Same thing happened to me. Just keep trying. Different USB ports, different cable...or use Odin to flash the ics TAR. Make sure Odin recognizes your phone and try. May have to repeat this process of "open odin one click, connect phone, hit start " or "open Odin, connect phone, select PDA, select appropriate TAR, hit start ". Keep trying dude. May fail a few times before it passes.

If u were using the oneclick ics odin from design gears do it again. If ur trying to install ics a different way. Then stop it. Its not for our device and you'll end up bricking

Why is what i want to know. Check the dev section. We have roms u can flash directly from gingerbread in cwm with out wiping anything. No issues smooth transition to ics
There's 2 collective roms. Available. That offer u a simple flash upgrade. No kernel or modem flashes nessicary
Thank You
Apreciatte all of your help. I've dowloadead a stock tar and now its working fine. I would like to know if any of you know a safe way to update to ics?

You need to stop flashing and read the forum first. Understand what you are doing before you do it

Hey everyone,
So my Captivate (I897) got screwed up running Slim Bean 2.9 (JB 4.1.2), then the touchscreen stopped working, so I decided to reset the phone using Odin 1-click, using the packages here: <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843>. Anyway, I did this twice: I did it once with the UKK (Gingerbread 2.3.5 [the second one]) build without bootloaders. When the phone wouldn't boot, and stayed stuck at the AT&T logo, I decided to use Odin again, using the UCKJ3 (Gingerbread 2.3.5 [the first one]) build with bootloaders. Now I'm stuck at the AT&T boot screen again, and nothing is changing. I can get to download mode, but what should I do from here?
Thanks,

I would suggest stock KK4 (found in the Dev section, 3rd post of the stickied). Also, make sure repartition is on (it should be by itself)
Be patient, the first boot can take a while!

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. I flashed the KK4 but I'm back to the AT&T Boot screen again. Any other suggestions?
I'm mostly a noob, but whenever I do this I use an Odin 1 click that takes me back to eclair. Did your phone come with Eclair? Would rolling back to a GB system instead of eclair cause this?

Yeah, try with Heimdall. Sometimes one works and the others won't. Remember that Odin won't run on the same USB port Heimdall installs it's drivers on.

After running any of those have you tried getting into recovery? If so you might try flashing a custom ROM or if nothing else a custom kernel for GB?

1: Haven't tried Heimdall. Good idea.
2: I've tried getting into recovery, but the screen never blinks or anything-- it just stays on the ATT screen without any sort of response or any sign of life other than that
3: I'm pretty sure that I had upgraded from Gingerbread, so I don't think that this would apply.
Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I'm short on time right now but maybe in a little bit ill be able to try these out. Thanks for your input!

Not true, you can flash straight to any firmware as long as your bootloader situation is all good.

(Ye you're right, i forgot how I flashed my brother's P3110 to official Jellybean using Odin but I was on CM10.)
But when flashing captivate to KK4 it must first be in the base, the ROM make sure if the PDA is compatible to the next firmware

So I tried the one-click you posted, as well as Heimdall. The screen still stays on the ATT logo :crying:
However, I just noticed something on my computer; it seems the phone is showing signs of life, just not on the screen (still stuck at that beautiful ATT screen); Windows seems to momentarily recognize the phone, but then shows the error message that I'll post as an attachment.
Some of the Captivates do not like the one clicks. So try flashing through the regular Odin this firmware. (it does contain bootloaders, so flash at ur own risk). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19587108
U can get Odin3 v1.83 here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33577757
When flashing any firmware that contains bootloaders, be sure ur pc/laptop has a constant power source, u have a reliable usb/micro usb cable, use a usb port in the back of the pc (not a hub), and don't let anything disconnect the cable during the flashing of the bootloaders (boot.bin and sbl.bin). The possibility of a hard brick comes in when there is a bad bootloader flash, mix matched bootloaders, etc. And once u have the GB KK4 bootloaders there is no need to flash any bootloaders again....ever.

EDIT: No dice, I'm back to the ATT Screen
I just got my phone yesterday. I rooted it, backed up my appz with titanium backup (which is doing me no good now. the phone wont pick up internal hard drive in recovery mode. i downloaded an overclocking app but never used it. i changed the font today and installed Beats Audio and as SOON as the installation of Beats Audio was done, my verizon galaxy s3 froze. I was forced to pull the battery, the phone started up normally but got stuck at the 4G LTE screen. Ive tried clearing the cache, factory reseting it. I tried loading the rooted and stock roms. Odin tells me this

<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..

I get the same when i try to flash the stock bootloader as well. someone please help me. i just got this phone yesterday and i want my baby back. =crying:

AHHHH my friend i thank you VERY much. I thought this was the computer I used. I used my girlfriends laptop which is a better performing computer. but i did not think of that because I started this on another computer, continued on mine, and now, im on my girls laptop which i originally did my rooting on. Odin hasnt finished but im getting farther in the process than I have yet today. I DO thank you again for you help and wish you and your family a happy holiday season =)
Glad it seems to be working. One tip, after you get up and running make a backup in cwm before you do anything else. This way you always have a stock backup to fall back on.

I'm having the same problem with beats installer; I'm currently waiting on the Stock ROM to download so I can ODIN it back on. (fingers crossed)
In the meantime, do any of the beats zips' include support for the Volume Controls or fix the problem that you can't use them as phone headset? That's what I was really trying to accomplish.

Hi i was having the same issues with the beats driver i followed you step and managed to unbrick my device successfully. i flashed it to the unificial jelly bean leak to be exact it was this one Unofficial VRBLK1 4.1.1- http://www.myandroidfiles.com/open1y...w_ship.tar.md5 which once again was successful but the problem i am having now is rooting my device. i am using the same rooting method which is called debugfs-based root for galaxy sIII and now when it tries to copy the files necessary it keeps saying failed to copy su, and everything says failed to copy any of the files needed to root and my device reboots 3 times every single reboot step fails to copy any of the files. any ideas?? i am downloading the official stock verizon rom from your directions page i dont know if it is the rom or what it is help please thanks/
That page isn't showing, but that root method I believe is only for ICS. I would Odin to stock, root unlock and put on a recovery then flash in recovery one of that prerooted leaks

Hi everybody!
So I've read every thread on here regarding what to do when troubleshooting a bricked phone and yet none of which has worked. My younger brother created this mess for me by rooting his phone and flashing it. When I try to reverse the damage by rerooting, I can only put it into the download mode and clockworkmod but that's it, it won't get passed the AT&T screen and the SAMSUNG logo (it was a Rogers phone to begin with). Two of the drives on the phone keep giving error messages when I try to clear user data (/sdcard & /datadata). From what I gather, none of the USB debugging was done, he didn't back anything up (his loss) but the phone isn't partitioned properly (I personally don't know what that means). It doesn't appear to be a power button issue.
Is there someway I can salvage this phone, or should it just get scrapped?
Thanks in advance.
Go here to start with. Make sure you have Odin. To run it, right click and run as administrator. Follow instructions for package. If you don't know just google odin flashing.
Here is a Rogers odin package http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197248
Try that and see. Sounds like you got nothing to lose. Good Luck.

Correct,
Relax and take a deep breath. The phone is just fine and your going to fix it. I thought was in your position a few days ago and my phone was in much worse shape than what you have now. Odin is your friend. You just need to read some more first and ask a few questions.
Most likely you have not lost anything.
thanks
I appreciate the help thus far,
I've tried Odin and I guess I was using an AT&T package. I'll try using the Rogers package provided and let you know how it went.
Also, I don't mind being talked to like I have no clue what I'm doing, because that's exactly what I am. I just wish I knew exactly what he did to give more accurate information.

Hi!
This is my first post so please be patient and tolerant if i dont use the right place to put this thread, use wrong terminology, or if simply my question is to stupid....
My problem is the following:
I was searching for a way to flash cwm recovery over my twrp and instead of using the one for my Skyrocket i flashed one for the ZTE Warp... (I later found the right zip file here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773659)
The phone is still working but it takes a very long time to load when i turn it on and it crashes all the time.... Without knowing what the problem was I flashed the correct cwm recovery for Skyrocket thinking it would solve the issue, but it didnt...
I have tried wiping (factory reset), restoring from previous backups and flashing the cwm over but nothing seems to work...
Please help me solve this problem!
Im running on CM10 stable version.
Thank you very much
I would flash a stock rom with Odin and hope that clears everything up. And then start over with the correct custom recovery. You've found the right guides by vincom to do that.

Here is what I did:
Flashed Gingerbread Stock Firmaware with Odin. After it was successfully flashed the phone rebooted on its own. The att "rethink possible" logo appeared and after a while it went away but the same animation with the same logo loaded itself again... this happen millions of times (for about an hour) and it never loaded the OS. When I tried to turn it off it wouldnt let me but finally made it somehow... then I manually entered stock recovery mode made a factory reset and cahe partition wipe as well, rebooted the phone and it worked!
I am really happy!!! thank you all for helping me out!
The boot loop is typical if you don't do the factory reset. That's what got you through the boot loop. Glad everything is working.

So I just want confirmation of what I fear. I think I bricked my T959W by following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546 before doing my homework (for shame).
After getting past the root phase the phone turned on and I was getting ready to load a CWM or something but the phone locked up.
So I pulled the battery and went in to download mode. Then Odin connected but I accidentally pulled the USB.
So now I am at the aforementioned Phone-Triangle-PC loop. I have tried USB Jig without success.
So I have read over 40 post on this and my conclusion is it most likely I need to send it in for a JTAG Repair. As I most likely fudged the bootloader.
I am posting this only because no one has posted these exact symptoms that I could find.
Thanks

Ok it seems to be "saved" I had not realized there are 2 download modes. At any rate when I attempted those heimdall guides, one click and using the frontend. It started displaying the large triangle download screen. I cannot boot into recovery still, I may need help on this front.
Now before I move on could I get pointed at ROM/Guide that will get me operational again? I am a bit gun shy after this.
Thanks again,
Jon
Any of the ones on the first page in the development forum for this device.

So I managed to get CWM-recovery working. Yay
Only problem is I can't mount the sd card. And so I cannot load a ROM from it. I will be looking into this but I felt I should update.
Done and thank you
Great success! Turns out my sd card was corrupt fortunately I have an abundance of them.
Thanks for the help, you may allow this thread to die now.

Thanks

Actually sir. I had this same problem. But i fixed it myself ^_^ Google is a awesome tool. What i had to do is Re-flash a kernel and rom. I pulled the plug in download mode. Took me about 12 hours of reserch and work to FINALLY fix it. Is your phone the SGH-T959V? If so i still have all the stuff you need i do believe.

I have Found the files that you need to flash through Odin
I can instruct you how to download SDK tools and use command prompts to Put your phone in Download mode.
It would be my pleasure. I definately do believe both of our phones are pretty much exactly the same. Id be more than happy to help another XDA member out. Post back or PM me for instructions.
