how to make your own battery mods! - Motorola Atrix 2

i came across this link and it helped me! super easy and will work with the framework-res.apk of any rom!
heres the link:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/551-tutorial-customize-your-battery-mod/

is framework-res.apk needed to sign?

No need to resign framework-res.apk.
My way: double click to open with winrar, just drag new images into winrar to replace the old ones, close winrar and transfer to phone.

[Tweak] Stock Android Animations

Hey Everyone, The SK4G is known to have to have good graphics though you might have noticed that stock samsung window animations arent the smoothest, luckily I found a nice mod/tweak for that. Just Replace the "Anim" folder to your framwork-res.apk in the res folder and reboot. Enjoy!

not sure why this is in development and not themes. But you have to open your framework-res.apk (use 7zip or something similar) and delete the anim folder in /res/ . then drag this anim folder in, close it. then push the apk to system/framework on your phone and reboot

soo... where am I putting the anim file on the sd card or the /system of the phone?
pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk from your phone onto your PC
open the framework-res.apk as a zip using 7zip or winRAR
place anim folder in /res/, overwriting the anim folder that's there
place framework-res.apk back into /system/framework.

Use winrar for theming. Apkmanager is nly for .xml editing or smali editing.

if we use winrar then how to go back to .zip to .apk ...
is renaming the file from .zip to .apk works out ??
ahh don't do that way! -_-
just open the apk directly using winrar..then open the folder wer you want to change the .png images..just drag and drop the images in the winrar window and the rest will be done the winrar itself..you don't even need to extract all those files and recomplie them again!
thanks ! it's working !

mod battery apk

i flashed the embyro 4.0 rom i was wondering how to change the different battery icon.
You would have to change the battery PNGs in /system/app/SystemUI.apk as far as I know.
It's not hard to do. You can simply replace the pngs inside the apk by opening it (not extracting) with something like 7-zip after you pull it (or unzip the ROM). You need to make sure that the file names are exactly the same. You can extract a copy of the apk to modify the pngs.

modifying setting.apk and framework or any apk

HI folks i was just playing with rom tools and stuff i have found we can modify icons and layout stuff which apear on screen very easy way so here what i found just rename any apk to *.zip and open it in 7z zip or winrar and go to res and find drawablemdpi or drawablehdpi whatever in your case open it and you will find all the display icons or separators etc etc so change the icon with the one you want but remember the format, size, name should be same otherwise it will make a mess careful with it and rename it back to *.apk and sign it with any apk signer and simply replace your stock apk with your modified one and you will get the icons you want it works with farmework.apk,settings.apk,mms.apk maybe works with all other apks but did,nt tried it so try and post result

unpack or repack apk files

Simply u can unpack or repack apk files here are some easy steps:
1) install root explorer
2) Click on that file which u wanna unpack, after clicking perform the action (view ) then select all the files and extract them.
3) After editing or modifying, select that folder and compress to normal zip.
4) Go to the zip file and rename .zip to.apk
Done
Thanks for the info, but I think most here know how to unzip apk files, and this isn't the correct forum.
It should also be mentioned that this method is quick and easy, but is really only useful for replacing images. To make modifications to any xml or smali, you have to decompile the apk.

Yes, this method its only working, when you change the pictures.
The xml, smali etc. file method only working, when you use apktool app (on pc or android).
