Just watched a video on youtube showing an iphone with wireless charging!
Cant post a link so search 'new iphone 5 with wireless charging' to find it.
The video had distorted sound but you can see the phone charging wirelessly.
Is this the new iphone?? when is it coming out??
gessmil 534,
Hi, there are no known facts about new iPhone... not yet
So, anything you saw on the internet is most likely fake and fan fiction
You are such a douche
XDA should really have an intelligence test before letting idiots like you sign up.That'll stump you'll more than a Captcha.
Coming out tomorrow at eleventy o clock.my dog works at apple and he told me.

HAHAHAHAAHHAAA!!!! That's not nice, but funny as hell.
Judging by the hasty replies, I assume no one actually bothered to look at the video.
On youtube, the title is: New iPhone 5 with wireless charging built in
Have a look for yourself before spewing out the smack talk. The guy is putting the phone on a dock I've never seen before and it starts charging.

Look kid, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the video you saw was a fake. Apple does not leak anything about their phones or devices. Do you remember when the iPhone 4S came our? Yeah well there were 100's of videos on the net claiming to have the inside scoop on the new iPhone but all were wrong, except for a small few that guessed right.
Anyways, the point I'm making is that most XDA users are not so gullible to fall for these videos. And when you open up a thread in the "General" section for everyone to see about this topic, expect some negative feedback from naysayers.
That can't be the iPhone 5. Its not announced yet, only rumours of its specs. About wireless charging, I think there are accessories available to do that with any or most of the phones.
It's either just a video playing on the phone or they used an HP/Palm Touchstone with a conductive back on the iPhone to charge it. Whether or not it's real (which it's probably not), this is nothing groundbreaking. The first Palm Pre could do this, and other phones like the Evo have been modded to do this.

I almost believed you until it was the dog talking. There are only a few talking dogs and Steve Jobs has a cat lover no dogs allowed at Apple.
Doesn't sound like Apple's MO.. to release a product with pre-loaded features.. maybe an upgrade but I doubt it will come with the capability..

Factory wipe and back to the store you go, you incredibly powered but finicky thing, you!
Just not the device for me. I had fun rooting and customizing, but the tablet just doesn't want to behave. foremost, I want a device that works. Should have just sprung for the extra $150 (including tax) and got the iPad...
BUT wanted to say thanks to robeet and everyone else here who helped me with questions along the way. You guys are all pretty great!
Sorry to see you go! Hope you can find the tablet that best suits your needs.
now we can talk about him.
I am afraid my gtablet will suffer the same fate.
Funny I have both g tab and I pad and I'm thinking of giving the I pad as a gift basically there is nothing exciting about it.
I think you should try the I pad first. I'm not saying that the g tab is #1 but the I pad is definitely not.
Tried the ipad. Yeah, built in 3g w/ data was sweet.
But man, this is a BEAST. So much more than the iPad. Once an optimized tegra android rom rolls out...it's gonna rock. I'm having a bunch of fun trying stuff out, seeing what games I like, apps, etc...
Open source based devices for the win.
The iPad just works. But the g tablet works, in a much bigger atmosphere, so yeah, there are some bugs to iron out. But it's capable of a bunch more.

There are a few DIY options, You could put a small sticker on them, for example. Others have suggested glow in dark stickers so it can be seen at night.
I actually have a ZT-180 Frankencase where I punched out holes in the leather where the buttons are and then layered them with tape - gives it a tactile feel. But it's real ugly looking.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. I'm using the vegan rom and use the soft buttons that show on the status bar. I love this Rom and tablet so far! I haven't even tried tnt light but I don't think I need to, this rom works perfect for me so far. The ipad does seem a little boring compared to the g tab in my opinion, once you play with android its hard to use something like ios and be satisfied, for me anyway.

No Flash, no USB host, no USB connectors and iTunes interface forced upon the user are the main reasons- no iPad for me.
That said, there ARE some great games and others coming to it.... STAY AWAY FROM THE PRETTY LIGHT!
All our OP had to do was make a CW backup and update apps with Titanium. Any problems and BOOM! back in business in less than 30 minutes
That all said, were it not for Clockwork, I will be bold to say that almost EVERY one of us would be returning ours too (already would have). The roms are GREAT, but we would be pretty much be screwed without CW. Only mega techs would be bothering with the other options.
The only thing the ipads got on this is the screen.

JS: For Dungeon Defenders: First Wave, Tegra 2 is primarily a question of "best experience". The game runs by far best on Tegra 2 out of any mobile device we've put the title onto. It's nearly a portable PC level of graphics capability. So while the game doesn't require Tegra 2, we do prefer to play it that way here, which provides an HD resolution, the highest quality textures, and a set of levels that simply could not be rendered on the lower-spec devices. But for the wide array of other SOC's out there, they'll still be getting an experience that is pretty darn awesome.

Yeah, you can't deny that this thing is a powerhouse. But, in it's current state it is definitely a high maintenance device. And when it comes to a tablet, I just want to turn the thing on and have it do what it's told. Sure, thanks to clockwork flashing ROMS is not as terrible as it could be, but still...
Ultimately I don't have a lot of problems with the iPad's constraints. As a lifelong apple user I'm fine with the itunes based file system. (although killing the ability to use the device as removable drive has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen!) And as far as the no flash thing goes, I was playing with an iPad in the store the other day, and all the sites I went to played video! CNN, BBC, ESPN, IGN... I guess they're running HTML5 in parallel with their traditional formats.
All that said, I might not even get one. Ver2.0 will be out in 4 months. I can probably wait.
In related news, I just noticed my receipt is EXCHANGE ONLY, and seeing as how I don't need $425 in credit at office depot, I've posted it on craigslist for $400. If anyone here is in the LA area and is interested in buying, I'll sell for $350.
Again, you guys kick ass. And overall I would consider it a positive experience.

To the op, don't leave for an ipad now. Gingerbread is here, honeycomb is almost here along with other tegra 2 devices, ipad 2 is coming...etc. why pay for an ipad that's going to be yesterdays news in a couple of months. At least wait for a price drop on the ipad.
To everyone else, everyone knows that being a custom rom flasher/addict isn't for everyone. Especially when its in its beginning stages just like our gtablet. I can say that force closes and bootloops don't bother me because I know its part of the game. I'm. Just glad I know where to look for solutions (xda) and I know how to use nvflash if necessary.

Double post.
I don't know what the heck is going on, but I don't this is is normal. People are buying an excellent device and far from enjoying it, they spend all the time trying to find a defect, whatever it may. It sounds to me like mass hysteria fueled by unrealistically high expectations and highly polarized opinions and advices from false experts.
Not only people complain about behavior that it's perfectly normal and within the acceptable parameters, but also show surprise to design issues that they should very well know way in advance before purchasing the device: no FM radio, no notification LED, no 4G bands, etc. Or about application failing under a new Version ofnthe OS.
It could be me, but it seems this is getting to a level of paroxysm that is not healthy. I don't usually agree with Steve Jobs but I have to admit he was right when he allegedly say: it's just a phone!
I risk sounding like an old man, but I'm going to go on a limb and say that XDA did not sound like that during the windows mobile days, and those devices were horrible by today's standards. What's happened?
I so agree with you I'm coming from an iphone now on the S n 4 was the shi but even that had to be tweaked so much to actually get it to its best ability n ppl still had complains, I think first of ppl who really dont know how to take a phone to its full potential or know how to find a work around for what they are missing or they are just miserable complain about the phone. I paid the full price but I did do my research n knew what I was buying. Since day one I have been happy with my S and after putting Modoca Rom n a few apps n other tweaks n widgets my phone is perfect for me. Ppl want perfect from an electronic device, contradicting to what I said but perfect isnt attainable but the S comes close. Return the phone if u want to complain about these lil issuse or do more research next time before you.

Probably something to do with the increased cost of devices and people expecting more for their money and rightly so IMO.
If I fork out premium money I expect a premium device and not one with defects.
It may well be just a phone to some but it's also many other things to many people. If I buy a sat nav I expect it to be fully functional with no defects, likewise if I buy a media player, a camera, a games machine, an internet tablet etc etc... should we not expect the same of a convergence device?
This thread has the potential to get ugly...
Short answer to your question is YES, IT'S NORMAL. Normal in that it's common across the internet, not just on the NS, but on anything (smartphones, cars, computers, etc).
Outside of the development sections of a forum like this, most people who are just happy and loving their device aren't going to come and post about it, so there's a natural negative skew on most forums dedicated to a product. People usually find the forum because they looked for someplace to talk about the problems or dissatisfaction with the device.
No opinion on whether it's healthy or not; for some it's cathartic to vent in public...

Agreed. You have to be somewhat flexible when it comes to issues such as these. For some, spending $500 for a phone equates to months of saving, so yes, they want it to be perfect, or darn close to it. But stuff happens, and you just have to roll with the punches sometimes. If it's defective, exchange it for another one. I purchased an Asus G73 gaming Laptop (high end laptop) and had a ton pf problems with it. I exchanged it and had a problem with the replacement. I returned it and purchased an HP Envy 17 Beats Edition instead, and everything is right in the world again. It is what it is. I'm extremely happy with my Nexus S and my Hp Envy 17. Life is good.
When I look in youtube for reviews of various stuff, 50% of them are "unboxing" reviews. I don't get it. When I buy something, I'm buying it because of that something, not it's box. I don't care about the box.
These unboxing videos tells me absolutely zip about the product itself. Why are they so popular?
Another thing that bothers me about these unboxing videos is that it tells me the reviewer doesn't really know about the product.
For example, say I just bought a kick-ass watch that has a radar system and missile launcher. But to operate these features, I'd have to learn how to use the buttons. By reviewing this kick-ass watch when I just unboxed it (when I know absolutely nothing about it) can you really trust my review of this kick-ass watch? What if I can't figure out how to operate the radar and missile launcher in the first minute after I unboxed it? Would it be fair for you to then think the watch is crap because I couldn't figure out how to use it in the first minute?
These unboxing videos are a waste of cyber space.
I think that these are mostly to:
- to show the product is real/production (lots of vaporware around) and
- what comes in the box

Then why are these unboxing reviewers passing judgement on the product itself after only playing with it for like 30 seconds after unboxing?

Because they are a waste of your time to watch. If you see someone reviewing, who's just taking it out of the box, stop the video and go somewhere else. I agree with you I don't care to watch the unboxing of a product, it's pretty pointless. I think it all started with the nice packaging Apple products had, then Palm had some nice packaging with the Pre, but let's face it, all the packaging does for me is go in my closet after I open it waiting there in case I decide to resale it later.
The answer to your question is the reason You Tube exists.
I want to know more about this watch you speak of.

Yeah, one-handed calling is a definite no-no. I tried my ASUS TF700T phone in a full train compartment, but all my fellow passengers were looking at me in a funny way. That might have been me almost screaming to get any reception in the microphone of the 700, though. Also, they could probably hear the conversation better than I did, the speaker being at the back of the phone and all.

I've actually seen people do it. I always smirk when they try and take an artsy photograph with it -- last summer, I was witness to a group of Japanese tourists snapping pictures of the animals in a large zoo in Amsterdam (Artis, for the Dutch). Hilarious.
For the sake of information and blowing off some quirkyness: before my eye surgery, I had great eyesight and lugged around a D90 with glass in abundance on trips like that. No way I'm taking pictures with a tablet -- that would feel like being recruited into a police riot squad and getting your equipment, then noticing the rather disconcerting likeness of your baton to a large German sausage and your riot shield's resemblance to an American pizza... until you realize that they are, actually, a German sausage and a big-wheel pizza.

Thanks, regard that as a compliment.
I was surprised to learn that in some countries it is actually against the law to have your digital camera not make a fake shutter sound when photographing. That seemed jaw-droppingly stupid -- as I've always hated people with digital shutter soudns, as well as people having keypad sounds on their phones (makes dialing go "beep-beepbeeeeeepbop-booop-beepbeepbeep-baab). The latter class also talks so loud when in phone conversation that there's no place to hide on the commute. I can still hear them on the other end the train -- until it was put forward that, seemingly, a high percentage of silent cameras was used to make up-skirt photos and such. Seems I missed the point entirely in having a silent camera, since I've been making pretty "decent" pictures of flowers and animals and such. There's no eroticism in that, unless you have some specific kind of sexual deviation.
I've actually used the TF700 as a phone on several occaisions with GrooveIP. It's actually pretty nice with a bluetooth headset, but I'd never put it up to my face because a) can you imagine the nasty cheek grease? and b) no proximity sensor to turn the screen off.

That might actually be an advantage: currently it's freezing over here in Holland. If I'd put the screen brightness on high and just pretend to be on the phone with somebody, I'd at least have half of my face warmed up comfortably. Seriously? That's ridiculous. If you have such a problem with people taking picture up your skirt, pay some bloody attention to your surroundings, it's not hard, or simply don't wear a frikkin skirt. I never saw the point of them.
Yes, let's put the sound back on our shutters. Because it's such a good plan to use a shutter sound when photographing a herd of, say, deer. Scares the bloody sh*t out of them, forget about making a second shot. Not to mention butterflies, cats... And don't get me started on people. Taking urban snaps is pretty much pointless if everyone goes either looking straight at you to see what you're doing, or runs away because they're camera shy. Evidently laws are made by morons.
That's why I'm always in the silent coupé. No idiots on phones

Simple solution: use a real phone on your other ear - or even better: buy another TF700 and use that.

I believe the Galaxy S4 active comes pre-coated with a hydrophobic substance, which gives it its "waterproof" ability. However, the coating may degrade over time, and may require repeated applications. Neverwet was originally designed to be applied to clothing, so that you can theoretically wade into rivers and emerge on the other side completely dry, but it should also work on electronics.

Okay I just watched this video and they took a Iphone 5 and sprayed this new product called Never Wet on it and used Q-tips for the ear jack and powerjack to apply it to the openings and then placed it is a bucket of water. it still worked !!!! I am a doubting Tom on this, This is not the first time i have heard of this product but the first time i have seen a video of it being done....So is this really possible ? I have HTC One that I would love it do this one but I am not going to take a chance . So what say the XDA experts ? real or fake ?

It s real but i have question that if iphone will work underwater why thr s no IP Cert. For it??????
Even IP11 )
So this kind of video and test is silly
For example some galaxies and xperias are waterproof/resistant and they have IP Cert and we know they will survive underwater even don't see test video
But iphone underwater test...!!!
Anyway i say u that all phones will survive in little bit wet place
Even old Nokias and even htc One

Cool technology, but something I don't think most need or want.
