This will come off as a total noob question, but how do you set a specific wallpaper?
I mean instead of a vertical rectangle crop box, I am getting a square crop box. On Gingerbread, I used to get the vertical rectangle crop box but sometime after, I keep getting the square crop box. At first I thought it was ADW Launcher's fault that keeps giving me the square crop box, uninstalled it and still didnt return to the vertical crop box..

Hi,
That is just the way it is after GB.
if you have problem in crop then download set wallpaper app.there is an option for that

Thanks for both your time for the replies.
Although the set wallpaper app did not allow me to set my wallpaper vertically, the search led me to the app Wallpaper Wizardrii and that worked.

So, I'm not very happy with the wallpaper options in this phone. I understand that, it's more of HTC Sense setting, but it doesn't let me choose home or lock screen. Plus, when I choose a picture from my gallery to use as a wallpaper, the weird crop square shows up and doesn't let me use the whole picture. What's up with that? Am I missing something? What do other people think?
The wall paper is ok but, I went to the market and downloaded city at night wallpaper and its a lot better for my tastes.

You should use 960x800 sized wallpapers. You can't select the whole picture because your iPhone wallpapers or whatever are the wrong aspect. There are some good downloadable wallpapers in the HTC Hub and there are a million wallpaper apps in the market.
Your wallpaper is scrolling as you swipe left and right to different screens, that's why it's square. I just use 1920X1080 wallpapers and they look fine.
I've only had my Inspire for a little over a week. One thing that was driving me nuts is that no matter how I resized my pics, they were always stretched and distorted after I cropped and set them as wallpaper. This "Wallpaper Maker" app by Qiang Liuapp made it easy. You can enlarge or shrink the image inside the crop box to make it as large or small as you want it to appear on your home screen.

I use an app called Wallpaper Wizardrii. They all pretty much do the same thing
i'm trying to set a single screen wallpaper on my XE, the size of the pic at the moment is 540x960. but when i try to set the wallpaper it only allows me to get half of the pic, what size should the wallpaper be so when i select it i can choose the whole pic and not half. any good wallpaper apps would also be appreciated. thanks...........................sudeki300
It should be about 1080x960 to get the full wallpaper in there.
You can use the GIMP and it's Resize Canvas tool to make white space on the sides of the image to convert the image to 1080x960. If you post the wallpaper or link it, I can do it for you.
Image 2 Wallpaper is on the market and can do it for you, as well.
here is the pic i'm trying to use, is that the correct size for setting the wallpaper using the screen size thingy that is used before setting a wallpaper in sense, sorry i don't know the correct name for the app. thanks buddy...................sudeki300

works ok in sense launcher (little blurred on the text) but when i try to set the pic in nova or apex launcher i get half the screen with the image and the other half in black. how can i fix this?..............sudeki300
edit: it's ok i sorted it, forgot to turn off wallpaper scrolling (duh). thanks so much for your quick help, that's why i love XDA forum........................sudeki300
Set Nova and Apex Launcher to not scroll the wallpaper and make sure its cropped right down the center (that resizable rectangle screen) and it should work fine. This wallpaper will not work in landscape mode (apex or nova's auto-rotate feature) cause it'll leave black bars along the side.
Text shouldn't look blurry because I shrunk it from its original size, if anything, it should look crisper. I'm away from my PC right now but I can assist you further later.

flip up with finger from bottom while in lock screen and u can pause it ..

No, I mean the wallpaper not lockscreen.. If you set the wallpaper with random pics taken from the native folder (folder with green leaf and sea wave, sax, desert...) the pic on wallpaper become cropped and zoomed grainy, in short, bad!

You know when you choosing wallpaper for home screen it will give you option fixable or scrollable .. and if u choose scrollable u can adjust your picture..
Try play with that..

Hi. I have the same issue. It's from the EMUI firmware and unfortunately you can't fix it. We should send them a message to fix this problem.
But until then I found an solution. I tried many wallpaper changing apps and all beside one, have the same problem because of the settings from the EMUI - shows crop & zoomed images.
So the only app that I found and it's working corectly is SB Wallpaper Changer

It has a lot of cool settings that you can play with. Try it to see if it's working for you also.

Open the relevant photo using the 'gallery ' app.
Press the 'overflow' button (3 dots in top right hand corner), one of the actions presented is to set as wallpaper.
Once set as wallpaper, if you go back into Samsung Theme you'll see it as your wallpaper.
Alternatively you can set it from within the Samsung Theme app itself. When you open the app, there's a link to the gallery app that allows you to choose an image to set as wallpaper. Hope that helps.
