SwiftKey 3 Beta Download! - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Themes and Apps

Hi everybody, TouchType Ltd. have decided to release their latest beta for the ever popular SwiftKey today for free
Seeing as the demand for the beta is hammering their servers, I decided to upload the .apk to my dropbox for everybody to enjoy. Just download and install like you would with any other app
Here's the file: http://db.tt/GHjXdQi7
FYI, this is a FREE, OPEN beta and therefore this is a FREE APP. I understand the rules of xda, and I do not condone or promote pirating in any way!
Sent from my Galaxy Note, using Tapatalk 2 Beta 5!

thanks dude
can you upload the changelog here, or what's new and different in this version compared to the retail one?
edit: ah, never mind, curiosity has made me go to the website

Quick update! : its really faster less laggier feels much more improved whit some new themes... Also auto correction engine seems even more optimized I'm typing whit it now and the coolest thing about this is I can erase my last word by swiping trough the keyboard!
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium

I'm coming from Smart Keyboard Pro. It seems pretty fast. Runs well. I haven't had any problems so far. I love the Neon theme. Once I get used to all the gestures I'm sure I will be able to speed up with it. So far so good. Thanks for posting!

can someone explain why they removed the comma key?

B4 this I'm using the old version ...I will test this too...

i'm back to the retail version, this one just doesn't cut it for me somehow
there were more features with the retail version settings, especially the long press duration, and the punctuation keys being separated.

Probably because some people, like me, were complaining that the old space bar was too freaking narrow. I kept accidently hitting the period. It's way better now.
The comma is now more of a swipe - a fine tradeoff imho.

Oooo this is nice. It's much better on mine. Thank you for this. Really pleased!
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk

Are people using the tablet version of the keyboard or the normal phone one?

Tablet version. The phone version told me to get the tablet version, which I already used... I was just curious how it looked like.

How is it different than FlexT9 which I have been using for years

Yeah, but old farts like me get cranky when they change something
LOL...

For me the old version is much better. The beta lags (ok the final version might fix this). But the layout without comma is stupid. There is more then enough room for a direct comma key, at least in the landscape on a 10" device. If there's no other way they could remove the stupid SwiftKey key or make it as second feature for comma.
Another point is the lacking option to change long key press duration for secondary assignment.
The possibility to learn from older SwiftKey in addition to Gmail, Facebook and Twitter would be nice too.
At the moment I will not test it on my Note, maybe I'll give some later versions a try.

Screw the comma man i always hit that accidently while typing and im sure its the same for the others my texts always looks like this whit the comma : hey.le.ts go some.where. tonight -.-

I have a "radical" idea...how about swift key making an OPTION to have either
the larger spacebar, or, a smaller space bar WITH the comma key option.
Call me goofy, but let the USER make the decision on the spacebar size?

Keyboards for the Sensation

Hello all,
Is their a better keyboard for this phone? I really dont like the ones it comes with. Also what about the spell checker? Is that part of the keyboard program?
What ones are you using?
Thanks
join the swype beta.
http://beta.swype.com
Once you go Swype, you never go back.
If you don't like Swype style, try the Gingerbread keyboard on the Market.
Smart keyboard
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I've always liked the Gingerbread kb! But, Smart is also cool...
I only use swype when I only have 1 hand available, but I mainly use gingerbread keyboard pro from market cause I can make the spacebar super big on it (I normally miss it when it's small lol)

Is there a keyboard where you could turn the phone sideway and it shows you the keyboard as well as the screen? I don't like how it only shows you the keyboard.

Better Keyboard 8. I previously used it with the I/O skin & it could splitscreen.
Smart Keyboard FTW.

I tried all the rest, used Swype for a year, then switched to SwiftKey. Best keyboard hands down. You won't regret it. Free beta on the market.

For me and for now I use the flext9, which is powered by dragon. But I already paid for it a while ago. But I suggest use what others have already said. Try the beta swype for yourself and see if you like it. I have used swype and would get pissed at it when it got buggy...yes I know its a beta , but I would go to another kb. The GB kb is great for a plain jane kb, also, swiftkey X beta works well too.
If I were you, I would try all the free versions of kbs, starting with the most popular to what you like and narrow it down from there.
Smart Keyboard Pro. I've had it since my Nexus one days, and it's still the best.
Thanks everyone, I will check them all out after work today.
I wouldnt mind also trying a new browser, any suggestions? I know a little bit of whats out there but still learing.
Thanks again everyone.
only swype ... still best //

I am currently using Thumb keyboard without any issues. The dev are even adding support for this phone (so I have read in another forum).
I'm currently using tablet version and only think with (sometimes) wrong size are suggestions, on short words only since the font size decreases on longer words.

I am aware that I can choose different layout but as I get used to it I find it more easier to use. My passwords consists of various numbers and letters and I find it easier to type as the numeric keys are present on the same screen
On Swiftkey X I decreased the long press to 250ms from 500ms so I just have to hold the letter for a split second to get a number. It's pretty fast.

The people who make Switkey are aware of the issue and working on a fix (lekky emailed them to enquire).
Waiting for a size fix then. Need also more predictions.

Hey there SwiftKey fans,
We have a brand new Beta for you to try out! As always, we have made changes based on feedback from our VIPs, and we want to thank them for helping us to make this version of SwiftKey 3 Beta the best yet.
This new Beta has:
Improved prediction algorithms
Better, more consistent punctuation key behavior
Smarter Smart Space functionality (which will make it easier to enter email addresses etc)
A refined experience in Google Chrome Beta
Fixed missing predictions on the longpress of @ and .com
Improved gestures
Eliminated lag on letter pop-ups
Various other minor bug fixes and usability improvements
You can download the new Beta for your phone here: http://vip.swiftkey.net/sk3beta , or for your tablet here: http://vip.swiftkey.net/sk3tabletbeta
Thanks for this, looks nice, I'm using it to type this message, soo much better than the crappy old version!

Yes! but swiftkey servers are down... I'm trying to access. I'll update the tablet version as soon as i can.
Thanks I'm waiting for hours because swift key site its Down.
No gestures?
Thanks for the share!
What does everyone think about the beta? I love the new themes and bigger space bar, but having no gestures and all punctuation on the same button having me scratch my head. I loved the swipe to delete a whole word feature!
Thanks for the link. Have been trying to grab this since I read about it earlier, with no luck from the SK site.
Totally genius app!!!love it like he'll!

Thanx, been waiting to try this.
Does anyone know if there's a way to stop the "Select Input Notification" to constantly pop up while using this? I've looked thru the SwiftKey settings to no avail. It's super annoying and distracting.
Anyway to change the period to a question mark? They had a question mark there before. Now it takes so long to add commas and question marks
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I really hope they put back in the long-press duration setting. I find this one of the most appealing parts of SwiftKey.
Will they update SwiftKey X to SwiftKey 3 or do we need to buy another keyboard?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I dont known but you can have two kbs installed and choose one of them. In my list of kbs appears "Swiftkey X" and Swiftkey 3 Beta".
Frank
Yea, I hope I don't need to buy another keyboard for what should be enough to justify as just an update.
As as for the lag, that seems to have gotten a lot better after switching themes from cobalt to holo. Still is kind of laggy though.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
There are two points that i dont like at all about last beta. The short size of letters/simbols amb my clear theme (like ics) that does not appear in theme list.
Enviado gracias a la magia del hombre blanco
Also, when you long press the period to access the punctuation, the first option after pressing should be a comma. Why should anyone long press the period only to select period.

I thought the stock “Swype” was so bad that I was going to send the phone back. Got Swype Beta and it made all the difference in the world.
BigK52
I have to agree about Swype, I feel like the latest update has been a step back. My complaints are:
1) they removed the "delete whole words" shortcut found in the menu when you Swype to the #5
2) I dislike how my Swype button rarely highlights a word so I can change it. Sometimes it will just keep going to the beginning of every word until it gets to the beginning of the sentence/paragraph.
3) the responsiveness for punctuation seems to miscalculate and place an error more frequently than I've seen in prior versions.
It feels like a step back although not much is missing. I've been using it for roughly a year so I know how far Swype has come.

Best first post ever!
Wow.....just installed swype beta instead of this stock samsung crap that was on before. Probably 96% accurate now instead of ~50%. It's now bearable to put text down with just one thumb again Now I just want that microphone icon on the swype keyboard so I can talk if I wanted.
I have been using Swype since my OG Droid and I don't think I could ever use another keyboard again. One tip I have is to turn off the auto-correct, especially useful if you use any shorthand or slang in texts etc.
SlimSnoopOS - I totally agree on #2, I hate that it only highlights the previous word about 25% of the time now. I can't figure it out, its like its totally random now...
I was a huge fan of Swype. After changing android phones without Swype on it, I started looking. Amazon offered Flex T-9 as the free app of the day some time ago which I lucked up and downloaded for free. This is the BEST app out there right now.
Not sure if they have a free trial, but it's definitely worth the money!
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Agreed, stock swype is awful. It seems that it's attempt at "learning" has actually made it worse. I feel like it was more accurate 3 weeks ago than it is now.

The voice detection is still there, it's just the flame icon now (at the bottom right next to the Search/Return button).
The icon change was because Swype was bought by Nuance, which also owns Dragon Naturally Speaking (the flame logo). They are branding the voice search, which is why the icon has changed. I hope this also leads to some under-the-hood improvements thanks to the merger.
You can consider using Swiftkey 3 as well
I find it to be a lot better at text prediction although it may not work for those who prefer swyping
Just saying thanks guys. Beta Swype is awesome and is a million times more accurate than stock solution.

[App] SwiftKey Flow beta- The nextgen keypad !

The nextgen keypad from the SwiftKey team is finally out for the users. But its still in its beta version. So you folks can give it a try. Its definitely worth a shot. An awesome keypad !
SwiftKey Flow adds support for gesture-based typing, which means you can type by sliding your finger from one key to another without lifting it off the screen. The best feature is that you can type whole sentences without lifting your finger off the screen ! Thats cool is it not.

As a swype user, I liked that it seemed like swype, but it's not the same. The predictions were a bit wonky and I'd have to correct it too often. I feel like it still caters more to the "tapper" crowd. A good app for what is advertises to be, just not for me.
