I am S-Off, and rooted
I had this problem with the ICS which I flashed after S-Off, so I rooted and flashed eleganza, SAME PROBLEM?!
Here's what happens-
WiFi connects with Router and shows correct strength, connects and downloads or surfs web or whatever then just stops dead! The device obviously thinks its connected to Wifi as it doesnt let the mobile signal kick in. If I disable WiFi it then connects to mobile network. If I reconnect to Wifi it works for a bit then disconnects as before.
This is driving me insane! any suggestions?
Tried changing Router channel and security encryption.
i never had the same problem, but the most common solution when wifi is not working on ICS is that you should do a complete wipe, dalvik and cache and format all partitions except SD-card.
that usualy helps, let me know if it worked for you...
Did a superwipe before I Flashed the custom Rom, which should have done all that I think, cheers for the reply
Do you have installed custom kernel, I seem have bit problem with my signal when using faux123 beta kernel. So my suggestion is try install and using other's kernel like the final version faux123, sebastianFM or stock kernel. If you using cpu control application try not to set the lowest to low.
On the Advanced Wi-Fi try to set "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to Always.
If you have set "wifi.supplicant_scan_interval" on build.prop try to decreased it.
I am using sebastianFM , "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep"is already set to Always
Now tried new rom and new kernel and have now supercid. Any ideas?
Search for WiFix in this forum, it's an app, it might help ?

I had a similar problem with all the Elegancia versions that I tried (3.4.1 and 3.5.0).
It recognised my neighbours' routers by not mine, I did not have wifi signal at all.
No problem with any other ICS rom such as ARHD, InsertCoin and CoreDroid.
My router is the O2 Wireless Box (which is actually Thomson ST780). If yours is the same there might be compatibility issues between Elegancia and this specific router.
I had a similar problem with ARHD few months ago... Did a superwipe, flashed the same rom again, flashed radio other than was used in a rom and didn't do any backup restore... I think some wifi application messed with crucial wifi settings but I flashed other radio because I wanted to find solution faster... So don't know exactly what helped..
I've always had this issue with ARHD since ICS leaked. I could always get connected to other WiFi connections, but not my own at home which uses WPA2. The phone does actually show full WiFi signal and thinks it's connected, but can't really get out to the internet.
I could get it to work by either a) flashing another ROM that worked for me like InsertCoin then flashing ARHD directly over it without a wipe, or b) just wiping and going with InsertCoin from the beginning haha.
I used mostly IC anyway during Gingerbread times, so it wasn't a big deal for me to stick with IC for ICS. But I still wonder what causes this issue. I read in the ARHD thread that there are WiFi-related files that can be replaced to make things work, but I figured that would eventually get annoying for me since I flash often.
I found the same problem with two different Android phones after rooting.
Connects, works for a short while then no traffic gets through. Disconnect, then reconnect usually works for a few seconds more?
My solution was to reconfigure the router...it had maximum speed settings that allows 75, 150, 300. When I set it down to 75 it started working reliably.
Same as above...I was using WPA2 and it only affected my home router.
Not sure if same issue, but worth a try!

hey folks, i got massive wifi connectivity problems, but only with a special wifi at college.
it's a 802.1x wifi, with EAP (PEAP) and MSCHAPV2.
i configured it correctly (for sure), as i can connect to it manually. but it is not stable, though i got full signal strength. it keeps on dropping after a few minutes with the phone sleeping... when i turn it back on i have to reconnect manually, sometimes i have to deactivate/activate wifi, sometimes it is enough just to connect manually again.
i tried some roms and kernels already, with no effect (arhd 3.1.1, insertcoin from 2.2.1 up to 2.4.3-2 and 2.2.5SSE; kernels were faux 0.1.0 - 0.1.4, bricked 0.2 - 0.4). also stock rom doesn't fix the problem.
i think it's htc based.. somebody else got this problem? is there a workaround availible?
Nobody? Bump...

Hi,
I think it's HTC based too... I've seen this problem with my HD2 and now the Sensation (definitely hoped it was only an HD2 problem but here I am again, looking for a solution).
The symptoms are that you see the wifi connected with, say, full signal, but when you try to open Google Talk or the browser or anything, no data can be reached. This happens particularly when you switch from one AP to another (e.g. walk across compass) or if you leave the network area and then come back.
Do we have similar ones? My school has a registered-MAC network that also doesn't work well with the phone, so I believe it's more to do with how the network infrastructure is set up. However, my friends with non-HTC devices do not report such problems. It's also possible that my similar program installs on both phones do some conflicting with networking, but it's doubtful...
Does anyone have similar experiences?
Edit: It'd almost be preferable for my phone to just drop wifi entirely when the connection fails, since it believes it otherwise has a connection, but everything time-out-s. Having it switch to 3g when it stops working would be preferable to having no networking and no push email or messages...
You can try going into wifi advanced settings and setting the wifi sleep policy to "never", and see if it that fixes it. My high school uses the same 802.1x EAP/MSCHAPv2 security and I also have issues with it, but I think there it's because of such a dense network of access points (there's an access point in EVERY room) it's more interference problems and the phone jumping from AP to AP rather than issues with the phone itself. Download wifi analyzer from the market and check the different access points and if their channels are overlapping and compare their signal levels. If the signal levels are close, the phone might be jumping from AP to AP like mine does.
Dropping WiFi
May not apply to you. But in my case, when I have the WiFi Calling App turned on, I will lose connection to my Home WiFi which is password protected. And when I try to re-connect I have to enter the password again. With out WiFi Calling enabled, I stay connected till I disconnect. Not sure if this would act the same with a different router or without password protection, and since I have a good signal at my house I haven't checked all possibilities.

Thanks for your reply!
I've never set wifi sleep policy to anything but "never," and I've toggled between "Best Wifi Performance" and the alternative of having that disabled.
I've hit in *#*#4636*#*# and looked at the wifi state. It continues to say it's connected with COMPLETED Supplicant State and a valid IP address. Ping test, of course, fails, when this happens.
This happens for me both with mac-registered (insecure) networks and 802.1x networks on campus, but I've found that wifi is rock stable on most home networks, for example...

It might just have to do with the access point interference. I know that my phone has trouble handling the access point switching, regardless of the phone or ROM. My old 3g slide did the same thing. If it only happens on 802.1x networks and it happens on every ROM (which I'm 90% sure it does) then it's probably not something you can change.

I understand that, but the part that gets me is that my roommate's Galaxy S has no such problems.
I've tried many different ROMs when I was on the HD2; I'm hoping I won't have to go through that again!
Oh, then maybe it is a phone issue. I always thought it was just android but I've always used HTC devices. I don't know exactly how 802.1x encryption works, but if it's on a hardware level like some encryption algorithms then it could be HTC specific.
It's definitely a HTC problem. Friend of mine doesn't have such problems as well, he has a SGS2. Everything is configured like it should be, WiFi drop on "never", as already witten in the first post.

i'm trying to get it fixed by posting some logs to show-p1984, kernel developer of bricked. he is also german, which makes it easier to talk about this kind of 'special' problem for me i will keep this thread updated if there is any solution availible.

That sounds great! Let me know if I can contribute as well (logs? something else?).
I was worried it has something to do with the custom kernels we're all using (i.e. power modes for the wifi and such, but I did edit an HD2 kernel to turn that off and it didn't work). Since show-p1984 is thinking about this now, I'm sure he knows what's up with everything kernel=related to wifi...
When I have time, I'll definitely try a stock ROM again to see how it goes, since there aren't as many complaints about this problem as I'd expect there to be (i.e. ... maybe only us custom ROM users may have this problem with certain wifi infrastructures)...
Hello!
Not sure if anybody's still interested in this problem, but I tried the EU stock rom and it didn't change matters.
Basically, moving around campus makes my phone drop the internet connection on wifi, but not the wifi connection itself. Again, this doesn't happen on Samsung phones, and cycling the wifi fixes this problem.
See attachments for what shows up; it looks like after cycling I get a new lease and it works again.
So do people think the latest bricked kernel fixes this issue?
Unfortunately it doesn't. But at least we have a kernel dev who is aware of this problem. I got no doubt that it'll be fixed one day ;-)

Still no change... As it's a driver of the wifi module, maybe it'll never be fixed at all. Anyways I hope, that maybe with the ICS update a change will come. Also there is show, who is aware of it.

Unfortunately - no
I'm running InsertCoin 4.4.6 based on 3.25.xxx leak with ICS. It's still not working... Maybe with the final release from HTC.
For a month or so I've been having wifi problems with my phone.
It's one you often see discussed:
either A)
wifi scans, picks up presence of network [with excellent signal strength] then, on click, doesn't try to connect just changes to say out of range.
Alternatively B), it simply doesn't see the network at all despite me being 2 feet from the router.
This happens with my home router [we have two, neither work] and with what seems like every other router too.
I am currently running the 6.1.1 version of ARHD [with android 4.0.3].
I can provide any information that might help, I'm not at all bad with this sort of stuff normally, although not collosally experienced with android.
Thank you for your time.
PS. Steps already tried to fix problem:
Power cycling router, installing different ROMs,scripted wifi fix for 6.1.1, changing wifi channels, switching router to just b and/or g, wifi fixer app, removing authentication, using different router, changed radio, changed kernel, and possibly more.
Please any advice would be fantastic, I struggle to use this phone without wifi.
Try the wifi with your sim in a differnet phone - when that works choose a different rom make sure you go back to a stock RUU before the new rom
I've never been able to connect to a wifi network on my sensation. I've tried it with the stock 2.3.4 ROM, and with all of the ARHD ROMS.
I can see wifi networks, and enter the network password, but it'll never connect.
So I'd be interested in any solution for this problem also.
Have you tried on different routers? I can only assume the routers channel is set to one that the device won't work on? Have you changed your router settings before
Sorry my bad only read half,

OK what is your devices mac address showing up as? Maybe it's the same as another device on your network?
Have you done a full wipe of your device?
Does your bluetooth work? (same antenna as wifi)
Has it ever worked?
Have you tried disabling all your routers security?

I'm running Hellfire 2.1 and I have a strange issue. The wifi randomly won't disconnect after going way out of range for a long time(like I drive away from house and check phone 30 min later). Accessing the net results in connection timeouts etc, but wifi still says "Connected to XXX". The only way to fix is to manually disable wifi and reenable.
I tried both faux and trinity kernesl. Same thing. Tried fix permissions/clean re-flash with all the wipes, same thing.
Any advice? Thanks.

1.Flashed latest CWM via NVFlash
2. Ran Nullifier dual wipe
3. Installed Hellfire 2.1 Rom via CWM
4. Installed GApps as provided in the HF 2.1 post
5. Rebooted, didn't touch anything for 10 min
6. Set up Google account, set various settings etc
7. Rebooted again. Waited another 5 min
First noticed the problem soon after I started using the new rom. A day later, I flashed 0.48CM faux kernel. Same thing happened once. Flashed to Trinity ELP, experienced a couple of application crashes, flashed again to Trinity T15. (didn't encounter the problem during the very short period of ELP). Did a couple of intentional tests on T15, wifi disconnected OK. But one day later, the issue randomly came back.

I believe it's just a known G2X bug.
Happens to me on EVERY ROM. Custom kernel or stock. Minor inconvenience in my opinion.
I've had the same issue from time to time on stock ROM as well as various builds of cm7 with stock kernel and with morfic's ELP kernel. Doesn't happen too frequently though so I just toggle the wifi when I have to. I reboot the phone a few times a week and I get the problem less now than I used to.
It only happened to me when I used public networks, like at university for example. I think the phone tries to connect the network with a very weak signal and as you walk it receives signal or not depending on where you are. Powering off the wifi fixes the problem
Thanks to all the replies. Glad to know it's not a software issue and I'm not alone.
Hi,
I have problem with my data connectivity on my Sensation for a long time. If I turn on my phone and mobile data (mostly I choose "UMTS only" mode), I have internet connection without any problems, but after some time (usually few days, but if I'm driving and using phone as my navigation it can be hours) phone can't connect to internet, but 3G icon is still there. If I reboot the phone everything comes back to normal. Turning off and on radio/mobile data and switching between 2G and 3G doesn't work, only reboot works.

Nope, ARHD 7.2, stock kernel, 11.76A... radio
Hi all,
I don't have the same problem as you but I couldn't find another thread with a similar theme.
When I turn on my mobile internet (O2 UK) it takes a few minutes to turn on, then stays on for about 1 second then off again for about 30 seconds This just keeps repeating and never stays constantly on.
I have no idea what happened or what I've changed.
This has been happening for a couple of months now. It used to work fine all the time everywhere.
I've tried changing the radio and RIL files (they are currently matching according to GetRIL app).
I'm using Viper 1.6.3 with Firmware 3.33, RIL 4.0.0037HMQ(2), Radio 11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A3504.31_M
I've tried different kernels too. Currently using Pacha kernel (not PYD-X)
I have included a logcat if anyone can help me.
Many Thanks In advance.

Hello OP,
Don't worry, you're not going crazy. I have (had) the same problem with ARHD 6.7 and 6.8
When I first started using ARHD 6.6x - I NEVER had this issue, only when I moved to ARHD 6.7 I noticed the same strange issue you have. I couldn't find anything in the forums at the time with similar reports. The only thing that would fix the "no throughput" issue on UMTS was to powercycle or a full reboot or a "hot reboot" when using the advanced power menu - the hot reboot would just reboot the shell - but that was enough to fix the "problem". I even manually upgraded faux123 kernels to the rule out a kernel issue triggering the problem.
I then upgraded to 6.8 when it came out in the hope that would fix but not luck.
So far I am running ARHD 7.2 and not yet (touch wood) seen the issue. However I have taken the chance to do a very clean install and use Titanium Backup to only restore what I really needed, like call logs, SMS/MMS and for most of everything re-entered settings manually.
We shall see how it goes....

That won't help. I also had tried rolling back to different RADIOs and none helped. So it's not a RADIO img issue or a kernel issue. It's something else.
Hello there. First, let me say that I've researched this issue to no end. Searching here, Google, etc... Utilizing all sorts of keyword combinations. I don't think this is something simple/stupid but if it is, I apologize in advance.
I was running a few versions of Team Venom ViperXL up to and including 3.2.6. I seemed to start having this issue with the Viper ROM. (FYI, I do a full wipe on all ROM installs.) Since, I've migrated to CleanROM 6 R2 once it was based on the 3.1.8. I was partially hoping it would fix the issue I'm having, but alas it only slightly changed the issue (for the better).
What is happening:
- WiFi ON, everything working perfectly.
- If I wander out of range (1 mile away, etc) the signal strength of WiFi drops to 1 bar/bubble and never properly disconnects from my network. This also makes the phone refuse to transmit over the AT&T network until I manually turn off WiFi. Turning off WiFi on ViperXL caused the "WiFi" setting line to grey-out and hang on "Turning off" requiring a reboot after which everything works until I again go out of range. On CleanROM, the "turning off" succeeds without hanging, but will not reconnect properly until I either drop into Airplane Mode and back out or reboot the phone.
- (On CleanROM) Turning WiFi back ON will cause it to say "Not in Range" for the home WiFi network even though I'm clearly in-range. Again, the fix for this is either Airplane Mode or a reboot.
If I manually shut off WiFi before leaving the area of my home WiFi network, it will reconnect on manually turning back on without issue. It seems to only lock up when it has to disconnect due to being out of range.
I've also tried installing the Venom WiFi fix patch on both ViperXL and CleanROM, forgetting and re-adding the network, deleting the WiFi config files manually, etc. I'm wondering if this isn't something specific with my router, as it only seems to happen on my home WiFi network. I'm currently running an Asus RT-AC66U. My issue is that I swapped to this router AND changed ROMs right around the same time (hence my confusion on if it's a phone or router issue).
I did find a suggestion of changing the beacon interval of the Asus router, which I will try this evening.
I have seen other reports of portions of the issue I'm having, but not all together like this. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try?
EDIT: I've also tried various WiFi fix apps from the App Store. They usually correct the issue for the time being, only to have it happen again upon leaving the area of WiFi coverage.
Also, I'm running Bulletproof Kernel v1.1 with S-OFF. I just saw that Bulletproof v1.3 has a WiFi fix. I'll be installing that shortly.
If you want to narrow down if it's the phone or the router, the first thing I would do is make a nandroid backup and then RUU. If it's still happening, it's most likely the router or a hardware problem with the phone.
If it's not still happening then you can try that stuff and I would try flashing different radio's too. Out of curiosity what hboot are you on?

yeah I'd check to see if it's still happening after returning the phone to stock via RUU as a first step. This will be the best way to narrow things down.
