Real USB Tethering for Stock ROM

Hi there,
We've just developed on Motorola Defy an app for real USB Tethering,
Can anyone test it on DroidX?
It can share your Motorola's internet connection to your pc!
It's a real tethering not a simply MODEM Tethering, you should NOT pay extra cost to your Carrier!
The app is TOTALLY FREE, thread on xda:
Moto Tethering USB

Not really sure what you're asking but both of the root methods used for the thunderbolt require the use of a computer. I personally recommend Jcase's method because it gives you insight to the way the tb works and basic adb experience.

[Q] WiFi-Hotspot Issue?

I have a Nexus S (I9020A model). I bought it with an AT&T contract. Isn't the portable WiFi Hotspot feature supposed to be free on the Nexus S? I can turn on the hotspot, and I can connect to it with my iPad. However, when I try to browse the internet on the hotspot, it says that there's no internet connection. Help!
My software version is 2.3.6. The build is GRK39F.
Same problem for me, no solution except root/unlock & downgrade

Why downgrade? Have you tried wireless tether in the.market? Have you tried libsec-ril from a previous version?

<_< I used my tethering for 3 minutes and they found out and gave me a warning lol

I was assuming Jacobspoirier was stock/unrooted/locked. In which case he could root and download an app without the hassle of downgrading, you're right

Rooted and using Wifi Tether for Root Users. Just have to select Samsung Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE) under device profile in the app settings.
Which root did you use?

I'm using the Synergy Rom

It works straight after reboot, no tweaking involved.

awesome! thanks for the tip!

May get a GS3 cause I'm crazy. Couple questions though

I may get a GS3 but only if I can do a couple things ...maybe one thing. Can we remove the annoying, persistent WiFi notification in a stock ROM that's rooted and clockworked? Thank you!

Yea. I'm running Beans latest ROM n I don't get that notification

There is also a dialer code you can type in that will give you the option to turn it off.
Why would you need to be crazy to get a GS3?
Edit: IIRC it still shows up in the same spot after the code, but it shuts up about saying you should use Wifi and such
(been a while since stock, my bad)

I've read of some XML edits that can remove it but it'd need to be stock. I run stock, rooted so it'd need to be removable from the stock ROM. I wouldn't wanna see it in my notification bar or the pull down. And crazy cause I've had about a dozen phones in a year. I have a problem.

Yes, I'm also stock and rooted and i removed it, as well as that stupid popup about known networks in range.

The last update took it off for me. Haven't rooted yet and was prompted for the update I took it and after the reboot the WiFi notification was gone.
