[Q] ARP Scan a LAN from Android Phone - General Questions and Answers

Hey everyone, hope I got the right thread here.
I am looking at doing an app that will scan the LAN that I am connected to, find all hardware that starts with a specific MAC and then return the list of matching devices to me. I have been reading a lot that you natively (unrooted or modified) Android cannot perform and ARP scan of a LAN? Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, how to get around that? Its obviously possible as there are other apps such as Fing and ANTI that do it now.
Any help or insight into this would be much appreciated!
Thanks.

[Q] (HTC Ozone) Wifi sharing for mobile 6.5?

I read at somepoint that HTC may be releasing some form of a wifi sharing app for HTC smartphones. At the end of the post that I was reading, there was a cab that installed CMWifiSharing.exe to my Windows directory. However, it looked like that app was for touchphones, sine I couldn't interact with the UI in anyway.
My question is, is there any free application out there that enables wifi sharing for an HTC Ozone on Windows Mobile 6.5?
i'm not sure if any of them support non-touchscreen devices.. but you should try WMWifiRouter and ICS either way.
hope this works for you.

Already tried WMWifiRouter, worked ok, but I'd rather not pay for it if there's already a free alternative out there (or in the making). What is this ICS you speak of?
it's a simple app designed to pretty much do the same as WMWifiRouter.. but with much less options.
look for it.. it's easy to find.

Do you mean this?
I downloaded it to my phone, tried running it, and it crashed right away with an error saying "NotSupportedException at Microsoft.AGL.Common.MISC.HandleAr() ..."
I already have a newer Compact Framework than the one ICS requires. So what can I do?
Edit: Just looking at the screenshot for this program makes it seem it's for a completely different mobile operating system. Reading around on the Internet a bit, it seems like that error occurs when an application tries to create a button that isn't supported on the phone.
Got any other ideas?
unfortunately, no. I haven't used any other wifi sharing software other than these 3. If i were you, i'd try doing it thru winmo. create an AdHoc connection in your native WM environment and try connecting to it. You can probably find many threads concerning the creation and sharing of an AdHoc connection in the forum.
let me know if you managed to get it.

[Q] Dancing Pixel Studios on Mac

Help please!!!
I've been looking everywhere and can't find how to Sync my Ps3 controller with my Htc evo lte.
I know its real simple right. Well if you have a PC it sure is. I'm trying to sync mine with a Mac. I googled everywhere and no on seems to have come across this topic. Please someone help me. So far I have both apps to check compatible and the actual app. On my Mac I have the libusb file and sixpair. My terminal is setup directing me to the root of the folder that these files are in. Well saying that much I don't know whats next. How do I actually change the MAC address from my Ps3 controller to match the one of my Phones Mac address. Thanks much appreciated.

Splashtop Anywhere Access Pack FREE! sort of.

Mod Edit: content removed.
please elaborate steps 4 to 9.
You sir are brilliant lol... or more like I'm dumb I completely forgot about just using VPN with this even though it's setup already *facepalm*
I already bought splashtop, the company is full of deceptive liars. I would love to get this working on my andoid device. Has anyone actually got this to work. Are they blocking this?
Great guide. Thanks! :good:
Huh? I play FEAR, Skyrim and Anno 1404 over Splashtop THD every day in the train, never noticed anything about additional payments
Edit: Oh. Right. No, forget I said anything. I momentarily forgot where I got Splashtop from... :silly:
So I followed your tutorial and getting PPTP VPN is A PAIN IN THE ASS. Aside from that I got it working. I am having another issue that maybe you can help me out with. On my galaxy nexus, I connect to the VPN over my 4g LTE connection on my phone. Once I connect to my VPN and log into Splashtop 2, I can't reach splashtop servers. Do any of you guys have this same problem?
Am I missing something?
I am out of ideas why I can't connect to my Windows 7 vpn host from my iphone 4 running on ios6.1.2. I've doubled checked my settings and open ports, but I can't seem to get my iphone to connect to my vpn.
I can; however, connect if I am connected to my network AND using my local ip address. But, I cannot connect using my external address while being connected to the same network or 3G.
Port 1723 tcp is forwarded and I have verify it by checking with an online port checker. Can someone suggest what else I need to check or enable? I have also tried disabling windows firewall and my virus program to no available.
?
Im sorry if i sound stupid but i really don't understand the tutorial. Is it possible that you can make a video tutorial? It does not matter to me if the quality is not that great but i just really need a video or at least some pictures to guide me....
I neeed help
what do you put for the server ip
Anything that bypasses paid features of an app or program is considered warez on XDA. This one slipped through the cracks.... But now it's closed.

[Q] How to make Desire S anonymous?

Hi I would like to make my phone anonymous when i connect to wifi. I would like to use internet in my work but i dont want anyone to know who is this. I also would like to use utorrent on android. So when I connect to my wifi hotspot at home I have all informations about my phone, like name (HTC), some numbers etc. There is also possible to gain for example my google account name? Or more informations? How to make phone complete anonymous? For example that administrator of the network will think that i use computer.
really no one? :/
It's not that there is no answer, but by the question it looks like you won't understand the answers to your question even if given them. If I tell you that you can change your hostname, but it won't help you since if any sysadmin will want to know who you are - he'll easily track you by your MAC address, will you know what I'm talking about?
So, the answer is - no, if sysadmin wants to know who you are - you can't hide, he can just know your MAC and physically check all devices until he finds the one, or just blacklists it and you won't have access anymore. But there is no "informations about your phone" that anyone sees, besides what the phone is broadcasting as a part of various network protocols (like hostname).
Yes i know what are you talking about. So he can see only my hostname and MAC address? For example when I use conectify software the program see me like a HTC and there is also a logo of HTC. So i understand that by MAC address he can not know what device it is? Maybe only the wireless card manufacturer. I only do not want that he will know that this device is a phone.

MAC address discloses device manufacturer. You can for example look this up on a site like this: http://hwaddress.com/
So it would be safe to clone a PC MAC address if possible.
There is chance to change MAC address in HTC?
I dont know if pdroid is what i need but however it works only with CM10, am I right?
PDroid doesn't help at all. It blocks data from applications, it doesn't and can't do a thing with low level OS drivers.
You can most likely spoof a MAC address, if you dig deep - you'll probably find a way to do it. But again, it won't help you. If your sysadmin will be determined to find you - he will find you, and if he's not - you can just use the phone "as is".

[Q] bit torrent compliant vpn app for nexus 5 with lollipop

Hello,
i am a newbie at XDA and have only the barest of knowledge on android.
i have a simple problem.
the server in my university campus is blocking mostly all traffic on its wifi network. for example media on whatsapp will not be downloaded and so on. most importantly torrents are blocked.
i tried to use some vpn apps on my device and it solved the problem to the most extent. i am currently using 'psiphone' to route my data through the server.
almost all traffic is now working except torrents.
so can someone please suggest some app or workaround to solve the torrent blocking.
i am using an unrooted 16gb nexus 5 running the stock android lollipop OTA.
really need help here.
and thanks in advance to anyone who tries.
