For the life of me i cannot boot into CWM.
I used odin and flashed the ICS leak.
I then booted up and it worked fine.
I used odin to flash the CWM. It says completed.
I rebooted and phone works fine.
then tried to boot into recovery.
all i get is the manual mode. i have tried everything i can think of but still have had no luck. any suggestions?
Have you installed Clockwork and tried to reboot to recovery from that

How are you booting into cwm? Have you tried from rom manager? Are you on rogers or att.

cwm on ics skyrocket
I have installed clockworkmod and i am on [email protected] i have rom manager installed. but can't boot to cwm through do to no root. that was why i was trying to boot into cwm recovery. i never figured out why it wouldn't boot into recovery. but it eventually did, even though i changed nothing on my part. after that rooting was simple just had to flash the superuser zip a couple times. thanks for the responses though.

Just flashed ICS one click to my infuse that was rooted and running the last Zeus ROM. Ultimate goal was rooted jellybean, but thought I had to have ICS rom to proceed. Now, stuck on "Galaxy S cyanogen(mod)". I can boot into recovery, but nothing there to restore to. I have cleared everything I can from recovery mode, (but not done the factory restore yet). It is CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4. I can also boot into download mode, and have tried to reflash ICS, but same results. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Wipe everything and Flash the ROM one more time.

did you double flash? Coming from gb to ics requires a double flash. Hanging at galaxy s screen us normal. from galaxy s screen you need to go back to recovery and flash again.

Definitely double flash ICS if you haven't already. If it still doesnt work, boot into download mode and flash other Gingerbread rom then start the process over. I had a similar problem and started a thread (link can be found on qkster's post above) and it turned out that the initial Gingerbread rom might have interrupted the boot process. So give other gingerbread roms a try if you're still stuck after double flashing.
Ok, here's what I did.
I have had my s3 rooted and running custom ROM's. I stupidly and accidently flashed google wallet as my recovery using ezrecovery. Now the phone only boots into odin mode. Is there a way to get recovery back onto the device so I don't have to wipe it and start over (possibly losing everything on my internal SD card)?
Thanks in advance.
Silly Noob.
I don't think you'll be able to get recovery back. You'll probably need to flash stock with Odin.

I ended up with the same result after flashing a custom recovery incompatible with Imo's Lean Kernel/Kexec.
I used ODIN to flash the Root_66 ROM, and all of my internal SD contents remained intact. After the clean install, I flashed CWM 6.0.1 through EZ-Recovery and successfully restored a backup.
The only thing that didn't restore was the kernel.
Awesome. Lesson learned. Think twice before clicking! Odin'd to route 66 and now have recovery of my back up. Thanks guys!
Actually, I in case anyone does something similar the phone booted rooted just how I left it minus the custom rom. I re flashed the rom and I am back where I was without even having to flash a recovery. Thanks again!

When trying to update my TF I accidentally flashed an incomplete Rom (got lazy and didn't check MD5...) Anyway, ever since then it ALWAYS boots into CWM (5.8.3.4) If I boot w/Vol DN and let it cold-boot then it will go into a fresh install and setup fine. However, on the next reboot it will go back to CWM 5.8.3.4 I have flashed the newer CWM 6.0.1.4 v2 but it won't "take" the install seems to go fine but it always boots back to the old CWM. I've also flashed other ROMS and they don't "take" either.
Confused...

Install different recovery... use easy flash and push either TWRP recovery or rogue recovery... personally I prefer TWRP recovery.. once you have a new recovery wipe everything ( internal memory also) and install a better ROM...

So after 2 days of trying via Odin, I give up. Anybody here got a copy of Stock Recovery 3e? One that can be flashable via Odin?? I tried installing hyperdrive, and it installed via aroma but when I rebooted I got a Verizon Unauthorized rom warning. I really, really thought I had an unlocked bootloader after ez unlock. I don't have stock recovery nor cwm touch anymore (the one I replaced 3e with).
Since Odin just wouldn't work (tried all versions) and just fails after a few minutes, I figured maybe I could get away with flashing a recovery 3e, then wiping and reflashing a flashable stock rom from there. Any help will be appreciated.
Your best option is to figure out how to get Odin to flash stock. That will fix your recovery. Do you have the proper drivers installed? Does Windows detect it in device manager? Does Odin see it?

This solved my soft brick, I hope it solves yours too!

Hi guys. I have a Verizon S3 that is out of warranty that I've decided to mess around with since I've already upgraded to a G2. I tried to flash ClockworkMod Recovery using heimdall, but couldn't get it to work. Since I couldn't get heimdall to work, I rooted and installed ROM Manager, then installed ClockworkMod Recovery from there. When I rebooted to get into recovery it says "Verizon has encountered unauthorized software" and wouldn't let me in. I booted normally, then tried to go into recovery from ROM Manager. I get the same message, but now I'm stuck in a recovery loop. I've tried flashing back through heimdall and Odin, but neither one is working for me.
I can get into download just fine, but everything I try to flash with Odin gets me a big FAIL message. Any suggestions? The phone was upgraded to 4.3 before I got a hold of it, which is probably my main issue.
Try flashing ORIGINAL STOCK. You have a locked bootloader and will not be able to install a custom recovery or any custom rom. But, once you're up and running you can root it.

Do you have a link to the original stock files for 4.3? I've looked, but can't find any.
Try this. It worked for me.
