been known to happen occasionally.

yes, Gingerbread is 2.3, but until an official ATT update comes out, you'll have to flash one like mine, but in order to to that your phone needs to be rooted, first.
The name of the ROM I use is "Inspired Ace" by user gtgx65x, in the dev section.
I don't see Chinese under my language options, but maybe you could find some way of getting it on there. I don't know, I never needed/tried to change to another language.
For your current situation, maybe try doing another factory reset, again. Sometimes doing something like that over ends up fixing the problem. May work, it may not. Just something to try.

Yes, that's the ROM I'm running. I don't know if you can add Chinese support or not, you'll have to do some research on that question.
I can't post screenshots right now, but I will tell you that I have software update on my menu, as I described previously. You won't be able to use it if you are rooted, BUT, you won't need to use it, because all of those updates are available here, instead.
Before you do anything, you need to read this guide...

You have to root first. The links for rooting are in the above-linked guide.

The rooting process itself will unlock you.
Doesn't matter what ROM you choose after. As long as you root, you'll be unlocked, and able to flash any ROM + any updates you can't get now because of your current problem.
It will be worth it. Just take your time, and STUDY the rooting instructions before you actually do it, and when you are ready, follow the instructions EXACTLY, and you won't have any problems.
It looks complicated at first, but it just takes patience and a little undivided attention while you're doing it.

Hi all,
After owning the TF700 for a few years I thought I would try installing a Custom ROM... I've used Android for years but never attempted this.
Anyway, I've copied the ASUS Unlock Tool (both the V7 and V8 versions) to my device and attempted to installed. The installer loads, shows me what changes will be made, then I tap Next and after a few seconds the text "app not installed" appears with the only option to select is "Done."
I've done a complete factory reset but still no use. Same error.
Any ideas?
Apologies if this has been asked and solved before. I did some searching but couldn't really find anything.

You have to open the app and follow the steps outlined there. Couple of confirmations that you kiss the warranty goodbye etc... THEN it will unlock it.
Did that. It goes throught the either next, next, (to scroll down) or just scroll check box. Then click install. Then shows installed. I reboot and not unlocked.

No - after installing the app you have to open it like any other app from your app drawer and RUN it.
Installing it does not unlock the device. Running it does :cyclops:
After you used it to unlock you can trash it. It's done all it can do....
Did that. Just hadn't mentioned it in this post. Installed, went into apps. Scrolled through all the crap. Checked agree and press to unlock device. Says "an unknown error occurs which may be a network connection issue please wait and try again later". Made sure unknown sources was allowed in settings and it was registered on ANUS site. Yea, that misspelling was on purpose... WTF!!!!!! Got a tablet that is slow and sucks and can't do anything with it! Wish I would have never gotten rid of my Tab 2. Gonna put this POS on ebay soon.
Has anyone managed to solve this one? I just got a TF700T from woot.com and am having a HELL of a time unlocking it.
It's on 4.2.1 - V7 just seems to time out, V8 won't install in the first place.

If you have Google's 2-step verification enabled you need to disable it or create an app specific password for the unlock app.
You could also be a victim of Google's "less secure app" feature and need to enable/disable that in your G-account.

Hah! You got me in both threads!
I did have the 2-step verification on (I couldn't figure out which bloody password it wanted!) and even with that turned off - and "less secure apps" allowed - it was still timing out.
I tried again this morning, got a message about not having a google account ONCE, I said "don't care," and it sat for a couple minutes and came back and said "Failed."
Now I'm just getting the unknown error again.
Growf.
---------- Post added at 09:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:26 AM ----------
OKAY.
Persistance pays off.
Note: This is on a clean wiped tablet, on stock 4.2.1, using V7 of the tool, and no Google account installed.
I did send a support question to Asus, and they had me send in my Wifi/Bluetooth mac addresses and build info. (There was no mucking about with "we don't support unlocking..." WHEW)
That was about an hour ago - and I've been sitting here pressing the "unlock me" button over, and over, and over, and over... just in case.
Eventually I got the "You don't have a Google account installed.. unlock anyway?" and I said yes - but it would just wait a bit and say "FAILED."
After three or four successful "unlock anyway?" clicks (out of dozens of "unlock me" clicks) it finally rebooted and unlocked.
It's possible that John_Lu at asus just got my MAC info into support and they fixed me up. I dunno.
IN any case, chalk another up for the good guys. Now, off to install Zombi!
I had the same problem installing V8.
Figuring there might be an issue with the file currently posted on the Asus support site, I went looking around for a different source/repost.
I found one here: https://github.com/hackdefendr/TF700T-ADB-Tool
-seems to be for TF700T, unlock tool v8.
Since my tablet is going to be wiped soon anyways and not connecting to any other devices, the malware risk is pretty low, so I went ahead.
The file is slightly larger, 630kb instead of 600kb; and behold, this one installed fine.
I have android v 4.4 what can i use to unlock bootloader. seems i've been trying to hard but the unlock aplication from asus site says for v 4.2 or ics 4.0. so as i assumed when i tried runing the unlock app i got the app not installed message. PLS help.

There is no official Android 4.4 for the TF700, so either your bootloader is already unlocked or you have some other version of Android.
i apologize i wasnt specific, i have an asus memo pad 7 i have desperately been trying to root and it runs kitkat 4.4. i read i could unlock bootloader to flash custom rooted rom so this is what i was attempting but i get the application njot installed when i use the tool. Is it not really compatable with my device? if not, what is my best chance at root, as i have already tried towelroot and kingo and framaroot.
You're asking in the wrong device thread.
That aside, the JB unlock tool usually works fine on later versions. That error sounds like the common "less secure apps" problem. Read the thread, google the term.

Hi I need some help. I downloaded the unlocker tool v7, ran the apk file, but it won't install....

I don't know what to do anymore ....
Go into your Google account settings on the web and allow "less secure apps". Then the apk will install
Hello guys,
My niece has a Moto G 2015 and has set a screen lock pattern she can't remember. She does not want to lose her Whatsapp messages, so does not want to wipe her phone. Is there any way around the screen lock, even using ADB?

You can use the Android Device Manager. https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
Sign in with the Google account that is being used on that device. From there select the device. You should have the option to Ring, Lock, Erase. Select Lock and it will ask you for a password. This password can now be entered on the device. Unlock, change lockscreen security and you should be back in business.

Np, the Android device manager can be handy.. I've never needed that feature, but played around with it before and it did reset my pattern lockscreen with the password (on Android 4.4.2, I assume it's still the same).
NOTICE: I found out that this method doesn't work with the refurbished or the T-Mobile warranty exchange version. If you do Step 6, it would show the start up screen after 5 seconds being on the bootloader. If anyone has a fix for it, let me know!
Before you start, if you have access to the phone, be sure to:
• Remove your Google account
• Take off your lock screen password/PIN/pattern
• Uncheck “Protect Your Phone” from Settings > Security
• Deactivate all device administrators from Settings > Security (Optional; Just to be safe)
The reason you want to do this before you restore is that the factory image procedure wipes all data from your phone and it may trigger a “Verify Your Device” screen after flashing. You may have an error accessing your phone because the password of your Google account is incorrect, even though it is/isn’t correct. It’s very hard to recover from it because the “Verify Your Device” module isn’t really complete when it was implemented on this phone and it’s an Android 4.4.x device. There shouldn’t be a reason why it should be there since this module should exists on Android 5.1+. If you don’t have access to the phone to change/disable these settings, I recommend not proceeding if you want a bricked phone due that module error. If you still want to do it and you know FOR SURE that you have no password on lock screen and/or a Google account, then sure, by all means.
If you still don’t understand what I wrote above, read this forum or research on Android Device Protection.
UPDATE: PaKii94 found a way to bypass Android Device Protection. Be sure to read posts 21 & 23 for more information and thank him for that!

2. Extract the files and then open \tool\EngineeringSoftwareDownload_S.exe. Also, the USB drivers are also in the tool directory.

4. After you log in, you should see a flashing dialog. Now let’s prepare to flash!
5. Hold the volume up and down keys while plugging in the USB port. You should see that your phone is installing drivers. If you see a dialog asking for the destination of the drivers, copy the destination and paste it. (Make sure you see the notification LED lights and not see the charging screen/boot screen. If you do see it, take off the battery and do Step 6 again.)
6. After installation is complete, click the row where the COM port is new and click ‘Upgrade’.
7. It should show up a COM port and it will do its flashing. (If you have an error message, take off the battery and repeat Step 6.)
8. After flashing is finished, take off the USB from the phone and it should restart automatically. If a restart doesn’t take effect, just turn on the phone.

Was the battery charged?
If it was, try repeating Step 6 and try every USB port until it becomes successful. It may take a couple of times for it to flash.

Hi everyone!
Great post!
I was looking for custom ROMs for Astro Pop but I cant find anything.
This phone has a good hardware but the stock android version maybe isnt the best for it.
Does anyone know if it's possible to flash it a CM or other compatible room?
Thanks for all.
Bye.
The Username is reading as incorrect. Is there an updated one that can be used? Has anyone figured out another way to restore this device from a soft brick state?

Unfortunately, no. There isn't a way to flash it at the moment and there isn't any custom ROMs developed for this phone

I tried it on the A3CUMC1 firmware on Xposed 2.6.1.
This shows up this on Framework:
There seems to be a known issue ("Aliyun OS") with your ROM. Installing Xposed might not work or lead to severe problems. Click here for details about this issue.

I installed it anyways and there isn't any problems with it. No bootloops and module runtime errors. You should be good.
Link Seems to be broken...
