[Q] problem with sd card - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I have installed Dorimanx-ROM-HIGH-END 3.1.5.1 on htc hd2 using MAGLDR and everything works fine but sd card not mount (e.g. when i open gallary or take a picture).
I tried to reboot phone and format sd card but it didn't help. Any ideas hot to fix it?
Thanks in advance

have you reinstalling the room with everything on the phone erased?

Have you hd2 eu version or tmous version?
If the EU version then you need ext3 or ext4 partition to run the Dorimanx's high end rom..

yes, everything on the phone was erased when i was reinstalling rom
I have ue version but do i need another ext partition if i have lite-version without swap?

No not with the light version.
Be careful to select the correct options when installing!!!
Best thing is to format your sdcard is with pc using SDFormatter v3.1 with format size adjustment on...(this deletes anty ext partitions.)
EDIT: CAN YOU SEE YOUR SDCARD WITH FILE MANAGER OR SUCH?????

Which options should i select? Im newbie so i probably chose the wrong one.
I tried to format my sd with this program and IT WORKS! thank you very much for advice! )

Either, just remember for the full version you need a ext3 or ext4 partition on your SD card and optional swap.
Its all there on dorimanx's from thread. I know there s a lot there but worth the read.
The lite version is easier!!
Good luck

[Q] sd-ext portion not working on some ROMS

i partitioned my sd card to get more memory for internal storage, but it doesnt show more memory at all, there was only one custom ROM that it actually works on but the ROM crashes alot, i wanna know how to make it work on any ROM because i barely have any internal memory on my Nexus One. can anyone help? i know it probably sounds dumb, but i really need more internal memory, i tried partitioning my sd card times already, it still doesnt work.
I'm not familiar with how it works on your phone, but usually if the rom doesn't have it built-in, you have to flash something to allow moving apps to your ext partition.
You may want to check your device's forum, I'm sure the answer is there somewhere.

To make sure you partitioned your SD Card correctly go HERE at STEP FIVE - Partitioning Your Sd Card With Gparted (it's a htc desire tutorial, but it doesn't matter). Create the fat32 partition and after that create a 1 GB ext4 partition (it should be enough).
Than go HERE where you have a MIUI ROM, it's fast and looks good and it has data 2 ext and it updates regularly, and i suggest installing the MIUI-NX | 1.8.26 | D2EXT | STABLE. Just flash the ROM and that's it.
After this, read everything from the Nexus One Android Development, i noticed that OxygeN ROM also has data2sd, only with it i think you have to flash a script after flashing the OxygeN ROM.
Also before you start don't forget to do a nandroid backup (i would suggest even using ROM Manager to do the backup as it is very simple to copy the backup on your PC)

Partition SD

I'm wanting to format my internal SD card and completely erase every single thing thats on it to start from scratch. I see in TWRP there is a section for partitioning SD. If I use this feature it should wipe my sd card and I can install a fresh rom right? What should I set the partion to? 2048? And use ext4?
I have a lot of junk on my sd that I no longer want and have been getting extremely annoying insufficient space errors when trying to install apps. I have a ton of space and am still getting errors. Just want to wipe it all, format the card correctly, and start over.
Please help I have tried seaching but nothing mentions TWRP or ext4.
Anyone? I don't have a personal PC right now as I'm building a new one, so I have to use my work comp. I have all of my info backed up at work and woud like to start restoring asap.
I am only here for another hour
Hey mate, there's no need to partition the SD card and format it for ext3 or ext4.
Just go into wipe and choose external sd card and that will wipe it for you.
Edit: You can also do it from within Android just go into settings > storage > erase phone storage

Only if you want to remove problems like low internal memory and want to use A2SD
My phone doesn't detect it either.
at start it gives small card with ! mark.
I tried formatting the card wholly with fat32,
I even tried making different partitions fat32+ext4.
In both ways my phone doesn't detect the memory card.
But when I do the update in recovery mode it updates through sd card.
My memory card is perfectly working on PC and other devices.
Try using the partition sd card option in recovery if you want to use Link2SD, A2SD or S2E.
Guys, do the cards ext2 or 3 , not 4. Don't know why but...... It worked for me. And if you partition them, make both partitions primary.

Thank you very much..I had the same problem, I formatted my SD card to ext3,fat32 and a swap partition and Wolla..its working fine:victory:.
There are some issues with ext4 partitions.
ext4 partition are said to be better but they might have some problems.
So if you encounter any, format it completely and delete all partitions. Using your phone recovery to make partition would be better.
Sometimes your second partition(i.e. sd-ext) is not detected by your recovery, and your main fat32 is works fine. Well that happened with me and i searched for solutions for long time. But did get any.
Later i fixed it by flashing the last cwm recovery with which the sd-ext partition was getting detected. Seems like the new version of recovery was the problem. Or something else, I don't know.

[Q] Link2SD Problem

Hi,
After searching a lot here and other place, I didn't find the solution of my problem.
I have 8gb card.
1st break up
6GB - FAT32 - Primary
rest - FAT32 - Primary.
Link2SD is not able to mount.
Displaying in storage info as - "SD Card 2nd Part." Not Mounted.
------------------------------------------
2nd try, with another breakup.
6GB - FAT32 - Primary
1.2GB - EXT2 - Primary
60MB - L.Swap - Primary
rest - Unallocated.
From Link2SD, I m able to see that sdext2 is mounted.
So for a demo purpose, I installed an application, The auto linking starts but get fails. Not able to create link /bla/bla/ - I/O error.
I did mount that location as RW with root explorer, no luck.
Please let me know what to do and how to resolve it.
Hi
What app did you use to format the sd card?
When i format my sd card using the cwm, i have to format the ext particion using easeus to ext2 particion, witch is the format that the stock rom suports, when i did that, i go to the app, select ext2 and reboot the device, that does the trick

Hi psicop,
Thanks for your reply, I used MiniTool.
Please suggest how/what to do..
I partitioned my sd with CWM and used A2SD, and it works fine.
Maybe you could try to partition it with CWM?

Link2SD automatically moves all files in SD. Its seems better that A2SD. Correct me if I m wrong.
Also, please tell how to flash recovery to CWM ? I downloaded 1 click recovery and installed the v5.0.2.8 , at the time of flashing, it display failed.
Please direct me from where you did that...
Please help someone, my phone memory is full now... i can also add person to my gtalk or y! messenger....
Do you have clockworkmod recovery installed?
If so, partition your SD from there, and if I'm correct, go to Link2sd, and choose ext4 as partition format... worked for me after numerous fails with other tools...
Edit: search for a tutorial to install CWM. That's how I installed it...

Apps in SD not working
I dunno if its relevant in this thread, but i couldnt find the answer anywhere else.
I partitioned my 8gb class 10 sd card and installed link2sd and all was fine. I created links for most of my apps and everything was fine, until I had to remove my sd card for some data transfer. Now my apps that were shifted previously are not working. For your information I use CM11 in my Galaxy ace.

Seems like you have to reinstall them, dunno why but removing the card might have had created problems.

The problem got solved, when I mounted the script again and did a reboot. When the phone boots, link2sd has to update all the links. There is an option available for this in the settings. Anyways thanks :good:

[Q] SD card won't mount - Have I bricked it?

Hi guys.
Almost total noob here - not quite, but still.
I have a Pico/Explorer.
I rooted, flashed CWM 5.05, then a MIUI ROM.. all worked well. Then I wanted to try the new Triumph HD ROM. Initiall install was succesful.
I partitioned my SD card with 1024 ext3 and a swap of 128Mb
Wiped, installed ROM, no problems.
I didn't see that int2ext was supported (by command line, apparently) so I tried installing mount2sd from the play store.
After enabling everything in that app, I rebooted.
Phone became stuck on lock screen.. would not respond to any touches or buttons. But the UI updated when the battery got low, made a noise on low battery etc, and the time was updated.
I booted into recovery to test the buttons, all work fine. I checked my partition log and it said various errors like could not find this or that mount point.
I partitioned again, this time is was extremely slow. I put the SD card into my mac to add the images, but it wasn't found.
Now when I partition it does it really quick - on inspecting the log, it says "err: /dev/block/mmcblk0 does not exist!"
I can't mount the /sdcard or the /sd-ext in recovery.
Have I f!cked my SD card or my device?
Thanks for any help.
Connect your sd-card to pc using card reader if it shows sd-card then ok
If it not show ur sd-card then run minitool partition wizard
And find the sd-card there and format it and delete the sd-ext partition and re-create it using recovery
And never use two memory script at one time
Before using the another memory script remove the previous one

Thanks dude.
When I plug it in with a USB card reader, the SD card doesn't show - in minitool or anywhere else at all.
I think it's dead. Will have to buy a new one.
I will be careful with overclocking in future
Thanks again.
Put your card in the phone and boot into recovery.. Then mounts/storage and try to mount usb storage when connected to pc.. If the mem card shows up in your pc then try putting the card in a non android phone and delete the partitions.. Even my sd card didn't show up in a card reader.. But it showed up when I used a non android phone..

make sure your sd card is usable - connect it to PC and check if it is being read. If yes, then continue. If no, then replace it.
Backup your entire SD card.
Delete all partitions and make one single partition using the Minitool Partition Wizard. Once done, try partitioning with the Recovery. this way you can ensure max compatibility.
And btw, only use swap if you are using Swapper, and only if your ROM supports it. Not all ROM support swapping. I recommend you to set swap to 0, our Pico is capable enough to run flawlessly without swap.
Once done, Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, flash your rom again and after one reboot flash mounts2sd or int2ext. Never use two scripts at a time.
same problem
It happened only with Triumph ROM for me no matter what i do the doesn't mount when i connect via usb tethering to my pc..I had to reboot into recovery for the memory card to show up in the pc..Can any one help me on this?
I never installed any secondary memory script..Just flashed the latest Triumph version after a superwipe....
The memory card never shows up on the pc but only in recovery..
format using minitool partion
format using minitool partion it'll fix sd card errors
