Sebastian Kernel v1.30.2 Underclocked to 1.242Mhz by Socali
This is Sebastian Kernel v1.30.2 hexedited by me to underclock it to 1.242Mhz
Also included is a safer or
conservative thermald.conf file.
I created this because I wanted Sebastian's MultiTouch fix, ZRAM support, etc. but at the same time I prefer a stable and cool CPU that doesn't drain the battery as quickly.
I hexedited it instead of recompiling so that I stay as close as possible to Sebastian's build.
Those who had random phone reboots on 1.5+Mhz kernel are encouraged to give this kernel a try. Hopefully it'll help.
Note: This kernel will give you lower benchmark scores (about 5700-5800 AnTuTu score on my phone). This is not a bug, it's a feature..
Download flashable: kernel-v1302-1.242mhz-socali.zip
md5sum: 6e325a9828428bc5a2400048dbc1bc66
This is the result of hours of effort researching, fixing and testing. You're welcome!

[Q] Zram on HD Revolution HTC Sensation

Hello all,
As you can see I am new to the XDA forums! About a week ago I flashed my HTC Sensation (brand new), using Mike1986's HD Revolution ROM. I did this after doing 30 minutes of research as an absolute noob, but thankfully, everything has gone well. Anyhow...
I have searched for threads on this, but unfortunately none of them answer this question directly, and specifically to Smartphones.
So I will ask this very simple question:
What is all this fuss about Zram? Is it good?
I ask, because I just flashed to the updated 3.6.2 ROM, and it is brilliantly fast. I've enabled Zram, as I can see it is working in my Terminal Emulator. But i'm not sure what the difference is!
Many thanks!
It's a way to compress rom, which means you have more ram available

Hi,
According to FAUX:
ZRAM (aka CompCache aka RAMZSwap)
ZRAM is an updated version formally known as CompCache and RAMZSwap. It was originally designed for 2.6.38.xx kernels, I have backported to our 2.6.35.xx kernel. ZRAM allows real-time compression of memory objects in RAM thus reducing memory pressure for the Linux kernel and can keep more apps in memory longer (more apps in RAM == better performance, less fetching from slower MMC or SDCard). Compression, however, is not Free. Some CPU cycles are required to do the compress/decompression, so there's a slight penalty for it. The original CompCache / RAMZSwap required a user space binary to control its behavior which adds additional penalty to performance, but the new version ZRAM eliminated the need for a separate dedicated daemon, thus reducing the overhead and increased performance from the old CompCache by 20%. Therefore, with the newer implementation of ZRAM interface, the performance penalty is almost negligible.
Hope that helps.
You legend. Thanks bro

Hi,
I am running mike1986 ARHD 3.6.2 ROM and using FAUX123 0.2.1 kernel.
A combination of the 2 devs has produced this ROM.
You can get to these through my sig.
I'm not sure, but you might be able to run faux's kernel, and his zram enabler.
Read the threads.

If you're running a ROM based on 2.3.4 you can run Faux's kernel.
If you want to run a 2.3.5 based ROM, it has to be AHRD as Mike has hacked libs and ramdisk to allow Faux 2.1 to run with 4.1.x versions.

There is some code required to enable zram -- it is explained in Faux's thread, or you can flash his zram activate zip, also in the thread.

[Kernel List] HTC Doubleshot Kernels. February 21, 2012.

Kernels for the HTC Doubleshot. I'll update, and make it look more nice later. I put some time into this, so hopefully it's used. If there's any Kernels I'm missing, or info that's wroung let me know. Now I give you the First
::HTC Doubleshot Kernel List::
Basic Terms:
Undervolt (UV): An Undervolted Kernel is a Kernel that's supossed to bring in Battery savings. The higher the Undervolt, the better the battery savings. But this isn't with out drawbacks. Some CPU's can't handle higher Undervolts. So you'll have to figure out if your CPU can handle it. This can be done by starting at the highest UV, then see if it causes issues. If so, drop to the next UV (8%, 5%, 2%). If no issues (Like Reboots, Blackouts, etc.) Enjoy the UV.
Overclock (OC): This is simple, it's just making yours phones CPU go faster than it comes stock. Our device has a Qualcomm® 8260 dual core Snapdragon™, 1.5Ghz (But shipped at 1182Mhz). So an OC would be anything higher than a 1.2Ghz (Really 1.5Ghz). With an Adreno 220 GPU.
GPU: A graphics processing unit or GPU (also occasionally called visual processing unit or VPU) is a specialized electronic circuit designed to rapidly manipulate and alter memory in such a way so as to accelerate the building of images in a frame buffer intended for output to a display.
For the less geeky, it controlls anything based with graphics.
Icecream Sandwhich (ICS) : Android 4.0.X
Stock Speed 1.2Ghz UV 0%
OC 1.5Ghz/Slightly UV 2%
OC 1.5Ghz/Middle UV 5%
OC 1.5Ghz/Extremely UV 8%
These Kernels are made by tbalden. There to only be used with ICS Roms. There are both OC, and UV Kernels.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505394
[ROM][Feb 19 2012] Pyr'o'Ice ICS Desensed 1.1.0 - Android 4.0.3, AOSPish, 1.5GHz OC
The Kernels are the 3rd post down, and updated when need be.
Gingerbread (GB) : Android 2.3.X
Note: Anybody using any newer Radios, or HBoots. Any kernel that isn't Stock might cause issues. Most GB Kernels where made for the Stock Hboot, and Radio.
How to flash these: Reboot into Recovery. Wipe Cache, Dalvik Cache, and Mount System. Then Flash Kernel. Wait 10 Minutes (For best results) Then do a regular reboot.
Stock Kernel
This is the Kernel that comes on the Stock Rom. No OC, no added parts. Just how HTC sent it. Use this if you want a super stable Kernel. Or flash a bad Kernel, and can't boot.
Thanks to Undead for making this flashable Zip. (Enjoy your GSII Undead)
http://www.4shared.com/file/ect_yUtz/Stock_Kernel_Undeadk9.html
Romanbb's Kanged Kernel v.0.1
OC to 1.512 GHz
[*]UV across the board
[*]Upgraded to .14 from .10
[*]compiled with Snapdragon optimizations
Theres two of these Kernels. They're both very unstable, and cause a lot of random reboots. They're for use for any Rom based of the Stock Rom.

Stock Kernel with CIFS.ko, Tun.ko, NLS_UTF8.ko.
By Nusferatu
Just a stock kernel with CIFS.ko , TUN.ko , NLS_UTF8.ko built in
Works fine for me except for 1 bug (it's related to cifs i suppose) :
- on samba server rights for folder\files must be 777 or cifs won't allow to execute\view any.

Unity Kernel va1 for Doubleshot.
By the Unity Team
- 2.6.35.14
- 2WCR ( 2-Way Call Records)
- NOOP I/O Sheduler
- SLQB
- OC 1782Mhz (1.8Ghz)
Default Speed 1512Mhz (1.5Ghz)
-JHash3
-Flash disabled @ 10% Battery & 5 Degrees Temp.
-Lower Wi-Fi Voltage
-Wi-Fi PM_Fast in Standby
-Tweaked Governors
-VDD SySFS Interface
-Fixed Scaling Cor_Freq
-GPU OC up to 320Mhz
-X2 Kernel Compression
-Cifs/Tun/UTF8
This is the only Kernel made by a Dev Team.
Heres the Website http://www.virtuousrom.com/
This Kernel is "Stable" any clock speeds above 1080Mhz causes issues, reboots, etc. But IMO this is the best Kernel for any GB Rom. This can be used with MIUI, any Sense 3.0, and Stock Based Rom.
The Download Link for this Rom is Broken, so I'll upload it later tonight.
I'll Upload any Kernel, to any File share site on Request.

Correction - the maximum processor clock speed as recommended by the manufacturer is 1.5 - HTC nerfed it down to 1.2, so saying it's a 1.2 processor is not accurate.
The GPU is the Adreno 220.
I'll toss more tech specs in later.

SebastianFM or Faux123 kernal?!

Well I'm a little confused with these kernels, I have tried using both kernels with ARHD and the only one that seems to work correctly is the SebastianFM. The fuax123 kernel just keeps my phones CPU cores both at 1.51ghz, without any intelidemand governors, also, regarding RAM management, which one is the best between the two?
If anyone understands why the fuax123 kernel is acting weird, please clarify cause I'm stumpted,
Thanks a lot!
They are both great kernels I used bricked kernel myself but used to use Sebastian kernel for a long time just try them both for a week see what you like the best
Sent from my Xoom tablet using Tapatalk
faux shouldn't be forcing both cores online, especially with his newer intellidemand tweaks. You can read his explanation on his thread. Which version of faux are you using? There was also a problem reported by some ARHD users that faux came with ondemand by default when they flashed the ROM. Reflashing the kernel should correct that.
I've used both kernels and both are fine for me, although different phones seem to prefer different kernels. It also depends on your usage pattern. As mike1986. himself says, if you're happy with your kernel, then don't change it.

You can download the kernel from faux thread...and can flash it just like flashing Rom/any mod.....flashing kernel via Rom will give you the same results again....
Also if you just want to change the govener you can install system tuner to change it to intellidemand governer and apply the changes in system tuner to keep it for every reboot

I'll reinstall that kernal,
I don't want to install system tuner and need to have it always running in the background for the cpu to be in intellidemand, that's why I want the kernel to do it automatically,
but ill try and flash the kernal again,
thank you!

I tryed each kernel, and i had a problem with the first flashing of each one, dunno why!
i had to reflash always twice time, and at the second time everything were good.
i'm now holding Faux kernel, i think is awsome, let have a look at my attachments to see my battery usage with intellidemand..
bricked one is good too, as all the other users told u...TRY'EM ALL!

Best for sense 3.6 is Faux kernel
Well I've now tried Faux123 for a few days and my battery life has been drained, right now, at day 3 of having faux, I'm at 46% battery with 9 hours and 33 minutes of usage, though with SebastianFM I got like one and a half days, solid, If I was bothered I'd upload a picture showing my phone lasting for 1 day and a few hours with Sebastian. Dunno why but battery life/smooth phone really contradicts itself :/
What's a bricked kernel? I've always been hearing about it but don't entirely understand what it is, sorry but I'm kind of new to this whole kernel thing

What is a Good Kernel for ViperS 1.1.0 & How to change Kernel Settings?

Been flashing Custom Roms & Kernels insanely these few days trying to get the most perfect Custom Rom and Kernel. I have decided to use ViperS 1.1.0 as my main Custom Rom, I'm now deciding which Kernel best go with it and that's it, I can finally starting doing my stuff on my phone instead of searching for Roms and Kernels everyday to flash. Lol, after rooting my phone, I haven't like used it yet at all, all I did was looking for Custom Roms and Kernels to flash to find which best for me.....
Well anyway, can a ViperS 1.1.0 user please tell me which Kernel is good? I'm looking for a Kernel that has good battery life and a bit good performance. I have tried many Kernels but can't notice the difference between them.
Also how would I change the Kernel's settings? Like if I want to change the Governor, how would I change it?
Thanks in advanced! I'm kinda new to Kernels.

As some people already said, Sebastian`s kernel is very good. His kernel + as much Undervoltage as is stable for your phone should make a good performance with good battery life I`m plaaying Dead Trigger with Tegra effects enabled, and no lags with -75mV, but you need to find out what UV level is good and stable for you
and BTW guys, what mods are you talking about? I looked at his thread and didn`t find any mods. Do you mean that OC and ZRAM or there are any other mods?

For kernel settings such as govs and uv, you can use an app such as system tuner. It allows you to change a multitude of kernel settings, including clock speed.
sebastian fm is good kernel... +1
I am talking about all from my signature
Sebastians kernel doesnt offer any options to choose as I know.
The same with MOD Take Control - but you may change some things by System Tuner app.
There is a link to a MOD for seb's kernel in the viper thread, posted not so long ago. It allows you to change a whole bunch of stuff for his kernel such as uv and even second phase frequencies. It's a seperate zip you flash after flashing the kernel itself.

viper 1.2.1 reboots?

my viper Rom keeps keeps rebooting itself at times AMD then there's a huge battery drain , especially when I'm on on demand governor ..

can someone help me figure out the might be causing this? plus my battery's less awesome then 1.1 ,
so can someone help me figure out the problem?
and if any other person could help me with which kernel works best for you guys with viper 1.2.1 ?
I'd really appreciate help, thank you
Hi there, this is best posted on the viper development site. Everyone there is using the same Rom and perhaps more people even have your issue and know of a fix for it. So it is really best to post this on viper development where you can get Rom specific help. I use viper also and have not experienced you're issue. Have you considered doing a fresh download and full wipe and reinstallation of the Rom? This might help. But do post on viper site and hopefully someone knows of a fix if above doesn't solve the issue. Best wishes.

Yank 2.52 works well for me. I had constant reboots when I was undervolted by 100, but now that I'm not undervolted at all it doesn't reboot anymore. So it may not necessarily be kernel but kernel settings that can give you bootloop.
