[Q] help with sony xperia play r800x - General Questions and Answers

I am new to posting so please bear with me, I recently purchased a sony xperia play r800x from ntelos ( a regional carrier serving western VA) The phone was giving me issues with sluggish performance and randomlyfreezing and rebooting ntelos warranty would not exchange the phone because they said it was a "known issue" so ithought maybe it was a memory issue the phone has a lot of preloaded games you cannot remove, so i rooted the phone and attempted to remove a game using titanium backup which case my phone powered off and was stuck at the "sony ericsson" screen i attempted to reload a firmware using wotan client but now my phone has averizon firmware and i cannot get any service is there anyway to get my ntelos firmware back on my phone? i have looked everywhere and i am at my wits end please help

Help:
1. Install Android SDK and ADB drivers on your PC
2. Install SE (Sony Ericsson) FlashTool.
3. Download r800x ftf original rom file and put it in firmware file in flashtool
4. put your phone in USB Debugging, and use flashtool (click the lightning bolt and follow the directions)
fin.
There's threads all over the place that could help, just wanted to make it easy. When you flash the ftf, you will have to reactivate your phone, and the rom will be un-rooted. You can re-root using zergrush on flashtool.
Best of luck

help needed for my bricked phone

i have a sony xperia e.. i installed cracked google play installer and it installed cracked google play in my phone.. cracked google play worked fine for one day and then it stopped working.. so then i uninstalled it and installed normal google but even that didnt work.. when i use to open cracked google play installer it showed patchhing core.jar.. so i thought deleting core.jar will make play store work and i eventually deleted it and swicthed off my phone.. then i switched it on and its struck in bootloop.. i was still on original firmware and had rooted my phone and was on a locked bootloader.. i went to developer.sonymobile.com and downloaded flash tool to flash original firmware and flashtool isnt recognising my phone.. i read in sony developer website that flash tool works only for unlocked bootlader.. so i thought of unlocking my phone and i downloaded the sdk adt bundle from developer.android.com and then when i run eclipse its showing that no jdk found in the path where the eclipse is present.. fed up of all these i took my phone to the nearest sony service center.. they tell me that software is modified and they need to change to change motherboard to install the original software which would cost 80 % of the initial phone cost.. im just took my phone back.. anyone help me in flashing original firmware on my locked bootloader or probably unlocking the bootloader

[Q] [D2303/D2305] PC won't recognize my device after attempted root

Good day all I have a question regarding my new device which I attempted to root. I have searched these forums and can't find anyone with the same problem as mine. Running 4.4.4.
For reference, I was following this guide: http: //tinyurl.com/o6v3hqf
Everything was going swimmingly. I followed the steps in the guide exactly up to and including typing "fastboot reboot". Once I did this, my PC would no longer recognise the device that was plugged in. In addition, the Xperia M2 will not boot, the Sony logo will appear and then the screen will intermittently flash. I can boot it into recovery mode, just fine, but there is no file on my Xperia to boot from.
The next step in the guide says to install SuperSU from an SD card which I am confident I can achieve, but I am concerned that my PC won't be able to recognise my device if the root is successful (therefore I wouldn't be able to transfer over music etc).
Will my PC be able to recognise the device once the root is successful? Should there be additional steps I need to take?
Sorry if my questions seem Noob-ish this is my first smartphone.
Thank you for reading
.
Open the sim tray.
There will be a small hole. Jam a thin pen or a pin or paper click into it.
Wait a few seconds and make sure screen is off. Go into a dark room or somin. If it's not hold the pin in until it is.
Upon boot spam the down vol. as fast as you can.
It'll send you into CWM.
Then you should be able to follow into the rest.
Also using the UK and the International .ftf i was unable to root (i could but after it was bricked)
So i had to use the vietnam rom.
ALSO it was (here comes the hate m8)
You didn't read it properly and was partially your own fault. It clearly states it for 4.3.X running 18.0.A.1.30 – v01. By running a boot.img or kernel based on "completely wrong" generations you have bricked it your self.
I suggest you redo this but following this guide here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/help/tut-flashing-ftf-4-nbz-t2970145
Flash the vietnam .ftf also find out what model your phone is D2303 or D2305.
Wrong .ftf will waste a good 30mins of downloading and render your phone useless until further flashing a new rom or ftf.
Then flash the boot.img from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...2303-cwm-based-recovery-6-0-4-6-root-t2884503
The 2 posts explains it very well in the posts it selves. But don't be afraid to ask questions.
Hope I helped
Thank you for the advice. I agree I started following a guide without doing the necessary research. 100% my own fault. I will read the guide you posted and report back!
I can't find this Vietnam ftf anywhere.
My model is D2303. I have followed the above guide but flashed to Central Europe 4.4.2. I am still looking for a Vietnam .ftf file. I have found links for Malaysia and Russia, but no Vietnam yet.
I used the internal/journalists jb4.3 ftf top one in list on flashtool. Has the 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 updates waiting once booted up. I'm in UK and it works 4g n data just fine ,I Rooted 4.3 with towelroot apk (one çlick) then updated over the air twice each time checking root with root checker. Then force root with flashtool then installed SuperSU but don't update binarys in SuperSU till you have forced root and updated to 4.4.4 this was my first time ever rooting a phone too.
It helps to do your home work though i did two months reading up on here and the net it helped loads

[Q] Can't find updates for android 4.4.4

Hello. My xperia m2 says that there are no updates and the phone is up to date but it's with android 4.4.2. Theres 1 secound delay in the sound when I play games or use downloaded apps like youtube also the audio doesn't sound very good. To fix that I need to update the android version but I cant. I connected the phone to my computer and updated it with sony PC companion but the version is still 4.4.2. What should I do? I don't want to use flashtools or anything. I think it's the phone's fault for that and I should give it back to the place where I bought it so they can fix that. The phone is brand new and they already changed my camera because it wasn't working. So what should I do?
I suppose it has to do with the Country of your phone and/or if it is branded. IF after using PC Companion it's still with 4.4.2 I'm afraid your best (and only) option is to use Flashtool. Not sure how it works if it is branded though, you may need to to something to be able to de-brand it.
Well, actually try first to check if 4.4.4 is available in this way:
- Dial *#*#7378423#*#* (*#*#service#*#*)
- Check the number in Service Info/SW Info/Customization version. You just need the xxxx-yyyy part
- Downdload and install Flashtool (it's small. You just need it for checking)
- Run Flashtool
- Go to Devices/Check Updates
- Select your phone double clicking on the id xxxx-yyyy you have got before.
- If the version is 18.3.C (like the one for 3 UK) there is no 4.4.4. the latest ROM is 4.4.2. It must be 18.3.1.C for 4.4.4
My is branded from T-mobile, and i flashed CE ftf to debrande, everything is good except i don't have extra apps that T-mobile puts in. As i know your safe flashing ftf cos it's official Sony's software, just using Flashtool instead of PC Companion and you won't lose warranty, as long as you don't unlock bootloader.
Good Luck.
Xperia M2 D2303 on K.K. 4.4.4
Do I install the flashtool on my computer or on my phone?

Obviously on the computer. It's needed to flash the phones from it. Just google it, you find it immediately. Then if you decide to flash a generic 4.4.4 FTF just search around. There are dozens of guides in the Internet.
Alright thanks for your support guys

D6653 won't allow update to 6.0.1

Im in japan. my phone doesn't show ota for marshmallow, only for Sony bloatware. and pc companion on Mac says yes there is an update available... But then after about ten seconds the dialog box is replaced saying that I am running latest version available (though i have 5).
Same results when I tried VPN.
My phone is unlocked as originally purchased. I have a data sim.
Does it refuse because I have only 500mb on internal? There is no error message-it just changes its mind.
Any ideas? Just wait?

There is actually a mac version of Flashtool, but maybe not xpirifirm so you might have to find a pre-made FTF.
I guess you don't have root?
Update manually with Flashtool? Lots of guides available. Might not even have to make your own FTF file, but I recommend doing so if you can as then you know what is in it.
Essentially this is the same as using Sony software to do it, but you have more manual options. Download the files with xpirifirm, decrypt them with flashtool (not as complicated as it sounds), then it will make an ftf file for you which is the bit that contains all the system for the phone / update, then follow instructions to flash it onto the phone.
I'll look for a decent guide link.
My top tip is to make sure the TA partition stuff is excluded when you select what components to add to the ftf file to be safe, but flashtool should exclude this by default. And to make sure you download the software for your exact device so double check it when you choose
It really isn't as overwhelming as it may seem when you first look at it.
How to make the ftf: http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/08/1...re-files-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool-guide/
How to flash it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697277
(Just ignore the parts telling you to download anything in the flashing guide as you got it from the "how to make" and obviously just replace that phone and firmware with your own)
Thanks. I have rooted and flashed a couple other phones but not Sony. I guess I would do that if it came down to it, but it shouldn't be necessary. With the z3 don't see the payoff for the risk. I can live with the bloatware.
More to the point this update should just work! Why isn't it?
If I use PC companion doesn't that get the update straight from Sony regardless of carrier? (I have no carrier, just a 3 month data sim)

If I helped hit thanks
Something along the way is causing the problem. Tried reinstalling PC companion?
I say manual flash because that eliminates the variable that it's your phone causing the problem and also gets you updated as you wanted soooooo two birds with one stone
If you can't so it by PC I hope the phone eventually sorts itself out
Did you use xperia companion? If you used that, then there might be no update available yet for your phone, because xperia companion have a bug that shows an update is available, but there really is no update available.
Yes I'm using xperia companion. I guess I'm experiencing that bug you mention.
How can I establish if an update is available when I have no carrier? If I have no carrier then is it still dependant on the country I'm in? I know others have received the update for d6653 in other countries.

Trick or hack Xperia Companion into using other firmware files when Repairing phone?

Im wondering if anyone has tried to use Xperia Companion (XC) to install firmware other than the latest available. XC uses firmware files located in the ...UpdateEngine\localstorage\US\ folder, so i thought i could swap them with files downloaded from Xperifirm. I even renamed Android12 binary files with Android11 filenames, but appears XC is too smart for me. Trying to Repair offline doesn't work either.
I ask because im now on Android12 and would like to go back to Android11, but im having no luck. Flashtool comes up with errors, Newflasher gives me the "Your device is corrupted" warning.
I'll get there eventually, i hope.
From what I understand you'd have to do a clean install and also unlock bootloader once you go up an Android level you can go back sorry I can't help you
